  • It’s Dogpile……you need to lock your car.

10 fairly tough, middle aged dudes fought off the pull of the fartsack to post at RVA’s finest AO for a Fudd inspired beatdown. Here’s what transpired, more or less…..

Plant the flag and mosey to the field in front of the Carillon. Line up on the baseline and start jogging north at a slow pace….switch to buttkickers, high knees, karaoke facing East then West, then Bernie Sanders, then stop about 3/4 of the way down. Turn around and start lunging back, after a while face east and start lunging sideways back and forth while facing east, then west, then east, then skip back towards the Carillon to the baseline where we circled up for COP:

SSH’s, Merkins, WW2’s, DQ’s, arm circles, Imperial Walkers, Hillbillies

Mosey to the Rusty Cage, but stop halfway around and either plank or follow Fudd while he runs back to his vehicle because he forgot to lock it. Fudd and gang return, pick up the plankers, and then mosey to the Cage for 11’s……pullups and WW2 situps next to the 2 trees that are on the way to the fire hydrant.

Mosey to the wooden stage behind the Carillon to retrieve coupons, then mosey to the amphitheater for some block work:

    • Each PAX ascends the amphitheater steps, stopping to do 1 manmaker (blockee with an overhead press at the end) at each level on the way up. Stop at the top level and plank for the 6
    • Descend and do 2 squats with block on every level. Plank at bottom for 6.
    • Ascend and do 3 block curls on every level, Plank at top for 6.
    • Descend and do 4 block swings on every level……do flutter kicks while waiting for the 6.

Take the blocks back to their home under the stage. Mosey to the fishbowl, Crawl bear down the hill, do 20 merkins OYO at the bottom, then bear crawl up the other side. Mosey back to the flag for Mary:

    • Freddie Mercuries, Hello Dollies, Flutter Kicks, LBC’s, Crunchy Frogs, finish with 2 rounds of Supermans

Numberama, Namerama, Announcements, Prayer Concerns, YHC took us out.

    NMS

Mumblechatter was fairly high today which is fairly standard with a Fudd Q. Perhaps the 3 year hiatus in CO has folks wondering if Fudd remembers how to Q? When we started the warmup by running down the field, the PAX were highly skeptical as COP had not been accomplished yet. Equilibrium was restored to the world when YHC finally finished that evolution and declared that COP would take place and promptly started the SSH’s………I guess you can’t have a proper beatdown in F3RVA without SSH’s in the COP. Who knew?

The PAX were quite vocal with their moral support of YHC at other times today……they were very appreciative when planking while YHC mosied back to his car to lock it, and were also very happy that YHC searched so earnestly under the stage for the blocks (they had been moved to a different corner).

TClaps to Wilson, Honeymoon, and Oyster for making the trip across the river. Wilson posted while hoping that we wouldn’t run too much. He lucked out today as Fudd is trying to rest his leg a bit from the PT work he’s been doing as part of his recovery from the stress fracture. It was great to have Bleeder out and glad to see he’s on the mend somewhat from his various ailments. TClaps as well to EF Hutton for doing the Breakfast Club mosey Lone Ranger style. Circle K was kind enough to stop by COT while on a hike with his dog and Gomer Pyle joined us for coffeeteria at Libby Market as he is nursing a torn miniscus.

    Announcements:

Dec. 18th – An evening with Honeydo at Fudd’s house (9605 Gaslight Pl)

Dec. 24th – TYA Q at the Bridge. Several Clown cars are being planned.

    Prayer concerns:

Kudzu’s (Fudd’s son) friend Emily is recovering from surgery

Remember and be in prayer for those that are hurting this holiday season, those that are depressed, and those battling addiction. The holidays can be a hard time for many folks.

Great job today fellas! It was an honor and privelege to lead, as always.

    Never stop chasing the wabbit!

  • Noises in the gloom…..

