  • Sausage Fest

A Lucky 13 gathered this morning at the earliest known workout in F3RVA land. Today’s mission was to start decorating for Christmas. Rewards would follow, but first….

    COP on church patio:

Dead Man Hang, Reach for the stars, SSH’s, DQ’s, Helicopters, Ukrainian Soldiers, Inverted Scorpion Kicks, 1.5 Pencil Rolls, Regular Scorpion Kicks, LBC’s

Mosey to the main parking lot for:

Cut down your Christmas Tree (Touch-A-Tree)

Touch 2 trees, partner does Flutter Kicks

Touch 4 trees, partner does Squats

Touch 6 trees, partner does Box Cutters

Next, we have to decorate our tree:

Round 1: Partner 1 Wall Sits while other partner runs and gets strands of lights, switch up

Round 2: Partner 1 Ballz 2 the Wallz while other partner runs and gets tinsel, switch up

Round 3: Partner 1 Donkey Kicks while other partner runs and gets ornaments, switch up

Then, we have to put candles in our windows:

Round 1: Partner 1 tries to reach the church windows via Dwight Howards while other partner bear crawls out and back, switch up

Round 2: Partner 1 keeps trying to reach the church windows via Dwight Howards while other partner lunges out and back, switch up

Round 3: Partner 1 has to replace the light bulbs in the candles via more Dwight Howards while other partner reverse lunges out and back, switch up

Now that the house is decorated, we need to mosey over to the fence and run some garland around it.

Keeping same partners, 3 rounds of exercises while partner runs around the fence, switch up. PAX may or may not have almost broken the beautiful fence in Henrico’s Tiniest Park.

Time to take Santa’s reindeer out for Christmas Eve night:

With same partners, 1.5 rounds of wheelbarrows to the tree on the right and back. Switch as needed.

Time for Santa to throw his sack on his back and deliver toys: Partner Carries across the park and back

Audible! No, that’s not happening. We are too old and big for Partner Carries.

Head over to the guardrail for 4 rounds of Bernie Sanders out and back while partner does Dips, Incline Merkins, Decline Merkins, Dips. Switch up for each round.

Mosey back to the VSF and circle up for Mary

Santa just got home and is looking forward to Alabama Prom Dates with Ms. Claus.

Not satisfied, Santa does Pickle Pounders with Ms. Claus.

One minute of American Hammers to finish it off.

    NMS:

This is either the 4th or 5th year of First Watch SZN of GVN. Each year it seems to start earlier and earlier. I am happy to do this to share my gratefulness to the First Watch PAX for helping me start a 5am workout 6 years ago in order to help me get out and post when a 5:30am workout interfered with my wife having to go to work very early in Western Hanover. YHC changed it up this year and spiced it up a little. Enjoy the treats, men, and lets share our giving hearts with all this holiday season. Make giving contagious! Two more spots are open for SZN, 12/24 and 12/31. Upchuck has the Q next week!

    Happy Thanksgiving F3RVA and SYITG!

  • 45 Minutes of White, Powdery Fun

    Eight boot campers and two walkers met and then dispersed at 0530 in the white, powdery gloom this morning. This is what went down after Bodo’s woke up the neighborhood with his Volvo horn;

Slow, cautious mosey around to the NW corner of the schoolyard for:

COP: DMH, Reach for the stars, DQ’s, Arm Circles, Imperial Walkers, Russian Ukrainian Israeli American Soldiers, Merkins

    head over to picnic tables and complete: 10 x dips, 10 x step-ups, 10 x dips, 10 x step-ups, 10 x incline merkins

Mosey over to the main school entrance and partner up for:

    Lunge/Squats switching with partner

Reverse Lunge/Lt. Dan’s switching with partners

    Bearcrawl/Jump Squats switching with partners

Head over to the Triple Check area for: not a triple check

    Partner up for:

Run to fence and back/LBC’s and switch

Side Shuffle left to the fence and back/WW2’s and switch

Side Shuffle right to the fence and back/Heels to Heaven and switch

Mosey over to the field and partner up for Touch a Tree:

Partner 1 touches one tree on Cary Street, partner 2 does DQ’s and switch. Oyster doesn’t listen and goes towards Westmoreland.

Partner 1 touches two trees on Westmoreland, partner 2 does something else and switch

Partner 1 touches three trees on Commonwealth, partner 2 does Suzanne Somers and switch

Partner 1 touches four trees on Grooooove, partner 2 does Burpees and switch

Mosey to the corner of Cary and Commonwealth for Burpee Rd

At each streetlight increase by one burpee. 36 Burpees #MABA (I saw a smile on Bodo’s face)

Back to the flag (an actual shovel flag, not a VSF) for stretching and Mary

Numbers, Names, Announcements and Honeydo took us out, twice.

    NMS:

Fun times in the powdery snow this morning! Not much laying on the ground action, your welcome! Oyster now knows the street names around Mary Munford. #SOP ruled this morning, at least until the walkers returned. No one got cold until the group picture.

Thanks for putting up with me for two days in a row! I’ll try it again in Feb. 2026

  • 11 to welcome the snow

Eleven Disciples (Judas wasn’t there) arrived on dry roads to First Watch only to leave on slippery roads after. Once Handshake made the even group of ten turn into eleven (like he likes to do) off we went on a mosey around the church, stopping for speed bump burpees. Once we arrived in front of the church at the normal COP area, the wind decided for us to move to the eastern side of the church building’s brick wall.

