  • A to Z

A PAX of three, including two regulars and one recently named, posted for this week’s Punisher. Within seconds of Krü parking his car, we moved from the parking lot to the soggy grass for the startup COP with 25 Invisible Jump Ropes, 15 each of IWs, DQs, Hillbillies, and Russian Soldiers, and Arm Circles (of course).

Short mosey to the concrete circle at the front of the school for an alphabet-inspired sequence by completing 26 reps of exercises beginning with each letter of the alphabet. Some exercise options were obvious (Alabama Prom Dates, Burpees, Carolina Dry Docks, and others). We made up others (Quick Feet for whatever that exercise is involving alternating taps of the feet on a nearby curb, or Old Man Sit Ups for WWIIs). Extra credit – after Z, finished by air spelling each letter.

Move to the school wall for a quick Triple Check with People’s Chair, Reverse Plank, and a run out into the parking lot and back. Finish with a minute of stretching. COT and YHC took us out.

Glad you could join us again Hat Truck. Good work Krü.

  • Dirty Dozen

In anticipation of some winter precipitation, a PAX of 12 assembled for Saturday’s GridIron offering. Vehicles were still being parked as we began with 25 SSHs, 15 IWs, 15 DQs, 15 x Russian Soldiers, 10 Merkins, 25 LBCs, and 10 Arm Circles (big only, forward then reverse).

Mosey to the playground for Jerkins. Working in groups of three, start with 6 reps and work down to one with 15 LBCs in between sets. Move back up the hill to the parking lot and spread out in the parking spaces for 15 Merkins followed by 15 LBCs. Move counterclockwise to an adjacent parking space for 14 Merkins and 15 LBCs. Continue to shift and reduce Merkin reps until done.

Jog in the direction of the school with designated lead guy counting 30 two-count paces and then hitting the ground for 15 LBCs – following PAX members hit the ground behind him. Rotate through a couple of leads until we reach the edge of the bus shelter. Split PAX into two groups. One group of six completes 6 Burpees followed by 15 LBCs. The other group moves to the school wall for 12 Donkey Kicks followed by 15 LBCS. The groups shift stations and complete the other exercise. Repeat for 5 rounds.

Saunter beyond the bus loop to the hill heading down to the ball fields. Facing uphill, Crawl Bear down and Bear Crawl back up and complete 15 LBCs. Facing uphill again, Crab Walk (feet uphill) down the hill and back up again and complete 15 more LBCs.

Gather in groups of three once again from which one guy runs 30 two-count paces and drops for another LBC round while the others are in Plank and watching. Remaining PAX members mosey to the drop spot and complete the same. Rotate through until all have led a round.

COT and Earthworm took us out just as sleet and rain began to fall. Few announcements under these conditions and conversations were reserved for coffee at Einstein’s Bagels after.

Enjoyed the morning guys. Nice work. Good seeking Quest, Tater, and Touchma as regulars. Cheetah has been steady, too. Great, also, having Earthworm and Cecil healthy again. Of course there’s love for you other guys, too. What did I miss?

  • Instant Mac & Cheese

Two posted, between rain showers, for the most recent Punisher offering.

COP in the mulch bed near the school parking lot with 25 x Invisible Jump Ropes, 15 each of IWs, DQs, and Helicopters, and Arm Circles. Mosey around to a couple of dry spots in the bus loop for a ready-made workout involving a Deck of Death. Suits were Merkins, Squats, Box Cutters, and Single Count Mountain Climbers and reps per card number then 15 for Jack, 20 for Queen, 25 for King, and 30 for Ace. Jokers stayed in the deck and meant 5 Burpees.

Resume mosey to the playground for 5s starting with 4 Swing Jerkins and 1 Swing Jackknife. Four rounds total adjusting by one rep each round. Shift to a nearby bench for 5 rounds of 10 Dips and 10 Bench Kicks. Move to a concrete pad near the school for some LBC variations and some stretching.

Mosey back to the parking lot for COT. Nice work Krü.

  • Gimme five

A PAX of 5 posted for tonight’s Punisher.  YHC arrived at Holton just a few minutes before the advertised start time.  Krü, Up Chuck, and Offshore were already on site.  Johnsonville arrived moments later.