Temps were a bit milder this AM with 52 and clear with no wind. Perfect conditions for a beatdown. 9 HIM left the comfort of their vehicles to circle up on the asphalt for a Fudd Q with KB’s. Here’s what happened:

COP – SSH, Don Quixote, Yoga poses, Merkins, Crunchy Frogs, Arm Circles, Hillbillies

Mosey to the back parking lot for a Farmers Carry Beast between the lampposts.

Exercises – KB swings, Goblet squats, Curls, Overhead Press, Tricep Extension, Romanian Deadlifts

Mosey back to the flag and get into groups of 3 for Triple Check: Counter runs a lap around the loop, 2nd and 3rd men do alternating clean/press and American Hammers.

Circle up near the flag for Mary: Flutter kicks holding KB extended, V ups with KB, LBC’s, Freddie Mercuries

Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out.

NMS: Mumblechatter was relatively high today, mostly from one PAX member who will remain nameless, except to say that he is named after a certain type of antlered animal. Guidance on form began before the COP even started, but quickly died off once we were 7 or 8 reps into the SSH’s. In retrospect, it is encouraging that Q’s are held to a standard at this AO…..what would F3RVA come to if things were otherwise? Interesting comments aside, if one could be compensated for flatulence this individual would be a multi-millionaire. After asking if everything was OK from a medical perspective…..did he need me to buy him some Mylanta on the way home?……. YHC was assured from multiple PAX that this was just another Thursday morning in the gloom at Circus Maximus. Thank you boys……noted.

The PAX performed admirably today, and while this did not reach the pain threshold of an Offshore Q, the level of observed perspiration indicated a decent beatdown was experienced by all. Thanks for letting me lead fellas.

    Fudd out.

  • Unmentionables in the gloom

11 dedicated HIM set their alarms a bit earlier than normal to come together and talk about things that probably should not be repeated in polite company. According to the bats in the church bell tower, the following may have occurred:

Mosey from the VSF to the brick pavers in front of the entrance to the Baptist church for COP, consisting of 45 SSH’s, Deadman Hang, Downword Dogs, Merkins, Don Quixote, Arm circles (big then small), & Hillbillies

Mosey back to the parking lot to pick up coupons…..1 for every PAX. Mosey to the middle of the parking lot for parking lot circles with the block. We all did overhead press, curls, and block swings followed by overhead carry, lunge, and reverse lunges for a full circuit of the lot.

Mosey to the grassy triangle with blocks for a circuit of murdered bunnies. Start at the southern end of the triangle and murder bunny north to the first tree, jog back to the start and do 5 merkins, crab walk back to your block and murder bunny further north to the 2nd tree, jog back and do 10 merkins, then bear crawl back to your block and murder bunny north to the 3rd tree, jog back and do 15 merkins, then lunge back to your block and murder bunny the rest of the way to the fence, jog back and do 20 merkins. We did Al Gore for the 6 after each leg.

Mosey back to the parking lot to return the coupons, then mosey back to the bricks in front of the church for birthday burpees and abs. Do 1 burpee, then an ab exercise, then 2 burpees, another ab exercise, on upward to 9 burpees so we did 9 sets of ab exercises….usually 20 reps IC of each. Ab exercises included: Freddie Mercuries, Hello Dollies, Flutter Kicks, Dying Cockroaches, Crunchy Frogs (I think?), American Hammers, LBC’s, and something else. Once completed, mosey back to the VSF for numberama, namerama, and YHC took us out.

    NMS:

YHC rolled in hot today with about 2 minutes to spare prior to launch. Several PAX expressed having doubted whether YHC would show and seemed to be quite relieved that they did not have to pivot to a hot potato. YHC was happy to be there to celebrate (belatedly) his birthday F3 style. For those that weren’t aware, YHC was out of town this past weekend, enjoying time at family at a location that will remain nameless. All I will say is it was an island and there was a beach.

YHC was appreciative of the moral support during the birthday burpess/abs session. There was some confusion as to which ab exercise a “crunchy frog” actually is, and the PAX was very gracious in letting YHC know that the exercise that I thought was a “crunchy frog” is actually a “dying cockroach”. YHC ran over the total workout time by about 2 minutes and again, the PAX were very understated and kind about how they let YHC know about that as well. Everyone seemed to be appreciative of the extra time needed to complete the 45 burpees each to celebrate YHC’s birthday.

