Tuckahoe Elementary

  • Upchuck’s Hair Styling Tips

A little bit of mumble chatter to get things going and then a long stroll down to Trinity for COP. Don Quixote, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, and SSH to start us off.

Dora 1,2,3 – 100 Carolina Drydocks, 200 Monkey Humpers, 300 Flutter Kicks while the other partner runs the long straightaway to the road and back.

Mosey around back for Triple Check. Partner 1 runs the small back parking lot while partners 2 and 3 do Plerkins.

Pick up Rock Creek and jog up to Marv’s. 10 HRM in his honor. Down the road to Westham for 20 Jump Squats. Down the road a little further for 30 4-count American Hammers and then finish up a Lindsey with 12 Boo-Yah Merkins. Jog it back to the AO.

3×20 PLTs to work those abs. Off the to benches for Two sets of 20 dips. Then time for Mary – Rosalitas, Hello Dollies, Flutter Kicks, LBCs, and Alabama Prom Dates.

    YHC took us out.

    Time to Taper,

    Lockjaw

  • Please adjust my balls

A Fabulous Five gathered at Hoedown to start a new week. Here’s how it went down:

    COP: SSHx25 // DQx20 // Helicoptersx10 // Armcirclesx15, Reverso // Lutinent Dans x10 // Merkins x10 // LBCsx15

Mosey to Third Church back parking lot

    Four Corners: VUpsx10 // Hand Release Merkins x20 // Jump Squats x30 // WW2s x40.

Suicide Burpees: Run to the first parking line line, do 1 Burpee. Run back to the curb. Run to the second parking lot line, do 2 Burpees. And so forth, up to 10.

HUNGRY HIPPPOS: One man in each corner, crab walk to the center at which was stationed a baby pool filled with plastic balls, grab as many balls as possible, bear crawl back to the corner and desposit balls in bucket. Repeat for 5 minutes.

    Mosey back to Tuckahoe lot.

    COP: Flutterkicksx25 // American Hammersx25// LBCsx25

    Namerama, COT.

NMS: YHC attempted a competitive game of human hungry hippos that devolved into chaos, much because the game was ill conceived by YHC, but also because Upchuck and Handshake were overtaken by their competitive instincts. YHC did not give precise instructions about how many balls were permitted for each trip to the center, which resulted in Upchuck stuffing all his clothing and orifices with as many balls as possible. This also resulted in many amusing quotes of the day, such as “Please adjust my balls,” “The balls are touching my nipples,” and “The sweaty balls are stuck to my back.” YHC will never attempt this again. Nor will YHC report to his church youth department that the church’s plastic balls were employed in this way.

Also, great to have Viral back!!

  • Blocks with Friends

Nine men, stallions one and all, refused to take a day off for Columbus, or anyone else who didn’t discover America, in order to spend their sunny and 70 morning at today’s edition of Hoedown. Here’s what Mr. Heshem says he witnessed:

    COP:

Slow mosey two times around the horseshoe, then circle up in the main parking lot. SSHs, IMs, DQs, LBCs, FKs, and HRMs, then a quick set of arm circles to limber up for…

    11s:

First, grab a cinderblock from YHCs van. Mosey to Flag. 11s…Derkins and Rosalitas. Run across small parking lot to complete the circuit.

On your six, elevate block, and six inches for the Six.

    Mosey to the Wall:

    Triple check…
First man has a choice make…two cinderblock-free laps around the horseshoe OR carry cinderblock up two short flights of steps and around to the wall? Decision-making in The Gloom can be tricky, but YHC is the kind of Q who believes in diversity, so try one round of each, decide which you like better, and do that one again for Round 3.

Partner 2 is doing Wonderbra with the coupon while also doing People’s Chair.

Partner 3 lifts block above chest while doing flutter kicks.

    Blockee’s Loop

Keep that block close and mosey to the Flag. Do 3 blockees and run the loop. Repeat 3x. Eh, let’s make it 4 times. Check that, let’s make it 5 times.

Return blocks to van, and circle up for Mary. LBCs x40, 10 count APDs, and a Ring-of-Fire with reverse crunches while Merkins make the loop.

Number-a-ma, name-a-rama, YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

Handshake won the Beer Mile, but who’s keeping track? Faceplant came in second. Greenbow learned that Gingerbeer stings.

Sign up for Breaking Bread. If you are not sure what this is, just make a simple dinner for 10 or so folks who can use some fellowship on a Sunday evening. You’ll be a better man for the experience.

Today is Thanksgiving in Canada. Take a moment to remind yourself of what you have, and think about how to help someone who needs a lift – material, spiritual, or otherwise.

  • Speak of the Devil

A Lucky 7 or Redwood Pax showed up for a nice little beatdown. Cooler temps prevailed and Fall was finally in the air.

Off to the front of the school for COP.

