    PreBlast – RollerCoaster/HDHH 4/3/2019

We will be moving the Wednesday April, 3rd Roller Coaster hill run to the parking lot behind Palani Drive (401 Libbie Avenue). We will meet in the parking lot and have a hard start at 5:30pm. We will then run up and down some nearby hills and then retreat back to Palani Drive for HDHH! If you cannot make the run, please join us at the restaurant. Runners should be back by 6:15pm or so. This is the week of most public school’s Spring Break. Also, there is outdoor seating at Palani Drive, which will be key for those that don’t smell good after a run. This will be good training for BRR 2019 (the running part and the beer drinking part afterwards.) See ya there!

  • Hoedown Hot Potato

One tractor, one car, one extreme J-E-T-S fan, one stock brokerage firm, one brand of vodka, one plate full of garbage/food and one secret agent attacked a hot potato at Hoedown this morning.  All the other regulars must have stayed up late watching the media circus crush the little girl from CBS trying to interview Brady after the game.

    Here’s what we did:

    10 x Merkins

    20 x LBC’s

Complete 2 x 10 side to side jumps over Elbow Planking partner (each partner) then Wheelbarrow up Lindsay about 49 yards

Al Gore and throw the potato to Saab

    Saab Q:

Mosey to the Asphalt Abyss for:

    11’s:

Start on one end of asphalt and complete 10 Box Cutters.  Run all the way to other end and complete 1 merkin.  Backward run back to the start and complete 9 Box Cutters and so on and so on and so on.

Saab throws potato to Fireman Ed

    Fireman Ed Q:

Mosey to the cafeteria wall after a few fake-outs and partner up

One partner wall sits while other partner runs the horseshoe.  Three time through.

Mosey back to flag for a Merkin Ring of Fire.  10 of your favorite merkins.  Great job to Conspiracy on the clap merkins.  Time up!

    NMS:

Great work by all this morning.  A lot of running for a Hoedown Q (2.1 miles on my Garmin).  Saab ran to and fro the AO.  It was great having Loose Goose post at Hoedown.  One of the longest and hardest 11’s that anyone can perform.  Very little mumblechatter.  The Super Bowl was not Super enough to talk about.  Beautiful morning and great group of guys working hard together.  That’s about all you need.  Have a great week to all and See You In The Gloom!

Whitedeer still owes this PAX and AO a backblast from 1/10/19

    NMS:

YHC didn’t sleep the best last night because it felt like his VQ all over again.  He didn’t want to oversleep and wasn’t exactly too comfortable with exercise names.  When YHC arrived at the AO this morning, he planned on reviewing his workout which was scratched on a piece of notebook paper, but the Planets, Moon and Stars were to cool not to stare at and take pictures of (YHC gets distracted sometimes.)  PAX started rolling in around 0525 and stayed in cars for a couple of minutes to make sure the heat was blowing on their KB’s on their vehicles floorboards.  HoneyDo brought his inside last night to stay warm.  YHC wonders if he brought it to bed and made M HoneyDo jealous??  Johnsonville’s KB spent the night outside on his porch YHC thinks he heard him say.  Something about Whitedeer leaving it there.  Atilla’s KB may or may not have been dressed like Kenny from Southpark overnight to stay warm…Atilla sure was dressed like him!  It was quieter than usual this morning without Keymaster and Whitedeer playing their instruments.  A PAX of 5 is hard for YHC to figure out sometimes especially when he had a Triple Check and a Dora planned, but we made it work.  Chum Bucket has really been putting in the work lately.  He ran from Punisher to Roller Coaster last night to meet up with the Roller Coaster crew to get in some miles.  Well done!  Also, two were in standard #SOP this morning.  Felt good!

YHC cannot thank the guys that posted this morning enough for coming out in these conditions for his KB VQ!  It’s always nice getting a KB workout in ever other week.  Hope you all have a great day and YHC will see you in the gloom!

Have I mentioned yet that Whitedeer was not there???

