NMS:  As always brothers, it is one of my deepest honors to be a part of this fine organization and have the opportunity to lead. We truly embody FREEDOM – for ourselves, our brotherhood, our communities, our country, and in our faith. Loved seeing so many PAX from all over RVA, and welcome NIGHTSTAND (Hayden Mulchin) – so nicknamed as he spends a lot of time as a caretaker for his elderly veteran grandfather. Looking back it was cool to see that each team won an event! Great effort everyone!!! Brothers, what we have in F3, truly EVERY man needs in his life, whether he knows it now or not. Be FEARLESS in your invitation to join you in F3, and together we will reach every community in RVA. Happy Independence Day brothers! Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Should’ve Known

With Oyster vacating and Hitchhiker a week removed from baby 3, YHC should’ve known pickleball was a long shot.  No lessons were learned from Bulkhead’s solo outing a week ago.  YHC did a workout deemed too hard for Iron Pax.  Trust me on that one.

  • Middle school Champ!

4 champs arrived at Batteau ready to handle some business.

Warmarama: A few dinks, a few long shots. We ready!

    The Thang:
    Meatball/Oyster (W), Hitchhiker/McRib (L)
    Hitchhiker/McRib (L), Meatball/Oyster (W)

    McRib/Oyster (W), Meatball, Hitchhiker (L)
    Meatball/Hitchhiker (W), McRib/Oyster (L)
** Hitchhiker refused to play the 3rd game to break the tie** May have had a good reason something about kids and early camp schedule. Or maybe he just wanted to enjoy the W. Next time buddy.

NMS: Congrats to Bodo’s and his 1000 Post today. Sorry to have missed it, but Mondays are for Pickleball. Seriously though Congrats, 1000 posts and not 1 is from a Broga.

Mondays are for Pickleball. Coming soon Tournament dates and Sign ups. Let’s Gooooo!!!

  • It’s Just So Juicy

Eight came to whack the ball around in the latest edition of The Batteau, Summer Pickleball Edition. Temperatures were, once again, 70 and sunny. According to ESPN’s SportsCenter coverage, the following might have happened:

COP. Mosey around the courts, watching for the occasional court drying equipment or ball barrier. Work in a few reps of shuffling side-to-side or Bernie Sanders to get the muscles loose.

SSHs, Dead Man Hang, and a little bit of broga. Onto the Main Event.

Doubles. Fun was had. Wind was a factor. Rain held off.

Nice work, gentlemen. Great games today.

Numbers, names, and YHC took us out.

NMS: Whitesnake is susceptible to conversation during a match. Topics included the difference between les Blues and les Spurs.

    Announcements:

TODAY: D-Day Anniversary Celebration Ruck (June 3). “Omaha” Meet at Palani Drive. 401 Libbie Avenue (across from Libbie Market). 5:45 launch. 5.6 mile route (aka, distance from Omaha Beach to Pointe du Hoc (look it up). Something to do with Rangers. Happy hour to follow.

Thursday (Actual 80th Anniversary): Utah. 7:00 p.m. 9.3 miles, roughly Utah Beach to St. Mere Eglise. Meet at Palani Drive.

June 22nd. (Skip the WWII Barbarossa reference). Goyne Park, Chester. Fully charge the battery on your EV and put in the extra distance to visit a new AO (and support your brothers with the launch!). See State Farm or Posh for details.

Don’t sleep on the Summer Tour. Get out there and hit some new locations.

And, don’t sleep on The Bridge. These guys need our help as they work back into society, learn some skills, and get themselves back on their feet. Get out there and help someone. See TYA for which weekends F3RVA has the Q.

Find a challenge. Find a hard challenge. Take it on, and make an impact.

    UpChuck spits the bit.

  • Pickleball Is Back!

Eight picklers with the paddles greeted YHC for the pickleball practice.

COP: Mosey to the court, ran around the court, and deadman hang x 10, helicopter x 10, SSH x 25.

YHC welcome a new FNG named Pepinillo (pickleball in Spanish) to F3RVA.

    Oyster took us out.

  • F3RVA Pickleball is making a comeback to Batteau starting May 20, 2024 on Mondays!!!!

Come one, come all to the 2nd F3RVA Pickleball league practice!

Our first practice day will be Monday, May 20, 2024 at 5:30am at the Forest Hill Park Pickleball Courts (41st and Forest Hill Ave, Richmond, VA 23235). We will meet and play on Mondays for the rest of the summer.

All are welcome regardless of skill level! Please bring your paddles and balls if you have. Some of us may have extra paddles you can borrow if necessary.

If you cannot make it on the 20th, that is fine. We will meet and practice every Mondays.

Looking forward to playing pickleball with some of you!

  • Pickleball Monday… on a Tuesday

After getting rained out Monday afternoon Oyster and Honeydo tried a repeato and found perfect weather on a Tuesday afternoon. Paired up with regulars Larry and Jose for many sets of matches. Hornydo tried to join up as a 4th with a threesome of college ladies looking for a 4th but Oyster insisted we keep playing with our group. Oyster is in his element on the courts, you should come out and experience it yourself if you play.

  • Choose your partner wisely

Three pickleball regulars came out on the warmest day so far this year for some hot doubles action. With only 3 PAX the group had to partner up with others on multiple courts. Oyster seems to know just about everyone there.

Upon arrival YHC was hoping to sneak on the court with the 4 20-something ladies finishing up but Lab Rat and Oyster insisted we warm up on another court first. Lab Rat starts us off 1 vs 2 and we all 3 rotate and the single wins somehow. All 3 stayed and moved across courts up until storms came before 7.

Days getting longer means morning Batteau Pickleball is coming in a few weeks. Monday nights are great practice for now.

  • Blood, Sweat and Tears

    Preseason game is strong:

    Warmarama: Not today

    The Thang:
    Bodos/Oyster(L) vs Banger 1/2 (W). – not a wise choice for our 1st game.
Bodos/Oyster (W) vs youngcouple1/2 (L) – should have been our 1st game. (Bodos dove not once but twice across the courts, no points earned).

    Let the real games begin:
    Oyster/FNG (W) vs Labrat/Bodos (L)
    Oyster/FNG (L) vs Labrat/Bodos (W)
    Oyster/FNG (W) vs Labrat/Bodos (L)

    Bodo’s had to run.

    Labrat/Oyster (L) vs young/old (W)
    Labrat/Oyster (W) vs young/old (L)
    Labrat/Oyster (L) vs young/old (W)

NMS: It was great seeing Labrat and Bodo’s today. We had some great games, I blame the wind on everything. Hope to see you guys out for more pickleball nights…. Next Monday – Forest Hill park (5:00pm – 7:0pm)