    • SSH
    • Don Q
    • Russian Soldiers
    • Copperhead Squats
    • Scorpion Kicks

Off to the church across the street being sure to mind the Gomer Pyle speed bump. Red Barchetta was called for the front parking lot including 100 SSH, 75 LBCs, 50 Mountain Climbers, 25 Merkins. There was talk about “doing a dukes of hazzard slide” across the the hood of a car in the way. However, this Subaru Forrester had a hood scoop that might get in the way or leave a mark.

Mosey to the back church parking lot for Ascending 4 Corners.

    • Corner 1 – 10 HRM
    • Corner 2 – 10 HRM, 20 4-count American Hammers
    • Corner 3 – 10 HRM, 20 4-count American Hammers, 30 Jump Squats
    • Corner 4 – 10 HRM, 20 4-count American Hammers, 30 Jump Squats, 40 Donkey Kicks

I said there were 7 of us, but up to this point there were only 6. Bodos literally emerged from the shadows behind the church wall and joined us. Timing is everything and it was good to have him.

Now for some Church Triple Check – Partner 1 runs the length of the parking lot and back; Partner 2 does BTTW; Partner 3 does Flutter Kicks.

Mosey back to Hoedown for some 11s: Bicycle rack merkins and step jumps.

Mosey around back for a medley of Mary and other exercises including: Flutter Kicks, APDs, left leg raises, right leg raises, BTTW, Merkin Ring of Fire, Running a lap of the horseshoe, and 5 Burpees to close it out.

    Moleskin

The Pax was chatty today. Prior to Bodo’s arrival, there was a lot of critiquing of the church grounds. Opportunities for improvement, odd placement of features, and an unscorable basketball hoop. Bodo’s heard this numerated list despite already being off to a bad start due to cleaning up the aftermath of a dog in a trashbag that delayed him. He took it in stride and politely redirected the complaints.

Ronnie loves to talk car insurance and fat shaming Pax members with girth. The latter may have been out of actual concern for the odd noise produced during the HRMs, but almost unleashed an Upchuck counterattack. A sign to the Q that he should have neutralized that chatter with a dose of burpees.

YHC took us out reflecting on the 2-year anniversary of Hoedown and with a challenge to pay forward three unexpected acts of kindness today.

    Announcements

    • November 8 – Greenbow has a charity event for a good cause. See him for details.
    • There was something else, but YHC cannot recall.

    Time to Taper,

    Lockjaw

  • This One is Heavier

9 high-brow West Enders and 1 Powhatanian landed at F3RVA’s darkest AO this morning to beat some drums and wake up the neighbors. Fortunately, we were all able to work through our previous commitments with Downtown Abbey, Hamilton, picking up dry cleaning, and Tea & Crumpets prior to 0530 to be able to get to work in the gloom today.

The Q showed up with pickup bed full of truck tires, and thanks to the help of a few of the PAX we had them out and ready to go in short order. Here’s how it went down:

Mosey around the bus loop 2x and back over to the East end of the parking lot next to the tires.

Disclaimer & Warmup COP:- Invisible Jump Rope x20- DQ x10- LBCs x20- APDs x20- Decline hand-release merkins on tires x10 OYO

Triple check:- Pax 1 flip tire across short width of parking lot and back- Pax 2 do 20 merkins then plank- Pax 3 do WWII sit-ups

Tabata: step ups on tires for 20 seconds on / 10 seconds off for 4 minutes

Mosey a lap around the bus loop and back to the tires

Rolling tire races: Line ’em up and roll the tires across the length of the parking lot to the cones at the end and back. Take the competition through a bracket to determine the winner (EF Hutton & Bodos with the photo finish!). The rest of the PAX does core exercises and dodges out of control tires.

Cool down COP:- Rosalitas- Freddie Mercuries- Ring of Fire

    NMM:

Thanks for indulging YHC this morning in an unconventional Q. The objective was for a fun but challenging change of pace. As expected, those tires were heavy and difficult to flip! A few other items were planned but we ran out of time.

Also a shout-out to McCarthy Tire in Rockville for the props today, despite the expectation that these “small” tires were to be used for some kids. The tires will be returned tomorrow, as YHC did not want to have to move them again today…

10 / 3 = 3 R1 . . . OR . . . 10 mod 3 –> either would have worked better to figure out the Triple Check logistics than the Q’s fuzzy math. Turns out we had an extra tire. Who knew?

Great job in the tire races, it was just as funny as YHC had dreamed it up to be. The best part had to be Handshake chasing the runaway tire as it threatened to invade the good people of Westham.

    Great Tires of Fire!

    -Loose Goose

  • Ode to Q’s Past

10 studs posted for a) the Return of UpChuck Q, yet unexpectedly found b) Fireman Ed’s Best Pick-Up Lines of the 80’s, 90’s and Today. Temps were (actually), clear and 70, thanks for asking.