Mumblechatter was at an all time high today, with several stories and comments that would make a lady of the night blush. Next time you see EF Hutton, ask him about precocious puberty……or maybe don’t, especially if you’ve just eaten. Splinter had some choice analogies with regards to arm circles…big then small…..full then partial. I’ll let your imagination fill in the rest.

OOTW involved activities that kids sometimes walk into unexpectedly that they could go through their entire lives without seeing and be the better for it. Once seen, some things in life cannot be unseen. Properly engaged locks are an often underappreciated blessing.

Coffee afterwards was enjoyable as always and it was great to have BT join us following WDog. It seems Hitchiker’s absence resulted in a lack of caffeine post workout that sent the PAX looking for alternate sources. Glad to accomodate boys! #FirstWatch is 30 minutes earlier but Starbucks is right down the street.

YHC is thankful on this, his 45th birthday, for the 8 years he has been involved in F3. These friendships have sustained me during some really hard times and you also helped me build maybe the most robust shed that has ever been raised in RVA. Thanks for everything boys!

    Fudd out.

YHC posted to Urban Assault in Winston Salem on 8/19. Super pumped to pick the day they attacked the hills of downtown. Backblast posted on F3WinstonSalem.com is below:

    IPC is Coming (Maybe?)

    Date: 8/19/22

PAX: Fudd (from Richmond), Wobegon, Crash, Gretel, Lamb Chop(!), Spicoli, Post Hole, Greenspan

    Warmrama:

SSHs, Leg Stretches, Whirlies, Abe Vigodas, Cherry Pies, Let’s Go!

    The Thang:

Mosey up to 6th Street where our hilly journey was clarified.  We would mosey west on 6th Street, stopping at each red light for an IPC-lite exercise.  Stops along the way yielded:

    • Hand-release Hurpees x 10 (which, really, is 30 merkins + 10 burpees)
    • Bonnie Blairs x 25
    • Bonnie Blairs x 10
    • Side-straddle hops x 50
    • WW2s x 25

Lamb Chop exercised his mouth along the way, petitioning a turnaround as he apprehended where we were headed.  After a bit farther mosey down Pilot View, YHC acquiesced and we moseyed back towards home.  Left on Jersey, and back up 4 ½ street, right on   Along the way, we performed:

    • Merkins x 30
    • Burpees x 10

Upon arrival at home, the cup check:

    • Merkins x 5 at mid, low, high, mid, wide, mid, and diamond hand positions each

    Finished.

    Announcements:

    • The Shmed 5k and FunRun, August 28th. All proceeds to benefit Crisis Control.  Sign up at https://runsignup.com/Race/NC/WinstonSalem/Shmedfest.
    • Spicoli has Q at Impossible Situation tomorrow.
    • Opportunities to serve with both Giles’s move and GreenNest tomorrow.

    Prayer Requests:

    • People struggling with addictions.
    • Lamb Chop’s M’s pregnancy.

    NMM:

    • The theme was moseys with IPC-type exercises intermingled based on the timing of traffic lights, i.e. fortune.
      • Lamb Chop asked when IPC was so he could be ready to mock and complain.
      • In a turn of concern, the F3 Greenwood website is down. It would be terrible if they couldn’t get the dispatches out on the 2022 version of their torture rack.
    • Post Hole debated on coming this morning based on the “hills” pre-blast. He was a happy he conquered the sack.
    • Fudd is on his way from Richmond to Asheville for a meeting and stopped in Dashland. He’s been training for BRR and it showed.
    • Wobegon got YHC out for an EC run where we commiserated on the fun of the West Virginia Ragnar last weekend and dreamed on how to deepen the DashPax’s 3rd T-claps to the Na’ntan.
    • Spicoli rolled in on Spicoli Time but in time to join us for the critical stretching portion of the warmups.
    • Crash was having memory problems, thinking that he had been on Pilot View at previous UA Q by YHC; it was in fact a Flatline Q, which is half the distance that Bailey Park is, but still worth forgetting.
      • The goal was to reach Hanes Park before turning around. We’ll have to try again next time.
    • Gretel was the quiet man this morning, just getting it done without any whining.
    • YHC’s cadence on Abe Vigodas was a little aggressive initially. I dialed it back to a more reasonable pace.
    • We intersected a couple of OGs (Lemming and Woodpecker) around Foot Hills on the return trip to Bailey Park who comment that “You boys are a long ways from home.” They didn’t know the half of it.
    • A great regret was not getting to the 50 pull-ups YHC had planned. #Cobains.

