    Perhaps thinking it was Grandparents Day at the school, two senior citizens meandered around the campus of Linwood Holton ES for a while in the 97* heat. According to the search party from Westminster Canterbury, here’s how it went – more or less:

    Mosey to a shady spot with a cooler full of ice and bottled water.

    Warmarama: Imperial Walkers x 10, Don Quixotes x 10, Ukranian Soldiers x 10, Freddie Mercuries x 20, Hello Dollies x 10, Flutter Kicks x 10, Crunchy Frogs x 10

    Mosey to the shady side of the school with the cooler; hydrate then:

    11s: 1x Lt. Dan > bear crawl to blue shipping container > 10x 2 ct. shoulder taps > lunge back

    7 of Diamonds: mosey from the cooler to three trees and back, stopping at each for the called rep count and exercises:

  • Do Altarboys Get A Safeword?

    This question roiled deep in the subconscious of TYA and six other truthseekers as they assembled at the Pump House lot for a pilgrimage along the James. Here’s how it went, more or less:

    North Bank to T Pott (or Belle Isle) to Buttermilk – add quarry loop for extra credit.

    NMMS: Great weather for a trail run today, and it was good to run with Hitch as he gears up for his first half marathon. Big thanks to Shakedown for the lead on some new Australian thrash punk, and much gratitude to TYA for helping YHC to get into a suitably reverent frame of mind to serve communion at church this morning . 🙂

  • Powderham Style

    Three O-ish Gs rolled up to Bettie Weaver for some roadwork, and here’s how it went:

    4 mi: up Twin Team, right on Ellesmere, left around the Powderham loop, left on Ellesmere to E Brigstock, Mt Hill loop and BTTF.

    NMMS: it was great to have Wedding Singer out with us pushing through while he’s on the mend.

  • River Ruck

    Two old guys decided to saunter down to the river today; according to the Riverton neighborhood wathc, here’s how it went, more or less:

    Suit up with weight vests and lights, then mosey from Bettie Weaver ES down to the Robious Landing boat ramp, back up to the James River HS stadium and out to Robious, turn left and BTTF.

    Numbers, names and YHC took us out.

    NMMS: It’s always great to log some miles with Doozy, and we were able to join Fliorence, DTH, Fresh Prince and Florence for the tail end of their coffeeteria aftwerword.

  • Riverdowns River Run

    Two grizzled vets gathered in the gloom at the home of the Bettie Weaver Fighting Bluebirds to see what the morning held, and here’s how it went down:

    From BWES, right on Robious, left on Riverdowns S, left on Queen Charlotte and up that big ass hill, right on Riverdowns S, right on Robious, left to the Swamp and JRHS, right on Riverton and BTTF, aaaaand presto: 4+ miles.

  • Up the Hill — One Step at a Time

    Two studs shed the fartsack today and posted at River Run to see what the morning held; here’s how it went down (and up):

    Right out of the Bettie Weaver ES parking lot and cross Robious

    Left at the path and up Twin Team Hill

    Right onto Brigstock — at 22:00 minutes turn and BTTF

    Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

    Tclaps to the runners who recently completed (respectively) the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim and the Petersburg half; prayers and support for those about to undertake the Roanoke half this Saturday.

    NMMS: It was great to meet Soul Train, who has jumped into F3 with both feet. Coffeteria after with Don Draper, Fresh Prince, and Tryhard. Sometimes the biggest achievement is just taking that next step… and then the next ….

  • Senior Moment…

    Two old dudes ran the Reverse Tarrington route and flapped their gums about kids today, bum knees and high fiber diets. One old dude forgot to post the backblast for a few days. It happens …

  • Gran Tour-ino

    Two old dudes shook off their respective vacations with a slow mosey around the Swamp (4x), down to the Robious boat landing, and up around Bettie Weaver ES for some cool down laps. Problems were solved and sage advice was doled out. ‘Nuff said.

  • Flatty’s Not-So-Flat Route

    Two jackrabbits and a clydesdale gathered in the gloom of the Bettie Weaver ES parking lot. Under the most recent guidance, the run was speed-optional. Here’s how it went –

    The Flatline Special: BWES, cross Robious, up Twin Team , right on East Brigstock and keep going – at 22:30 turn around and BTTF. 4.5 miles for YHC; your mileage may vary.

    NMMS: it‘s always a pleasure to run with Doozy and Boberry, and YHC was glad to see their headlamps coming back for the 6 as YHC finally crested the summit of Twin Team. I think therees a lesson in there somewhere. 😉

  • Just Ruckin’ Around

    YHC had to head downrange to Nahf@ck for work, so Shakedown and Gypsy sent along the digits for some F3HR peeps. It was 70 degrees-ish and sunny at The Boathouse AO in the parking lot of the Tidewater Tides baseball stadium, when three gloom warriors gathered to meet the day – here’s how it went down:

    Ruck up (20-30 lbs each) and hoof it for 2.5 miles at a 18:00 min/mi pace more or less.

    Numbers, names, Sunshine took us out.

    NMMS: One of the best things about F3 is finding extended family of sorts no matter where you travel. Rucking was a new experience for YHC; looking forward to doing more of it back home.
