  • If you can smile while running, you’re not running fast enough

We ran…and it was glorious. According to three of our watches, total distance logged was about 8.4 miles. Boberry’s ever optimistic and encouraging watch clocked 10.

Don Draper had a new route for us this morning (much welcomed) that required the PAX to high jump over a gate guarded by Chesterfield police and scale a 10 ft fence. Ok, so maybe neither of those things happened…Draper always managed to find the secret path around said barriers. It was good to explore some new territory through Charter Colony and Walton Park.

We joined Wilson, Herme, Aisle 5, and Otto/Asshole the dog at Starbucks for some good post-run second F.

Prayers for a quick recovery for EF Hutton.

  • Is this a late April Fool’s Prank?…coulda sworn it was spring

Bullseye and Doozy joined YHC at Twin Team this morning for a chilly, windy, Good Friday hot potato. It’s always 70 and sunny somewhere…it was not at BWES. Here’s what went down.

    Tobit Q:

Mosey to back circle for COP:

SSHs, DQs, Russian Soldiers, Helicopters, Cherry Pickers, LBCs, Flutter Kicks

    Head towards the blacktop.

    Four Corners Ladder/Prostitute

    Corner 1: 10 Merkins

Corner 2: 10 Merkins, 20 WWIIs, Back to corner 1

    Corner 3: 10 Merkins, 20 WWIIs, 30 Squats, back to corners 2 and 1

Corner 4: Add 40 2-count American Hammers and replace WWIIs with LBCs cause that was just taking too long

    Bullseye Q:

Mosey over to bus loop for…

    Curb Crawls

Bear crawl, 5 jump squats, crawl bear, 5 inch worm merkins, repeato with 4 3, 2, 1 reps

Mosey to front of BWES for dips and wall sits (2 rounds)

    Doozy Q:

Staying on the wall, we did some horrible exercise that DTH introduced to Doozy (x25). Legs were jello afterwards.

    Triple Check

Partner 1 runs the bus loop, while partner 2 does LBCs and partner 3 does squats.

And it wouldn’t a Doozy Q without Man killers.

BTTF for 1 Minute of Mary (Alabama Prom Dates and Hello Dollies).

Names, numbers, announcements, prayer requests, YHC took us out.

NMS: Feels like we got a lot done in 45 minutes. It seems strange that after only a week or so of more spring-like weather that our bodies just outright reject a return to the cold. YHC hung out in the warmth of the vehicle until 5:29:30. Knowing it was not gonna be quite 70 this morning prompted YHC to put his name on the Q sheet (needed some definite motivation to break out of the hold of the fartsack). By the time Doozy’s man killers rolled around, the PAX was definitely feeling warm. Some light mumble chatter this morning. We talked some about April Fool’s pranks. Yesterday, YHC and M tied our 2.0s shoes together (he wasn’t amused).

Today is Good Friday. And for the second year in a row, YHC and family won’t be making it to church. While YHC prefers a spring like Holy Week, it seems fitting that the day we remember our Lord hanging and dying on a cross would be a little colder.

Thanks to Bullseye and Doozy for joining YHC this morning and helping me lead.

Enjoy the weekend fellas…and Happy Easter! Peace!

  • Mousetrap Sighting

A faithful 4 and a long lost traveler from Powhatan made their way to Timberwolf. It may have been 70 and sunny in our hearts but it was dark and foggy at TCMS. With no lights and what seemed like zero visibility at the track, YHC made a few location modifications. Here’s what went down:

    Mosey to the basketball court.

    COP:

SSHs, Imperial Walkers, DQs, Cherry Pickers, Russian Soldiers

    Doracides:

Partner up (with a PAX of 5, YHC joined a duo). One partner does suicides while the other performs an exercise. 100 merkins, 200 LBCs, 300 squats.

Mosey to the only place with working lights.

Modified Catch Me if You Can:

New partners. Partner 1 runs the loop while partner 2 does bear crawls. When partner 1 makes it around to partner 2, switch it up. Continue a sequence of bear crawl, broad jump, crab walk, polar bear crawl until each team makes it around the loop.

    Beast:

    Round 1 – Burpees

    Round 2 – WWIIs

Round 3 – Merkins and Bernie Sanders

Round 4 – American Hammers and karaoke

Times up (YHC can never seem to finish a beast before time runs out). BTTF for 30 seconds of flutter kicks.

Numbers, Names, Announcements, Prayer Requests, YHC took us out.

NMS: Dang it was dark this morning. YHC had intended to do everything at the track and field. But with the fog and no field lights this week, it was best not to venture that way. Team Herme/Nancy crushed the doracides. Team Boberry/Mousetrap/Tobit appreciates the help at the end.