Great job, men.  Everyone have a good weekend.

Post Hole, the keys are on Pilot View; they popped out with YHC’s phone.

    POST AUTHORGreenspan
  • Westham mosey

14 HIM posted to Spider Run this AM for a taste of Badwater through Westham. Temp was 77 with Houston, TX level humidity. Here’s what I remember happening:

YHC gave out directions for a meandering run Up Lakewood to Wood to University, where the 4 milers were supposed to pick up Sunset for the run through Westham down to Lakewood, Hollins, Woodberry, then a few more turns back to the VSF. The 5 & 6 milers were supposed to take Westham to River then back to Sunset with the 6 milers diverging to run past Kanawha before hitting Lakewood to pick up the same route north through Westham that the 4 & 5 milers had already taken. While some of the runners followed directions, others took wrong turns, either intentionally for various reasons, or unintentionally. Thankfully everyone made it back to the flag for numberama, namerama, and COT. YHC took us out.

NMS: When YHC was envisioning this run, it didn’t sound THAT complicated. However there were multiple comments suggesting that today’s route had more turns than any other in Spider run history. I’d have to defer to #BigData on that one. Noted for the future, however. While today did suck due to the heat and humidity, the PAX dug deep and performed admirably. Proud to run alongside you all. Thanks for letting me lead.

    Never stop chasing the wabbit.

  • What is pain?

5 HIM posted on time at 45MOM (and one LIFO joined us about halfway through) for a strenuous Fudd beatdown. Here’s what occurred:

Warm up lap around the block

Disclaimer then COP in the field:

    SSH x 20

    Merkins x 10

Deadman Hang, then again with alternating leg crossovers

    DQ x 10

Line up on the south end of the field for further warmup while moseying back and forth (North, South) across field………high knees, butt kickers, karaoke, backwards jog, lunges, elbow to instep lunge, then bear crawl to the fitness track.

Triple Check/Four Corners……3 rounds….run 1 lap around the track per round, stopping to do assigned exercises in each corner

    Rd 1: Squat x 10, pullups x 10, HTH x 10, Dips x 10

Rd 2: Merkins x 10, Hanging leg raise to bar x 10, alternating toe touches x 10, hanging lat pulls

Rd 3: Partner up for partner carry. Teams alternate carrying each other while stopping in each corner to do LBC’s x 30 then Flutter kicks x 30 then repeato until done.

Mosey to the field for 11’s…..burpees and V-Ups…….Started with 10 burpees and 1 Vup and ran out of time once we got to 4 burpees. Moseyed back to the shovel flag for Numberama, Namerama, COT. YHC took us out.

NMS: Humidity and anticipation were both high as Fudd posted for his second Q following his return from CO. Banter started early as it always does when TYA and Fudd are together, and the rest of the PAX seemed happy to join in as well….glad to be free of the fartsack for one more day in the gloom. YHC heard a wise man once say that “Pain is weakness leaving the body.” Pain was indeed felt by all this morning as YHC never wants a PAX to post to one of his Q’s and leave feeling like he did not get a good workout. TYA questioned whether the first evolution was a triple check or a four corners…..YCH believes it was both. Bodos showed up around 5:53am just in time for Round 3. This gave us 6 PAX which allowed YHC to audible to partner carry, which pleased all PAX to great lengths. #TCLAPS to Bodos for having the balls to post anyway, despite the partial fartsack and ensuing late arrival. #TCLAPS as well to Pre for running everywhere despite his avowed dislike of all things running. Anthrax and TYA both were moving like greased lightning, causing YHC to second guess their AARP memberships, and Seymour and Bodos were giving YHC a run for his money during 11’s. In short, everyone put out, felt pain, and became stronger because of it.