    NMS:

“Show you can lead a team to victory and you will have shown you can positively influence your followers and organization”    -John C. Maxwell

YHC would have added “Family” to the end of that quote, but nonetheless, John C. Maxwell makes great points about leadership.  This Pax is the “team” that he speaks of and we are looking for nothing less than “victory” when we wake up early, post to workouts and lead by example.  We have so many great leaders among our group and the best way to show that and to get it out of you is a “Hot Potato” Q.  Some may be getting tired of these since we have now done two in a row at Dogpile, but YHC thinks that they are among the hardest to lead and they are freakin’ hard workouts!  Back to back Hot Potatoes have given a lot of different Pax members a chance to bring out their leadership skills.  Everyone has to be ready and has to bring their “A Game” with them, because you never know what you are going to have to do, for example, Yoga!  I mean, just look at Lab Rat’s leadership.  He took a chance with this Pax by calling out Yoga and everyone listened and did what he proposed (though there was some Mumblechatter, it was mostly quiet.)  Again, if you did it correctly, it was hard.  If not, then hit Love Hill!  It was great to have Soot with us and to lead us.  Thank you for your service, young man!  Also, thanks to ABBA and Tobit who agreed to take the potato and lead by example.  Thanks to Oyster, Malpractice, Opus and Bodos for calling out cadence and to Swirly and Dr. Try Hard for keeping things going in between exercises with planks and other exercises.  HoneyDo has shown his leadership skills in taking the reigns of Growruck.  Let’s try to support this and him as best we can!

Man, isn’t it great to LEAD!  To see others following you and doing what you propose is a great victory for you and a great victory for the team of F3RVA.  If you haven’t Q’d yet, what are you waiting for?  We WILL follow you and it WILL help you in all other aspects of your life.

    Side notes:

Welcome to FNG’s Soft Serve and General Flea.  Soft Serve was formerly (Olaf) but was changed on the flag run back to ET’s.  He likes all things hard, so there you have it!  General Flea is a Civil War re-enactor and bassist, so there you have it!

Breakfast Club Run had 9 strong this morning and 5 shovel flags flying.  (Kubota, Swirly, Flatline, Lab Rat, Vinny, Soot, Shakedown, Hardywood and Ollivander)  Come join us!  It’s a great experience!

Ruck Crew had 5 strong this morning (Spit, Marmaduke, Honeymoon, Recall, Sippy Cup)

Extra credit it there if you want it on Saturday mornings!!!!

All, I enjoyed leading this Hot Potato Q this morning and hope you have a great rest of the weekend!

  • Roller Coaster 6-Pack

6 studs attacked the hills of TYA’s hood on a pleasant Wednesday evening.

First up was TYA who completed 2 big loops and 1 small loop for a little over 5 miles.

Next to post was Swiper who completed several small loops only to finish the evening with a big loop for a little over 6 miles.

Husky and YHC rolled in next and rucked 2.25 miles

Last but not least was Swirly and Vinny who completed 1 big, 1 medium and 1 small loop for around 5 miles.

Nice crowd for a Roller Coaster run in the middle of Winter.

  • Hoedown year in review

12 strong decided to send off the 2018 gloom with a tour of Westham and a review of the year of Hoedown.  5:25am and Phonics appears and surprises everyone with the “cross-town” trip.  5:28am and Mr. Holland arrives one minute early.  5:30am and it’s time to mosey to the front of the school for:

    COP:

    Don Quixote x 12

    SSH x 31

    Copperhead Squats x 20

    LBC’s x 18

    12/31/2018

Mosey down Ridge Road to the Trinity Methodist parking lot.  There were two VQ’s at Hoedown this year.  Fireman Ed had one of them.  Fireman Ed is a J-E-T-S fan and their record this year was an improvement on last year’s 3-13.  They went 4-12 this year.  So Fireman Ed got to choose 4 sets of 12 of something.  They were merkins with a burpee in between each set, so you had to get up in between the sets.  Well done, Fireman Ed.

