  • Charlie on the MTA

YHC had a chance to Q this morning in SoFl. Solid group of dudes. They write BBs slightly differently, name FNGs on Day 2, and carry coupons when everywhere. And, these guys push themselves in some brutally humid conditions. Enjoy the BB.

    Backblast: UpChuck
    Date: 2025-08-07
    Time: 05:30
    Where: #ao-the-possum
    Q: UpChuck (Tim)
    PAX: Apehangers , 5K , Starbucks , Pre-blast (DR), 007 (DR), Sandbag, UpChuck (Tim)
    Coupons: Technically, yes, but, meh.

Six, ahem, seven, men of action threw off the lure of the Fart Sack in the latest edition of The Angry Possum. Conditions remained 70 and sunny. According to the burping frogs and local legend, the following quite possibly happened.

Note: YHC is including the names of some F3 Hall of Famers who taught YHC these evolutions. Where YHC miscredits the person, YHC apologizes.

Slow-sey around the parking lot. Circle up for the COP. 100 SSHs (thank you to Starbucks for the welcoming smiles while counting with YHC). Dead Man Hang, right leg high, left leg high, pigeon R, pigeon L, cherry pickers, hill billies, copperhead squats, flutter kicks, and some guys did some weird bent knee thing that looked like a flopping fish.

Touch-a-Tree (@hardywood): Partner up. Rounds of 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2. You run and touch the appropriate number of trees. Your partner does an exercise until you come back, or, if your partner is Sandbag (our FNG), time expires. Exercises were reverse crunches (10, 8), hello Dolly (6, 4), and burpees (2). Sandbag is still out there doing the round of 6, we think. (YHC is considering re-naming him “Charlie on the MTA,” after the song by The Kingston Trio. Look it up.)

Parking Space Trio (@chum bucket): 3 merkins, 3 WWIIs, and 3 squats. Optional Pencil Roll (@handshake) between spaces. Any man can call “Leroy Jenkins” (@splinter) at any time during the exercise, and the PAX runs to Winn Dixie. The PAX adopted this enthusiastically. Kudos to @pre-blast for knowing the back story.

Wrap up the Parking Lot Trios, mosey back to the shovel flag, and one round of 20 curls for the girls. Numbers, names, and Starbucks took us out.

    Announcements:
Starbucks has the Q this weekend. See Slack for details.
There may be a ride this evening. Pull for strong evaporation between now and 6 p.m.
Welcome, Sandbag! He’s an FNG who has joined the United States Navy! Boot camp starts in a couple of weeks. Thank you for your service, and all the best!

    Upchuck spits the bit.

  • [Titan]Nashville Hot!

Ole Beaver is back on the road! This time in Nashville TN on Music Row and by golly was it hot this week(by a country mile some would say). Run a country mile from hotel to AO. 13 F3 studs emerged from the gloom to have Copycat Q a 2 round decathlon around Centennial Park. We also had a young man passing by our workout we invited in and so he did! Turns out he just came in from Kenya yesterday, now known as Raddish. I met Wolfpack – claims he’s been to Timberwolf, visits his sister in RVA. Spinal Tap says hi to SaltLick, not the first time I’ve heard Spinal Taps name. Run a country mile back to the hotel.

Moleskin – reach out to a close relative or friend you haven’t spoke with in quite sometime.

  • Three at the Clinic

Three, yeah, 3, hit the mean streets in and around 1230 South Pine Island Road in the latest edition of The Clinic. Conditions were 70 and sunny. According to the Miami Dolphins players headed to training camp, the following might have happened.

Apehangers (F3 SoFL Nantan) and Fletch rucked 2 miles, covering multiple loops around the lake.

YHC ran 4.1 after the group started a tad late due to the new guys at the AO.

Numbers, names, and YHC took us out.

NMS: great to have additional guys out at The Clinic, now officially an OTB site for F3 SoFl. These guys started in December, and they are up to about 7 AOs already across Broward County. Good group of dudes.

Announcements: This will continue as an OTB AO for the time being, but YHC suspects we’ll have a regular AO as we pull in more local guys. Second, no takers among the Dolphins players headed to Training Camp, but clearly a couple dudes wondering who we were to be ready to run even as they boarded SUVs for their work.

  • Burger Night

Only one posted for the run but two connected for burger night. After some catching up and sharing stories, Vinny asked if YHC was posting with the boys in the AM. Needing to get some miles in, YHC declined.

Later last night YHC was surprised with preplanned routes courtesy Vinny. Although he didn’t show, he gets credit for the Q.

    The Route:

4s: Front nine and back nine.
5s: front nine, back nine, amen corner.
6s: front nine, back nine, amen corner, east 9

YHC chose the 5s route and modified due to the soup.

    Moleskine

Great catching up with Vinny. Even if by accident and for a few minutes. F3 is good people, in RVA and in Charlottesville.

    Splinter out.

  • Searching for The Clinic

YHC heard the F3 RVA satellite office known as The Clinic was located somewhere in the sunshine state. After five days and 25mi rucked along the redneck riviera, still no sign of any glowing neon calling YHC home. Still a couple more days and miles under load to go. Will report back.

  • The Race Track

Great workout this morning. 13 southerners emerged for a solid beatdown! Met a PAX – Topanga down here, says he used to live in Midlothian. Also met a guy from NJ Steve Austin, says he’s works out with The Carpenter who also used to live in Richmond.

  • Bridge Triad

YHC was ready for a great morning with the Bridge residents to lead a workout and had two stops to pick up others from RVA for the ride out to Buckingham, VA. Here is what went down.