Prayer requests: Seymour has a new dentist starting in his practice this week….prayers that this person brings high moral values and excellent skills. Prayers for men under the age of 30 which seems to be the demographic for recent mass shootings. Prayers that F3RVA can have an impact in this community, reach not only men under 30 but all #SADCLOWNS that need this brotherhood. “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” James 5:16

    Never stop chasing the wabbit!

  • Back in the saddle

16 of Virginia’s finest sons (some native, others transplanted) posted in the pleasant pre-dawn gloom to participate in something that F3RVA has not experienced for at least 4 years…..a Fudd Q. Here’s how it went down:

    The Thang:

Circle up in the grass of the horseshoe for COP

    SSH x 30

    Don Quixote x 10

    Dead man hang

    Leg crossover stretches

    Various Yoga poses

    Merkins x 15

Mosey to Trinity UMC for Triple Check:

Rd 1: P1 wall sit, P2 plank, P3 run a lap around the church

    Rd2: P1 bttw, P2 flutter kicks, P3 run a lap

    Rd 3: P1 burpees, P2 crabcakes, P3 run a lap

Kubota gave us a 20 count, then mosey to the front of the church for the Tunnel of Love. Started at the main church doors and tunneled our way towards Rock Creek until we got to the 2nd hydrant. Splinter gave us a 10 count and we then moseyed back to the VSF for 8 or so minutes of Mary:

    Alternating V ups x 20

    Flutter kicks x 30

    LBC’s x 20

    Imperial Walkers x 20

    Plank for 2 minutes

    Merkins x 15

Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out

    NMS:

It was great to be back in the saddle, Q’ing a workout in RVA once again. Oyster pointed out that YHC’s watch is slow…..maybe that’s a legacy from Colorado mountain time. Noted Oyster…..we’ll get started on time at my next Q! It was interesting to see how the intervals between dudes in the tunnel of love magically got significantly wider once the ending point was revealed as the second fire hydrant. Also noted for the future.

YHC appreciates the showing today for his 1st RVA Q in a long time. It was great seeing some of the same faces that have accompanied my F3 journey through the years. YHC started with F3RVA in early Oct. of 2014 and it’s pretty incredible to think about how far this group has come in the last (almost) 8 years. Countless lives have been changed and the ripple effects from the men we have affected for the better continue to extend out and touch places and people that we may never see or know. I love the fact that we change men’s lives for the better. When you change one man’s outlook…..when you change his attitude, his countenance, his confidence……. you change the lives of everyone he loves, everyone he interacts with, everyone that shares even a small portion of his time on this earth. I’m addicted to the belief that we change the world a little bit every day…… in ways that many of us will never truly know.

Thanks for coming out to support my return fellas. Stay on the lookout for men that could benefit from this life. Have the courage to ask them to join us.

And never stop chasing the wabbit!

  • RAAM – option rich today

Here were the options for the 35 studs that came out for Fudd’s last Q before he heads to big sky country on Sunday:

    • Ultimate Frisbee
    • Run the Carillon route
    • Run your own route
    • RAAM gears

Meet back at the VSF at 6:15 for Numberama, Namerama, and COT with a touching and much appreciated prayer from Bodos to take us out.

    NMS

YHC decided yesterday that he wanted to have fun at his last Q, and there aren’t many workouts that are more fun than Ultimate Frisbee. Today’s game did not disappoint, despite the fact that Lab Rat showed up with his team already picked and all wearing white shirts…..was it a coincidence that all of his teammates were tall, skinny, and fast as greased lightning??! So it was the white shirts vs. the colored shirts and the final score was 12-7. HOWEVER, the colored shirts did win the only time period that really counted (per the Q), the 3rd period, by a score of 2-0.