Mosey down Rock Creek Rd to a right on Baldwin Rd and come to a halt in front of Marv’s house.  VCU won last night and have improved their record to 9-4.  So Marv got to choose 9 reps of something and 4 reps of something else.  They were 9 burpees and 4 hillbillies.  This stop had nothing to do with the Hoedown year in review.  We just stopped because it was Marv’s house.

Mosey down Baldwin to Westham and stop at stop sign.  Hoedown had an FNG this year that has really stayed the course and has accumulated 168 posts in 2018.  It was Handshake.  Handshake was not present, so Phonics got to choose the exercises because he came the farthest distance this morning.  16 2-count mountain climbers and 8 2-count Freddy Mercuries were performed.

Mosey south on Westham and stop at Beechwood.  The other VQ at Hoedown for 2018 was YHC’s.  YHC is a Reskins fan and at Hoedown we usually perform burpees equal to the number of points the Redskins score the day before.  Well, you can’t do ZERO burpees, so YHC went with their record of 7-9 and we performed 7 hand release merkins and 9 WW2 sit-ups.  One burpee for Mr. Holland being one minute early this morning.

Mosey down Westham to a right on Hillsdale and approach Lockjaw’s house.  Lockjaw had the most Q’s at Hoedown this year (9) so we did 4 sets of 9 box cutters with a burpee in between each set in front of his house.

Mosey to a left on Lakewood and stop at Westham.  YHC did not know this, but we were at Pucker’s house.  Pucker was still inside in the fartsack.  The average attendance at Hoedown this year was 12.  So we partnered up and performed 4 sets of 12 plerkins each partner.

Mosey north on Westham to the other Hillsdale intersection and stop in the median to complete 25 Tron jump squats in honor of Fudd who finally moved out of his house down the street.  YHC wanted to make it down to his old house and perform them in the yard, but time was not in our favor of making it that far.

Mosey up Westham to Lindsay Dr. and stop.  There was a CSAUP earlier this year that Team DRM (Tuckahoe) won in blowout fashion.  Hoedown in Team Tuckahoe’s home base, so PAX lays down and with legs straight out spells “COMPLETELY STUPID AND UTTERLY POINTLESS”  One Burpee for Gomer Pyle breaking his foot at Hoedown earlier this year.

Mosey back to TES and get in teams of three for a favorite of many Q’s at Hoedown, a triple check using the bus loop.  P1 runs loop, P2 does flutter kicks, P3 does donkey kicks on cafeteria wall.

COT, Numberama, Namearama, Announcements and Gomer Pyle took us out!

    Announcements:

Convergence at Heartbreak Ridge tomorrow at 7am!  YHC voted for 5:30am but was overruled.  Now YHC cannot attend because he has to leave at 7:00am to go to Williamsburg for the day and go shopping with the M.  5:30am would have been better!  Who cares if you are still hungover.  HA!

Gomer Pyle is going to Honduras in a couple of weeks for a mission trip.  Please donate if you can to help his team out.  If you would like to donate, shoot him a message and he can tell you how.

Swiper’s Birthday is today.  HBD Swiper!

    NMS:

What a great first full calendar year at Hoedown.  The darkest AO in RVA has drawn some great numbers and has had 16 different PAX members Q during the Monday morning beatdown.  Even Lab Rat has Q’d Hoedown.  YHC felt like running this morning, so we got in 2.5 miles during the tour and stopped to get in the appropriate exercises at safe areas of the streets (the intersections).

There are plenty of possible FNG’s living near TES, so let’s make a better effort in 2019 of EH’ing those guys and getting them back out after their first post.  Everyone be safe tonight.

    See ya in the gloom!

  • Under weight

No, not “underweight”, but under weight, as in, YHC feels like he has had extra weight on him for the last few days.  Starting at his Gridiron Q last Saturday, YHC was under the weight of two bricks, this morning YHC was under the weight of Spit’s cinder block, all during the Christmas holiday, he was under the weight of excess amounts of food and this evening, he was under the weight of the rucksack!

