  • Madam Wilson and the majestic woodpecker

Nine of Richmonds finest and one traveler from Charlotte decided to challenge Dogpile this morning. What rain? It was sunny and 70 for this morning’s edition. YHC was excited to get his first Dogpile Q under his belt. At the stroke of 6 off we went.

COP- Mosey to amphitheater. 20 each SSH, LBC’s. 10 each DQ’s, cherry pickers, Phelps, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, Russian soldiers,

The thang: Perform 5 merkins on bottom step, shout to another PAX to start when finished, run to other side increase 1 step, repeato until all Pax has snaked to the top. Repeato on way down with 10 LBC’s as exercise. Back up with 10 squats as exercise. On down all grab a step. Perform all 3 exercises on ends with shuffles, Bernies, etc. run across. 2.7 miles were logged. We picked up a Brad during the workout he tried to stay up but was struggling. Like shakedown said “Hopefully we brought some brightness to his day. Welcome to Brutus (What are odds we would have a scUM fan join on my first dogpile Q? Go Buckeyes) traveling in from Charlotte. He will be checking in with us every few weeks as he helps his daughter renovate her house here in Richmond.

Announcements: Lots coming up, lots going on. See Preblasts and Slack.

Prayers to all those PAX out there who could not make it , may the lord bring them back.

Always an honor to lead. Thank all of you for being brightness in my life.

    NMS

Today was a significant day for YHC as he finished up his F3 RVA time with the Q. Dogpile has always been a special AO since YHC remembers how much he struggled the first time he came to Dogpile in March 2016 and Sippy Cup’s workout destroyed him. It felt great!!

YHC has always had an uncanny liking of SSHs and the 100 SSHs “tradition” started on his one-year anniversary Q at Dogpile. It only seemed right and necessary to bring that back one more time.

The PAX went to work not only on the 100 SSHs IC but also throughout the whole time. The HRM Circuit provided an opportunity for YHC to make amends for wrongly calling out “every tree” instead of “every light pole” a few years ago during a similar workout. The PAX crushed the SSHs and completed it it faster than YHC had anticipated. The mumble chatter was strong throughout.

YHC took moments throughout the Q to be grateful for the PAX and the different spots around the Doppile AO.

I cannot thank God enough for F3 and for each of the men who have invested in making it what it is. It is true that we “get out what we put in” and many of you reading this have invested time, energy and leadership in F3 RVA. I will miss you and will be thinking of you as I seek to launch F3 North Jersey in the months ahead. My goal is to one day plant a flag in Central Park, New York for a Saturday morning workout/convergence.

Thank you for letting me lead today and for all that you mean to me.

    The Carpenter

p.s. Sorry for missing so many names. Please add them in the comments and I will update the list.

  • Triple What?

YHC grabbed this workout when there was a blank on the sheet for the Q. Knowing that EF Hutton had the Early bird runners YHC was able to convince Hash to join for this pre father’s day beatdown and here is what happened with 20 F3 Brothers this sunny and 70 degree morning.

    COP

We mosey to crop circle near Amphitheater for: 20 SSH, 10 DQ, 10 Hillbillys, 10 imperial walkers, 16 Russian Soldiers, 10 helicopters, 15 arm circle 10 small and 5 big, reverso, 25 4ct American Hammers, 10 Iron cross, 10 scorpions and 20 merkins.

    THANG

We mosey to the second crop circle at the top to the Triangle and set up for a ‘single’ triple check where each person lunges from crop circle to intersection, runs down the hill then dealer’s choice(some bear crawled, crawl bear, Bernie Saunders, or run/walk) up to crop circle, perform 20 merkins, then repeat 2 more times for a modified triple check.

We mosey to the Rusty Cage, partner up where Partner 1(P1) runs to hydrant and back. P2 – performs 5 pull ups, 10 merkins and 15 squats. P2 then runs to hydrant and back while P1 performs 5 pull ups, 10 merkins and 15 squats. We flap jack 2 more times to complete the 2nd modified triple check.

We then mosey through the woods down the pipe line to the road by the pump station. We circle up and divide into groups of 3 for a true triple check, P1 – Runs the pipe loop as the timer, P2 – LBC’s and P3 Air squats. when P1 returns he does LBC’s – P2 Air Squats and P3 Runs the pipe loop and finally P3 returns to LBC’s, P1 – Air Squats and P2 Runs pipe loop and this completes one rotation. YHC determines that we are good for 3 more reps for a triple check plus 1.

