  • Hot Potato, Party of Three

YHC missed the memo about the clown car to New Kent, as he arrived at Dogpile at 0550 to find nobody around except his 2.0s home from college. With potatoes warming in the oven, here’s what went down.

Warm-a-rama – mosey to the amphitheater for Imperial Walkers, SSHs and Motivators

The Thang – Doublemint takes the potato to the Ha’ Penny Stage. Finding no coupons, except for a small shard, we pivoted to Touch a Tree – Pax 1: coupon shard curls, Pax 2: air squats, Pax: 3 runner (Round 1: 6 trees, Round 2: 4 trees, Round 3: 2 trees).

Spinal Tap takes the potato back to the amphitheater for some Mary: carolina dry docks, flutter kicks, Freddie Mercuries, American hammers.

    BTTF !

NMMS – it was great to spend some time in the gloom with the 2.0s; looking forward to a few more before the head back to campus next month.

  • Tour de Chad

On October 29, 2018, 43 year old Senior Chief Petty Officer Chad Wilkinson took his own life, leaving behind a wife and two children. Chad had served in the Navy’s SEAL teams for 21 years and was an novice mountain climber. To support veteran mental health awareness, Chad’s wife Sara founded the Step Up Foundation and sponsors a CrossFit WOD in Chad’s memory every Veteran’s Day: 1000 box steps with a 45 lb ruck.

To do our part, the Twin Team Lounge Outreach Committee donated four registration fees to the Step Foundation/Chad1000x and (loosely) followed the WOD this morning.

    The THANG:

Count noses (2 pax) and do some quick math to divide 1000 reps across pax members and beatdown stations.

Ruck up and mosey to the Twin Team Hill cul de sac. Ditch the rucks and mosey of the hill to find a pre-positioned bench.

    • 1000/6 x step ups OYO, alternating incline merkins, dips or lunges p.r.n.

Grab the bench and mosey down the hill to the cul de sac.

      • 1000/6 x step ups OYO, alternating incline merkins, dips or lunges p.r.n.

Ruck up, grab the bench and frogger across Robious Road, back to the flag.

      • 1000/6 x step ups OYO, alternating incline merkins, dips or lunges p.r.n.

2 minutes of dead man hangs and old man stretches. YHC took us out.

NMMS: It was great to catch up with Bullseye this morning. Keep an eye on each other gents – if you see a brother struggling, reach out.

      SYITG!

Numbers, names, COT and YHC took us out. Prayers for speedy and complete recovery for Rodeo Clown.

Naked Man Moleskin(e): it’s been a minute since YHC stepped up to the Q sheet. Life got busy, yadda yadda. But examined in the cold light of day (or in soft glow of a headlamp in the gloom), all of the excuses drift away. Getting back in the saddle felt great, looking forward to doing it again. It was a privilege to spend the morning with you gents, let’s make the rest of the day a great one. And don’t forget to tip your waitress ….

    2. 29 Degrees and Snowy

Having missed CSU parents’ weekend last week due to work commitments, YHC travelled north of Denver to spend the weekend with @Spinal Tap. What better way to start a Saturday in a college town than a beatdown in the snow with the gents of F3 FoCo at Twin Silos Park (AO: Abduction). Here’s how it went:

Mosey to Pavilion for Warmarama: 90 SSHs, 45 Imperial Walkers, 25 Mountain Climbers, 17 high knees

The THANG: Repeato the 90, 45, 25, 17 for four rounds of various exercises

90: (copperhead squats, merkins, Bobby Hurley, sumo squats)

45: (lunges, reverse lunges, step ups)

25: (werkins, diamond merkins, Apollo Ohnos, called for time)

17: (booyah merkins, jump tucks, something else, called for time)

Mosey BTTF for numbers, names and COT.

NMMS: Great time in the snow and glad to see that the HIMs of F3 FoCo are keeping my 2.0 coming back to the gloom! It’s pretty remarkable that you can go basically anywhere in the country and find some great folks getting after it at 05:30.

      Make it a great one!

    3. Back in The Saddle

YHC made his triumphant return to the Q sheet this morning after 12 mos or so on IR. Since it has been a minute, YHC kept things simple.

Warmorama: Imperial Walkers, Helicopters, Cherry Pickers, Don Quixotes, Merkins, Fluteer Kicks, Alabama Prom Dates

      The THANG:

High knees, butt kickers and side shuffle then mosey to the base of Twin Team hill.

Twindigenous Peeps Run up the hill, passing YHC’s iphone back as the baton (Spotify Classic Rock playlist)

      • Top of the Hill: Circle of Mary – 10 x crunchy frogs, box cutters, rosalita dips, heels to heaven, Suzanne Somers

      TPR back down

      • Bottom of the Hill: Merkin Ring of Fire

BTTF for a broga cooldown, announcements and COT.

      Chaplain took us out.

NMMS: it was great to be back on the Q sheet, even if I’m moving a little slower. Prayers up for those of us dealing with family health and substance abuse issues. It was a privilege to lead you gents in the gloom – way to work!

Make it a great one –

    4. Avoid the Noid

Audible called by the pizza delivery driver, so YHC adapted and overcame, delivering burgers, chicken sandwiches and fries. Bread was broken.

    5. Finger Lickin Good

With no M or 2.0s available to assist in the kitchen, YHC decided to curate instead of cook Sunday’s Breaking Bread meal: Publix fried chicken, basil and feta rigatoni salad, fruit salad, iced tea, and cookies-n-cream frosted cupcakes. Plus two bags of nectarines and a bag of tangerines for the week. The residents really appreciate that we are thinking of them, and Barbara sends her regards.

    6. Double the pleasure …

With other River Run regulars posting at bootcamps this morning, YHC had the AO to himself today.

Down to the Swap, over to Robious, hard left and up the Twin Team hill x 2, then BTTF

Quick prayer and on to the day!

    7. Two Up, Two Down

A pair of studs posted to Bettie Weaver ES to pound some pavement; here’s how it went – more or less:

4 mi : Up the Twin Team hill, right on E Brigstock, at Netherfield 180* and BTTF

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

NMMS: Always great to run with Wedding Singer – that *%#! hill is better with company

      Make it a great one!

    8. Weight for it ….

Two respect dudes of various weight classes posted to Bettie Weaver ES for a ruck by the river. Here’s how it went:

Strap on packs/weight vests; BWES to Robious Landing boat ramp to JRHS Swamp to Robius and BTTF.

Numbers, names and YHC took us out.

      Make it a great one!
