  • Where’s Gypsy?

8 road warriors met in the gloom to pound the streets of Westhoe, except for the guy that posted on slack yesterday reminding us that it’s again time for a Bro Code run. Despite this set back, the Bro Code run was executed in the traditional, counter-clockwise fashion, ensuring no man, or dog, was left behind. After discussing child rearing, business ideas, traveling for work only to do virtual meetings in a conference room and stories from EF Hutton’s Grow Ruck, it was decided: Lighthouse will be joining the juggernaut that is Westhoe’s Century Classic 2.0 team. Hutton, Honeydo, myself, some other dude – and now Lighthouse – are in. If you think hanging with us all night will be fun, or if you just can’t usually sleep or if you wanna wreck a weekend for no particular reason, see Hutton to sign up. We’d love to have you.

Announcements: Century Classic 2.0 May 2-3.

I’m Qing Dog Pile tmrw. Handshake wants me to simmer down, but I’m thinking about making a slaughter fest. You’ve been warned.

Fireman Ed Qs Grid Iron tmrw and will be celebrating his bday. Happy Bday early sir!

For April’s Physical Challenge, punctuality was considered with Fudd in mind.

No prayer requests. YHC took us out: Give thx for today and try to help someone before you put your head on the pillow tonight.

  • Sping time has come

11 pax post to Currahee this morning along 2 four legged friends. Route was given and everyone took off. All stayed together for about 1/2 mile then Pax split in 2. Some went the 4 mile route.. others went the 5 mile one.

Glad to have accountability partners. SYITG!

  • Short Pump Park

Eight chose the gloom over the warmth of an extra hour in bed. We split into groups based on speed, soreness, and levels of sickness and took off toward Short Pump Park. A straight shot—up and down—making it hard to get lost (but no guarantees). Mileage ranged from 4 to 4.5, depending on pace and how much you trust your GPS. Solid effort all around! Appreciate everyone showing up, and for those recovering—heal up and get back out there soon!

The PAX semi-failed at the leave no PAX behind edict today.  YHC was trying to do just that when Lighthouse and Mr. R pulled away not to be seen again.  Then YHC did lose Salt Lick somehow when he was breathing distance behind.  As Handshake and YHC called out for him a passerby assumed we’d lost our dog.  All’s well that ends well.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • 2nd F Lunch – Tuesday Joey’s Hot Dogs
    • Century Classic May 2-3 – Just HC no info needed
  • February Currahee Bro-code

It was cold. The Route was the Bro-code. 2 dogs and 5 pax joined up to do a mubblechatter pace 4.5 mile run. Coffee and donuts after.

no leaders or followers in Bro-code. We go as one and finish as one.

  • The cR4zY 8

Route was posted Thursday night. It allows for many alterations, but full route was 5.5 miles with 400+ feet of elevation gain.

Arrive at AO with temps in the teens. Quick discussion of route to hear that the route was “a little excessive”. Pace pairs talked about where to cut route to make it back 0615. Headlamps on.. It’s 0530, let’s mosey. YHC ran solo, so was not part of any Mumble Chatter. Back to flag with a few mins left so circle back for the 6. YHC does like this route. It is a challenging 5+ miler. Rollers the 1st 2 miles. Mile 2 to 3 is a steady grind uphill…a step Incline 4 miles. Then a nice downward grade for a mile back to the AO.

    Enjoy your day.

    thank you for the Accountability.

What’s it called when a 70 something goes missing?  IE the opposite of an Amber Alert?  Thankfully we didn’t have to find out.  Pigskin and running partner made it back safely.  Other topics of the morning, UpChuck’s current events, Wally’s haircut, Country Style’s amazing Apple Fritters, and applying to public high schools.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

Good luck to all who have completed the Honeymoon Suite the past 13 days, hope it pays off

  • Forgot the Backblast

no surprise to the regulars. I forgot to post the back blast. Gotta make sure Handshake gets his Big data point. 🙂

10 pax and 2 dogs took on Currahee. Temps were nice Fog was high. 2 routes. 3 groups and 2 solo. All math checked out by Lighthouse over coffee after Sunday 7@7.

    enjoy the Coffee and Donuts.

    prays for everyone.

  • No Balto or Togo, just Wally

Just like the historic dog sled run of 674 miles saving Nome, Alaska 100 years ago, by transporting an antitoxin for diphtheria across harsh terrain in 127.5 hrs, with temps going as low as -85 F, 6 gloom warriors bro coded under cold, pelting rains, pounding the mean streets of Westhoe beneath our powerful feet. With no dogs of fame such as Balto or Togo to carry us along, we had only a thoroughly soaked Wally, our wits, and a relentless pushing forward. We left no man behind, except for Pigskin, as he acted as great men do, plotting his own course.

Tales were told of home repair mishaps. Mysteries of flight 5342 were laid bare, revealing its truths. And dreams were swirling of uncharted csaups, as we recounted the many times we had already conquered the frozen triangle.

Today, for these men, there would be no fart sacking. Strength of character and mental fortitude would not allow it. Nay, today there would be only glory and wetness.

Prayers were offered to the Great Sky Q, that like today, we may brave all conditions, be they physical or otherwise, to be a light unto others, achieving our objectives, be they great or seemingly trivial, one small step at a time.

  • Challenge Accepted!

11 intrepid PAX met at this weeks edition of the West End run club. Temps externally were positively balmy, being in upper teens, internally it remained 70 degrees and sunny. There were even a few bare knees this morning!
YHC had the Q as part of the SOJ takeover week. The route was as follows, more or less:

Behind the school and onto Windbluff Dr

At end left on pepper hill

    Next left onto falconbridge

Go straight across into deep run park and onto the path. Follow paved path, taking a right at every intersection.

Right on turtle run dr at end of path

    Right on turtle creek dr

    At end right on Cox

    3rd left on brookmont dr

    At end left on crowncross

    Next right on thistle down

Next left onto Pump Rd, BTTF.

Route ended at a little over 4.5 miles at an easier mosey than usual. YHC made a wrong turn somewhere in the park. Thankfully Mr. Rogers came to the rescue and got us back to an area where my directions made sense again.

Numbers, Names, Announcements (see below), Prayer requests, YHC took us out. Coffeteria followed at DD.

    NMM

Great to be back to the West End for a run. Thank you gentlemen for the fine hospitality and putting up with a Q who had a route but didn’t know the area. Great place to run with a few choice hills and even a covered bridge that could have been out of a movie. Good to catch with PAX north of the river YHC had not seen in awhile. The title come from why I took the Q. EF Hutton laid down the gauntlet to dare a SOJer other than Doozy to take the Curahee Q. I like challenges, so I was game!

    Announcements