The Thang:  At 6:30 PM sharp, we moseyed over the curb near the school for the initial COP with 20 x Invisible Jump Ropes, 15 x Don Quixotes, 15 x Imperial Walkers, 15 x Russian Soldiers, 15 x Helicopters, and 15 x Arm Circles (big only, forward then reverse).

We strolled 20 paces to the school gym’s wall for 11s alternating Inverted Merkins and Donkey Kicks.  Started with 10 Inverted Merkins and 1 Donkey Kick and worked through the cycle, breaking after each round with People’s Chair so we could stay together.

Mobile Imperial Walkers, mostly, around the school to the bus loop.  Sit down on the pavement in a circle and complete 1 two-count American Hammer, counted out by a PAX member, followed by 25 LBCs.  Shift to the next PAX member for 2 two-count AHs followed by 25 more LBCs.  Continue adding one more AH each round until 10 are completed, then work back down to 1 AH again.  25 LBCs after each round.  Feet off the ground until each PAX member had called AHs, then feet down briefly.

Mobile Russian Soldiers around the school to the playground.  Semi-circle in elbow plank while taking turns completing 1 Pull Up.  Next round add another Pull Up with waiting PAX in Arm Plank.  Continue up to 4 Pull Ups and back down again with alternating wait in Elbow Plank, Arm Plank, and Reverse Plank.

Hit the playground benches for 20 x Step Ups (one leg), 20 x Dips, 20 x Step Ups (other leg), and 20 x Dips.  Mosey back around the other end of the school.  Pause in the yard for two sets of 25 x APDs followed by stretching.  Back around to the parking lot.  COT and YHC took us out.

Moleskin:  Great to get five guys tonight.  Good energy on a crisp, clear night.  Appreciate catching up, including the Mumblechatter.

  • That other time it was cold

Three posted to the Punisher on MLK Day under clear skies and in cold temperatures.  Turned out we had the same three gents from post from the week before – Johnsonville, Krü, and YHC.

The Thang:  We triangled up under the awning adjacent to Holton Elementary for our warmup COP with Mountain Climbers, IWs, DQs, Cherry Pickers, and Arm Circles.  While warming up, we’d decided on a round robin format for the evening’s workout.  YHC led off with a Mosey to the outdoor classroom followed by 6 rounds of 11 reps each of Carolina Dry Docks and Squats followed by picnic table Pole Smokers at each end of the table.

Johnsonville moved us to the school wall for a multi-round medley mixing in Donkey Kicks, Half Burpees, and Bear Crawls.

Krü ran us around to the playground for another medley involving Swingset Jerkins, Pullups (with a flexed arm hold), and Box Cutters.

YHC brought us back around the school under the awning for a Jack Webb-style patting of the school wall, several rounds of LBC with variations, and some stretching.  Finished with the COT and YHC took us out.  Too cold for lengthy discussion of announcements.

  • Mobile headlocking

Three posted for last week’s Punisher.  We met briefly in the parking lot before hitting the grass for a the COP with Mountain Climbers, IWs, DQs, Russian Soldiers, and Arm Circles.  Comfortable there would be no late arrivers, we moved off campus, moseying south to Wilmington Avenue.  We took the opportunity to knock on the front door of a fellow we’ve been headlocking (Krü and YHC), but he could not come out and play (although the term man-shaming was mentioned).

We stayed on Wilmington Avenue in continuing the workout, stopping at each large tree bordering the street’s inside grassy loop for alternating chest, legs, and core exercises called in round robin, dealer’s choice format.  Upon reaching Hermitage Road again and completing the loop, we moseyed back to Holton and took a spot under the awning near the school gym for some LBC variations and some stretching.  Returned to the parking lot for COT and YHC took us out.

  • NYE Punisher Pub Tour

A PAX of four posted for the NYE Punisher Pub Crawl.  Quick circle and stretch in the schoolyard grass before takeoff.  Hit sidewalk adjacent to school grounds and head east along Laburnum Avenue, left on southeast bound side of Fauquier Avenue, another left on Nottoway Avenue, and a right on MacArthur Avenue to Dot’s Back Inn for one H²O, one cider, and two beers and a little fellowship.

