  • Breaking Bread: We Need You – Now TWO Nights Per Month

Breaking Bread: We Need You – Now TWO Nights Per Month

We talk about being HIMs. High. Impact. Men. This message is about asking for your help to make a real-life Impact – both in time and effort – on behalf of a group of people who F3RVA has sponsored for the last 4+ years.

For those not familiar, F3RVA helps by feeding residents in the Medical Respite facility at the Southside Health Center. This is on the Q sign-up sheet as, “Breaking Bread.”

The PAX (sometimes multiple PAX and/or with their family/kids) sign up to bring dinner to 10-15 people recovering from injuries or illnesses at the Medical Respite Clinic on Belt Blvd. This is a place for those who have no other place to recover.

Most of us will never need Medical Respite. For that matter, most of us will never have a reason to drive on Belt Blvd. Due to COVID, other groups have stopped providing meals. That is F3RVA’s reason to step-up. We are going to take TWO nights per month instead of one (fourth Saturday and fourth Sunday). That means your F3RVA brothers are asking you to step-up. Some PAX have already volunteered to take on the extra load (t-claps; you know who you are). YHC asks that you do the same. Look for the sign-up slots on the Q Sheet. Look for reminders from YHC, who thanks you in advance. And, for those of you who have a Q during the week, please make an Announcement that we need PAX to commit themselves to making an Impact. Sign up.

For those who believe that making a group dinner sounds hard, it is not.

    1. You choose the menu.
    2. You make dinner for 10-15 humans.
    3. You deliver it at 5:30 p.m. (even the time is perfect for F3). Note: due to COVID, we simply deliver the food – we are not allowed inside the building to serve.
    4. The residents will open the door to take the food.
    5. The residents will thank you profusely.
    6. You are done.

Boom. It’s far easier than a Spit Q, the IPC, a CSAUP, or any exercise that references murdering (or murderous) varmints.

These people need F3RVA’s help (meaning YOUR help). As YHC has said many times, if you want to impress your M with a monologue about an F3 event, your best option is to make and deliver dinner for Breaking Bread. Tell her about that. Unlike an incessant description of the length of Twin Team hill, how to count the number of reps times steps in the Amphitheater, or anything involving a “coupon,” this activity will impress her. Involving your kids will impress her more.

Sign up on the Q sheet. Reach out to me with questions. Make an Impact.

  • PreBlast: 2nd Annual First Inaugural F3RVA Retreat – 10/3/2020

    PreBlast: 2nd Annual First Inaugural F3RVA Retreat – 10/3/2020

Brothers, this year’s Retreat will once again be held at the Gomer Pyle family compound in Amelia. Gates will open at 2:00 PM.

Site Address: Text me (804-852-0800) or see Gomer Pyle. For security reasons, the address will not be posted here .

Cornhole: Gumbo and I look forward to defending our title. Two man teams need to start forming now so that E.F Hutton can set up the brackets. Teams should be comprised of members from different nano-regions. Please use the sign-up sheet on Google Docs. This – double elimination tournament – will start at 2:00.

BYOE: Bring your own everything, plus anything you want to share with the group. Last year Rosie donated 100 oysters to the cause. We will have Circle K’s massive grill, but if you want to smoke something, a la Shakedown, you’ll need to bring your own smoker, etc.

Camping: We will be camping out for one night. Bring tents, truck beds, whatever you will need.

Organized Events: Other than cornhole, there will be none. This event is not about working out – we do that all year round. This is a 2nd F event! There will be other lawn games available for impromptu fun. Last year this format worked very well. Simply hang out and enjoy yourselves.

    Looking forward to it!

  • PREBLAST — Labor Day Convergence @ GridIron

PREBLAST — Labor Day Convergence @ GridIron

The GridIron Pax will host a Convergence at 7:00AM on Labor Day, September 7, 2020. The venue will be at the GridIron AO, Pouncy Tract Park, Short Pump, VA.

We are planning a 1 hour bootcamp followed by a socially-distanced coffeeteria on site. We will have coffee and a simple breakfast menu of sausage and egg bagels.

There will be no charge for breakfast, but we will be collecting donations for CrossOver Healthcare Ministry, which is currently handling a lot of COVID testing and providing much needed healthcare support to hard-hit communities. More info can be found at https://www.crossoverministry.org/.

If you know you will be staying for coffeeteria, then please RSVP to Johnsonville at flbiggs@gmail.com. Getting a decent head-count will help us to plan for the correct amount of coffee and food.

Bring your own lawn chair if you want comfortable seating. We will make sure the workout is fairly FNG friendly, so bring an FNG or two as well.

  • F3 Iron PAX (RVA Style)

    F3 Iron PAX (RVA Style)

It’s that time of year again. Not only a time where the leaves change and the smell of pumpkins and their related spices are omnipresent. No, YHC is referring to the F3 Iron PAX challenge. This a challenge is amongst F3 nation. A chance to push and better yourself while talking some smack along the way.

Dr. Try Hard and YHC will attempt to lead the challenge in RVA this year. It will take place the first 4 weeks of September. We will hold it at NO TOLL each week, same as usual, Tuesdays at 5:30am! If there is a requirement for weights, a track, or pull up bars we will hold it at a different AO as needed. No need to change what you do! Just post at normal days/locations. Changes and any new info will be posted on Slack.

The pre-blast from F3 Greenwood is below which explains it a little more. Use this to sign up and rep F3RVA. (RVA is an option for region when you sign up).

    PAX –

In my ultimate authority and without consultation, I have made a change to the website such that all posts will now have a default featured image. Continuing the theme of autocracy, the default image for all posts will be an original B&W photo of old glory.

Having an image for every post helps with the overall fit and finish on the website but additionally, I just like having one.

Adding a featured image to a post is straightforward. In the right gutter of every post there is a Featured image section. This is the same sidebar where you choose the category of the post (Richmond, Hampton Roads, News, Events). Choose an image, uploading a new image if necessary, and publish your post as usual.

If you do not want a custom featured image then you do not need to do anything different than you are currently doing and the default image will be used.

Ping me with any questions. Complaints can be redirected to the hotline.

  • 2020 F3RVA Murph Challenge

    2020 F3RVA Murph Challenge

06:00 Memorial Monday Murph at Dogpile. This will be Deuce’s VQ.

For those of you who are not familiar with the “Murph”, it is a workout named after Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005. He originally named the workout “Body Armor”. The workout consists of an initial 1 mile run, followed by 100 pull-ups, 200 merkins, and 300 air squats completed in any intervals, then capped with another 1 mile run. It is commonly broken up into 20 “Cindy”s of 5 pull-ups, 10 merkins, and 15 squats, but can be broken up into any increments. https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/27/us/memorial-day-murph-challenge-trnd/index.html

Looks like we can have 16 without having to use the highest bars at the dusty cage at Dogpile. With those bars, an additional 4-6 can be added. If we have more than 16, we can hold it at another AOs such as Twin team for SOJ, Hermitage high for West end, and Hoedown for Richmond City. Then we would need someone to Q any other AOs. Deuce will be bringing water bottles for the Q. Hardywood suggested having a socially distanced fellowship following with some coffee and lawn chairs. If any are interested, it can be coordinated.

Please leave comments on your participation and preferred AO.

    Hitchhiker on behalf of Deuce.