Great to have Mousetrap back out in the gloom this morning. He’s been on COVID hiatus since last March….but he seemed to remember most of the F3 lingo and was throwing down his usual banter. Keep posting Mousetrap.

    Announcements and Prayer Requests:

-Freed to Bleed bloodmobile on May 1. See Boberry and Slack for details and to sign up.

-Prayers for Boberry’s Dad. He has a consultation today for prostate surgery. Bo’s Mom is naturally anxious…so prayers for her too.

Thanks for letting me lead….make it a good one fellas!

  • Rosetta’s Mom has got it going on

Four decided on a late start this morning due to daylight savings time. The PAX launched from Starbucks at 7 just as Wilson and Nancy Lopez were returning. OC planned an 8.5 route around Midlothian (Tour of Charter Colony, Midlo Mines, Salisbury, etc.). A brief teaser at mile 7 when the Starbucks was in view…but the PAX continued on to make it 9 miles.

YHC has the worst memory and couldn’t even begin to recall all of this morning’s conversations. All worth remembering though. Just ask one of the other 3 for the details.

At one point, Rosetta yelled out “Hey Mom” to a passing runner. Is that what he calls all the ladies? Turns out, it really was his mom…out for her Sunday run with a friend. Both seemed equally surprised to see each other.

A bit chiller this morning versus this past week, but as Boberry put it before, the camaraderie of this group makes it 70 and sunny. The plan for next week is 13.1…Boberry’s first half.

  • Well…that seemed better in my head

9 hit the track at Timberwolf for a beatdown that went something like this…

    COP:

SSHs, DQs, Cherry Pickers, Russian Soldiers, Jazzercise, and something else courtesy of Nancy Lopez

    Millennium:

10 rounds of 100 exercises. Lap around the track after each round. Exercises were:

Merkins, Jump Squats, LBCs, Carolina Dry Docks, Squats, American Hammers, Leg Lifts, Flutterkicks, SSHs, Burpees (x25)

    BTTF

Numbers, Names, Announcements, YHC took us out.

    NMS:

The warmer weather this week gave YHC the Q bug. Not sure the rest of the PAX was pleased with the millennium. Even though the PAX crushed it as usual, it went faster in YHCs head. Lots of great mumblechatter this morning, though.

Great job this morning fellas! Always a pleasure to lead.

    Announcements:

    • Prayers for Rockport and his M. The 2.0 could be here any day now.
    • Look for a preblast from Boberry about helping out with a blood drive he is working to organize.
    • New Market will be descending on Dogpile this weekend to support Duke’s Q and help celebrate his BD.
  • Who do you trust?

Four gathered for some 3rd F discussion on trust.

Who do you trust? We began by recounting the story in Genesis 22 of Abraham and Isaac. YHC asked how old everyone thought Isaac was when Abraham was about to sacrifice him. DTH said 7, Gypsy said 37, and YHC was thinking more like 18. In any case, Isaac was old enough to know what was going on and yet he fully trusted his father. Jesus does the same in the Garden of Gethsemane in Matthew 26.

Is anyone having trouble fully trusting God and what exactly does it mean to trust God? YHC’s interpretation is that no matter what happens in your life (not matter how good or how bad things are), you continue to turn to God in prayer…you just keep praying.

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart on your own intelligence rely not; In all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths.

Psalm 46:11 – Be still and confess that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, exalted on earth.

Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Joshua 1:9 – I command you: be firm and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord, your God, is with you wherever you go.

Mark 5:36 – Do not be afraid; just have faith.

  • Thanks be to Boberry

A PAX of 2 took on Twim Team this morning. Here’s what went down:

    Mosey from BWES to JRHS.

COP: SSHs, Russian Soldiers, Cherry Pickers, DQs, LBCs

Bearpees: Starting at one end of the parking lot (at light pole 1), bear crawl 4 steps followed by 1 burpee until reaching light pole 2. Next, bear crawl 8 steps with 2 burpees until reaching light pole 3. Finally, bear crawl 12 steps with 3 burpees until light pole 4.

    Mosey to BWES jungle gym.

11s: pull-ups and WWIIs (running in between)

Prostitute: Using trees and light poles – Burpees, WWIIs, Merkins, Crunchy Frogs, American Hammers, and Monkey Humpers

    BTTF

Numbers, Names, Announcements, YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

    -Monday at Kindred Spirits 6pm

-Sunday 2/28, 4pm, Glow for Galactosemia

NMS: Last week, a faithful four decided to resurrect Twin Team after more than a month. YHC threw his name on the Q sheet to help ensure Twin Team stays alive. Arrival was at 5:25 and the parking lot was empty. At 5:29:30, the parking lot was still empty. Here’s the deal…despite the fact that YHC’s heart was a warm 70 and sunny, YHC had no intention of doing a solo Q with it being 20 degrees. And just when all hope seemed lost, Boberry came flying it hot (with maybe 5 seconds to spare) to save the day. Much appreciated sir…enjoyed the conversation and company this morning.

