  • The right wing lap dance

Ten pax and 3 pups came to run or walk. About half did the prescribed lap twice while others had so much fun they did their own version.

Main course was all rights: right on pump, right on raintree, right at the new roundabout onto falcon bridge, right on pump, repeat. And try to go faster on the second lap dance. 4.5 miles total. I think everyone who did 2 laps improved their time the second lap. Yipeee! We are all winners!!

  • The Buffapple Route

With a slight nip in the air, 7 slayers of the fart sack embraced the streets of Westhoe and embarked on The Buffapple Route. I’ve found it a little cumbersome to have multiple street names thrown out there before running a route. People can’t remember the way; folks get lost. Posting the route the night before helps immensely, but it takes a little effort. I thought that having a few routes with names would be cool. So, I’ve gotten the pax to run the following route, which really shines when you are 1/2 way up the beast of a road that Buffapple is, about 4 times now. After trying to imprint it on our collective memory bank, I now declare this The Buffapple Route.

I suppose we have a couple other routes with names: Gypsy’s figure 8, the classic bro code run, the out and back (down and back Ridgefield) – but to me, the more named routes the better.

The Buffapple Route: Launch from Godwin HS, L on Pump, L on Falcon Bridge, L on Raintree, R on Ridgefield, L on Cox, L on Brookmont, L on Singing Wood, R on Buffapple, R on Pump, L on Burnside, R on Summer Wood, L on Glen Eagles, L on Old Prescott and back to Godwin HS.

BTTVF. Names. Numbers. Announcements: Please consider taking UpChuck’s service commitment (Site Q for The Bridge) from him. He’s put in some years and it’s time to pass the torch. Mr. Water Bottle has some potential upcoming cross country, as well as international, trips on the horizon. That guy really gets around. Speaking of guys that get around, with Pigskin gone to Norway this week, we’ve had some new War Daddies. Strangely, no one seems psyched when the are bestowed with this honorary title. Prayer Request: Handshake’s family, UpChuck’s friend and Pinto’s niece.

Perfect attendance today at Dunkin for 2nd F. We took a deep dive on what a beast Homer is and how many Asian cultures are superior to ours. And I learned that Pinto likes Skid Row (the band, not homeless encampments – rock on brother!) and that Gypsy’s son is fluent in Japanese (wow!).

Moleskin: The Stoics practiced Memento Mori, or “remember you must die”. Sounds morbid, but to recall this reality, serves to help us live more intentionally, virtuously and without wasting time on trivial matters, in this day, as tomorrow is not promised for any of us. Go get this one fellas!

  • A Bro Code Trip Through Norway via Jordan

Last Friday of the month means Bro Code, but it doesn’t have to be The Bro Code.

    This was Bro enough:

    • R on Pump
    • L on Old Prescott
    • L on Ridgefield
    • L on Rolfield
    • R on Colonist
    • L on Rolfe Way
    • R on John Rolfe
    • R on Glen Eagles
    • L on Old Prescott
    • R on Pump
    • Back to Godwin and VSF

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

Fun fact, you can get to Norway via Jordan and Romania or something like that, but you must start in Northern Virginia.  UpChuck has some mediocre jokes and a pretty good one about Horticulture.

Need someone to take over The Bridge

Safe travels for many this week

  • I’m Not the Site Q, But I Have a Route

A nine line of men built mutual strength through an unbreakable bond at the latest edition of Currahee. Temperatures were 70 and sunny. According to the guys walking super slowly three abreast along the road, the following might have happened.

Figure Eight Route (if I say it’s a figure eight, it’s a figure eight).

Old Prescott, do the very tiny loop at the cul-de-sac, and back to Godwin. Then, Maremont out past Raintree, do the Maremont Loop, right on Raintree (watch the walkers blocking the passing lane), and left onto Maremont.

Do that 2 or 3 times, in whatever order each man chooses. From what YHC could tell, no creativity was requested or demonstrated. Lemmings all followed to their own slaughter.

Numbers, names, and Lighthouse took us out.

    Announcements:

F3RVA needs a few good men to volunteer to lead 3rd F activities. YHC is going to move on from The Bridge after 2 years. We are looking for a guy to step up to take this on. The role requires a small amount of organization to get a group to organize trips once a month to lead a workout at The Bridge (and usually stop at The Cumberland Diner on the way back). Give YHC a shout if you are interested.

Prayers for Handshake’s family member, Charlotte (13 years old, YHC thinks…too young, in any case). She’s a strong kid, and no kid should have to suffer. Prayers for her parents and family as they are forced to endure the unimaginable impacts of cancer.

