  • Thankful for you Hitch

    Warm-up:

YHC arrived early, full of hope and slightly overdressed for the chilly gloom. The parking lot was eerily quiet—no headlights, no chatter, no PAX. A solo workout loomed… until, like a hero emerging from the fog, Hitchhiker arrived! Together, we started with a mosey to the Carillon to shake off the cold and share the warmth of good company.

    The Thang:

The workout was a masterpiece of repetition and geometry. It went something like this:

    • Mosey to the Carillon.

    • At the star: 5 exercises.

    • Run to the bottom of the steps: 5 more exercises.

    • Up the steps: 5 more of something different.

    • Mosey around the top to the far side: 5 more of yet another exercise.

    • Down the steps: 5 repeats of that same exercise.

    • Return to the star: 5 finale exercises.

Rinse and repeat 5 times until your quads question your life choices and the stairs start looking more like an escalator you wish existed.

    Second Half:

After completing the five circuits and running back to the flag, the real fun began: a quest for caffeine. With Libby Market sadly closed, we pivoted to Starbucks, where Hitchhiker and YHC celebrated victory with hot drinks and hotter mumblechatter. Topics ranged from Thanksgiving plans to the art of writing, because every workout needs a creative cooldown.

    COT:

Big shoutout to Hitchhiker for showing up and saving YHC from a lonely gloom. Thankful for your friendship, the chatter, and the coffee run. For those PAX who ventured to the Bridge, hope it was epic. If you’re ever near the Carillon, give those steps a go—they’re humbling, but the fellowship is unmatched.

    Moleskin:

Remember, showing up makes a difference—even if it’s just one other guy. The gloom is always better with a buddy. Over and out, friends!

    SYITG,

    YHC

  • Finest AO in town: Heist’s beautifully clenched butt cheeks and further exploration with Handshake. Korean twerking at Libby Market???

Heyyo. A Baker’s dozen + 1 hit the mean streets of Richmond this morning for some good clean fun.

    5:30 a.m. let’s go.

Mosey towards the north-side of the field facing the beautifully renovated Carilion war memorial for a warmorama (wave hello to Handshake coming in out along the way). F3 Mission Statement and Disclaimer.

    Waromrama:

    1. Side Straddle Hops (20x)
    2. Ukrainian Soldiers (15x)
    3. Deadman hangs (center, left and right)
    4. Copperhead squats (10x)…note that perfect form includes a clenched butt cheek at the top.
    5. Walkdown to hand’s for 20 merkins
    6. Reverse scorpion kicks (10x)
    7. Scorpion kicks (10x)
    8. APDs (20x)
    9. Flutter kicks (20x)
    10. Rosco’s mom (left and right). Pulling in knee each one.
    11. Wilson’s wife
    12. Fudd’s wife

COP 1: Partner catch me if you can across the field towards the Carilion. Bear crawls, lunges, and broad jump burpee (some how we got really close to the end of the field and most only did like 10 yards of these).

COP 2: Carilion looked so nice, had to explore it. On the fly workout. Instructions were to do 2x dips on every other step up the right side of the Carilion, go around the upper area and down the left side down 2x incline merkins on every other step. Grumbling from Pax that we had too many people, so we split into two groups and switched sides.

COP 3: Longest triple check in the world at the Rugby Road/Pumphouse Drive triangle. Three rounds of 1. running the triangle (or cutting through the woods), 2. flutter kicks, and 3. squats.

COP 4: For context, Handshake through me the idea the night before of further exploration of the neighborhood southwest of Pump House Drive. With only 20 minutes left, Handshake led the way…for a modified DORA, some cul-de-sac touring, and river gazing. Oyster attempted three variations of the same joke that Heist couldn’t Q an entire workout (I think someone may have laughed at least one time). HA.

BTTF: Most followed Pull out for his long cut, which was basically the half-pipe route. We all got back to flag with a little overtime under our belt (only a few minutes).

    Numbers/Names.

I took us out in prayer. Thanks for coming out.