Pay up, walk out, and continue south on MacArthur to Nottoway, right on Nottoway, and left on Hermitage Road past Holton Elementary to Kitchen 64 for another round of the same. Pay up and return to LHES.

Nice work Gomer Pyle, Johnsonville, and Krü.  Happy New Year all.

  • ‘Twas the night before Christmas

Met up with Krü at Linwood Holton Elementary School for a Christmas Eve edition of the Punisher.  We crossed the front lawn and halted for startup activities including 50 (YHC’s age as of 12/24) x Mountain Climbers (2 count), 10 each of IWs, DQs, Russian Soldiers, Cherry Pickers, and Helicopters, and 50 x Large Arm Circles (25 forward and 25 reverse – all single count).

Moved around the school for 50 x Jerkins, Merkins, Squats, and WWIIs which we completed in 5 sets of 10 reps each.  Grabbed a portable FM radio from the truck and sauntered off campus for a quick Christmas light viewing at Laburnum Avenue and the I-64 onramp several blocks west of LHES – known as Rosedale Christmas.  Tuned the radio to 89.3 and completed a couple of sets of LBCs under the Interstate overpass.  Headed back to the school for a COT and departed for other Christmas Eve activities.

Hope you all had a good Christmas.

  • You never know

YHC hit the Holton parking lot last Monday uncertain if there would be any others partaking of the evening’s Punisher.  Was pleasantly surprised to find EF Hutton, Krü, and Adderall there and ready for whatever.

Mosey to the west side of the school for initial COP with SSHs, IWs, DQs, Russian Soldiers, Helicopters, and Arm Circles.  Move to the school wall, partner up, and complete a Dora taking turns completing 100 Merkins, 200 Squats, and 300 Flutter Kicks (two count) with a Bear Crawl to a nearby tree and a jog back.

Saunter around the back side of the school to the playground.  At half circle monkey bars, pullup and hold for 5 seconds then shift to the nearby swings for 6 Jerkins.  Back to the bars for another pull and hold, then back to the swings for 5 Jerkins.  And so finishing with 1 Jerkin.  Rotated through swings with everyone having a couple of turns under the plastic infant swing.

Jog back around to the picnic pavilion and pick a table for a couple of rounds of exercises.  At each end of the bench seat on each side (4 corners), complete 5 Derkins – for 20 reps total.  Round 2 – alternating Captain Morgan squats.  Round 3 – Incline Merkins.  Round 4 – alternating Step Ups.  Round 5 – Walk the Plank.  Round 6 – 10 Bench Kicks on each side and 10 Leg Tosses on each end.  Move back to the school for LBC variations mixed with APDs.  Finish with light stretching.  Mosey back to the parking lot for COT and YHC took us out.

    Nice work fellas.

  • Punisher digest – December 2018

Glad to see EF Hutton in the LHES parking area as YHC crossed the school yard ahead of the first Punisher in December.  We moseyed to the Hermitage Road side of the school for a startup COP with conversational offerings of most of the usual – Imaginary Jump Ropes, DQs, IWs, Russian Soldiers, Helicopters, and Arm Circles.

Quick mosey to the outdoor classroom for Elevens with Derkins and Squats.  Jogged around the back to the playground for playground swing with Jerkins alternating with some Mary.  Moved to the far northeastern corner of the school ground for sidewalk square escalator alternating Carolina Dry Docks, 5 Second Squats, and Flutter Kicks.  Headed back the way we came, stopping at the school for double checks starting with People’s Chair and Bear Crawls, then Wall Crawls and Crab Walks.  Held People’s Chair variants at the wall (both legs, then right leg, then left).  Hit the grass for LBC varieties and stretching.

Back to the parking lot for “C”OT and YHC took us out.

Punisher attendance poor during the past month or so.  YHC had been out a bit in November.  As I understand it, Nightcrawler posted solo a couple of times.  FYI, the plan is to keep this AO going – evening offering at the same time and same location.  Headlocking at Holiday parties, appealing to 2019 resolutions.
