  • Currahee Comet

7 fearless studs emerged from the gloom to shake off last nights beer induced cloud and attack the day on a crisp cool morning.

5ers – West on Ridgefield to Pine Run, traverse through Gayton ES, East on Church to Pump and return

4ers  – West Ridgefield to Copperas to church, or whatever feels good.

    Probation took us out.

Prayers for EF Hutton as he recovers.

NMS – great morning and maybe the last cool morning for Currahee. Some of the PAX caught an object breaking up in the atmosphere. We think it was part of the spaceX launch. What was really neat is that we were heading due east on Church Road and it was in line with the road (rather far away) in the perfectly clear blue pre sunrise sky and framed by the dark trees on the left and right.  We might have caught MICO stage separation, and second engine start.  YHC worked at NASA and has seen plenty of video from behind the spacecraft.  This is the first time we had an oblique view – pretty cool.  Nice Respect Day present.

YHC is starting the 5th year with F3.  What a great brotherhood.  Your mission is to bring one more to the brotherhood this year.

    Currahee!

  • Lucky seven

A lucky Seven men joined up in the gloom on a dry 4C day for two routes today:

4 milers. run through and around DRP. 4.4 miles

5ish milers. Route below including Gaskins and the hill on Three Chopt returning through Cross Keys and Dover Hunt to Raintree – planned at 5.5, this route was 6 on the garmin.

    Pinto took us out.

NMS – YHC has wanted to run this route for some time as it has good warmups, a solid hill push, and some hills to top it all off. This was a little longer than targeted, but the PAX drove through – we would likely agree that the three chopt hill is a real crowd pleaser. Splinter would approve.

Its been a year since we started exploring this running AO and this is exactly what we wanted. Lets get some more neighbors out.

    Currahee!

Musings – 3 is a powerful number with ancient mystical implications. 3 man is a powerful college drinking game – YHC enjoyed the regional rule differences: nine to the right, eleven left, ten social, five and two touch your nose, 3 rolls to make a rule.

  • Great long run day

5 F3 Fearless Fellas, a guy named Patrick, and Peter the canine got together on a perfect day to run south of the river before returning North. Some took the trails (almost 7) and some the non trail loop (7.5). YHC took us out.

NMS – While long runs have been later on Sundays, its been a while since river runs for YHC for no good reason. It could not be better than today. Warmer than over winter, but cooler than it could be. Decent enough overnight rain to wash out the pollen. Great 3rd F afterwards.

Let YHC know if you are interested in a virtual benefit 5/20 for Friends of Barnabas, a Honduran mountain medical mission. There will be a silent auction, and entertainment that you can view from the comfort of your home. No teams have travelled since March 2020, but FOBF has adapted well to new logistical challenges. For example, we are shipping an updated bus via USAF C17 and US Army logistics. YHC leads the first team in 2022 and I anticipate that we will have plenty of opportunity through out the year to round out teams from other churches – plenty of opportunities to fit a week of mission in your schedule – let YHC know if you are interested.

NMS – This is the official kick off of YHC 4th anniversary Q week, a week early due to out of town work conflicts. After pushing off several EH from Toga, Flipper, Splinter, YHC finally posted with Fudd on my 46th Bday for a Hardywood Q. While relatively active and keeping up standards prior, YHC most needed the escape from sad clown disease and am grateful to the PAX for their encouragement and guidance over the years. When Vinny returns my copy of freed to lead, it is up for grabs for any PAX. Recommended reading.

If you have not read it, Jocko Willink’s Discipline Equals Freedom is a must read. His other books are great too – YHC served with the same TF Bandit battalion from the big army that Jocko highlights in Extreme Ownership & Dichotomy of Leadership. When Swirly’s book comes out, read that too.
