  • Wait for the lights

Johnsonville and Attila were already positioned in the usual starting spot in the Mills Godwin parking lot when YHC arrived and just before 5:30, Krü arrived, making for a PAX four strong.  After a brief discussion about who would take the Q, we began the following, just as the automatic lights flickered on under the bus awning:  COP startup with SSH x 20, shift to the grass for 5 Up/Downs, back to the asphalt for 15 x IWs, DQs, Hillbillies, Helicopters, and Cherry Pickers.  Finished with single and double arm circles, forward and reverse.

Staying in place, complete 10 x Kettle Bell Swings, 10 x Head Halos, 10 x Body Halos, and 10 x Figure Eights.  Farmer’s Carry around Krü’s Super Subaru and back to the beginning.  Repeato x 2, but varying the direction of the Halos, picking a light pole and then a school wall for the weighted carry with a Waiter’s Carry and Overhead Carry on the second and third rounds.

Walk with weights to the far side of the bus circle for six rounds of 10 x Goblet Squats, 10 x Two-Handed Overhead Presses, 10 x Decline Merkins, and 20 x LBCs (added in round 2).

Stroll around the circle to the school wall for four rounds of 5 x Donkey Kicks, 5 second Straight-Armed Bell Hold, and 5 x Two-Handed Curls.

Shift 50 feet to the sidewalk for three rounds of 10 x Sit and Press, 10 x Pole Smokers, and 10 x Reverse Curls with bells held arms extended.  Finish with 15 x Lawnmower Pulls per arm and 20 x Pullovers.  COT and YHC took us out.

Good to see you guys and happy to attend.  Thanks for letting me Q.

Solid work by the PAX today.  Great to see Kru consistently.  White Deer was all business today.  Heal up Johnsonville, and hope to see the Tuckahoe clown mobile in the coming weeks.  For those interested, convergence is Saturday, with boot camps at both 6 and 7 am.  Running also at 7 am.  No Gridiron this Saturday due to the convergence.  Let YHC be amongst the first to wish F3 a happy birthday.  There is great fellowship that comes from working out together.

God is good all the time!

  • The Cumulative Effect

A stable of finely tuned specimens gathered in the early morning mist to clang some weight around.  Once White Deer offered a warm welcome to each warrior, here is how it went down:

    • COT with YHC taking us out

This is a variation of a workout Mr. Holland introduced at Heartbreak last week.  Its cumulative impact seemed ideal for KBs.  YHC is hoping he feels this one all day!  Today’s cumulative workout finished with 180 high pulls, 144 sit ‘n presses, 108 KB swings, 72 weighted squats, 36 halos and 60 lawnmover pulls with each arm.  If only we had an hour to finish out that beast!

Great work by the PAX today.  There was limited mumblechatter, but a great workmanlike approach by the PAX.  Great to have the Tuckahoe clown car back in the mix.  We will continue to have some extra KBs for these men.  Welcome back Carlton and P-Trap.  Good work men, and see you again soon.  As always, Johnsonville had a strong showing.  White Deer took no prisoners.

Announcements included lunch today at Chipotle (between Cox and Gaskins) at 12 noon for those interested.  Convergence on September 22nd at Dogpile.  Boot camp workout at 6 am and run/competition at 7 am.

God is good all the time!

  • New faces at the Circus

Eight eager men came to Circus Maximus on another humid morning. Loaner KBs were dispatched and off we went for:

Cop – ssh, Helicopter, Don Qs, Merkin, Flutterkicks, Hillbillies. Head to back of school-

4 Rounds of: 20 Donkey Kicks, 20 Squats, lunge across, then 20 Lawnmowers. Then 4 Round’s of 25 KB Swings, KB Crab walk across, 10 SitnPress.

Head back for Boat N Canoe, 10 Snatch each arm. 20 Skull Crushers and 15 Pullovers. Finish with some Mary. Atilla took us out.

NMS- Great to see Kru back out and Ponch bringing his pals P-trap and Carlton back out. The 4 rounds of DKs/lunges took longer than expected but the pax kept it moving. White Deer and Jville pushed each other up front and Atilla is back to form after his west coast trip.

Good luck to the BRR crew and Kru mentioned he is doing the Travis Manion 5k this Sunday, you can sign up day of.

