  • BroCode

CSAUP training is in full swing and for the third week in a row, MOT hosted 11 studly gentlemen through 4+ miles of brocode running. Lots of mumblechatter. Lots of fun. Thanks Gents!

  • 4 hard & 1 flaccid

A standard Wednesday run turned into 4 SOJ HC’s and 1 Soft Commit for the F3RVA Century on May 2nd-3rd.

The route took us through Walton Park, The Grove, and eventually back up Mt Midlo. We had a set of 4-milers and Three (almost) 5-milers.

Prayers for BoBerry’s B.I.L., Will, and the pax on IR.

    Out.

  • Follow the Dark Gravel Road

Four exceptionally talented runners showed up this morning to take on the toughest MOT had to offer, a race through Salisbury.

The key to success, follow the dark gravel road into Salisbury, Loop around to Oakengate and then head back on Castlebridge until Elmstead. The remainder of the run was a blur as our oxygen-deprived brains were just trying to hold on. Left onto Winterfield and again onto Winterpock. We finished with the Mt Pisgah loop and ended with 5.25 miles. Legend has it that our swift 8:45 pace could have outrun a chubby housecat, but all were sleeping on this beautiful 70&Sunny morning.

Namerama, then a COVID-era COT since Heists family has the stomach bug.

YHC took us out with prayers for Rosie’s trip to Paris this evening, HIMs who couldn’t make it out this morning, and Sad Clowns who need support from all of us.

  • The Last Non-Holiday MOT of the Year!

Warm weather brought the runners but nay a route in sight. Nothing to fret, YHC and Doozy scrambled something together that gave everyone a good workout.

We headed down Mt Midlo, beside the pond, and into the Midlo Mines Park to get our first mile in. We followed the trails into The Grove and left the neighborhood up the big hill that dropped us on Coalfield Rd.

After that, every man for himself back to the flag. We all got somewhere between 4 & 5 miles, then called it a day with the Numberama, Namerama & Share+Prayer to close us out.

  • Last Week

I’ve already forgotten the route and who attended – there were four of us. If you were one of them, let me know. #BigData

  • The Route

It was too cold to explain a complicated route so we went with the next best thing, absolute chaos.

Midlo Turnpike to Salisbury Drive to Westfield to Winterfield to LeGordon to Charter Colony to North Woolridge to Midlo Turnpike and back to Midlo Middle. That makes a 4 mile route. The 5 milers added the Mt. Pisgah loop.

  • The new squirrel

Three average runners and Doozy set off from Midlothian Middle on a quest to tame the mean streets of Northern Midlothia. The route took us through the Old Towne and into Salisbury.

Runs haven’t been quite the same without Tobit, but halfway through the course we identified our new squirrel (the runner who panics and separates from the pack when a car approaches). As we wandered into the Salisbury neighborhood, the most dangerous part of the route was afoot and a speeding car was fast approaching the hairpin turn. Three of us took the inside track on Winterfield Rd to provide perfect visibility for the oncoming commuter; Bullseye darted across the road and turned on a flashlight, daring the driver to choose one side vs. the other.

We all survived and YHC missed an opportunity to throw flak at Bulleye so I decided to call him out here. Tobit, you’ve officially been replaced. You’re welcome.

    Numberama, Namerama

Prayers for Wedding Singer’s good friend who is struggling through what looks like the last phase of his cancer journey. Lift up his wife, 3 young kids, and friends as they walk through this difficult time.

  • It’s Training Season

Lots of deep conversation and mumble chatter as (half) marathon training season enters its final month of 2024. YHC & Boberry got in 12, Rosie got in 9, and Honeymoon healed up and joined for his first long run in months bringing in 6 great miles.

Coffee at Starbucks with the walkers, Duane & Cookie, afterwards.

A few more long runs to go before race day!

  • No One Likes Hills

But we did them anyways, and now my legs hurt.

We headed around the Mt Pisgah. Loop and did the hills twice. That’s when Bullseye decided he didn’t want to do hills so he trekked out on his own. Then we went down Mt Midlo and over to the steady climb up the back side of Honeymoon Hill. We circled back to Mt Midlo where we stayed at race pace for the first half and Bernie Sanders the second half. Finally we ended with a couple sets of suicides and a Bernie up the hill beside the track.

numberama, namerama, yhc prayed us out.

Family camping in 1.5 weeks. Father/daughter dance in 2.5 weeks, chili cook off in 5.5 weeks. Prayers for Heist’s neighbor.