Prayers for YHC’s friends Becca (glioblastoma) and Mike (health trainwreck).

Keep our men and women in the uniformed services safe, and watch over our men and women who put their lives on the line in the intel community.

  • Happy Friday (the 13th)

Ran the same ol’ route today for the 3rd time. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. 9 men and 2 four-legged creatures of the suburbs ran some or all of the following:

Godwin launch, L on Pump, L on Falcon Bridge, L on Raintree, R on Ridgefield, L on Cox, L on Brookmont, L on Singing Wood, R on Buffapple, R on Pump, L on Burnside, R on Summer Wood, L on Glen Eagle, L on Old Prescott and back to Godwin HS.

BTTF for COT. Names. Numbers. Announcements: Bogey is a beast. He’s knocked out 4 F3 workouts in 4 days. Heck of a start. The Bridge needs a new lead. The only requirement is being good at nagging. Gypsy reminded us to pick up the phone and reach out to someone. You never know the positive impact it might have. Prayer requests: Charlotte, her family, Wojo’s family and Roger Roger’s family.

    YHC took us out.

Happy Friday (the 13th) yall! Go make someone’s day better. SYITG!

  • Paint Colors and Street Names

Determined to run anywhere but Pump or old school Bro Code, here’s where YHC directed the PAX today.

    MOLESKIN

According to a scientific study, today’s run was the greatest running Q of all time, the PAX ran further and faster than any group of 8 men has done in the history of time.  And the Q is the best-looking Q that ever lived.  Just presenting the raw data.  UpChuck moved into insurance only after his business naming paint colors and suburban streets fell on hard times.

  • Loreine is a new bro

It was Brocode Friday and nine of us did the Lake Loreine route brocode style. You can brocode anything and not just repeat the same boring route every month.

    Copperas can suck it!

Upchuck’s car was also there but we never saw him and Handshake also did something until his bowels told him to leave.

  • Ludicrous Speed

    Site Q, gonna Q.

    Here’s where:

    • L on Pump
    • L on Falconbridge
    • R on Raintree and cross Gayton
    • L on Cherrywood
    • R on Ednam Forest
    • R on Waltham
    • R on Cedarbluff
    • R on Cherrywood
    • L on Raintree
    • L on Maremont
    • Take the path
    • Back to Godwin and SF

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

The mist in our headlamps made the entire run feel like we were moving at ludicrous speed.  Shame on you if you don’t know where the reference comes from.  You’d probably dare to jam our radar with raspberry and your Schwartz definitely isn’t as big as ours.

  • Monkey Humper Salute

What is Michael Jackson’s favorite AO?  Currahee-hee!

Here’s where the Pax moonwalked today:

    • Circle behind Godwin and out Maremont right on Raintree
    • L on Falconbridge
    • R on Ridgefield and cross Gaskins onto path
    • L on Boardman
    • L on Rockstone Pl
    • Circle the end and give Hutton’s lady a Monkey Humper Salute
    • Continue back on Rockstone Pl
    • R on Boardman
    • Take path and cross Gaskins onto Ridgefield
    • L on Falconbridge
    • R on Raintree
    • L on Maremont
    • Take the path
    • Back to Godwin and SF

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

Welcome Banjo for his first tour of Currahee proper.  His real introduction will be getting lost in Deep Run Park.  Pinto gave us an Irish goodbye as we crossed over Gaskins.  Either Gypsy stood up Blue Moon or there was a miscommunication.  Somehow Handshake knew and went to the Tunnel.  Happy Friday the 13th, look out for crazed machete wielding hockey players.  Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, make your lady feel real special by buying all the discount flowers and candy on Sunday.

  • Crotch-Gate

A six-pax set off in search of clean-ish streets.  Three ruckers did that, and one septuagenarian played it safe.  Here’s where the Pax went:

    • Circle behind Godwin and out from Circus entrance on Pump
    • R on Pump
    • R on Buffapple
    • L on Singingwoods
    • R on Brookmont
    • L on Cox and circle the tip then reverso to Ridgefield
    • R on Ridgefield
    • L on Raintree
    • R on Windbluff
    • R on Willowick
    • R on Avenham
    • R on Raintree
    • R on Maremont
    • Take the path
    • Back to Godwin and SF

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

All 10 PAX were successful in today’s mission.  No injuries reported.  Gypsy’s 3.0 wore a sweet moomoo, but looked more like a canine snuggy.  Crotch-Gate is a thing.  Yahoo has the story.  Somehow it doesn’t involve our 1st F putting tube socks down his shorts.