Had a 5:15am pick up of Surf n Turf at Food Lion in DaVille, then a 5:45 pickup on Route 60/288 at the Wawa where Pucker jumped in for a ride. We waited until 6 am with no others showing up we were off. We arrived at the AO about 15 minutes early so we took some time to visit the recently completed great hall center complete with a full commercial kitchen. More in Moleskin below>

    COP

Three were present from campus and we circled up for 20 ssh, 10 4ct helicopters, 10 DQ’s, 15 arm circles (10 small and 5 big), reverso, then 10 Imperial walkers, 20 LBC’s, 10 4ct american Hammers, 10 reverse scorpions and 20 merkins.

    THANG

We started with Escalator with corner 1 10 merkins, corner 2 20 squats, Corner 3 30 lunges and corner 4 40 2 count flutter kicks, back to 30 lunges, 20 squats and 10 burpees.

We started a triple check round where we each teamed up to have a workout teammate Pucker/Ghost, Surf n Turf – Bucket and YHC and links. Links and YHC started to run the lap as the timer, the other two stations were Plank and LBC’s.

Cisco showed up and Joined Pucker’s team to keep this going.

We did another triple check, running laps as the timer with the other stations were S2 – Squat and S3 – flutter kicks.

We then moseyed to the shack and lunged to the gate and returned to the basked ball court.

Staying in our paired teams, we did a 3rd triple check with station 1 – suicides on the bball court as the time, station 2 dips and station 3 step ups.

Mosey back to the big lot and planked for a Ring of fire where each member stated F3 name and then performed 5 merkins.

    COT

Numberama, namerama, Pucker took us out in prayer.

    Moleskin

After our workout we shared some gatorade and coffee with everyone prior to leaving the campus. We stopped at the diner on Route 60 on the way back for a nice breakfast and some time to catch up.

What a great morning and see the vision and mission below of the Bridge

Vision – the vision of the bridge is to bring people of all different backgrounds, ethnicities, races and religions together to experience each others talents, ability, culture, and the gifts we have to serve those in need. From our service we fulfill a need within ourselves as we share our gifts and talents with each other.

Mission – The Bridge works to transform the lives of individuals by providing mentoring, vocational skills, education and the relationships they need to bridge the gap to productive community and family life. We accomplish this through the love of people, love of community, love of country, standing together in faith, trusting God and each other.

Hope to see you in the gloom soon gents…you missed a good one!

    Have a great weekend … Cheers …CB!

  • III Pillars AO – Brentwood TN

Beaver got called to an emergency job out in Nashville TN region this week. Roughly 15 HIMs showed up this gloom for a leg day beatdown led by Yum Yum. We had an FNG from Hamilton Ontario Canada we named Treudont. Met a PAX member, Spencer Wesgard whose family sold land to Sierra Pacific which is my employer.
    Great beatdown!

  • The Bridge is Back – Be a High Impact Man

The Bridge is Back – Be a High Impact Man

The Bridge is back. Time to make an impact.

F3 RVA joins forces with F3 Charlottesville to help support The Bridge Ministry. This is a facility in Buckingham where men in crisis (meaning: men transitioning from the prison system or trying to stay out of prison)learn the skills needed to integrate back into society. HVAC, plumbing, vehicle repairs, electrical, carpentry, construction, and so forth. These crafts all offer methods of building men who can make a strong, positive impact in their communities.

F3 RVA (and Amelia) has 6 sets of guys ready to lead (and we are always open to more). At any time, reach out to Heist, Hardywood, TYA, Whitesnake, Corned Beef, TYA, or UpChuck for details on how to join and when. And, we are always interested in expanding – if you are looking to build your leadership skills and make a tangible impact, let us know. We’d be happy to have another dedicated man join this team of leaders.

    Here are the upcoming dates:

April 26 Corned Beef has the Q.

May 10 Hermes has the Q.

In the course of one short morning, you’ll hit all 3 F’s, and you’ll make some friends in the process.

Transportation is OYO, with a heavy emphasis on Clown Cars. The Bridge starts at 7:30 a.m. sharp in Buckingham, so figure about an hour car ride. Beat down is 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. Coffeeteria is on-site until about 8:45/9:00. The ride back often includes a stop for breakfast with arrival back around 10:30 / 11 a.m. Boom!

So, pick a date, reach out to the Q, make a commitment to attend, and make an impact (on someone else).

    Let’s do this!

  • more Tool than I’ve heard in the last 30 years. Love it!

3/13/2025. 15 ITG for a journey. “Look forward to every day as you are about to embark on a great adventure” (Major Doug Zembiac, USMC).

Warm-up: mosey to adult playground. Hop, groove and jumping-jack to music. 1/2 way thru, do 1 full range, controlled pull-up. Continue in a relaxed fashion. Did approx 10 pull-ups each. Back to warm up to fast pace music. Lots of jumping jacks. HR was up.

Mosey to Western Av. Anytime “Jungle Boogie” was playing, we were doing fitness. This time was OYO Merkins. Maybe you did 15. Maybe you did 35. Who knows. Mosey to other side of Solidier Field Rd. JB to Air Squats. Mosey to outside amphitheater adjacent to the Charles.

Thang: The journey began with an explanation. Your humble Q had a mission to create something and the ask was to follow along. We breathed our way into the start of a 12+ min song and then as a unit, we crushed fitness as a team, together, to synchronized movements to the songs different parts. The exercises were varied, the tempo changed, but the message was simple. We are all warriors, but we struggle nevertheless. If we do it together, we are stronger. Our shield is not as heavy, our burdens are lighter. 12:44 seconds later, we were more fit, and emerged tighter. The journey will continue nevertheless…

Mosey back, JB played and it was mountain climbers into air squats.

Three stretches were requested and performed. @Gomer Pyle RVA led us on the final one. He can tell you the name.

    COT…let us not forget perspective.

Coffee: Starbucks killer @Jello for the W.

    1. Forgot the pic bros.