Not sure of all of the running routes today but Vinny and some of the other early risers did 7.5 miles. Well done fellas! YHC would have considered biking today but my road bike is already in CO. For those of you willing to travel to Denver (direct roundtrip flights are about $450 on United from RIC or like $100 round trip from DCA), YHC has a sweet guest suite that you are welcome to stay in with killer mtb trails right outside my front door and the front range about a 20 min. drive away.

Thanks for posting to my final workout today fellas, and for all the memories over the last 5 years. It’s been one hell of a ride. If you start tearing up thinking of RVA with no more Fudd, console yourself with the knowledge that I will be back…….

    See you in the gloom.

  • Fudd’s Swan Song

21 of Richmond’s finest posted in the hot and sticky gloom to what will be YHC’s last 45MOM Q for quite a while. For those of you that didn’t know, YHC is moving to Colorado this weekend for good. Dubbed by TYA as “the longest goodbye in the history of mankind”, YHC wanted to end things where he started……at 45MOM. YHC’s first every F3 workout was at 45 MOM on a Thursdy in October 2014. The exact date escapes me……do Big Data’s records go back that long? Orville was the Q that day and it was quite a beat down. YHC’s goal was to duplicate that workout to the best of his memory (with some slight modifications), and here’s how it went down:

Start of the Merkin timer: Slurpee set his watch on timer mode to go off every 5 minutes. Throughout the workout, the PAX stopped whatever they were doing every 5 minutes to do merkins in cadence, the number of which would depend on the Q. We did 15 reps the first three sets, which really equals 30 merkins if they were OYO, and then 10 reps the rest of the sets until the last one, during which we did 15. Total count for the workout was 120 (240 if they were OYO).

Indigenous people’s run south to Cary St., turning right and then right again to go around the field, then circle up in the grass for COP. Everything was in cadence:

    • Tron Squats x 15
    • SSH x 30
    • Merkins x 15 (2nd set of timer)
    • Circle Planks x 15
    • Scissor/Flutter kicks x 15
    • Don Quixote x 10

Line up along the baseline on the west side of the field for Leapfrog: partner up with someone of similar size. The first man gets down on the ground in a ball on his knees and the 2nd man leapfrog’s over his back. Do this across the field to the East side.

Tunnel of Love back across the field to the West side.

11’s across the field from West to East and back. Exercises were Burpees and Tron Squats. Shortened the width of the field to halfway around 6:08 and called an audible when the clock got to 6:13 to mosey back to the flag. One final set of merkins at 6:15 and then numberama, namerama, and YHC took us out.

    NMS:

YHC had more planned for today’s beatdown but was not able to accomplish it all. Everything seemed to take longer today than YHC anticipated and I’m not sure why? The field seemed wider than I remembered, and that allowed the PAX to get in an extra long portion of the the Tunnel of Love. Perhaps the merkin timer was to blame? Regardless of the reason, the PAX gave it all they had out there, and YHC was proud to lead this fine group of men one last time. When the Tunnel of Love was announced, YHC reminded the PAX that he was the first to bring that exercise to RVA, and Rosie mentioned how much he enjoyed it and how he hoped YHC would be taking that to Colorado with me to share with the PAX in Denver. Don’t worry Rosie……the PAX of F3Denver will be enjoying the Tunnel of Love very soon. 😉

Kudos and TCLAPS to the entire PAX for leaving it all on the field today. The merkin timer was a smoker, especially when it went off while doing burpees during 11’s. Big thanks to Slurpee for serving as official timer.

The PAX of F3RVA has meant more to YHC than I can express, either in the spoken or written word. I will certainly miss you guys, but hopefully you’ll see me again as we still have family in town and will be visiting periodically. Until then, Fudd bids you all Vaya con Dios.

    Announcements:

    • HDHH at Independence Golf Course tonight for drinks, food and a band. See Gumbo’s recent backblasts for details.
    • YHC will be Q again tomorrow for RAMM and we will be playing Ultimate Frisbee. There will be running routes for those that would rather run on the roads.

