  • In Through The Out Door

The OG Tarrington route is one of YHC’s favorites, and today seemed like a good day to run it in reverse.

BWES to Twin Team Hill, cross Robious and enter Tarrington at Ashwell, run the loop and BTTF.

  • Refractory Period

Eight SOJ stalwarts rolled up to the Forge locked and loaded, and here’s how it went down:

    Warmarama: Mosey to the front traffic loop for SSH x 20, DQ x 10, Russian Soldiers x 15, Freddy Mercuries x 20, APDs x 15, Hello Dollies x 20, Carolina Dry Docks x 10.

    The THANG:

    1. Mosey to amphitheater for 11s (1x Imperial Squat Walker, bear crawl across the grass to the steps, 10 x dips, lunge back, repeato)
    2. Mosey to the loading dock for a Triple Check (Pax 1: run to first light pole and back, PAX 2: donkey kicks, PAX 3: heels to heaven)
    3. IPR (plain vanilla; i.e. no burpees, diamond merkins or eight count bunny thrusters) up to Forest Hill Ave
    4. Mosey to Elkhart MS covered entrance for a Dora (Pace Car: run the loop, Exercises: 100 x merkins, 200 x s.c. American Hammers, 300 x s.c. mountain climbers)

BTTF for some Old Man Stretching

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

NMMS: YHC may have brought the exercises, but Flatty brought the mumblechatter this morning and it was strong, both in terms of breadth of topics and volume. Upshot is it only takes Lamar Jackson 15:00 + OT to mount a comeback, but for middle-aged pax, “it takes a day to reload.” YHC is hoping for a speedy recovery from tomorrow’s hernia repair — no coupons for a while 😉

Make it a great one, and SYITG soon I hope!!

  • Over the River (Twice) and Through the Woods…

Some posted at 6:30 and ran 10, some posted at 7:00 and ran 7ish +/- Some ran on two legs, some ran on four. Some ran in silence, some ran with YHC. All were better off for having done it.

    Make it a great week!

  • Tarrington Triplet Team

A trio of studs kicked the week off right with a tour of Tarrington and some quality time on Twin Team hill. Here’s how it went:

    BWES toward the river and the back entrance of Tarrington;

Right on Riverton Right until the roundabout, over to Sheffield and up to Ashwell

Left around the Ashwell loop, then left again to Robious

cut through the path onto Powderham Lane/Old Robious

down Twin Team; back up Twin Team (!), and down again

    BTTF

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

Announcements: HDHH, Puppy Pile and Field Day all coming soon.

NMMS: it was great to run with Splinter and Corned Beef this morning. Splinter’s watch said 8.2 miles and it sure felt like it going back up that Twin Team hill at the end.

    Make it a great one!

  • Ain’t No Party Like a Two-Lap Party

…’cause a two-lap party don’t stop. At least, that’s what was reported by a pair of SOJ stallions at River Run this morning. Here’s how it went.

    • Mosey from BWES to the Swamp (800m)
    • 4 x 800m at speed, 400m recovery
    • Mosey BTTF (800m)

Prescribed mileage is 4, adding a 400m intro and another 800+400 lap gets you to 5.

numbers, names, announcements, YHC took us out.

NMMS: it was great to run with Singer this morning. The track can be a tough one to do OYO, so it’s great to have some mutual accountability and support out there to prevent track-sacking.

    make it a great one!

  • It’s All Downhill from Here ….

Three road warriors shed the fartsack this morning to start the week with a run by the river. Here’s how it went:

    • Up Twin Team Hill, right on Brigstock
    • Brigstock to Mt Hill Drive, tale a right and run the loop into Brigstock again
    • Left on Brigstock and out to the top of the Twin Team Hill
    • Down to the cul-de-sac and back up Twin Team Hill [this part sucked. Big time]
    • BTTF along Robious and behind BWES – cut through playground for time

Numbers, names, Boberry took us out.

    Announcements:

    • Thanks offered for Boberry’s new digs and the PAX who helped him move

NMMS: YHC was grateful for the company this morning. Holding each other accountable and pushing each other to be the best versions of ourselves is what F3 is all about.

    Make it a great one!

  • Lovin the McNubbin

    Lovin the McNubbin

Twenty superbad dudes posted to Spider Run looking to score. With rumors of a house party back in the hills, they hatched a plan and off they went:

4s – UofR Drive to River Road Shopping Center; up Kanawha and back, up Panorama and back, up Highland then up and down the East Highland McNubbin and back to the flag vis River Road Shopping Center and UofR Drive.

5s – same as 4s but skip the McNubbin and go up Old Ridge, up Highland again to River and back to the flag via UofR Drive. See slide 3 of the PowerPoint

6s – same as 5s, but after Old Ridge, back down to Westham Station and take Ridge around to Westham Parkway, then back to the flag via University and past the baseball fields. Or whatever your 6 Mile Spidey Sense tells you to do…

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

NMMS – Way to work on those hills, gents. It was great to see EF Hutton getting after it. Welcome back Sippy Cup and Jack Sparrow.

    Make it a great one!

  • Tarrington for Two

Two grizzled vets posted to River Run to put in some work. The Twin Team hill beckoned, but with age comes wisdom, so the PAX decided to sneak up on it from behind. The Tarrington Loop was called, with a bonus lap around BWES at the end to round out the mileage to 5+. Many thanks to Doozy for coming back to pick up YHC on those rolling hills.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

    Make it a great one!

  • All Shirts, No Skins…

Six stallions arrived at Hillcrest to find it 63 degrees and partly cloudy. Some came early (“no really, don”t worry; it happens to a lot of people”), some came late, all came ready to get down. And back up. And down again. And back up with some wheezing at the end.

No sun, no guns, and at the secret 05:00 pm start time, off they went.

    1 x long loop, 1 x medium loop, 1 x short loop —- more or less.

    SYITGloaming ….
