We had October weather on August 5th in Richmond VA. A better day could not be had for a workout. Truly glorious.

  • Calamari

4 regulars posted for a slightly wet Sunday morning. Saab opted for the roads, the rest of the crew hit the access road and did and out and back to Belle Isle. A couple of hours at Elwood post workout.

No swim today. 300,000 gallons of raw sewage seemed to impact the desirability or a dip in the river. Question is how long will it take for the river to be safe again. Only time will tell.

    Eat lots of Calamari.

  • A little Nip and Tuck in the river

7 studs posted for a run on a perfect July morning in RVA. Route was North to South, stop at the swimming hole for a dip in the river.

Great morning for a run. Nip/Tuck from F3 New Orleans was in town for a couple days doing some college touring with his sons. Perfect morning to get up and hang with the F3 boys for a trail run and swim. When we got into the water, he thought we were going to cross the river on the water. Not the plan, but a great idea. We will have to do that one of these days!!!

  • Table Tennis Day

19 Warriors emerged from their nice warm beds and ventured onto the University of Richmond for a Tuesday morning run. Weather was as nice as its going to be for this time of year in RVA.

The route was one we haven’t done for a couple of years. From the lake run up to the main entrance, take a right onto campus and run up to Three Chopt. Back down to the main entrance, over to Boatright Drive and up to the top of the hill to Three Chopt Again. Repeat this loop as many times as possible. Each segment of the route is just about 1 mile.

Lots of mixed feedback on this route. I like it because you get to see all the other runners along the way as people make their way back and forth ton the hills. It is a hilly route and you get little flat running at all. Some like that, some do not. Faceplant loved the route as the directions are really simple and we have run these roads many times. No opportunity to get lost.

  • Swimming at Foushee

6 studs emerged from the fart sack for a glorious sunday morning. Weather was 70 ad sunny. Route was Buttermilk to T. Pottersfield to Northbank to Texas Beach. Stop at Foushee’s Mill for a quick swim, back to the pump house parking lot for a finish.

Great to run and chat with Shakedown this morning. YHC had nothing in the tank at the beginning of the run and things did not get better as I went along. The summer heat and humidity kills me. Despite my constant attempts to modify things, it still kicks my ass. Sometimes I wonder why I bother getting out and having a shitty run. In the end, I guess I would much rather do something and fail at it than not to try again with a new approach. Could be I am supposed to learn a different message, but I still can’t see what it is (if you see it and want to share it with my, I am open). I will be back at it next week, hoping for less heat and humidity, but showing up regardless and trying my best.

Saab and Helix were the leaders of the pack this morning, but thought they were chasing us down. They were perplexed when they got to Foushee’s Mill and didn’t see us. Even more confused when they got back to the parking lot and had to wait for us for 20 minutes. What they didn’t realize is that they were ahead of us since just past Oregon Hill.

  • Optional Swim

Eight studs posted on a steamy Sunday morning for a trail run. Route was Northbankt trail to Tredegar, Tredegar to Mayo bridge, flood wall to buttermilk, buttermilk to access road and bsck across the nickel bridge. 8 mile in total, despite what some of the Pax thought. We took a swim in the river on the way back just before the nickel bridge. Water was glorious. I was drier after getting out of the water that before I went in. Saab donned his speedo.

  • Smorgasbord

6 studs posted on a perfect Wednesday afternoon. Route of the day was the Smorgasbord: one short loop, one medium loop and one long loop.

Hot days are coming to RVA. 85 today at the start. A whole new environment to adapt to. Good to run in different condition. Got a good regular group of folks coming out on Wednesday’s. Come on out and join us.

  • A random walk

14 studs took a random walk around MM. TYA forgot to take his meds, so he could only remember 4 exercise, merkins, WWII, jump squats and side straddle hops. So we ran a lot and did a ton of those exercises. Complaints can be made every other Thursday between 9 and 901 am.
