  • Twenty two on the 22nd

2 Davillians escaped the fartsack to hoist some iron on a cool, misty morning.

COP– one lap around the bus loop, then SSH, DQ, helicopters, LBC, HRM, Russian soldiers

    The Thang

1st set of 11’s-skull crushers, lunge to other curb, goblet squats

2nd set of 11’s-sit up press, walk to other curb, bicep curls

    2 minutes of stretching

numberama, namerama, YHC took us out

YHC almost didn’t escape the fartsack this morning, and ran about a minute late to the AO, finding a lone car there upon arrival. Since neither YHC nor Mr. Holland had taken the Q, it became a hot potato, thus the 2 11’s, equaling 22 on the 22nd. Mumblechatter was about sentinel events in our childhood, for YHC it was the Challenger explosion, for Mr. Holland, 9/11. We also delved into the value of bunk beds to bring siblings closer together–deep thoughts….

We agreed that we never regret coming to F3, the only regret is the days we miss it.

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing….

  • Sweating with the oldies

8 gentleman showed up to YHC’s guest Q at Circus Maximus, put in an appropriate amount of effort, both with their kettlebell and their mumblechatter. Here’s how it went down.

COP: SSH, DQ, arm circles, Imperial walkers, merkins, LBC’s, helicopters.

Main event: Start at 1st brick column in bus loop, 5 snatches with right arm, waiter carry to 2nd column, 5 snatches with left arm, waiter carry back, repeat increasing to 10, then 15 reps each arm. Repeat with following combo exercises, advancing 2 columns each time: cleans and squats; demon crushers and situp press; lawnmowers and halos.

Mosey back to parking lot for boat canoes, Chewy style, stretch for 3-4 minutes, numberama, namerama, Attila took us out.

    NMS

YHC wanted to get down to Circus this summer, it’s been too long between visits. The mumble chatter did not disappoint, starting as soon as YHC and Mudface arrived to find White Deer waiting, with the rest of the PAX arriving soon after. Mudface introduced the 4th F during COP, with other members contributing. PAX crushed the workout, and it was great to see some familiar faces and meet a new one (Homer). Hope to be back sooner rather than later!

  • How much oil do you need to get the job done?

5 men came to work out and have a good time on a frosty Friday morning. COP: SSH, cherry pickers, Russian soldiers, LBC’s, merkins, DQ, helicopters, Imperial walkers. Mosey to center of parking lot for proper Dora.

Partner bear crawls to corner of lot, new corner each time, other partner does: 100 lunges, 200 LBC’s, 300 SSH.

Mosey to courtyard for escalating 4 corners, running in between: 10 merkins, run, add 20 single count mountain climbers, run, add 30 jump squats, run to start, add 40 Freddie Mercurys.

Mosey to parking area by buses for suicides: running to first island, then Opus’s car, then last island, on returning do 10 dips, 20 2-count American Hammers, and 30 single-count shoulder taps.

Mosey to flag for 5 minutes of stretching, numberama, namerama, 6th man, YHC took us out.

It seems resting YHC’s sore knee hasn’t made a difference, so have been trying to get back to F3 again, and given YHC’s pattern of not showing up on Friday’s, decided signing up for the Q would at least ensure an appearence. YHC is SO glad he made it, because from the COP on, mumblechatter was at a different level, in both a great and disturbing way. Much of it should not be put into print, suffice to say it started with the YMCA, a basement room with a single lightbulb, and being given a rigorous proctology exam….YHC was laughing so hard at times he was unable to exercise for lack of breath. Thanks for a great time this morning, gents, it was such great fun I didn’t notice my knee as much!

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing…

  • Frozen Rainbow

4 men and YHC’s 2.0 braved a frigid Wednesday morning to hoist some cold iron.

Mosey to front of school for COP: SSH, merkins, LBC’s, Imperial Walkers and helicopters. Head back over, pick up our KB’s and straight into a triple check. Timer ran around the drop off loop, rest of PAX alternated b/t halos and situp presses. Once complete, PAX headed to grassy area for Don’t Drop the Soap (hold KB out at full arm extension for as long as possible), lunge to second lightpole and back after dropping it, 3 sets.

Mosey back to drop off area for form check workout: do 30 reps each of swings, tricep press and goblet squats, all at one half to three quarter speed, paying close attention to technique, the slower the better.

After the PAX completed this, YHC led them in stretching for the last 5 minutes.

