Gumbo said, “Flatty it’s time.” Flatline does not wear a watch when working out. Out to the lakes past Maymont, up to lake at Byrd Park, run around, and retrace our route. Back to the flag at 0652. Not sure the distance but were ready for Dogpile. Great mumble chatter and it’s always great to run with F3 OG!

is it still a “pre-run” if it’s longer than the main event?
two gentleman set out to find out the answer to this question. As well as “how early is too early?” “On a Saturday?” “Was this a good idea?” “Is this fun?” “Are we going to make it back on time?” “Is 12/mile reasonable for an overall pace on a trail run?” Answers were deemed to be yes it’s a pre-run, before 430, yes on a Saturday, it was an idea, yes, we did somehow, yes but only by pushing it when the trail opens up. Got it a little over 10k. Great to catch up with Big Rig. Glad to get some trail miles in preparation for the river rock half coming up.

Truth
Two emerged from the early gloom as Mr Rogers answered YHC’s late night call. Off we went covering ground and deeper meaning.

Breakfast Club in the Crisp Morning Air
Two intrepid souls braved the Alaskan-like crisp cold of a Saturday morning for a Breakfast Club. We launched from the Elwood Thompson and converged upon the Dogpile. The crisp air and captivating conversation left us energized and ready for an intense(?) Oyster’s beatdown.
Cheers to a splendid morning, Bobbery!

Convergence pre-run. A mix of old and new.
I may have had too many twists in turns in my suggested 10-year convergence pre-run. Thanks to Rosie, we went on an old-school breakfast club run with a new twist. As I understand it from F3RVA lore, Elwood Thompson was once the premier post Dog Pile hangout spot, but alas, no more (apparently sandwiches named in honor of HIMs and even a picture on the wall)…so off we went from Dog Pile to Elwoods (top of Cary Town) and back.
Nothing more fun than getting ambiguous motorist honks of support and perhaps disdain running with an American flag on a shovel down Cary Street. But hey, just a bunch of men looking to plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership…nothing more…nothing less.
Running down Cary and seeing the joy on the OGs faces recollecting past breakfast club memories with fellow Pax was an inspiring site. I don’t consider myself anything close OG, but witnessing their camaraderie and hearing their stories made me realize how much of an impact shared F3 experiences can have over time. It reminded me that while I may not be part of those early days, I am contributing to something that’s bigger than myself—building my own set of memories and connections along the way. It’s moments like these that make me grateful to be a part of this community.

10K for 10 years
4 took the call to put in a Kilometer for each year of RVA’s birthday and prerun 6.2 miles before main event.
Great pace kept us at a conversational with and a little push to make it back in time. Many topics covered today from Toddler’s eating to Splinter’s long legs. But as always on a run, the conversation is a mobile COT. So what is shared amongst the pax remains with pax. You have to show to know.
Happy Birthday RVA!!
Looking forward to the next 10 years.

Popup Breakfast Club
8:13 Friday night and YHC sends Hutton a text, “Breakfast Club?” Hutton responds “Wanna actually run, or just go get food after DP?” A few more texts went by and Hutton indicated he could be easily swayed. At 8:41 pm Hutton responds “I’m in”
For the better part of a 1-2 years EF Hutton, YHC, and Hitchhiker were the Lynchpin of Breakfast Club. We were filling the void left by our forefathers. It was no longer Ellwood Thompsons and it had moved to Early Bird Biscuit aka Woke Biscuit. YHC had texted so late that YHC didn’t text Hitchhiker for fear he was already asleep, but I think a reprisal of Breakfast Club is coming soon, so Hitch, get ready.
EF Hutton was chatty, talks about life, love, and the pursuit of physical fitness. What made it extra special was the gleaming of Swirly’s tail lights as we ran up to the AO. We were excited for an old school DP.
The way back was as awful as YHC remembers, it’s definitely the longest mile ever.
Announcements – none
Prayer Requests – Scrappy (F3-Charlotte), aka Vinny’s high school classmate, his mother recently started hospice.

A Trio for BC
EFH and Boberry were patiently waiting as YHC rolled in and planted the flag before hitting the roads around Dogpile. Mostly flat ground traveled with discussions of the tour, takeover, and fast food work culture. Good start to the morning.

Some kind of Psycopath
No preblast since I didn’t know I was going until 4:50 am. 3ish miles, bb title inspired by a coworker that found out that I run solo without headphones “like some kind of psychopath”.
Breakfast club will be back strong next week with the SOJ takeover.
