Breaking Bread: We Need You – Now TWO Nights Per Month

We talk about being HIMs. High. Impact. Men. This message is about asking for your help to make a real-life Impact – both in time and effort – on behalf of a group of people who F3RVA has sponsored for the last 4+ years.

For those not familiar, F3RVA helps by feeding residents in the Medical Respite facility at the Southside Health Center. This is on the Q sign-up sheet as, “Breaking Bread.”

The PAX (sometimes multiple PAX and/or with their family/kids) sign up to bring dinner to 10-15 people recovering from injuries or illnesses at the Medical Respite Clinic on Belt Blvd. This is a place for those who have no other place to recover.

Most of us will never need Medical Respite. For that matter, most of us will never have a reason to drive on Belt Blvd. Due to COVID, other groups have stopped providing meals. That is F3RVA’s reason to step-up. We are going to take TWO nights per month instead of one (fourth Saturday and fourth Sunday). That means your F3RVA brothers are asking you to step-up. Some PAX have already volunteered to take on the extra load (t-claps; you know who you are). YHC asks that you do the same. Look for the sign-up slots on the Q Sheet. Look for reminders from YHC, who thanks you in advance. And, for those of you who have a Q during the week, please make an Announcement that we need PAX to commit themselves to making an Impact. Sign up.

For those who believe that making a group dinner sounds hard, it is not.

    1. You choose the menu.
    2. You make dinner for 10-15 humans.
    3. You deliver it at 5:30 p.m. (even the time is perfect for F3). Note: due to COVID, we simply deliver the food – we are not allowed inside the building to serve.
    4. The residents will open the door to take the food.
    5. The residents will thank you profusely.
    6. You are done.

Boom. It’s far easier than a Spit Q, the IPC, a CSAUP, or any exercise that references murdering (or murderous) varmints.

These people need F3RVA’s help (meaning YOUR help). As YHC has said many times, if you want to impress your M with a monologue about an F3 event, your best option is to make and deliver dinner for Breaking Bread. Tell her about that. Unlike an incessant description of the length of Twin Team hill, how to count the number of reps times steps in the Amphitheater, or anything involving a “coupon,” this activity will impress her. Involving your kids will impress her more.

Sign up on the Q sheet. Reach out to me with questions. Make an Impact.

  • PreBlast: 2nd Annual First Inaugural F3RVA Retreat – 10/3/2020

    PreBlast: 2nd Annual First Inaugural F3RVA Retreat – 10/3/2020

Brothers, this year’s Retreat will once again be held at the Gomer Pyle family compound in Amelia. Gates will open at 2:00 PM.

Site Address: Text me (804-852-0800) or see Gomer Pyle. For security reasons, the address will not be posted here .

Cornhole: Gumbo and I look forward to defending our title. Two man teams need to start forming now so that E.F Hutton can set up the brackets. Teams should be comprised of members from different nano-regions. Please use the sign-up sheet on Google Docs. This – double elimination tournament – will start at 2:00.

BYOE: Bring your own everything, plus anything you want to share with the group. Last year Rosie donated 100 oysters to the cause. We will have Circle K’s massive grill, but if you want to smoke something, a la Shakedown, you’ll need to bring your own smoker, etc.

Camping: We will be camping out for one night. Bring tents, truck beds, whatever you will need.

Organized Events: Other than cornhole, there will be none. This event is not about working out – we do that all year round. This is a 2nd F event! There will be other lawn games available for impromptu fun. Last year this format worked very well. Simply hang out and enjoy yourselves.

    Looking forward to it!

  • PREBLAST — Labor Day Convergence @ GridIron

PREBLAST — Labor Day Convergence @ GridIron

The GridIron Pax will host a Convergence at 7:00AM on Labor Day, September 7, 2020. The venue will be at the GridIron AO, Pouncy Tract Park, Short Pump, VA.

We are planning a 1 hour bootcamp followed by a socially-distanced coffeeteria on site. We will have coffee and a simple breakfast menu of sausage and egg bagels.

There will be no charge for breakfast, but we will be collecting donations for CrossOver Healthcare Ministry, which is currently handling a lot of COVID testing and providing much needed healthcare support to hard-hit communities. More info can be found at https://www.crossoverministry.org/.

If you know you will be staying for coffeeteria, then please RSVP to Johnsonville at flbiggs@gmail.com. Getting a decent head-count will help us to plan for the correct amount of coffee and food.