Mosey to the Third Church parking lot for the COP, consisting of:

    SSHs x25
Burpees (for the Redskins victory total) x0 (Yeah, pretty sure that’ll stand today)
    IW’s x15
    DQ’s x10
    HRM’s x10
    LBC’s x20
Scorpion Kicks x15 (apparently Loose Goose calls these “Nipple Lickers”)

Mosey to the TES Sign Board for Crawl-a-Dora

50/50-200-300…each partner does 50 merkins, then partners continue the traditional Dora for 200 4-count flutter kicks and 300 monkey jumpers. “Runner” bear crawls from Lindsey (the street, not the exercise) to the TES sign. Run back.

“Let’s go over here” to the Teacher’s Parking Lot for Parking Space Torture:

Starting in the first space, perform a stack of exercises in each space on the row. First row, the PAX did 5 merkins followed by 5 HRMs per space. Roughly 10 spaces.

Audible for second row…5 Hello Dollys, 5 Rosalitas, and 5 reverse crunches per space. 10 spaces.

Add 3 burpees at the end for the space that’s not a parking space on the end.

    Mosey BTTF.

Finish with Ring of Fire. 10 merkins while PAX holds plank.

Announcements: YHC completely spaced on the announcements and, like his friend LabRat, apologizes.

    NMS:

On Saturday morning at roughly 6:45, YHC was mulling over the following: 1) since F3 RVA turned 5, what would be a good tribute for YHC to offer? and 2) should YHC vomit on Rosie during Swirly’s Burpee Beast, or just pass out?

YHC decided on an Ode to some of YHC’s earliest Q’ing influences…Bleeder (Day 1), Honey Do (YHC’s recruiter), and Chum Bucket, the eponymous Q from so many Punishers (currently and many during YHC’s first year). The result was something including a bunch of bear crawls (Bleeder), Scorpion Kicks and that devious little hill on Lindsey (Honey Do), and a ton of parking space work (Chum), which should never be as challenging as it is. Thanks, fellas, for 3.5 years of Qing.

  • Testing the limits of the 2nd core principle of F3

Fourteen strong came out to play under the full moon and see how the moonlight would fare against F3RVA’s darkest AO:

COP: SSH, Imperial Walkers, 6 Don Qs, 7 Merkins, 13 Flutterkicks, 3 Helicopters. Mosey to the field. Partner up: 5 Rounds of: Run field, 5 Pullups while other man does Donkey Kicks.

Stay on field for schoolyard curb crawl sans the curbs: Bear Crawl between soccer goal, 1 Burpee, Lunge back, 2 Burpees. Alternate up to 6. Partner up again for 3 rounds of: 30 Boxing Roaches.

Down to Triple check corner for namesake exercise: B2W, Reverse Crunches, & run loop. Head to parking lot. Around the parking arrows of the lot: 5 HRMs each arrow, crab walk between arrows. Back to Flag, YHC took us out.

NMS: YHC loves the openness of this group and F3’s principle of “Workouts are open to all men” but the PAX were wary when a fully loaded clown car Mazda Miata gunned it into the parking lot at 5:25. Ronnie emerged behind the wheel and Lockjaw appeared from the passenger seat. Ronnie is quite proud of his 03 Miata with 20k miles. However Lockjaw did not leave with Ronnie at the end. Many a good laugh was had before we got going.

The PAX spent most of the time on the field as the moonlight on the usual pitch black area was too good to pass up. Loose Goose had to bail soon in as he was not feeling well, he’s taking the 0-2 Steelers loss yesterday really hard. YHC wanted to cut down on the bear crawl at the end so switched to Crab Walk but the combo of that & HRMs burned out the shoulders.

Strong PAX and numbers this morning, back to normal at Hoedown.

Announcements: 5 Yr Anniversary led TYA beatdown at Dogpile this Saturday, retreat after.

  • Starting the Week of Right

10 of Richmond’s finest fought away the comfort of the fart sack to check out what Coach Wojo brought bright and early this Monday. YHC’s Carolina Panthers left 10 points on the board yesterday with a fumble in the red zone and a Joey Slye missed field goal: 10 burpees OYO before COP.

  • The ball and chain visits Hoedown

13 battle warn warriors showed up a midst a dark but pleasant 70 degree parking lot at Hoedown.

Numbers and names YHC took us out

    NMS:

Mumble chatter was at a high as it usually is for a (Boot Camp) Doozy Q. YHC was at Wilton House for an outdoor concert on Saturday with the M and stopped by the AO to verify the run portion was not toooooo long. The original plan was for the run to go around the school but alas YHC decided to shorten the run at the blacktop only. We finished the Ball and Chain with time for another exercise so maybe there needed to be one or two more parking spaces used (YHC knew not to extend the run). Note to self!!!

Thank you Handshake or Handclap ? for keeping the time machine going this morning.

Thank you Loose Goose for going after the 6 when YHC missed the opportunity

Thanks to all my F3 brothers for your encouragement, kind words and just for being good human beings in a world of so many inhumane beings. you bring out the best in me and those around you, keep the light shining.