    COP/11’s combo

Perform 11’s of Carolina Dry Docks and Reverse Squats Crunches in between the normal exercises of a standard COP

Mosey over to EF Hutton’s hill for a:

Dora: 100 x WW2’s, 200 x Merkins, 300 x Squats. Timer up the hill to the lamppost and back

Mosey a ways and settle down for 50 x LBC’s

Mosey a ways and settle down for 100 x Single Count Flutter Kicks

Partner up in and get back up the hill. One partner bear crawls, other partner does 10 Hand-Release Merkins. Catch your partner and swap.

After a nice 20 count where we watched Hutton and Wojo continue the routine about a quarter mile ahead of us, the slower pax caught up to them.

Partner up at the tip of the triangle for 2×20 PLT’s each partner

Mosey back to the parking lot and circle up for a:

Burpee Shuffle (a small mutiny was forming). About 4 Burpees were done before Hitchhiker called time. About 10 Burpees were done before the actual Q called time.

Numbers, Names, Announcements and Wojo took us out!

    NMS:

It was cold and everyone left right away for coffee. Lot of complaining about being on our backs in the snow. Also, the 200 merkins in the Dora. That’s why you partner with Last Call. Hutton and Wojo are still bear crawling towards the North somewhere.

    Thanks for coming out!

15 thankful men beat the fartsack and “greeted the dawn of a new day”(-Patton Gleason, Hardywood, 40-something)

At the end of the workout, everyone’s “cups were full”(-Christian Craft, Flatline, 40-something, almost 50)

Circle up on church patio for:

COP: SSH’s, Invisible Jump Ropes, Arm Circles F&R, Freddie Mercuries, Inverted Scorpion Kicks, Ball Lickers (just because Saab was there), Regular Scorpion Kicks, 3 Burpees OYO

Mosey to the large parking lot for:

    Build-a-Burpee Four Corners, Bro-Code:

    Corner 1: 40 Kick-Outs

    Corner 2: 30 Jump Squats

    Corner 3: 20 Merkins

    Corner 4: 5 Burpees

That was fun, lets run it back!

    Team up for a:

Fake News Thanksgiving History workout tomorrow at 45MOM!

Welcome to First Watch virgins, Saab and Wedding Singer! Glad you could join! Saab told the Lentil/Chick-Pea joke again for those that haven’t heard it before and for those who have heard it many, many times. Also, Saab has strong thighs. If you ever have to partner with him for Wilson’s Boxing Cockroaches, be prepared! O-Face exercise from Fudd was a good one. The workout started out with exercises that YHC hates doing and then realized that YHC hates them all.

Enjoy the Holiday Season and remember, this is the SZN of GVN. Enjoy the gifts responsibly and YHC will SYITG!

Also, 87% attendance at coffee after the workout!

Kubota “abides”(-John Crabtree, Saab or Sabb, 59)

  • 5 Years for First Watch

Six strong and one weak teamed up for the 5th anniversary of First Watch and YHC’s 7th F3 anniversary. After Last Call was left scratching his head on who the Q was, this is what happened:

Mosey to the patio in front of the church for:

    COP:

Dead Man Hang, Reach for the Sky, DQ’s, Helicopters, Jazzercises, LBC’s, Suzanne Somers Left, Flutter Kicks, Suzanne Somers Right, Alabama Prom Dates, Plank up for a couple minutes while YHC attempts to tell an abbreviated history of First Watch.

Staying in plank position, YHC tosses the potato to Honeydo who graciously has the PAX perform merkins x 10 in cadence.

Recover and mosey to the truck for coupon collection.

Mosey with coupons to the itty bitty tiny park and partner up for:

    Sit-N-Press x 20

    Then, partner up for a:

DORA: 100 x block thrusters, 200 x bench presses, 300 x Alabama Softball Players. Timer runs to traffic light and back. To YHC, this looked like it hurt.

Keeping same partners, perform three rounds of Block The Plank (always a fan favorite)

Honeydo tosses the potato to EF Hutton.

Mosey back to the far end of the parking lot and get new partners for:

Touch-a-Tree x 4 rounds. Exercises were Curls, Overhead Press, Tricep Extensions and Block Burpees

Hutton tosses potato to Handshake for the last five four minutes after a voluntary slow 20 count from Last Call.

Put all coupons back in truck except for one.

Circle up shoulder to shoulder in an outward facing direction for a new routine called the:

Circle Twerk. Pass coupon around the circle a few times to the left and then to the right in order to get Last Call’s body symmetrical. then do a couple curls and overhead presses while passing the coupon. Non-coupon holding PAX hold squat position. After a couple rounds of this, time is called, thank God.

Numbers, Names(all normal name deliveries except for one unmentioned pax member who used to be the Nan’tan), Announcements and Gomer Pyle took us out!

    Announcements:

Tuckahoe Triathlon is in preliminary planning stage

FW SZN of GVN starts last Wednesday of November, unless Lockjaw wants to start it on November 20th!

Millennial of the Week needs to come back, but may need to be changed to Gen Z’er of the Week

Gomer Pyle is Quinquagenarian of the Week

    NMS:
