  • Quiet Morning in Tuckahoe

As YHC stood in the parking lot enjoying the quiet morning, I wondered whether this would be a solo workout. Fortunately, with a couple minutes to spare, Garbage Plate and Vandelay arrived. At 0530, we launched.

Moseyed across Forest to the Third Church Parking Lot A for warmup that included dead man hang, side straddle hops, merkins, and WWIIs.

Mosey behind the church along the playground to the back parking lot for a triple check. P1 – BTTW. P2 – Squats. P3 – run to the end of the parking lot and Bernie back.

Mosey to the tree covered lot across Silverspring for 4 corners. The PAX was pleasantly surprised to find a good size stack of fresh coupons hidden in the trees. Once each retrieved a coupon, we started the first 4 corners. Corner 1 – curls. Bear crawl to Corner 2 – WWIIs. Run to Corner 3 – shoulder taps. Crab walk to Corner 4 – jump squats. Bernie back to start. Picked up our coupons for second 4 corners, coupons traveling along this time. Corner 1 – overhead presses. Corner 2 – WWIIs with coupons. Corner 3 – alternating merkins with one hand on the block. Corner 4 – block swings. Back to start and return coupons.

Mosey back to TES and around back to the main parking lot for 11s. Merkins, starting at 10, run across and Bernie up hill for WWIIs.

With a few minutes left, we wrapped up with some mary – american hammers, flutter kicks, heels to heaven.

Thank you to Garbage Plate and Vandelay for showing up this morning – great start to the week.

  • Getting to work before going asynchronous again…

A strong 10 showed up for this week’s edition of Hoedown. Temperatures were sunny and 70 despite the impending snow later this week.

We started with a mosey around the carpool drop off loop to give the late arrivals time to catch and then head down to the bottom of Lindsay Court for a warm up that included SSH, Arm Circles, Don Quixote, Dead Man Hang, both wives, WWIIs and Flutter kicks.

With everyone warmed up, we partnered up to head back up Lindsay. Partner 1 runs to the top of Lindsay while Partner 2 works his way up the hill doing a series of exercises which included Bear Crawl, Broad Jumps, Crab Walk and Polar Bears (if needed).

After a 10-count, we mosey to the southern end of West Drive Circle for a triple check. Once everyone counted correctly, here is how it went down. Partner 1 ran around the circle. Partner 2 jump squats. Partner 3 Hand Release Merkins.

Next, mosey across Lindsay Dr to the northern end of West Drive Circle for a Dora. Partner 1 runs to the light at the end of the street. Partner 2 does series of exercises. 50 Merkins, 100 LBCs, 150 Flutter Kicks. After dissension amongst the pax about which light YHC meant, we completed the dora.

Then, line up for an indigenous people’s run back to the parking lot for 11s. Bernie sanders across the parking lot and up the hill for WWIIs then run back to the other side for merkins. Start with 10 WWIIs and 1 Merkin. YHC called time when the pax got to 3 WWIIs and 8 Merkins.

  • Bat signal sent up …

  • 4 Corners on Repeat

Four regulars showed up for this week’s edition of Hoedown. No one had signed up for the queue but someone had put down “hawt potato” which the PAX seemed to think meant Handshake would be joining. At 0530 with no sign of Handshake, the PAX set off for what would be a hot potato.

We moseyed to the Third Church parking lot across from the school where 1-800 lead warm up that included SSHs, DQs, Dead Man Hang, Arm Circles, Merkins, LBCs.

We then moseyed behind the church over to the lot between the church and office buildings. 1-800 called a Four Corners: 10 jump squats, 20 carolina dry docks, 30 monkey humpers, 40 2-count american hammers. Oyster then called a reverso.

EF Hutton took the queue and we moseyed back to the school and around the back to the upper field. We had a quick interlude of three rounds of a PAX member doing pulling ups while the rest held plank. Being popular today and the PAX wanting to keep together, another Four Corners. 10 HR Merkins, 20 Imperial Squats, 30 WWIIs, 40 SSHs. Then, reverso, but freddie mercuries instead of WWIIs.

Marv took over and led us down to the black top for another Four Corners. 5 burpees, 20 LBCs, 30 APBs, 40 SSHs. Reverso, but bear crawl the shorts, swap LBCs for American Hammers and APBs for Hello Dollies..

Mosey down the drop off circle with a stop for 10 jerkins. 20 donkey kicks on the wall, then back up for 10 more jerkins and return for a final 20 donkey kicks.

Mosey back to the flag for a quick round of mary.

    Marv took us out.

  • Amateur or Professional?

As YHC pulled up this morning, he saw Saab warming up and wondered who else might show on this chilly morning. Eventually, 7 runners, 3 walkers and 1 rucker showed for this week’s edition of RAMM.

YHC discussed the routes (posted below) and off he went.

    5s: https://onthegomap.com/s/blt0c0tr
    6s: https://onthegomap.com/s/8bvmc94k

Running thru Windsor Farms, the discussion surrounded whether a professional was paid to install the outdoor Christmas lights/decorations. The PAX agreed that it was about half and half. From there, the discussion ranged a variety of topics, plus Phonics demonstrated the correct technique to gracefully stumble crossing a speed bump and keep going for the rest of the run.

  • Crisp, Clear Morning in Tuckahoe

6 RVA Pax and 1 downrange from Valdosta, GA gathered in the gloom for this week’s edition of Hoedown. With no one on the Q sheet, YHC said he had a plan so off we went.

Mosey to the closest Third Church parking lot for warm up that included Dead Man Hang, Don Quixote, Arm Circles, Merkins, Freddie Mercuries.

Mosey to the far Third Church parking lot for a Triple Check. P1 runs around the lot. P2 does squats. P3 does WWIIs.

    Next, Four Corners. Corner 1 – 10 Merkins. Corner 2 – 20 jump squats. Corner 3 – 30 monkey humpers. Corner 4 – 40 side straddle hops.

Mosey back to Silverspring for parked car bingo. 2 burpees for pick up trucks.  5 merkins for each SUV.  5 squats for a car/crossover/wagon.  After completing the loop down Silverspring and connecting back to Forest, the PAX agreed that the neighborhood has entirely too many SUVs.  YHC believes the merkin count hit 80 merkins by the end of the loop.

Mosey back across Forest to Tuckahoe for 11s.  The pax picked Carolina dry docks and American hammers.

With a few minutes left, mosey to the flag for some mary.  Exercises included APBs, Heels to heaven, WWIs, leg lifts, spelling HOEDOWN with your legs.
