2nd F meetups are fellowship related where members of the F3RVA community get together for non-workout related meetups (e.g. coffee, events, etc.)

  • Icey lot venue change

YHC did recon the evening before to determine that Pearsons corner should be the location for a safe workout. Sent notices to the DaVille group, one posted and we did the following:

    COP

We start with 20 SSH, 10 4ct DQ’s, 10 imperial walkers, 20 lunges (10 ea leg). 10 4 ct American Hammers, 20 flutter kicks, 10 reverse scorpions, 10 alabama prom dates. recover.

    THANG

Tabata was in order and we did the following 4 minute rotations of 8 30 second sets with 20 seconds exercise, 10 seconds rest. Rotation 1(R1)- Lunges, R2 LBC’s, R3 squats, R4 – Hand release merkins (10 reps then plank for remainin 20 seconds), R5 – reverse lunges, R6- Flutterkicks.

We then wrapped up to get coffee for a 2nd F and caught up on family business etc.

See you in the gloom soon….Cheers, CB!

  • Joey’s Hot Dogs

8 of met for lunch at Joey’s Hot Dogs in Innsbrook. Discussions on various assorted topics including ‘why is it that if I run a route one way, the elevation change is different when I run the same route in reverse?’

  • It’s You Against You

One biked, five ran, maybe 7 ran, and one walked…but, surely, all pushed in the latest edition of Sunday Funday. Temperatures were a brisk 70 and sunny. According to the guy who drives a creepy, but somehow not THAT creepy, white van, the following might have happened.

2 guys ran 10+ at Snowy Owl. Maybe that’s Sunday Funday. Surely, today is Sunday. And, surely, it was a funday. If they do their own backblast, we will adjust.

3, including an FNG, ran 6.7 miles on the trails. Buttermilk to Northbank.

One ran way more than that. Hard to say how far.

One ran way less than that. 4.1.

    One hiked for an hour.

    One guy rode forever.

    Numbers, names, and we dispersed.

NMS: We had an FNG at Sunday Funday. Kevin is a legitimate friendly new guy. First, he’s friendly. Second, he’s new. And, third, well, we assume. Among other things, he is an expert tiler. Welcome, Grout.

  • The Beautiful Bridge

What a wonderful morning for F3RVA, F3 The Bridge and F3 Charlottesville to converge on top of the hills of Buckingham County, VA! At precisely 7:30am, after meetings and greetings, and tummy rubs and ear scratches for the pups, the following is what most likely happened:

COP on the basketball court after a lap jog around the lot:

Dead Man Hang, Reach for the Stars, Helicopters, DQ’s, Ukrainian Soldiers, Imperial Walkers, Copperhead Squats, LBC’s, WW2 Sit-ups, Flutter Kicks and 1 Arm Circle led by Hardywood

Mosey over to the large blacktop area for:

    Four Corners – Prostitute Style

    10 Merkins, 20 Jump Squats, 30 Monkey Humpers, 40 SSH’s

Mosey back to basketball court for:

2 x 20 Partner Leg Tosses, each pax

    Plank-a-rama

    Mosey over to driveway for:

    Touch-a-Tree

Round 1: 5 trees or protrusions from the ground/Merkins

    Round 2: 5 different trees or protrusions/Squats

    Round 3: 5 different trees or protrusions/Burpees

Partner up for 20 count Boo-Yah Merkins

    Al Gore

    Back to the blacktop for:

    Tug-O-War! (refereed by Mr. Davis)

    Round 1: Mix-n-match Team A beats Mix-n-match Team B

    Round 2: Mix-n-match Team B beats Mix-n-match team A

Round 3: F3 The Bridge beats F3RVA really badly!

Back to the basketball court for:

    5MOM

Each pax picked an exercise that we did 10 of in cadence.

    Time up!

Numbers, Names, Prayer Requests and Praises

    YHC took us out!

    NMS:

We could not have asked for anything more than what we received this morning! Great weather, awesome fellowship, and, most importantly, helping our F3 The Bridge brothers see the light of a new day (and the light at the end of the tunnel.) These five men brought their A game right out of the fartsack this morning! They also brought joy and humility to us, which was much needed for YHC.

If you haven’t been, you need to go! It’s as simple as that. A lot of us advertise The Bridge at the end of most of our backblasts, but then it ends there. Follow through and go!

Also, I have two words for you: Cumberland Diner!

We need someone who has been at least one time to sign up to Q for January. See Upchuck.

F3RVA – this thing that we share is not about you, it’s about everyone and everything else.

    Kubota

  • Singing in the Gloom

43!! Men of F3RVA stepped into the gloom and found out there is a best way to start the day out right at NoToll, join the the 11th annual version of 12 Days of Christmas. Thankful to those who ignored their typical ‘rule’ of avoiding rainy days below 40 degrees and jumped in head first to join in on the Christmas Spirit.