Numberama, namerama, YHC took us out.

    NMS

YHC’s 2.0 has been asking to come to a F3 workout for a couple of weeks, and so of course YHC fulfilled that request on one of the coldest mornings of the year. Prior to heading out, YHC asked Rainbow to stand outside for a few seconds to test if she was warm enough–got a thumbs up, so off we went.

Within a few minutes of arriving, Rainbow was being encouraged to not listen to the Q and being told she did the exercises better than YHC, so, pretty typical mumblechatter. It was indeed a pretty cold morning, and the PAX was always appreciative of the chance to run instead of holding onto cold metal. As always the PAX was encouraging to the 2.0, she held her own while learning some new exercises, and YHC was very proud of her effort and results.

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing….

  • Gloves and cards don’t mix

A beautiful fall morning brought out 4 Davillians ready to kick start their day. Here’s what went down. Mosey to blacktop with a lap around to COP.

COP: SSH, LBC’s, DQ, Zombie Russian soldiers (Q mistake/invention named by Mr. Holland), mosey to middle of school for Workout Deck fun. Exercises were as follows: 3 sets, 20 reps, of merkins, flutter kicks and monkey humpers; 4 sets, 10 reps, of squats, SSH, and high knees; 3 sets, 10 reps, of American Hammers, plank jacks, and merkins, with a backwards run to other side of courtyard and back in between sets; 5 sets, 5 reps, of low, slow squats, shoulder taps, freddie mercurys, and 10 second plank; and last, 3 sets, 10 reps, derkins, calf raises and hand clap merkins.

Mosey to flag, 10 merkins, numberama, namerama, YHC took us out.

    NMS

YHC’s work and home life has been a lot busier of late, so didn’t have time to compose a workout–no problem, I have the wonderful Workout Deck! The cards can be great, but a Q should still have more of a plan than YHC had (none) and gloves, cold weather and slick cards make choosing and figuring out things a lot more time consuming. Tclaps to Mr. Holland for consistently choosing Aces, YHC does not want to play poker with him; to Opus for knowing all the random songs we talked about, along with the right time for a good polka; and Mudface for NOT listening when YHC called out the exercises, leading to multiple repetions of what is next. To be fair to Mudface, the total lack of a plan was confusing at times. Even with that, a good time was had by all, with mumblechatter about whether a Sharpie can mark a ballot (consensus was yes), 80’s bands (Eurythmics, anyone), and other stuff YHC can’t remember 24 hours later. For the Merkins challenge, total count was 160. Thanks for letting me lead.

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing..

  • Hot for teacher, now go ahead and JUMP!

A Pax of 5 made it out on a beautiful cool morning to hoist some iron and try to graduate.

    The Thang

COP: SSH, DQ, arm circles, Imperial walkers, LBC’s. Mosey to bus loop for Billy Madison. Start out with 1 exercise (1st grade), 12 reps, run the loop, repeat first exercise, add 2nd exercise for 2nd grade, run loop, repeat until you have added 12 exercises and graduate MANNdate school! Exercises were: lawnmowers, halos, demon crushers, curls, Helix squats, tricep extensions, situp press, lunges, cleans, flutterkick press, side lunges, and American Hammers.

Mosey to SF, numberama, namerama, YHC took us out.

    NMS

YHC found this idea on the F3 website, thought it was a nice variation for a ladder workout. Trout and Bulkhead led the group by getting through 8th grade, but not quite starting high school, while the rest of us were stuck in middle school. YHC had Van Halen playing in the background to honor the passing of Eddie Van Halen, one of the best guitarists of the 80’s and 90’s. There were a lot of Adam Sandler movie references this morning, along with 1 Deniro movie, still not sure how that came up. Trout provided the 4th F to motivate the Pax to finish their reps and run.

Announcement: Spit is collecting shoes to contribute toward Gypsy’s charity drive, so if you have any extra shoes (not sure if it’s just kids, or adults and kids, check the pre-blast for details).

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing….

  • Non-runners only, please

3 men showed up to ‘run’ around and workout on a rainy Friday morning.

    The Thang

Slowsey to blacktop for COP, SSH, helicopters, DQ, LBC’s, Imperial walkers. Slowsey to parking lot for 4 corners. YHC stole this version from Gypsy. Start in middle of parking lot, 10 SSH, run to first corner of lot, 40 calf raises, return to middle for another 10 SSH, second corner – 40 sumo squats, third corner – 40 toe taps, fourth corner-40 flutter kicks.