Good times at Libbie Market. I had the breakfast pizza and cornbeef hash. Coffee was extra hot today. Good discussions on DOGE, FED, Disney, HVAC, etc. At one point we looked over to see Hitch moving his hips in a saucy fashion, possibly Korean version of twerking.

P.S. the mean guy way there too

  • But, Sting. Or, buttsting? Or, busting?

Seven of Richmond’s finest dodged road closures and detours to launch at the latest edition of The Dogpile. Temperatures were 70 and sunny. According to YHC’s longtime neighbor, the following might have happened:

Mosey up, around, and through the park to the five pointed symbol in front of The Carillon for the COP.

    100 SSHs.
    Dead man hang
    Fudd’s Wife
Right leg high, left leg high
    Wilson’s Wife
    Pigeon (right, then left)
    HRMs x10
    WWIs, cause it’s The Carillon
    LBCs

Mosey 30 feet to surround the 5 pointed symbol for Not a Beast. 5 rounds. Each round has one exercise. 5 reps at each of 5 spots. Bottom of stairs, top of stairs, back of Carillon, top of other stairs, bottom of other stairs. Exercises were merkins, WWIIs, LBCs, squats, and 4-count flutter kicks. Bonus 6th round: still do 5 reps, but do all 5 exercises at each station.

Mosey not at all. Touch a Tree. The name says the game. 3, 6, 9 trees. Touching the Carillon counts for 3 trees. Use the Carillon more than once (hey, all the rules are out the window anyway), if you want, but only if you ascend and descend the stairs in between.

Mosey to Park Ave. Burpee Row. However, YHC likes to give people options – good options and bad options. Make your own choices. Each light post is 3 burpees. Each white parking post is 2 merkins. Either / or. Mix and match, if you wish.

Mosey back to the starting point, then go 30 more feet. Touch a Tree, Part Deaux. 12 trees, but don’t touch any of the ones touched the first 3 rounds (ah, a little memory test).

Mosey BTTSF. Two minutes of Mary. APDs and Rosalita’s.

Numbers, names, and Mr. Rogers took us out.

    Announcements:

Chili Will Be Cooked Off. November 24, afternoon. RounTrey, not “Round Tree.” Sign up. Make some excellent chili. And, engage in a contest. Push yourself, don’t burn yourself.

Heist and Hermes will combine their skills at The Bridge on November 30 at 7:30 a.m. DM Heist to join the clown car. Nice to see F3 men taking on a challenge and running with it.

Speaking of…December 14, OBT and YHC will head out to The Bridge. YHC has the Q. Curious about The Bridge and how you can help build character with your fellow men? Join us.

    NMS:

YHC was pleased to see the string of BMWs (we can’t all have Rivians) in the pre-dawn moonlight at Dogpile today with some OG’s joining…HoneyDo and Splinter.

Mumblechatter was strong today. Topics included HoneyDo’s camo shorts wardrobe, bond yields, deficits, W&M football tickets, scalping, creative destruction, and how putting intelligent, thinking humans in positions of responsibility matters. Interesting to see who people focused on and who they did not focus on. General agreement that character remains critical.

Speaking of resiliency, getting to Libbie Market today was a chore. Over the river, through the woods just to avoid the street closures. Unclear whether Hitchhiker was ever able to get home. Word is there was a Florence sighting at Libbie and Grove where he was doing a combination of arm circles and helicopters. No confirmation that academy plebes are rewarded with bright pink reflective vests rather than bright yellow, which is reserved for full police.

    UpChuck spits the bit.

  • The Weinke, the Tits, and the Carillon. Oh My!

Moleskin: No long moseys today at Dogpile, no love hill, no pipeline, no bridge or Rusty Cage.. 6 years in 60 minutes, we did all the things. It was great to back on the steps at the Carillon today. Well done boys!! Thanks for letting me lead.

  • Exploring new territory

Eight elite men gathered in a city park before sunrise for exercise and fellowship. YHC was excited to have the Q and make an attempt to find unexplored territory. 5:59 and 34 seconds Hitch rolls and up and at 0600 we launched. We moseyed a meandering route to our ultimate COP destination.