Bring your own lawn chair if you want comfortable seating. We will make sure the workout is fairly FNG friendly, so bring an FNG or two as well.

  • F3 Iron PAX (RVA Style)

    F3 Iron PAX (RVA Style)

It’s that time of year again. Not only a time where the leaves change and the smell of pumpkins and their related spices are omnipresent. No, YHC is referring to the F3 Iron PAX challenge. This a challenge is amongst F3 nation. A chance to push and better yourself while talking some smack along the way.

Dr. Try Hard and YHC will attempt to lead the challenge in RVA this year. It will take place the first 4 weeks of September. We will hold it at NO TOLL each week, same as usual, Tuesdays at 5:30am! If there is a requirement for weights, a track, or pull up bars we will hold it at a different AO as needed. No need to change what you do! Just post at normal days/locations. Changes and any new info will be posted on Slack.

The pre-blast from F3 Greenwood is below which explains it a little more. Use this to sign up and rep F3RVA. (RVA is an option for region when you sign up).

  • TRON: Going Digital Part Deaux

    TRON: Going Digital Part Deaux

Starting Monday the 20th at 5:30am there will be a second weekly virtual AO. This way there will be Monday and Wednesday virtual options. TRON will be held live from inside the computer (or phone). YHC will be Q to start out with. All PAX are welcome. Bring a coupon if you have one.

After going to several virtual beat downs, YHC feels going digital can be less complicated or daunting than it might seem. Also excited to bring a few new or less used exercises to the routine.

This is easy to do with a laptop, tablet or smartphone. I’ve done laptop and phone and both worked pretty well.

Info to join in is below. SYITG!

Boberry is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting:

Zoom meeting ID is: 822-7005-7337. The password will be posted to Slack (or message YHC or Offshore).

  • Introducing a New AO: The Last Resort

Introducing a New AO: The Last Resort

    Gentlemen,

In the midst of gyms closing, sheltering in place, work from home, and a sense of the unknown, the 2nd F we get from working out together in The Gloom becomes even more important. And there are lots more men around us who don’t yet realize that they need what F3 offers!

YHC has decided to start a new AO centered in his own neighborhood and focused on inviting neighbors into the PAX. Flyers have gone in mailboxes and I’ve gotten the blessing of the Longdale Elementary School principal.

Monday morning at 5:30 (March 23), come check out The Last Resort at Longdale Elementary School, 9500 Norfolk St in Glen Allen. It’s about 15 minutes or less from DaVille, Dogpile, and Hoedown, right off of Brook Rd & 295. We will need some seasoned Redwoods to show these FNGs what it is we do. I’ll take the first Q – If it turns out there are more than the recommended 10 who gather, we might split into two groups.

“The Last Resort” is both a reference to the community of F3 being one of the only places for fitness and fellowship these days, as well as the 1,000 accre resort and six-story hotel from the 1880s called Forest Lodge, located just up the road from the AO.

    YNWA,
    -Mr. Holland

    Poker at OC’s – Feb. 22nd

All are welcome for some poker, drinks and fellowship at casa de Orange Crush on February 22nd. Let’s plan to start around 730/8. BYOB, but in you case you don’t make it to the store, I’ve got a fridge full of beers and you are welcome to mine. I’ll also have some chips, guac, salsa, etc. Text me for the address. Cell is eight zero four – eight three six – seven two five five.

I am not sure how to get this on the main page. Hopefully…that happens with the various tags that I put on it. Please pass on to those who may not see it.

    Looking forward to it!

  • Breaking Bread and Enjoying the Fellowship

Breaking Bread and Enjoying the Fellowship

Representative’s from three of F3RVA’s nano-regions, converged on Belt Blvd this beautiful evening to serve up some food and fellowship with our brothers. After Husky blessed the food, twelve Medical Respite patients were served:

    Pork BBQ w/ buns

    Beef BBQ w/ buns

    Cole Slaw

    Baked Beans

    Cookies

    Lemonade

    Tea

The twelve were very appreciative and very hungry, but there was a somewhat somber mood with the TV blaring the news of Kobe Bryant’s passing (may he Rest in Peace).

If you have never participated and experienced Breaking Bread, please sign up on the Q sheet (every 4th Sunday of the month.) It is very rewarding and humbling. Any questions, please ask Lab Rat as he is the head of this great charity.