Enjoy your Friday everyone…peace! And let’s keep Twin Team going!

  • Jingle Ball the Way

A PAX of 9 filled with holiday cheer descended on a chilly SOT. Doozy and Boberry were already eagerly waiting when YHC arrived. With less than 2 minutes to spare, New Market clown cars rolled in along with DK. Here’s what transpired:

    Mosey to bottom of hill.

    Bear crawl to top.

    BTTF for 10 more burpees.

Numbers, names, announcements, YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

-HDHH this evening at Hardywood Westcreek – the rain is pouring as YHC types this so check slack later today to make sure it’s still happening

    – Prayers for a member of Boberry’s family (sorry Boberry, couldn’t remember who) who is pregnant and having gall bladder surgery.

This is year 3 of YHCs advent calendar workout at SOT and the jingle balls are always a nice surprise at door 25. Mumblechatter was pretty heavy today…but seemed heaviest during the jingle balls. YHC admits, 25 of those suck.

Despite all the craziness going on in the world right now, take a moment to find peace during what I still believe is a magical time of year. So grateful for this PAX…you all are part of the reason for YHCs sanity. As always, thanks to the PAX for indulging YHC this morning…it’s an honor to lead.

  • Anything but a hunt for the Twin Team Beast

A small PAX gathered at Twin Team this morning for a beatdown that went something like this:

Mosey to the swamp parking lot for COP:

SSHs, DQs, Russian Soldiers, Helicopters, LBCs, Rosalitas

    Ascending Prostitute Four Corners:

    Using the entire parking lot…

    Corner 1: 10 merkins

Corner 2: 10 merkins, 20 monkey humpers, return to corner 1

    Corner 3: 10 merkins, 20 monkey humpers, 30 2-count flutter kicks, back to corners 2 and 1.

    Corner 4: 10 merkins, 20 monkey humpers, 30 2-count flutters, 40 2-count American hammers, back to corners 3, 2, 1

Quick mosey to what is left of the pull-up bars by the swamp for

    11s:

Jerkins and WWIIs, running to curb and back in between

BTTF, stopping at every light pole along the way for a burpee.

    4 MOM:

Crunchy frogs, Freddie Mercury’s, APDs, HTH

Numbers, Names, Announcements, Prayer Requests, YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

    • HDHH next Wednesday (5ish) at Hardywood West Creek (we hope)
    • 12 Days of Christmas at No Toll on Tuesday
    • Prayers for Gumbo’s sister who is in the hospital with COVID (she has been on oxygen but is improving)

    NMS:

Doozy is known for grabbing the Twin Team Q at the last second and then taking the PAX on a journey up Twin Team to either hunt for a mythical beast or do suicides. YHC decided to do a preemptive strike this week and prevent that from being a possibility.

The 11s today were supposed to be pull-ups and WWIIs but some of the pull-up bars by the swamp have been removed and replaced with nothing (what gives?). With the only remaining bars either too high or too low for pull-ups, an audible was called for jerkins.

With the size of this AO, the PAX also managed to get in 3.2 miles of running. Not too shabby.

Thanks Gumbo and Doublemint for indulging YHC this morning. Always an honor to lead…no matter the size of the PAX.

    Enjoy your Fridays fellas! Peace!

  • “We forgot to pray for your scrotum”

Five regulars and one visitor from the north made their way to the Twin Team gloom for a beatdown that went something like this:

    35 Squats, run a lap

    Short mosey to the endzone.

Repeato to the 50 yard line.

    • November merkin challenge is in full force – we got in somewhere around 110-115 merkins this morning
    • Prayers for Don Draper’s dad and Spit’s aunt who are in the hospital with COVID
    • Prayers for YHCs grandma and family

    NMS:

YHC was looking to get a little bit of mileage in this morning. According to the watch, we got in 3 miles as part of the beatdown.

Nice to have Spit at Twin Team this morning as he continues on his personal tour.

Lots of chatter today. The complaints regarding the wetness of shoes and gloves during the Killer Bs was hilarious.

Today’s title quote comes from OC, who, immediately following COT, turned to Don Draper and said “We forgot to pray for your scrotum.” It really doesn’t get more title worthy than that.

    Have a great Friday everyone!