After an intro, welcome to the FNG from Iceland, and some standard warm up fare we headed to cover for the main event.

A couple false starts with a few guys getting ahead of the Q in rounds 1 and 2, the PAX settled into a harmonious rhythm as we worked our way through the 12 days:

    • 1 Dozen LBCs
    • 2 Sprints (mosey) across the field
    • 3 Diamond Merkins
    • 4 Imperial Squat Walkers
    • 5 Burpees
    • 6 Carolina Dry Docks
    • 7 Ball Dippers
    • 8 Hand Release Merkins
    • 9 American Hammers
    • 10 Freddie Mercuries
    • 11 Crunchy Frogs
    • 12 Broad Jump Burpees

I can’t thank everyone enough for coming out today and letting me lead this tradition, my cup is full for the Holidays! The chatter was high under the shelter but, as the Q, I did not get to hear much of it beyond the occasional comment. Naming the FNG was an adventure with a rapid fire of random non-sequiturs coming from Hardywood and minimal repeats or consensus.

Thanks to EF Hutton for coordinating the Secret Santa and to Snuff, Dealer, and maybe others – for the post workout onsite coffeeteria.

Lots of things to do, places to be, and people to see over the next few days but take the time to slow it down and enjoy time with family.

    Announcements:

    • Kubota is leading The Bridge on 12/27, reach out if you can go, all 3 Fs in a few short hours
    • DTH is opening the Forge on Christmas day and according to the Q sheet Circus will be in session as well with Atilla
    • NEW YEAR’S DAY Convergence – Dogpile 7am – hit me up if you are going to be there – looking for a couple of Qs.

  • HB3 – Bell Bashers

A swarthy seven SOJ studs swung their huge bells into the frosty gloom in the following HIMtastic manner:

    WARMERAMA:

    • Mosey loop carrying KB’s and circle up
    • Welcome & Disclaimer
    • Warm-up Reps IC and a few stretches

    THE THANG:

    • Coupon mosey down to the best Turf field in RVA and line up on the TD line
    • THE GREMLIN – the nastier smaller brother of the classic Beast – usually shorter distances, but with movement activities between reps, and in today’s case, carrying KB’s
    • Round 1 – Lunge walk 20 yards between stops, x6 Goblet Squats at each of the six stops
    • Round 2 – Bear crawl dragging Bell between 5 yard intervals, x6 KB swings at each stop
    • Round 3 – Overhead run between 20 yard intervals, with x6 KB WWII’s each stop
    • Round 4 – BELL BASHERS was a new one today – imagine crab walking, but with butt scooting backward along turf, alternating hands to pull along KB between legs. Used the 5 yard intervals for this nasty little movement, stopping for x6 Bell Hammers (2-count) at each stop
    • Round 5 – Shoulder carry the KB to run between 25 yards intervals, stopping for x6 Bell Merkins each stop
    • Round 6 – Last but not least, the PAX held their KB’s to hop (mini broad jump) between the 5 yard intervals, stopping for Bell Burpees at each stop (BB’s combine dropping for a Bell Merkin, the Hopping up to swing the Bell overhead)

    REVIEW TIME:

    • PAX took a few minutes to familiarize and practice proper Turkish Getup form

Mosey BTTF and Circle up for COT:

    • Counterama # 7
    • Namerama
    • Announcerama (see Below)
    • BOM Prayer
    • COFFEE!!! (Thank you Snuff!!!)

NMS:  There may not be a more spectacular way to start a new week than swinging Huge Bells with your favorite fellas. YHC diverged from the stationary KB routine and take the Bells on a little tour down to the field. The Gremlin beast is always a crowd favorite, and the movements and reps held the PAX to a higher level of pain than usual. Today’s novel little routine was the crabscoot KB pull, which was suggested to be called Ball Bashers by L Woods after we noticed Snuff actually crab walking with his Huge Bell sitting atop of his man parts. Snuff was prompt to edit the exercise name to Bell Bashers. Either way, the PAX put in some challenging work today, and YHC already has another 1000 ways to introduce KB’s to every Forge routine from the last 6 year. Keep posting gents! Yours AYE! ~DTH

    MOLESKIN

Today was meant to celebrate how the last 11 years of F3 has challenged us, molded us, and called each one of us to be the men and leaders we are designed to be.  Gents, it’s been a pleasure to serve the men of F3 RVA.  If I’ve made a tiny fraction of the impact that this PAX makes on me daily, then I’ll call my time as 1st F Q a success.  I humbly hand the reins over to Handshake for some fresh ideas and renewed enthusiasm.  As we enjoyed some 2nd F, we honored and perhaps roasted some of the finest men F3 RVA has to offer.