  • 1,472 days of Fudd

33 Warriors posted to Dogpile to celebrate another glorious day on this earth as well as a last Fudd Dogpile Q….for a while at least.  Here’s how it went down:

Mosey to the Ampitheater for COP:

    SSH x 30

    Don Quixote x 10

    Merican x 15

    Freddie Mercury x 20

    Crunchy Frog x 15

Arm Circles forward then back, x 10 small & 5 big

Mosey to bottom level of Amphitheater for ascending 1472’s:  while ascending the amphitheater levels from the bottom, do the following on each step…..1 burpee, 4 incline merkins, 7 Tron squats, and 2 decline merkins.  Repeato on each step/level to the top, touchdown Al Gore in the circle while waiting for the six.

Mosey to Burpee Lake for a 1472 continuation tour around the lake.  Running clockwise around the lake, stop at each lightpost to do the following:  1 burpee, 4 crunch frogs, 7 LBC’s, and 2 SSH’s

Mosey to the Carillon field for a Tunnel of Love followed by a Bridge of Hate.

Mosey back to the flag for Numberama, Namerama, Announcements, and YHC took us out.

    NMS:

Anticipation was high today as most of the PAX were expecting this to be Fudd’s last Q in Richmond.  Rumors have been swirling for some time now as to when Fudd would actually be moving.  Now that he has a contract on his house, the rumor mill has picked up in its intensity.  Is he moving next weekend or waiting until next summer?  Is this his last Q in RVA or just his last Dogpile?  No one seemed to get answers that satisfied so instead we went to watch Kubota do 15 burpees with Vinny closely observing.  Time quickly evaporated and 6am was suddenly there, and off we went.

YHC had never done a COP in the Amphitheater, and it did not disappoint.  Swirly is right……there’s nothing quite like hearing the PAX in cadence calling out SSH’s to start out the day.

Fudd’s first F3 workout was on Oct. 2nd at 45MOM……1,472 days ago.  In honor of this being Fudd’s last (?) dogpile Q for a while, the workout theme of 1,472 carried the day.  Both the amphitheater evolution of 1,472’s and the Burpee Lake 1,472’s lasted quite a while so that by the time the PAX started to mosey back towards the flag from Burpee Lake, there was only 10 minutes until 7am.   Just the right amount of time for a quick tunnel of love and bridge of hate on the field.  Fudd made sure the PAX did the tunnel of love “by the book” which involves having each PAX face another man across from them and lock arms, and then assume the squat position.  Each man pairing up down the line in this fashion creates the tunnel that the PAX each takes a turn or two crawling through.  We made it to about the 50 yard line before YHC called an audible because we needed to do a bridge of hate.  Fudd was the first Q to bring the tunnel of love to RVA as well as the Bridge of Hate.  The tunnel of love was a success but the initial BOH was not.  YHC heard many complaints for weeks after that and it has not made another appearance since, until today.    After hearing of F3 Hampton Roads having success recently with the BOH, YHC couldn’t let this opportunity pass to give it another try.  This iteration seemed to proceed with more success, and it was truly hilarious to watch each of the PAX get transported down the line via each of their brothers raised hands while listening to the colorful comments being thrown about.

YHC has been blessed beyond measure to have been a part of F3, mostly because of the friendships he has made but also because of some awesome experiences along the way.  Regardless of whether it happens next week or next summer, Fudd and his family will indeed by leaving the RVA area to settle somewhere else for another adventure.  In recognition of that transition, YHC wanted to leave the PAX with something special to remember him by, other than just the BOH.  So he read his favorite quote of all time to the PAX just prior to the BOM today.  It was spoken by an Indian Chief, Tecumseh, who was a warrior chief of the Shawnee nation:

“So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart.  Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours.  Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life.  Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people.  Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.  Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place.  Show respect to all people and grovel to none. When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living.  If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself.  Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.  When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way.  Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”

Peace be with you my brothers.
