Huguenot Park

  • Can You Feel It? Yup I can

Four stiff men came in this morning looking to become loose as a goose before TryHard’s beatdown at NoToll. At this point, we are all broga experts, so a hot potato was called…

Oyster led us off with some upper body stretches then passed it on to YHC for some lower back and hips. Last Call took it and continued with the lower body and ended with Chaplain bringing it home with some good ole pigeons.

In the end we were all made whole.

  • The stars are always brighter after a good rain

9 Star gazers made their way out of the rain soaked gloom to find what they thought would be wet soccer fields.

Mosey to the tennis courts: COP (pay toll along the way 20 Dips, 20 Derkins)

DQ’s run a lap, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers

Mosey out to the main parking lot to find 12 frisbees with lights on them set up in a big circle and a bucket in the middle. Start in the middle at the bucket and run to one of the stars and do 25 of the exercise on the frisbee, run back to the bucket do 5 burpees and move on to the next star until you’ve done all the stars.

Mosey to the first corner, hit all four corners with 10 of those exercises, chris cross do those exercises with burpees at the bucket. We missed 2 exercises, Ball Dippers and Hand Release Merkins and Last Call wanted to do Arm circles so as the PAX went back and forth for the last 2 stars we did Arm circles forward and backwards and last but not least 5 more burpees

Mosey BTTF pay more tolls (Taxation without representation) this is a Dictatorship and YHC got to be the Dic today.

At the flag get in your best Lazy Boy position and recline

Numbers / Names Chaplain took us out

    NMS:

Stars was really supposed to be Clocks and the 12 frisbees where supposed to be the numbers but the fields at No Toll really retain water and it was only 36 degrees this morning (or as we like to call it 70 and sunny) so clocks was moved to the parking lot and renamed stars. Snuff and Last Call where thinking about all the burpees we did and tried to add them all up afterwards, if my math is correct we should have done right around 75 burpees this morning.

  • Bringing back the Regular NoToll OG!

17 studs answered the call to test themselves and showed up to NoToll knowing (or they should have known) what was coming. OG is back, and it will be a regular (quarterly) thing at NoToll.

YHC was feeling generous so we started with a little COT stretching by the cars and then I grabbed Old Glory and off we went – back to the back lot and fields and twice around. Thanks to Rosie for taking OG for a lap. Old Glory was planted in the front field, the timer was set for 20 minutes and AMRAP 4 corners around the entire facility was the order. Corner 1 – 20 merkins. Corner 2 – 20 jump squats. Corner 3 – 10 burpees. Corner 4 – 20 WWIIs. Go until time is called. Then, meet back at the flag and 2 more laps – native American style and back to the cars.

Here is the link to add your laps for today: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-L8e9W24ygnU0suaGyKxzi1PgPqY1CBd57hLrKTZI-g/edit#gid=1717732871

    Great work men!

    COT, Numbers, Names and prayers.

Prayer requests for DTH’s sister (starting chemo), Juanita’s nephew, and the daughter of Radar’s friend. Add these folks to your prayers tonight and going forward. We all know there are more prayers needed then those that were spoken, so add a few extra too for the good of the cause. Lots of stress and anxiety going around and a lot of folks just feeling heavy with life right now. Keep an eye (and 2 ears) out, increase the patience and lend a helping hand or caring ear and shoulder when you can. Take care of each other.

    No More Gumbo For You!

  • Caligula Training

A dozen hormonal post teens converged on the lush fields of Huguenot Park to prepare their abs for the upcoming pool season. According to the dog walker patrolling the perimeter, this is what occured.

Mosey to Field 1 for the F3 disclaimer and an upright Warmarama that included SSH’s, DQ’s, Helis, Imperial Walkers, Copperhead Squats, Jazzercise and Dead Man Hang. Everyone warm, lets begin:

COP #1: Super Dora – Mosey to the side of the field for the following 50 Big Boy Sit ups. 100 Hand Release Merkins, 150 WWII’s, 200 Pickle Pounders. Timer runs across the newly painted field and back. Al Gore for the 6.

    Numbers/Names/Prayers/Announcements. YHC took us out

Prayers to DTH and his family as his sister is battling some health issues.

3 Year Anniversary at the Forge this Thursday (4/7). New shirt design and hats available for order shortly.

NMS: Great turnout this morning with New Market and Amelia making the trip and contributing great mumble chatter. Garbage Plate provided the Super Dora idea to work the abs for bikini season. Big boy situps were well received but it was the 200 pickle pounders that got the blood flowing. Great work today gents. It is great to start the day with humor and energy.