Mosey to middle of school, partner up, nobody wanted to be Mudface’s partner so he went solo. Switch off between teams, first team lunges while second team completes exercise then runs to catch first team, switch off until both teams complete all exercises. These were 20 each of American hammers, LBC’s, merkins, boxcutters, and Superman.

Slowsey to flag, do an exercise then run to and from where buses were parked, next exercise. These were 20 each of Alabama prom dates, shoulder taps, split jacks and Bobbie Hurleys.

Numberama, namerama, YHC took us out.

    NMS

Much of the Daville PAX is competing in the Colonial 70 run tomorrow, so many of The Creeks usual suspects were resting up, and those in attendance enjoyed the slower paced workout. Mudface introduced a different, harder version of flutter kicks and named them, but YHC is hesitant to put that name on a backblast. Just ask Mudface. Was great to catch up with these two, and all stuck around for 20 minutes discussing our wish that people on different sides of the political spectrum would more often engage in civil discussion of issues, instead of insulting each other. That being said, Yardsale’s version of Alabama prom dates is still pretty disturbing, but YHC said this to him in a civil manner! Kidding aside, was great to have exactly that kind of discussion, would be interesting to do at a 2nd F gathering.

Thanks for letting me lead, as usual I have No Idea what I’m doing…

  • Stinky Fish

4 men showed up, most of them on time, to break a sweat and build some bonds.

COP: SSH, helicopters, DQ, arm circles, Imperial walkers.

    The Thang

AMRAP, 3 sets, each set 10 minutes (except the last, which was 5 minutes due to lack of time).

Set 1: 10 reps each, lawnmowers (10 each side), technical lunges (10 each leg), swings, and sumo squats. Waiter carry KB around loop when time is up.

Set 2: 10 reps each, demon crushers, tricep presses, goblet squats, and cleans. Farmer carry KB around loop when time is up.

Set 3: 10 reps each: calf raises w/ KB, American hammers, squat to reverse lunge, and halos.

Numberama, namerama, YHC took us out.

    NMS

Trout started off the gasworks during COP, and was a steady contributor throughout, with YHC occasionally pitching in. Mumble chatter included Trout giving us insight into some truly demented podcast that he either A) listens to, or B) hosts from his house when his family is gone. It was a little unclear, but suffice to say he seems to have a good idea what a Cleveland Steamer is, and thanks to him, so does the PAX. We are NOT the better for it…

Good work was put in by all, and it was great to lead again. YHC’s ability to Q was again questioned, No Idea why.

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing….

  • Sweatshop

3 sleepy gents made it out to The Anvil to amble around and occasionally exercise.

COP: SSH, DQ’s, arm circles, flutter kicks, Alabama prom dates, then a few minutes of stretching.

Mosey to the hill at back right of school for 11’s: merkins and Alabama prom dates, run the hill in between.

Mosey to soccer field, cross the longer part of the field by: lunge 10 steps, 10 plank jacks, bear crawl 10 steps, 10 jump squats, repeat to the field’s end.

Mosey to playground for triple check, derkins, LBC’s with partner running to soccer goal and back. Mosey back to the flag, finish up with a few minutes of stretching.

Numberama, namerama, YHC took us out.

    NMS

YHC has become aware that while F3 has helped with strength and endurance, flexibility is not better, as evidenced when his 2.0’s tried to have him do a backbend with them, and YHC didn’t come close. F3 is great for many things, but flexibility should be a bigger component, so YHC worked on that today. The PAX crushed the workout, and YHC’s memory was confirmed of how much it sucks to run that hill. Mumblechatter revolved around Virginia’s plan for when schools reopen and vacation plans. Thanks for allowing me to lead!

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing…

The whole crowd was respectable this morning, with Wild Thing leading the way. It was great to meet Dark Web, who first posted on Memorial Day–good luck to him in his Grow Ruck event next week, and hope you keep coming back. During COP, prior to doing Don Quixotes, all YHC said was “in honor of Emoji” and everyone knew what was coming. Looking forward to seeing Emoji and other F3 brothers return, when they are ready. Mumblechatter this morning included whether or not vacations would happen this summer and the difficulty deciphering fact from fiction about COVID-19. Thanks for letting me lead today, men!

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing…