Husky and YHC did 2 short loops with some offshoots for about 2.25 miles.  YHC under the weight of 6 bricks in the backpack (~30lbs)

Upchuck checked in with 2 long loops and a short loop for good measure…well done!

Mosey over the wet field with the “Field Closed” sign and head over to the field in front of the school which should have had a “Field Closed” sign on it for:

    Doracides:

Partner up and as a team complete 100 Carolina Dry Docks, 200 LBC’s, 300 SSH’s while partners switch and run to first cone and perform 1 Burpee, run back to partner, then run to second cone and perform 2 Burpees, run back to partner, then run to third cone for 3 Burpees and back to switch with partner.

Mosey back over wet field to parking lot for:

COT, Numberama, Namearama, Announcements and YHC took us out!

    Announcements:

A couple of PAX members are getting their Respect next week(Chum Bucket and J’ville)  Happy early birthdays, fellas!

    NMS:

YHC signed up for this Q about a month ago to change up his Saturday morning routine a little and to get to know some of the PAX members a little better.  After posting at Circus Maximus on Thursday and Q’ing this morning, YHC has definitely met some new members and gotten to know others better.

The fields and any part of the ground that was not paved were absolutely soaking wet.  YHC didn’t want to just stay on pavement, so to the driest field we could find, we went.  Wasn’t dry at all.  Little bit of slipping and sliding!  Burpees were fun on that field, weren’t they?

YHC hadn’t brought coupons out in a while, so why not bring them to Gridiron.  Everyone did well with them.  YHC only had one, because he miscounted, so White Deer tried to even things up when he found and gave YHC a full size cinder block.  YHC couldn’t make it work, so one coupon it was.

Tug-O-War was fun, though we had to do it on pavement.  It would have been ugly doing that on the field.  Congrats to the Johnsonville, Offshore, Quest team!

Welcome to FNG-Vanilla Ice.  The 2.0 of Touchma, Vanilla Ice loves rap music, soccer and school.  He also likes working out next to his friend, Cheetah.

Way to work this morning, gentlemen and thanks for letting me come out and lead you this fine morning.  Have a great Christmas and remember to try to enjoy every minute of it, even the hectic and stressful parts (right J’ville?)

    NMS:

Nice morning for a beat down.  Temperature was better than recent mornings, though the ice was still prevalent.  PAX rolled in ready to work.  YHC had to abandon Big Blue to make room for Bleeder(6 PAX in Big Blue is just to many, 5 is comfortable if one of them is TYA).  Nice little jog at the beginning to get the blood flowing and then to COP where TYA mumbled that we could have just walked over by the bus loop.  YHC was hit with a snowball while doing cadence on Cotton Pickers, YHC didn’t flinch.  Couple more snowballs were spotted traveling to other PAX members.  Sarah slept through COP.  Nice, long, tough Triple Check to get us started.  Boxing Cockroaches for a long period of time are TOUGH!  Everyone toughed it up and kicked tail!  YHC then modified a Vinny Pull-Up Ring of Fire from a Mary Q of his in the past(which I learned was taken from an old Swirly Q) and changed it into a Burp-Up Ring of Fire.  YHC thinks this was well received or maybe not???  It was in the middle of the Ring of Fire that Circle K ran out toward the street to talk to a guy that YHC thought was a regular PAX member leaving, but YHC learned that it was Brita (FNG) looking for a different workout group.  Well, Brita is with us now because of Circle K and because we start on time and we are some cool dudes who love a good beat down!  Well done Circle K and Brita!  PAX laid in some nice thawing pools of water during ring of fire and partner work.  Well done!  PAX raced back to the flag with one minute left, YHC and Bleeder will now retire our usual sprint-off back to the flag.  Hope your leg’s ok, Bleeder!  Great job to Yard Sign for posting for his second day in a row!

YHC is proud of the work everyone did this morning and was greatly honored to lead you.  Hope the rest of your day goes well and SYITG!