  • Nay dear brother, the warmth you seek is not in my shorts

A dozen SOJ HIM’s escaped the fartsack’s warm embrace to laugh it up with Hardywood in the chilly gloom of NoToll. With visions of Tryhard’s warm sugarplums dancing in their heads, the PAX heroically stomped the following beatdown:

    The THANG:

    • HARDYWOOD took the PAX out in Prayer

NMS:  Solid numbers for a cold Spring morning, and YHC had just the routine to keep the blood warm. Always amazing how long it takes to rock a Seven of Diamonds, but there was also a definitive slowing with the midway 112 merkins. The PAX crushed it all the same, and still had time for showing Mary a good time at the end. Wonderful as always to have Hardywood back out in the gloom. In his prayer, he reminded the PAX to be EXCEPTIONAL instead of settling to be the exception. We all have the risk of taking short cuts, which only limit our own potential. Let’s lead by example to not only adhere to the rules but also serve others along the way. An honor to lead as always, YHC, DTH

  • OG Walk-through

18 hungry men craving some Gumbo showed up for a 70 and sunny feast at the Fields of NoToll. Rumor had it Old Glory would be making an appearance, and it did…sort of. The flag was planted and this is what transpired…

Mosey to back lot and circle up for COT, including

SSHs, DQs, Helicopters, Copperhead Squats, Imperial Walkers, Tempo Merkins, Flutter Kicks and LBCs

    THE THANG:

OG Walk-through – Gumbo wants everyone to be prepared, so we walked through the OG corners

    • Starting in corner 1 – 20 merkins OYO and plank for SIX; mosey to next corner
    • Corner 2 – 20 good form jump squats, Al Gore for the SIX, when SIX arrived, 20 more jump squats together (No Man Left Behind); Mosey to brown-water Corner 3
    • Corner 3 – 10 Burpees and Al Gore – 3 more burpees with the SIX; mosey to Corner 4
    • Corner 4 – 20 WWII sit-ups, then go pick up SIX and lunge in; 10 WWIIs in cadence

    Mosey to the Pavilion

    • Bench work – 10 steps ups, 10 Derkins, 10 Dips. As many sets as you can until SIX arrives
    • Plank-o-rama
    • Triple Check – Run across the field, HRMs, Slow Deep Squats

There has been a call to bring back Old Glory, and Gumbo will answer the call on April 12 (delayed just for you Bullseye!), and YHC will commit to making it a quarterly thing at NoToll. So get ready to test yourselves and see results. For today, it was a dry-run, walk-through of sorts and bro-code style. Props to Florence and Rosie and others who left no man behind today and Tclaps to Soultrain for pushing through and even starting off with some Broga today. Well done. Keep posting brother, you will see the results and the strength (physically and mentally).

Strong numbers today, gents. Keep it up. You’re on notice. Be ready 4/12.

    No More Gumbo For You!

  • THIS…IS…NO TOLLLLLLLL!!!!

300 Spartans…I mean 12 Spartans…battled the oncoming onslaught of Persians at Huguenot Park. Here’s what the history books recorded :

Mosey to parking lot next to soccer fields

Warmarama : 20 SSH IC, 10 Don Q’s IC, 10 Cherry Pickers IC, 10 Ukrainian Soldiers IC, 10 Imperial Walkers IC, 10 Merkins IC

    Mosey to Soccer Field

Spartan : PAX line up and sprint 100 yrds, do 10 merkins at the finish and walk back to the start all together. Continue until you have done 30 x100 yrd sprints and 30×10 = 300 Merkins. (We completed 20 sprints and 200 Merkins)

Mosey back to basketball court next to Ole Glory for some Mary : Not So Lazy Boys (hold 20 seconds in the middle, to the right, in the middle, to the left, and in the middle one last time), 1 minute of WWII’s

    DONE

    Numberama

    Namerama

COT : HDHH tomorrow 3/16 at O’Tooles Midlothian at 5:30 pm

Another Happy Hour this Thursday 3/17 from 6 pm – 8 pm at Capital Ale House Innsbrook. Gomer will buy a beer for any FNG.

Saturday June 4 Vinny is Q’ing the Bridge. Coordinate your clown cars. I am negotiating with the M as we speak to rearrange family plans so I can make it.

NMMS : No shame in only completing 20 sets of the Spartan today. Even the Spartans lost some battles to the Persians. We live to fight another day! *Did I have my PAX count right in this BB? Any PAX names I’m missing?*

  • BrickSLayer

The NoToll PAX cheered with excitement (or maybe it was nervous laughter) to each collect two bricks from YHC’s truck. With the consensus of watches suggesting 0530, the newest members of the Olympic SOJ bricklaying team moseyed to the basketball court for a hot date with Sally…

    The THANG:

    WARMERAMA:

    • Welcome & F3 Disclaimer
    • Music: SALLY UP, SALLY DOWN – the PAX holds bricks overhead beginning in a squat position (that’s the default), then stands UP and squats DOWN in accordance to the lyrics (Ouch!!!)
    • A few other IC sets to stretch things out

    COP #1:

    • Mosey to the Tennis Court
    • EMOM TIMER: with rockin’ beats playing in the background, PAX followed the EMOM timer to perform x3 exercises, switching every 20 seconds, for a total of 10 minutes
    • With bricks in each hand, PAX rotates between Plank Punches, American Hammers, & Sweat Angels ?

