  • Sunday FUNday

Welcome to F3RVA, where breaking away from the status quo serves the F3 Mission, brings families together, creates momentum and space for FNG’s, and where we get to have a whole lot of fun together in the process!

The usual runners took off for BRR training while 23 ruck-loving F3 Dad’s, a gaggle of awesome kids, and a couple FNG’s hit the North Bank trail towards the city. The PAX stopped to count off a few times, stopped at about the 40min mark within sight of skyscrapers, snapped a group pic, and then reverso marched BTTVSF for a total of 3.3 miles in 90 minutes.

    COT:

    • Counterama # 30
    • Namerama
    • Announcerama (see Below)
    • YHC took the PAX out in Prayer

    Prayer Requests:

    • Pool Boy’s 15 year old cousin getting scans for Melanoma
    • Offshore’s Dad passed away a couple weeks ago

NMS:  Awesome numbers out this morning and welcome to all our FNG dads and kids!  FNG NICK is a Poolboy’s friend and he’s gonna come out to Goyne Park soon to get nicknamed with those guys. FNG MATT is Rodeo Clown’s new neighbor and he’s excited about plugging in with the Midlo PAX. If there’s ever a question about whether changing things up at an AO might prove beneficial, remember today. Yours AYE! ~DTH

NMS:  The initial question was “Is it the SOJ takeover again?” and then “Where are you hiding the logs?” Haha… Beautiful morning to be back with the Gridiron Gang, and YHC promised something they’d enjoy, and no burpees. This same musical routine (less songs/time) was provided to our elders at 45MoM earlier in the summer. Was pleased to see all the PAX singing along to these classics – and who knew Pigskin has a great singing voice! Is there anything that man can’t do?! Anyway, it was a solid you-vs-you beatdown, and everyone agreed we owe a beer to Gypsy for escorting his bulging companion off the premises. Someone lend that man a pair of shorts! Until next time fellas, Yours AYE! ~DTH

    And why not, right?

This was the first official session of F3 Das Vaterland – unfortunately due to bad marketing we were a Pax of 1 – me, myself and I…

According to the bewildered passerby’s this is what might have happened on this sunny 70 degree day in Stuttgart Germany:

    The Thang:

    Numberama: 1
Namerama – announcements and YHC took us out.

  • Happy 100th, Dad

16 exceptional men joined YHC in celebration for the latest edition of First Watch. Conditions remained 70 and sunny. According to my father watching over us, the following might have happened:

    Carolina Drydocks

    Hillbillies
    LBCs

    1940s – Dad served from 1943-1946, USAAC/AAF. ETO.

Triple Check. WWIIs, Flutter Kicks, Army Crawl 30 yards.

50s…we tried, and time took this from us. But, 5 burpees, then traverse ~50 yards (in the dark, maybe this was 30).

Variety of options for traversing…wheelbarrows, partner carry (some PAX knew better), Bernie, AYG Sprint, bear crawl, army crawl.

Time was growing short, so Mosey BTTSF, stopping off at Saab’s driveway for the obligatory 20, 4-count Monkey Humpers. If anyone was peering out the window, the got a dog’s eye view of Honeydo’s keister (and everyone else’s).

Numbers, names, and we ate cupcakes and pecan sandies and swigged Gatorade for the COT. YHC gave a note of thanks to this group for their friendship.

Happy birthday to my dad, 100 years young today. As the lady said when they gave my mom his flag at Arlington National Cemetery, “On behalf of a grateful nation…” Thank you, Dad, for being a wonderful parent and a patriot for this country.

  • Pickle Elbow

Four gloom compadres converged at Atlee HS for the Daville Monday Bootcamp option. YHC prize for recent Pickleball participation is apparently a Pickle Elbow (of course Beat It knew all about this), so we focused on legs and abbs today. That was me for 4.5 miles. Proof that you can achieve anything you set your mind to!

The other seven also ran or rucked their way with the main route being Pump to Church and then down and up three neighborhoods: Sterlingwood, Chapelwood and Lake Lorraine. This route proved that Church Road is the high point as all three neighborhoods, 2 on 1 side of Church and 1 on the other, started downhill and of course, ended uphill.

I successfully raced home while most everyone else did coffee and donuts at Dunkin.

  • My Q? Snuff Q? + the debut of Rev

Blame the Russians! Some how, I signed up to Q, but the Q sheet appeared open for the Forge, so Snuff signed up ready to rock! Anyway, Snuff kicked it over to me at 5:29:59. No problem. Let’s go.

Warmorama by flagpoles: Provided F3 mission statement, core principles, and disclaimer.
Exercises were: SSH/Deadman hangs/CHs/Ukranians soldiers/DQ/merkins/LBCs/APDs/flutters/ and Rosco’s Mom stretches (my fav!)

