Midlothian Middle

  • Figure 8 – Hills version

5 rabbits, some that checked the pre-blast of the route and still showed up, bounded a few of the hills of Midlothian. In figure 8 shape, head down Midlo to Charter Colony – left on Woolridge and up Honeymoon Hill. Down into the Grove for the final climb up Grove Hill Road, back around Coalfield and Woolridge to Mt. Midlo.

Enjoyed the run and chasing Doozy up the hills, if anyone wants a rabbit to chase – Doozy is your man. Unless of course Annie gets tired of him leading the way and cuts him off with her leash. Good company for the run this morning, thanks for showing up and following along men.

  • Running with squishy shoes sucks

YHC and Greenbow left the safe space of SOT to get out and take on the wind and the rain of MOT. Greenbow predetermined that he would not be running 10 -12 miles today so together we ran to the bridge on Charter Colony which is the 2 mile mark where Greenbow turned and headed back to the flag. YHC bound and determined to get in 10 miles due to the fact that a Monday and Tuesday runs where missed kept pressing on towards Tomahawk Middle, Brandermill PKWY to Genito back up and over to St Francis, up to Manders Dr, to Coafield to Queensgate back to the flag

10.58 Miles total, didn’t feel good in the rain and had to walk more than one uphill battle. In all it took about an hour and a half +

NMS: Its always good to get out and after it with someone, while Greenbow didn’t go the whole route with YHC it was good company for the time that YHC did have with him. YHC will do this route again but hopefully in dryer weather, it has lots of short hills that add a fair amount of challenge to the already challenging distance. Starting off the day, basically (not quite) running a half marathon is not for everyone but I enjoyed it.

  • Run Day

Strong 10 for the morning run as we toured the Midlothian mines. Little less than 5 miles, keep up the good work and nice seeing numbers continuing to grow!

  • My nipples are raw!!!

7 Runners were to scared to stick around and see what Marmaduke might try to make them do so at 5:30 we separated from the Bootcampers and according to local officials this is what happened.

The route is AO to AO and back (SOT to Timberwolf) or at least to the round about on Brandermill Parkway which is approximately 3.5 miles one way. PAX runs as far as they are comfortable and then heads BTTF, most made it somewhere between 5 – 5.5 miles and made it back in time for COT. YHC took a little more time and did the full route and ended up missing the COT but catching a few of the guys before they left.

YHC wears a vest with water bottles and pockets for longer runs but in a hurry this morning to get out the door forgot to put the anti chaff cream on, hence the title of this BB. oooouch!! $%&#

  • round the track

    warm up jog, active stretching.

the thang: 3x 1 mile at 90% effort or uncomfortable. Recovery jog between efforts to let HR return to normal.

    Solid effort by all.

  • Goggins On The Track

4 track stars met at Midlo Middle knowing something different was in store for the day. According to the teachers snagging their parking spots, this is more or less how it went down.

Warmup with a mosey lap around the school doing some Carioca, high knees, and butt kickers.

Mosey down to the track to get the run down on the days plan: as many miles as we can get on the track in the time remaining. With two small caveats…. 1. Each mile is ran faster than the one before it. 2. Complete 25 Merkins every half mile. Tunes were set on some old school Metallica (Ride The Lightening era) for while the merkins are done, and we were off!

got in about 4.5 miles, 200ish merkins, and pretty close to all negative splits. Awesome work by all PAX today.

    NMM

Been wanting to break out this workout for a while now. The Wednesday MOT training day was finally the perfect opportunity. Enjoyed the challenge today. Good to catch up with everyone. Reach out to someone. You never know the difference you can make!

  • Wait A Minute, Doc. Are You Telling Me You Built A Time Machine…

According to the startled joggers on the track, here’s how it went down…

2.2 mile loop doubled. After the second loop we went down for a hotlap on the track which Doozy led us on a blazing sub 6min pace. We jogged back to the flag just as we hit 5 miles. Lots of great chatter today. At some point YHC found out that Boberry had switched jobs 2/3 months ago. While most would assume the only possible explanation for YHC not knowing this information is if I have really been in the fart sack for that long. However, the much more plausible explanation is that YHC has time travelled and somehow missed the last few months..

At any rate, most of the run was 6 wanna be runners chasing Doozy for 45min.

Well done all and its great to be back in the gloom.

  • Leave no man behind, leave no man where you found him

6 dudes knew more or less the route and that they were in for some intervals from MOT. 530 struck and we hit the mean streets of Midlo. According to the few cars that passed, this is how it went down.

Route was 4.5 miles, including the Manders climb and finishing with Mt Midlo. Once we got going we did a little warm up with some carioke , high knees, and butt kickers. After we were warmed up it was time for the main event. 1 min of pushing the pace faster than your normal pace, 2 min of slower than your normal pace, while going back for the 6. Repeato until we made it back right on time. Did names and numbers with them SOT boys. Duke took us out.

    NMM

great work today fellas, way to push! Nice job by Greenbow finding the PAX and finishing strong! YHC really enjoys the running workouts that change it up a bit.

  • Nothing Flat

YHC was joined by 5 fleet of foot gentlemen for a simple taper run for those setting up for the Petersburg Half this weekend. An out and back was on the agenda – Down Mt. Midlo, right on Woolridge, left on Charter Colony – turn around and come back. Negative splits were an option, Doozy tried to run to Chester, and there were more hills than expected on that route. I don’t know that we hit much of a flat spot or easy grade on that one. Well done gentlemen.

Good luck to Don Draper and Tobit at the Petersburg half this weekend. Lockjaw would be proud of your tapering efforts last week.

Happy Hour at Diamond Billiards this Friday, 4/14.

Prayers for Oyster and his family with the sudden loss of his father-in-law.

  • How to kill a robin

SOT or MOT? Of all the PAX hanging out at Midlo Middle at 530am, three decided to hit the streets for a run. Down Mt. Midlo, up the Grove hill, down Manders, back up Woolridge to Charter Colony, and finally back to MMS. Mileage was just under 5 this morning and with a few minutes to spare, we joined up with the SOT PAX for some alphabet tracers.

Numbers, names with the SOT PAX. Honeymoon took us out.

    Announcements:

-SOJ happy hour, 5:30/6ish, 4/14 at Diamond Billiards

-CSAUP coming in early May….details to come from Gomer

NMS: Rosetta has recently been dealing with a robin at his house that crashes into a window multiple times a day and craps all over the place. His simple question for YHC and Honeymoon was “how do I deal with that?”. Honeymoon didn’t hesitate to respond that the best thing to do is “kill the mother f____er”.

Safe travels for Rosetta and his M as they head to Mexico next week. First time they’ve been on a 7-day vacation together (without the 2.0s) in 10 years. Let’s see if they both make it back.