COP with all the hits to include Saab’s ball lickers.

Mosey down Rugby Road to Pump House Drive and up to James Falls Drive where we were greeted by a “Private Property”. At that point YHC was dismayed and decided to audible and mosey back up Pump House Drive and turned left on Butte Lane. With the Elite Eight we got in (2) groups of 4 and did a Quad Check. Partner 1 runs 100 yards out and back while P2 does Squats, P3 does HRM’s, P4 does WWII’s. 4 rounds.

YHC decided to take a second crack at the new territory. YHC said we’d run quietly back into the new neighborhood. Back up James Falls Drive, right on Tow Path Lane W and complete the loop of Tow Path Circle. After completing the loop we moseyed down Tow Path Lane S to the Cul-de-sac. Partner up for (3) rounds of 20 of Wilson’s Boxing Dying Cockroaches.

With 15 minutes we moseyed back up Tow Path Lane S and right on Tow Path Lane W to Pump House Drive. Mosey down Pump House Drive to the bottom. With a couple minutes to burn YHC decided to introduce The Godfather (OBT) to YHC’s Pencil Rolls. OBT’s Apple Watch believing he had taken a spill was ready to call an Ambulance.

Complete our mosey back up Pump House Drive to Park Drive back to the flag.

Announcements – Faceplant is on the docket for OBT’s new Saint Christopher’s Track Workout on Monday. Upchuck is celebrating his 22nd anniversary today. Upchuck is getting checked out for a Brain Tumor. Upchuck is getting a group together to go to The Bridge in December.

Prayer Requests – Fudd’s sister, Mary. Faceplants M is recovering for a Brain Tumor. Upchuck is getting checked out for a Brain Tumor.

NMS – we had a great time today. Solid group, nice weather. Great 1980’s/1990’s movie/comedy talk at Libbie Marker. It was a pleasure to lead today.

  • A nice spring day in October

Eight men emerged from the gloom thinking it was a Saturday in October but apparently it was a Saturday in April. In any case, according to the equally confused deer this is what transpired…

COP: SSH, Helicopters, DQ, DMH, IW, Copperhead Squats, Merkin, LBC, APD all IC

Mosey to the end of the field for a down and back on the boulevard, turning at Garrat. 2 Merkins at each lightpost down, increasing burpees at each light post on the way back.

Saunter down to the opposite end of the field for The Beast (6 modes of movement, 6 exercises, 6 sets): 1 – Run/Arm Circles, 2 – Bernie/American Hammers, 3 – Karaoke/LBC, 4 – (Half field) Bear crawl/Squats, 5 – Walk or lunge/SSH, 6 – Run/monkey humpers (YHC: This is what I wrote down but seems like it was actually different. Serves me right for not getting BB written sooner)

Head over to the good ole amphitheater and perform 5 dips on each step on the way down, on the way back up perform two V-Ups on each step.

Return to the flag for Mary: 20 LBC’s in cadence, 10 APD’s in cadence, short savasana.

Happy Birthday to Gambler! Reminder to look for opportunities to support Breaking Bread. Groups are making trips to The Bridge – all are welcome.

Prayers continue for Fudd’s sister and family and wishing a speedy recovery for Faceplant’s M.

It was great to see Goldberg found the opportunity to join us and we got to catch up at Libbie Market over cheesy eggs.

We then did 5 another burpees for fun. Next, run to the top.

  • Rachel

Forteen warriors in the gloom, one topic of conversation for 90 minutes straight. We worked out around the lake, amongst the deer, and with an unusually great number of car traffic. Micro-blocks were used and the conversation was plenty.

    YHC took us out.

2nd F at Libbie Market next disappoints.

    Prayer Requests – non

NMS – solid morning at DP. Conversations ranged from how some prefer it wet and some prefer dry with high-friction, you needed to be there to understand the context. Conversations also about Life Insurance and its value. Lastly, YHC is writing the BB because Swirl Y was headed out of town and didn’t have time to write it up. YHC wanted to stay on-brand with Swirly and misspell “Mosey” over and over.