  • Circus Maximus and Day 2 of Kettlebells for Some

Yesterday, White Deer and I took a roadtrip up to Manndate, and the Deer led us through a rigorous KB workout. Rinse and repeat this morning in the far West End darkness, except this time it was my turn to lead. Three of the CircusMaximus regulars were joined by three of Tuckahoe’s strongest. This is what went down:

31x SSH with some cadence shifts and a slow-speed section
    25x Imperial Walkers -> Hillbillies
    15x Cherry Pickers
    10x Hand release merkins
    20x LBC
20x Crabcakes (White Deer’s a** never leaving the pavement)

Overhead KB carry from VSF over to center of bus loop. 10 burpees OYO
Overhead KB carry to front of school near the wheelchair ramp.

Extended Half/Modified Dora consisting of the following:
50x merkin rows (with “off” team running length of straight-away and back)
100x KB snatches (with “off” team bear crawling up wheelchair ramp and back)
150x sit & press (with “off” team running length of straight-away and back)
200x lawnmower press (with “off” team feet-first crabwalking up sidewalk to door and back)

Overhead KB carry back to bus loop 10 burpees OYO
    Overhead KB carry to VSF.

COT with Kubota taking us out.

Moleskin: The Deer and I were both feeling yesterday’s Manndate workout, but we settled in after the warm-up and put in the work. It was great having red-pill fixture, Attila, back after his Family Vacation (TM) out west with in-laws. It was also great to connect with the three Tuckahoe men who made it out. They cheerfully endured both the KB workout and WhiteDeer’s flatulence.

Welcome to Circus Maximus to our summer tourers.  In particular, congrats to Phonics and Kubota on completely their last leg, much admiration and definitely enjoyed your fellowship.  Speaking of which, summer tour participants meet White Deer.  I do not need to introduce you to him, as he simply wasted no time in talking at you, to you and through you.  Some of the hot air this week came from the orifice on his head as opposed to his backside.  Dare I say, his mumblechatter is legendary, but not representative of the rest of the PAX.  I hope you were entertained.  It is strictly for that purpose.

Solid work by Johnsonville.  He continues to throw around 35 pounds with a vengeful energy.  T-claps!

All in all, strong work from the PAX   Here is to soreness on Friday.  Otherwise, the Q failed.  God is good all the time!

  • Gripping Tight

A pair of noble warriors answered the call of the early alarm to throw around the KB, and here is what transpired:

      • 15 crab cakes
      • 20 Helicopters
    • Mosey to bus loop for a modified game of catch me if you can
      • Double-weighted carry while partner does 10 burpees before running to partner
      • 50 total burpees
    • KB beast down/back bus loop (weighted carries between stops)
      • Sit ‘n presses
      • High pulls
      • Copperhead squats
      • Swings
      • Halos
      • Lawnmower pulls (each arm)
    • Chum Bucket led some cool down stretches
    • COT with YHC taking us out

On paper, this sounds easy.  Being under weight for 45 minutes is another thing.  That grip can be tested as the clock continues to click without a break.  Our arms will thank us later.  Great to see Chum Bucket and catch up with my brother.  The man is a beast.

God is good all the time!

  • Elevens to Rule them All

Four redwoods posted at Circus for some midsummer gloom. This is what went down, more or less:

    Number-a-rama
    Name-a-rama
COT with Honey Do taking us out

Moleskin. Opus rolled in a few minutes late, but did not miss much. He just returned from a 4 week vacation driving cross-country. This was his welcome back party! We were glad to have him out.

White Deer started talking trash the second Honey Do opened his car door. YHC knew running needed to be in the day’s recipe.

The elevens felt more like a Lucky Horseshoe than elevens on account of all of the running. The snatches and burpees have a nasty way of interfering with run mechanics. We all slowed significantly as the rounds progressed.

After the COT, everyone just laid around on the concrete sidewalk for quite some time. I could barely carry the KB back to the car.

Thanks for letting me lead. Jville

It was a dry morning for once, with strong work from the entire PAX.  YHC will say it again – great time with the summer tour and some new faces at Circus Maximus.  Enjoyed seeing Lockjaw, and welcome to Bromance.  White Deer was on his best behavior today as well.  It was a rather non-descript gathering, with the focus on KBs.  No new announcements.

God is good all the time!