COP 1: 11s using the amphitheater stairs. 1 squat to start. Box jump or lunge up. 10 erkins at top. Continue on 2/9,3/8……10/1. Al Gore for six. 20 second count.

COP 2: Mosey to the field gate. Locked. Mosey back to the wall for a Pigskin inspired COP. 4 rounds of hoedowns/milkers/donkey kicks sandwiched with 5 burpees each round. Did my best “OYO” impersonation of the man/myth/legend himself. Not as good as the real thing. Respect Respect Respect Sir!

COP 3: Mosey back to front of school. Triple check. Runner goes down about 75 yards towards field and back. Team rotating between carolina dry docks and flutters.

BTTF for three minutes of cool down stretches.

Numbers/Names and Rev!: I asked our newest Pax member Raymond (69 y/o African American built like Pigskin) to come to the center of the COT to provide an introduction and get his new name. Paraphrasing here (trying my best to capture the moment)

First and most important, I am born again. I saw this group last week praying (referring to the COT) and I asked myself “are those guys praying?” I knew these guys were the type of men I wanted to be around, so I got here at 5:05 a.m this morning (I wasn’t going to miss it). This country needs leadership more than ever. God and liberty (some reference to founding fathers and Patrick Henry’s “give me liberty or give me death” speech). This country and our communities, now more than ever, need to be lead by men who are devoted to Jesus Christ. I will be back.

    And…that’s how we got “Rev.”

    Announcements:

    2. Labor Day (9/2) convergence. 7 am at the new AO Nuchols Farm Elementary.
    3. 9/21 convergence 7 am. Dog Pile

    Prayers:

    1. Tragic car accident off Buford road last night in front of Lastcall’s home.
    2. Pray for DTH church members and their new journey with Christ.
    3. Prayers for the kids back to school next week.

Thanks for letting me lead dudes!

  • Back In The Saddle

After a 2 week hiatus, YHC return to F3 and was welcomed by 3 other Davillians and 2 Summer Tourist

Here is how it went down

Runners – Completed loops around Atlee Station road from the light at Chamberlayne to the light at the top of the fly over. YHC got in around 3.5 miles while Phonics and Trout finished with the Bojangles loop getting in around 4.5 miles

Ruckers – Bulkhead took our Tourist around Rutland and Sancerre getting in around 2.5 miles

Great to meet Choo Choo and Beaver this morning. Excited to hear they are looking to launch an AO in New Kent soon!

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • “I smell like dog piss”

EF Hutton got his Summer Tour point today and got to enjoy the aroma of Short Pump dog park. He came from Broga, so his odor might have nothing to do with the fine aged urine we ran by this morning.

We ran 3.35 miles total today, did 11’s of Derkins and Dips and one round of running the bases with the home plater timer doing 10 burpees and exercises at each base of WW2, Squats and Flutters.

The backblast title is the text I got from Hutton during his drive home.

Labor Day convergence at Nuckols Farm Elementary at 7AM. This will be a new Monday AO to be named later (Nuckols-Deep, the Fox Den, Britny Fox, Funny Farm,…)

  • Please Don’t Ride Over Faceplant

Five runners hit the circle of vrroom today in the latest edition of Sunday Funday. Temperatures remained 70 and sunny. According to the lone rider intent on squishing Faceplant into the dirt, the following might have happened.

South bank (Buttermilk), T-Pottersfield, North Bank, BTTVSF. 1x loop for most of us (6.5 miles or so).

Anthrax x2 loops. If you start earlier, you get the trails to yourself, and you get to break all of the spider webs.

Numbers, names, and YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

Pickleball Tournament. This Saturday. 06:00 a.m. Forest Hill Park. Sign up in advance.

Rumor has it no Dogpile due to Pickleball. Need a confirmation from Bootleg.

August 21: My dad’s 100th Birthday. Come out and celebrate (and celebrate your own Dad). First Watch. 05:00.

The Bridge has re-started due to the commitment of 7 studs. The Bridge is a ministry-led educational program for men coming through, and we hope out of, the prison system. It’s in Buckingham, Va.

Each of the men below has agreed to organize others from his immediate workout area. Call this a nano-region or a micro-region or some other F3 nom de guerre of your choosing. It’s the guys you work out with regularly. These seven will organize you into a group to visit The Bridge twice a year. Simple enough.

    State Farm – Goyne Park
    Heist – Alamo
    Hardywood – Amelia
    Whitesnake – Gridiron
    Corned Beef – DaVille
    TYA – City Proper
    UpChuck – Tuckahoe

BTW, someone asked YHC, “Where are the other areas?” Great question. Candidly, if you don’t see your area represented, you can be the guy to lead, all you need to do is step forward. We can expand our investment almost limitlessly (up to 52 weeks/year). “F3’s mission is to reinvigorate male community leadership.” Here’s an opportunity to work with F3RVA’s finest on a mission to help other men. Let’s go!

    UpChuck spits the bit.
