30 minute trail run prior to Rock N Roll

A handsome six pack of ruck brothers assembled in the frigid gloom to tackle at least a few miles under extra weight. YHC had challenged the PAX to pack an extra 10 pounds today, which brought YHC up to 50 pounds – feelin’ like Growruck all over again! Then we also shared Sandy (60# sandbag) for the duration of the ruck. The GTE vets all agreed anything is possible (and better) than when we bear crawled downhill with 50+ pound packs on board. Appreciated the warm conversation on a cold morning – and TSG learned something new! (See picture) Yours…

Having wrapped up 6ish miles, YHC and Big Rig ventured out to tour the trails of Rockwood Park. Route was to stay to the right and run along the water, following the trail. Unfortunately this proved to be difficult while it was still pitch black outside. We did well, making good time until YHC ran out of gas. YHC needs to a better job listening to the body, pushed a little too hard, getting after it three days in a row.

Nine holiday-spirited ruck lovers followed a new route out of Rockwood, across Hull St, and around the quiet neighborhood streets of Mayfair Estates, covering a total of 3.08 miles. Weather reported 30 degrees, but it was 70 and sunny in these gloom lovers hearts. The Mumble Chatter was rich (ask Hardywood to share about his gorilla escapades), nearly everyone had a turn shouldering Sandy (the 60 pound sandbag), and no man was left behind. Oh, and Mudslide and Big Rig did some brotastic laps around the area. Prayers for Doublemint’s mom facing terminal cancer, and peace and wisdom for Dmint…

4 Morning Wood Regulars made it out to Rockwood Park for the traditional 2 mile or so paved trail loop.  Boberry went on to get 4 more more miles or so, which put him at close 20k for the morning. All the problems of the world were either solved or forgotten. Well, probably just forgotten. Good times.

Pretty sure this title has been used before, but it’s pretty much what happened. Doozy, Chaplain, and myself took the traditional Morning Wood trail loop for a couple miles before Doozy’s Pearl Harbor history lesson and beatdown.

After 42 trips around the sun, YHC still has it (IYKYK), but the outstanding morning wood wasn’t solo after all. Having planted the flag and hung the truck banner, House Party arrived as YHC’s first Birthday present, a welcome sight indeed! At 25 degrees, YHC was thinking he could do with another layer as we rucked to the pit, but then within just a few minutes of carrying one of the 8-foot logs, we were well warmed up. We made it most of the way around the loop before taking a break for x42 ruck squats, then re-shouldered the log…

There was a lot on the menu to choose from at Rockwood Park this morning. It was a chilly 70 and sunny, but that didn’t stop 9 of SOJ’s overachievers from getting in some extra credit. There were 2 Ruckers (Melville, and 6 Shooter), 4 Runners (Don Draper, Boberry, House Party, and Chaplain) and 3 Pull Up Enthusiasts (Mudslide, Florence, and YHC) Pull up session included some coupons with 2 COPsYHC’s new favorite workout format. 3-4 sets6 Pull Ups 12 Toes to Bar 25 Coupon Curls And 1 set of25 second Hang or Negative Pull Up 12 Lawnmower pulls w/each…

Four ruckers and three runners secured the AO early with discussion revolving around the return to meeting up at the front parking lot now that the latina market has closed up – maybe next week! Really enjoyed getting to know Broadway’s relative Dangerous Minds (DM) as we speed rucked the outside loop of Rockwoods trails. Sunrise at the lake was gorgeous, and the PAX stopped at five different intervals to complete x20 Copperhead Squats IC, adding up to the celebratory number of the day, YHC’s 100th Q for the year. Needless to say, all were feeling perfectly warmed up to…

Recently….Lurch reached out for help with running. Big Rig invited him to Rockwood for a morning run. I was there also to see how I am doing plus a little training for upcoming Richmond race. We kept a nice, even pace even with the winds blowing(plus you would be surprised how many people come out that early for their walks). 4.25(I logged in at 4.57 miles) the pace was perfect for Lurch as he broke thru that wall of hitting 2 miles then done. The circle around the park is perfect I will be there this Saturday one more run…

2 early birds rose before dawn to get some extra credit miles. After 6-8 miles in it was time to change it up a bit. … We got 3ish more miles on the paved trails at Rockwood park, followed by some cooldown broga before the main event: the Big Rig beat down. good to change it up and get some hill work on the trails. Broga was appreciated after the many miles and to recover somewhat before that hellish 7 of diamonds. Big Rig led the run and YHC led the broga. Always good to run with Big Rig, catch…