We then mosey up the hill by the public restrooms straight to the flag.

Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out.

    Moleskin

So this was a packed workout this morning and YHC wanted to be sure we worked off enough calories to enjoy a beer (or insert your favorite beverage) this weekend. It was great to see some faces I had not seen in awhile and we had Fudd return for some Father’s day fun this weekend.

Some announcements – We plan to have an F3 Convergence Saturday July 3 with the final AO being announced at Dogpile next week. Contact Corned Beef if you want to help and have suggestions. We have ultimate Frizbee coming up at the Forge. Next Weeks DogPile will be The Carpenter’s last workout before he moves to NJ so let’s bring it next week and I see some SSH in the near future as he has the Q.

For the Fathers in the group, have a great Father’s Day and everyone else have a great weekend. It was an honor to lead this morning.

    Cheers…CB!

    • YHC arrived early enough to watch the dynamic Breakfast Club duo, Gomer Pile and Hitchhiker, make their honorable entrance. YHC took a few minutes to review the plan before Q’ing two workouts back to back – but the sage advice of GP was well appreciate, “Fight the Enemy, Not the Plan” …in other words, have a plan in place, but be ready to adjust in order to win. Well, 0600 arrived, and the PAX took off, complemented by the down range powerhouse Linked In – welcome! Some highlights of the morning were a few rolled eyes with the 8-count No Cheat Merkins, nobody slipping to their death going up and down the wet amphitheater steps, the heroic effort and enthusiasm the entire PAX put into CRUSHING the Gun Show Dora, two separate “Bodos” salutes (blocks broken to smithereens), Gomer Pile hazing Bodos on his block curls quality, and the groans and mumble chatter accompanying the Murder Bunnies and BBJO’s to end the morning. YHC is honored as always to be a part of this group. Thx for letting me lead today brothers. SYITG, DTH

    Announcements:

Monday, June 7th (this Monday), The Punisher will start promptly at 18:00 at Lynwood Holton Elementary, perform some exercises, and then migrate to a watering hole nearby for the (usually) semi-annual Fellowship Q. It’s the 1st and 2nd F combined. This somehow counts towards the June Tour Challenge.

Puppy Pile is this Saturday at 07:00. For those not familiar, this is F3RVA’s kid friendly work out (all genders, all ages). YHC believes attendees have ranged from 3 to 18 over the years. Contests, prizes, games, and general hi jinx are expected (DTH has the details). Rumor has it that the contestant who tries the hardest will be entered into a drawing for a 2007 Honda with a “Perfect Service Record.” Of course it does.

Breaking Bread has two openings this summer (Thank you, Garbage Plate). July 24 and August 28 are open. YHC thanks any PAX in advance. Drop YHC a line for a quick overview of the activity. Basically, dinner for 10 or so folks recovering from medical issues, surgeries, etc. They and I thank you.

Please keep YHC’s friend Bam Bam in your prayers. He’s had a tough week following a heart attack on Wednesday. Best for a successful recovery.

    NMS:

Today brought a first rate sunrise, a nice feature of summer F3. Today’s “route” was a reprise of a workout led a few years ago by a Mr. Hard E. Wood, most recently of Amelia, Virginia. YHC was thinking through various memories of his 5 years with F3, and a couple of workouts came to mind. This memory was hazy, mostly because it involved several moments of actual or partial passing out (and we might have done something like this twice). According to Sippy Cup’s recollection, the original beat down was awful (meaning: miserably good), and included Sippy Cup carrying YHC (for sure, that happened). YHC maintains that Sippy must have been impaired or possessed, because Sippy only agreed to carry YHC as Sippy momentarily believed YHC and he were of comparable size. Sorry, pal.

Flatline reminded the PAX that tomorrow is the 77th Anniversary of the landings in Normandy (“D-Day”). As many of you know, YHC’s father (b. 1924) was part of that generation (and entered Europe across those beaches in the fall of 1944, long after the fighting had moved on). This is a good week to remember the various sacrifices that generation of men and women made for our country and their fellow humans. In fact, this weekend is also the anniversary of the various naval and air battles at Midway in 1942, a series of events which halted the tide of the war in the Pacific. Throughout that conflict, whether at home or overseas, each person had a role, whether large or small, in advancing the cause.

Let’s take a moment to ask what role each of us can contribute to the benefit of society in 2021.
