  • A crew of two

The night before there were no messages exchanged between the usual Breakfest Crew peeps, so YHC was curious who would be there. Upon arrival YHC discovered it was only us. We ran, we chatted about nothing of major note, it was nice.

Prayer requests: Slipping Jimmy lost his mother a couple weeks back. Prayers for his father losing his spouse 1 month shy of 51 years.

  • Honeydo, where are you?

A group of 7 men gathered for a 4th Friday Bro Code run. Gomer texted earlier this week saying he’d be out of town, so Handshake grabbed the Q. We completed and “out back” run. Here was the route: Mosey to behind the school to the trail over to Maremont Drive, right on Willowick, left on Windbluff, right on Raintree, left on Gayton, right on Gayton, right on Gaskins to Westhampton Memorial Park for a small loop around on of the sections of the Cemetery. Reverso.

Announcements: Memorial Day Convergence at Tredegar Monday at 0700.

Prayer Requests: with Memorial Day on Monday prayers for those who have given their life in the service of our country.

NMS – It was a nice morning with the Crew. It was nice to see Greenbow out. Blue Moon used Currahee as a nice pre-run for his training. During the run YHC found out Pinto’s mother and Sprinters grandfather are both buried at Westhampton Backblast title comes for Honeydo’s text yesterday saying “Up for running 4.5 tomorrow” and then he was a no-show. Not sure if he meant with us or not, but I look forward to seeing if he showed up at RAMM.

  • Handshakes Mile(s)

A dozen of the West Ends finest gathered for a Heartbreak Ridge beatdown. However, what they didn’t realize is we’ve reached the time of the school year where nobody learns anything so we went for a Field Trip. A quick COP then off Campus we went. Ever quarter mile we stopped for 10 Merkins, 15 LBC’s, and 20 SSH’s, about 1/2 through we switched to 10 Merkins, 15 WWII’s, and 20 Squats). The route was: Quioccasin west to Gaskins. Gaskins north to Della, Della east across the path and continued on Della to Pemberton, Pemberton north across Quioccasin to the DMV Parking Lot, then DMV Parking Lot to east on Quioccasin east to West End Presbyterian Church (YHC’s Church) then west back to Quioccasin to the Flag. 3.44 miles by YHC’s watch.

Annoucements: 3rd F tonight, check slack tonight at 8:00, Offshore with the Q. Memorial Day Convergence at Tredegar, 7:00 on Monday morning.

Moleskin: In the 3 years YHC has been involved in F3 nobody has ever done an off-campus beatdown, YHC wanted to change that. YHC felt it went well, there was only one spot on Gaskins that cars went past while we were doing Merkins/LBC’s/SSH’s that gave YHC a little pause, but the other stops we stepped up off the sidewalk and into the grass. Thank you all for allow YHC to mix it up.

  • Yes, it did happen

4 cool guys had a Saturday run before Dogpile two weeks ago. YHC was slow to post this backblast, but it was a beautiful morning for a run. The crew ran past YHC’s first house over by Maymont.

  • Who wore it best? Scorpion Kick Edition

7 burly men met for a weekly Heartbreak Ridge beatdown and this is what transpired

COP – lots of stretching and 3 rounds of Scorpion Kicks. A survey was taken to determine which Scorpion Kicks were better: Inverted or Regular, YCH says the ground voted for Inverted.

NMS: Nothing major to talk about today. YHC has a certain plan, but when Atilla wasn’t going to make it YHC put that option back in the filing cabinet.

  • Tuckahoe Hot Potato

13 fierce men joined for a beatdown. As of 5:10 AM there was no Q on the sheet. It appeared the previously signed up Q had to relent, so a Hot Potato ensued.

NMS: It was a nice working today, cool but not cold. It was good see Angus out again, as well as seeing Crash Test Dummy for the first time. YHC loves a good Hot Potato.

  • Breaking Bread, literally

Faceplant and YHC were happy to have been compelled by Upchuck to participate in this opportunity to give back. Ironically it happened be the same day at VMI’s first playoff appearance in school history, so we could take the opportunity to do a “double dip”

YHC and family rallied at Faceplant and family’s home to prep the meal and watch the game. It was a good opportunity for Faceplant and YHC’s family to see and hear about giving back to others.

Food was made, food was delivered, and hopefully we brought enjoyment to the recipients. Faceplant and YHC took the opportunity with our families to break bread and talk about the “good ole’ days” at The Mother I. The kids had a great afternoon together, so did the M’s.

  • Table for one, please.

    Table for one, please.

A group text went around last night and it appeared there would only be two for Breakfast Club, when time came there was only one. YHC waited a few minutes and rolled out. Typical route out and around the lakes.

On the return journey Corned Beef volun-told Hash to run with YHC. it was good to chat with him and hear about his experiences his Freshmen year at George Mason. With the exception of VMI not having his desired Major Hash almost said he regretted not going to VMI, apparently misery with company is better than misery alone.

Thanks to Hash for the company.

  • No pill needed

It was a beautiful Wednesday morning to post OTB with The M and this is what transpired

Running Boot Camp, WTH style. After a defined period of time 4 exercises were completed: 10 Merkins, 20 Squats, 30 LBC’s, 40 SSH’s in a repeating fashion until 45 minutes and 3.5 miles was completed.

NMS – YHC’s parents offered to take the kids overnight and get them to school the next time, it was a great relief to spend some time with The M. She asked last night if YCH wanted to workout with her, and I obliged. YCH suffered through waking up at 0700 and not 0440 and no pills were needed unlike a Hutton Q. Needless to say it was a great morning with The M and plenty of calories were burned.

  • Solid surfaces are not your friend.

11 men launched with the hopes of keeping dry and this is what transpired

Mosey around the track to the far side of the field, enter the field for COP of misc. exercises. It was then determined that running on the field with Blocks was not advisable *denial number 1*

Mosey down to Heartbreak, closer to the school for the normally drier area. Too damn sloppy. *denial number 2*

Mosey up the the raised field for a semi-sloppy/frozen Four Corners. Compounding Four Corners with Merkins, Squats, LBC’s, and SSH’s, then descending.

Mosey to the Tennis Courts, complete icy mess. *denial number 3*

Mosey up to Pemberton Elementary and shuffle across the parking lot and the back asphalt to the covered Bus Loop.

Buss Loop Partner work: P1 runs to the far end while P2 does and exercise. Rotate and work one pole back each round to get to the stop.

Mosey back to the front of Quioccasin Middle, watch Ronnie run and pounce onto frozen Asphalt and almost kill himself.

Touch a tree, 2 rounds: P1 touches 10 trees P2 does Dips, rotate. Second round P1 touches 5 tress P2 Incline Merkins.

Mosey back to the flag for a quick ring of fire and it was 0615.

NMS – YHC had a couple things planned but between black ice and wet ground it was a day of audibles. YHC appreciates the Pax’s tolerance of a lot of improv. The quote of the day was, “this is how you melt the muffins off.” YHC isn’t sure how many times Gomer said it, but it was more than 3 and less than 6 times. Thank you for to the Pax for coming out to celebrate YHC’s 37th year.
