30 minute trail run prior to Rock N Roll

YHC arrived at 6 am – Big Rig had already completed 3 plus miles of running. Draper and I rucked the paved trail and added a heavily spider webbed unpaved route. Finished back at the flag with a couple minutes to spare. Big Rig ran to parts unknown, but popped up a few times along the route. Overall conditions were hot and muggy – the sweat was pouring before Heist’s epic beatdown kicked off. SYITG

Seven gloom warriors shattered any remnant of lazy Saturday vibes by packing out heavy steel weights and speed rucking a few miles around Rockwoods Park in preparation for Big Rig’s birthday Q. Great to meet Cavity Search and share some missionary adventure stories. Gos is good all the time! Yours AYE, DTH

Big Rig and Boberry were out earlier, I came about 630 decided let’s get a little maintenance run in before I start the main event. The morning felt good, as usual the heat on my body gets turned up and we’re in the groove. 2.2 miles in 20 minutes felt good but I needed to get ready before everyone else showed up. Another post shortly

YHC arrived early for a pre-Rock N Roll run through the park. Boberry and Big Rig were off to parts unknown – I believe they completed 7-8 miles. I did manage to high five Boberry on his way out, and chat with Big Rig for a couple minutes. YHC completed the paved nature trail plus the loop around the park. It was just enough time to plan the main workout in great detail. Check slack for details on a pre-convergence run from Tredegar.

When I arrived this morning, there was a guy who I have seen running here trying to join us for a workout. The hard part sometimes is taking that first step to join us. We chatted about his marathon run in Los Angeles, how hills plus other areas are more accessible to train than here, plus future run plans probably later in the year for Richmond. I no doubt run better with someone(cranking out a little over 2 miles in 18:29. I felt good, ready for the main workout with Broadway.

It was one fine morning in the gloom at Rockwood Park, and YHC wasn’t the only one out enjoying it. Just as I was getting back, from some pull ups, Chaplain and Touchdown were pulling in. Touchdown headed for the basketball court, and Chaplain and I hit the trails. Conversation was plentiful. It’s always good to catch up with Chaplain. Mudslide was getting some laps in as well. Morning Wood once again is full of options.

With many of the Morning Wood regulars at Monument or other races – YHC had to hold down the fort. Ran primarily around the perimeter of the park while enjoying the bustling activity at the Latino Market setup. It was peaceful run – but who could have foreseen Purple Rain’s savage beatdown? SYITG

This morning, you had Rodeo Clown on his ruck getting ready for the big one next week, a little later. I came up starting my run getting ready for next week. Posh came up later to join me for a lap. Rodeo Clown was finished, I looked at the time and saw that I only had a few minutes left. The last lap I cut the distance a little short still 4.1 miles, ready for next week. After about 2 minutes, it was time for….

This morning, Big Rig was out training for his upcoming marathon. We met over at Rockwood, ventured out along the outside of the park for a 5 lap run. After the first lap, Chaplain joined us as we put in the final 4 laps. Total for the run was 3.7 miles averaging a little over 9 minutes a mile. 2 weeks….Big Rig will be in Roanoke for the marathon, I will be amongst the insanity at Monument Ave. All 3 of us finished, rest a little to get ready for a Chaplain Dark Lord workout
