  • Tomato Fun Run

YHC pulled up to people in the parking lot this time to have a total of 5 for the run morning. We had a 4 and 5 mile route for the guys and YHC ran with Mr Holland and Bulkhead for a steady 4 mile Taylor Farm route. Marco Polo ran ahead with Hash on a 4.5-5 mile route and we all circled up at the club house for a cool down lap around the parking lot.

We had a great conversation while running and this was much better than the solo run from last week for sure!

Numberama, Namerama and Marco Polo took us out in Prayer.

  • Solo Light Tour

YHC decided to take the rest of the week off for the Christmas Holiday season and to start the holidays off right headed out to lead this morning’s run. Show up and no one had posted wait to ensure no late comers and had to take a bathroom break, returned, still no sign of anyone, so YHC sets off. This time the route is through the Giles community for a solid 4 mile run, no trails, just different roads, some unpaved but curb and gutter was installed. Had to watch out for the elevated Manholes as it was dark, (Tuesday was the longest night of 2021) so no daylight until near the end of the run, over the train bridge and turning into Rutland. Throughout this time YHC was able to reflect on the previous 2021 year with COVID-19 still around, adjusting to realization that the mask wearing is going to be around for awhile. Also looking forward to some time off with the family, enjoying some down time and catching up with folks that I have not seen in awhile.

When returning back there were many homes smartly decorated with lights, some had scenes and others went all out with the entire front yard decked out. A nice run this morning.

Merry Christmas F3 RVA…I will see you in the gloom. Cheers….CB!

  • Ramp Build with F3RVA

    Ramp Build with F3RVA

F3 brothers we have an opportunity to work with Project Homes to install ramps for handicapped people in our communities. This is Richmond based and we are helping our less fortunate neighbors that need a ramp to navigate from their house to the driveway or sidewalk. These folks do not have the means to have a ramp professionally installed. Project Homes with the help of volunteers, corporate and private donations are able to procure the raw materials and build ramp kits for future ramp builds. Staff volunteers and volunteers outside the Project Home group will meet at the ramp build site at 8:30 am and assemble the kits to build a ramp by 12 noon. They typically need 6 volunteers to work alongside the install teams to install the ramp kits. I have personally worked on 3 ramp installs and it is very organized and you will work with their assistance. You just need to be dressed for the weather and show up. They have all of the tools, fasteners and safety equipment that you will need to build the ramp.

Please see link below for more information about this volunteer program

    https://www.projecthomes.org/

If after reviewing what the ramp build is all about and you are interested we have 4 dates for ramp installs: January 18, 2022, January 27, 2022, February 10, 2022 and February 24,2022.

The sign up sheets are in the 2022Ramp Build Tab in the F3Richmond Monthly Challenges Google sheet docs file.

This is a great event and please contact me if you have further questions.

  • 3 Amigos for Tomato Run

YHC pulled up for a run and had 2 others show up so we decided for a Taylor Farm 4 mile route. We had some great mumble chatter for this run, talking about family, the holidays and what we plan to do next year. It was great to catch up with Opus and Bulkhead this morning. Nice cool weather and a great recovery run pace.

Numberama, Namerama and Opus took us out in prayer.

Being Monday and the start of the workweek, we spent much of the workout talking about work…so we titled this beatdown company men…AS YHC was solo last week, it was much better with someone to workout with.

  • Tomato One

YHC showed up to the Rutland Club house to an empty parking lot, knowing that some Davillians may run to meet up here, waited until 1 minute past go time…no others, time to run.

With no pre-thought out route, started with a reverse Bojangles loop to get the juices flowing, run over the train bridge and turn into Giles and do the loop near their clubhouse. Return back over the Sliding Hill Road Bridge run past the Rutland clubhouse and turn around to a large barking dog (a little shocked sprint) and backup to the intersection u-turn to clubhouse and mini loop there to complete 4 miles for this morning.

    route below

Nice Crisp air this morning and look forward to a great day as the run is done!

Have a great day everyone…Cheers, CB!

  • 2.0 Wisdom

YHC and Spit volunteered to take the Q as Bulkhead was under the weather for this morning’s workout. 19 showed up for this anticipated beatdown so we had some work to do to make this one worthy of a fine F3RVA Marine brother. So here is what went down:

    COP

We mosey from the flag to the first crop circle next to the amphitheater one lap then form a circle for the following warm up exercises:

    20 SSH, 10 DQ, 10 4ct helicopters, 15 arm circles (10 small and 5 big), reverso, 25 4 ct American Hammers, 20 4 ct flutter kicks, 10 4 ct LBC’s, 10 scorpions, 30 merkins.

    THANG

We mosey to a CB favorite Rugby Road-Pump house drive triangle. We form groups of 3 for a triple check. Partner 1(p1) runs from crop circle to Rugby Road, down rugby Road to intersection of Pump house road. Perform 5 burpees (for Bulkhead), then dealers choice up the hill (Bernie Saunders, Karaoke, run etc…) This is the timer. P2-Lunges alternating each leg, P3-Dealers choice on Abs (LBC’s, American Hammers, Flutter kicks, WW2 sit ups, etc). We rotate, P1 – lunges, P2 – Abs complex, P3 – Runs lap with 5 Burpees at bottom of hill, and Dealers choice up the hill. For the 3rd rotation P1- Abs Complex, P2 – Runs lap, P3 – Lunges. This is 1 complete rotation, we perform 2 more rotations for a triple check.

Hand off to Spit. We mosey to top of love hill by Amphitheater, Partner up for catch me if you can. P1 Bernie Saunders down the hill, P2 performs 25 merkins then runs to P1 to switch. We flapjack until we reach the bottom of the hill. Next we have to go back up the hill and for this effort, P1 runs to the bushes at midpoint up of hill returns with P2 – performs broad jump burpees up the hill they switch, P2 runs and P1 Broad jump burpees. Next P1 Runs to corner, P2 Walking lunges, switch then Final P1 Polar Bear, and P2 runs, switch. We still have distance to mosey up the hill so we continue with this rotation until we reach the corner. We have about 3 minutes left to mosey to flag from this point and the PAX arrive at the flag with no time to spare…right at 60 min.

    COT

Numberama, Namerama and Hardywood took us out in prayer with a special story.

    We have the following announcements:

YHC is working on a pre-blast for Ramp build with Project Homes as many were interested in participating.

We welcome Ryan Clore (Durden … from Fight Club) who moved from Spruce Pine, NC and was active in F3 there.

Good luck to the F3RVA pax participating in the Bear Creek 10 Mile trail run this weekend.

So YHC had Hardwood take us out in prayer and he was moved by seeing so many F3 brothers that he had not seen in awhile that he wanted to tell a story about his 2.0 daughter who had come back from a recent camp. So while riding back Hardywood asked her: “How was the camping trip? ” She replied by telling a story about how the counselor going around to each child when looking at a glass filled to the midpoint. The counselor asked was the glass half full or half empty? So Hardywood anticipating his 2.0 to reply that she saw it as half full. He was surprised to hear his 2.0 state that the counselor was asking the wrong question. It should be: “How is your glass filled?” It could be from doing a nice thing for someone, being thankful or someone doing something nice for her. Hardywood had stated also that he had been on fumes personally lately and needed to post for a recharge. Well any F3 brother that has posted with Hardywood would tell you that you feel pumped and ready to rock a beatdown with him around. Glad you posted this morning and filling our cups with your energy, 2.0 story and prayer…we are off to a great weekend! Humbled and honored to Lead you gents this morning, your fellow Davillians Spit and Corned Beef. Cheers, Peace and God Bless.