Brief intermission sans-bricks to mosey back and close the back of YHC’s truck

    COP #2:

    • Mosey to Field #1
    • Triple Check: with music blasting & bricks in hand, PAX rotate between Bleacher Step-ups, Burpees, and Running across field & back

    Mosey BTTF:

    • EMOM TIMER, Round 2:
    • Lunges, Dancing Bears, Hallelujah Flutters
    • Got about 7min done before time ran out

    COT:

    • Counterama # 10
    • Namerama
    • Announcerama (see Comments)
    • CHAPLAIN took the PAX out in Prayer

NMS:  In reviewing the madness we had endured, the consensus is thus: PAX will always modify, but they are more likely to modify a really hard workout to be more manageable, than they would ever modify a easy workout to be harder. For YHC, digging deep to lead by example without modification and in best possible form, this was a REALLY challenging workout. But MAN it felt good! YHC’s bricks ended up in an old laundry basket for transport today, but still not optimal – gonna have track down some sturdy milk crates and make the Bricks&Beats routine a regular showcase. SYITG! ~DTH

  • No Last Call……….No Problem

With our stretching guru on vacation, two PAX members had to grab the reins at Broga. We completed an 18 minute full body routine that YHC found on YouTube. Had some nice mumble rap in the background, courtesy of our fellow early morning park enthusiasts. It was a great warmup for DTH’s savage brick beatdown.

  • Crazy Cat Lady

It has been awhile since YHC has posted and Q’d No Toll…Being from north of the wall, tolls were paid and rolled into a gang of 14 F3 brothers ready for a Tuesday bootcamp and here is what went down:

    COP

We mosey from the flag to the Tower Paved lot and circle up for 20 SSH, 10 DQ’s 20 Helicopters, 15 armcircles, 10 small and 5 big, Reverso, 15 Ukrainian* Soldiers, 15 Imperial Walkers, 20 – 4ct American Hammers, 20 LBCs, 20 Flutter kicks, 10 Reverse scorpions, 10 scorpions and 20 merkins. We mosey to the soccer fields and YHC sets up glow sticks for the first event.

    THANG

YHC drops the glow sticks at the 25, 50, 75 and 100 yard mark for a Red Barchetta. So as a group we run to the 100 yard glow stick, 100 SSH, back to start and plank for 6. Run to 75 Yard mark for 75 LBC’s and back to start and plank for 6, Run to 50 yard mark for 50 squats and back to start and plank for 6, run to 25 yard mark for 25 merkins and back to start and plank for 6, then run 10 yards for 10 burpees and back to start and plank for 6.

Next we divide into groups of 3 for a triple check as 15 total was perfect. Partner 1 is the timer running to the other side of the field and back, P2 – performed alternating lunges and P3 – performed dips on the bleachers. We did this 3 times.

Next we had the Bearmuda Triangle as YHC re-arranged the glow sticks into a triangle with the corners about 20 yards apart. First rotation, bearcawl to next corner, 1 merkin, 2nd corner 2 merkins and 3rd corner 3merkins. Next we lunge to first corner 1 squat, lunge to second corner 2 squats, lunge to 3rd corner 3 squats.(This rotation was a breather set for recovery…to really push this the triangle should be 3 sets of bear crawls) And the last rotation, bear crawl to first corner, 1 merkin, bear crawl to 2nd corner 2 merkins and bear crawl to 3rd corner for 3 merkins.

We divide into different groups of 3 and perform another triple check, partner 1 ran from starting point to the soccer goal on the south, then to the soccer goal to the north and return to start as the timer. Each group had dealer’s choice for the 2nd and 3rd exercises to work on an exercise of their choice. We wrapped this up and moseyed to the flag.

Numberama, Namerama we discussed announcements, prayer requests and determined an FNG’s Chad (Doozy’s recruit) name and with this bunch it was all over the board! Chad wore a UK shirt so started with Louisville, Rick Patinio…tounges came out with multiple languages(Portuguese and Spanish)…crazy cat lady…guys we want Chad to come back…so we settled on Juanita! So welcome Chad you are now Juanita in F3. Mumblechatter was fierce this morning!

We close up into a manball and Tryhard took us out in prayer!

    Moleskin

We have some announcements – Tomorrow is a Hump Day Happy Hour at PBR on 301 in Mechanicsville. Easy directions as it is the 4th stop light north past 295 take a left and PBR is on your right in a strip mall. Great beer and food here and we hope to see you there.

There is a convergence in Dogpile this weekend as we ask for the groups in DaPile and Rock and Roll to meet at DogPile for the 1st weekend of each month.

Finally, I Q’d No Toll when Neil Peart (drummer from Rush) passed away in January 2020, I would argue that he was the best drummer ever and quite the writer of most of their lyrics.

Keep crushing it gents as it is always an honor to lead! Cheers…CB!
