Huguenot Park

  • Patrolling the Block

18 fine looking gentlemen and 1 not so good looking lad descended on the hard courts of No Toll to see what YHC had in store for a beatdown to break out from last weeks’ holiday fog. This is what was told back at the precinct by Chesterfields finest ensuring no suspect activity was occurring.

Mosey to the parking lot for warmups that included all the classics. SSH’s, DQ’s, Helis, Dead Man Hang, Jazzercise, LBC’s, Suzanne Summers. All good… lets get moseying.

    THE THANG…

Mosey to the Tennis Courts for 11’s. Donkey Kicks on 1 side, Chainsmokers on the other. Plank for the 6.

Short mosey to the Basketball Court to find the coupon pile.

DORA… Partner up – 50 Block Thrusters, 100 Curls for the Gurls, 150 Chest Press. Timer runs suicides on the court.

Triple Check… Find your 2 best friends. Elevated Merkins on the block, Block Squats, Timer runs the loop through the woods and around. No block… improvise.

Deposit coupons in the woods for future use

Back to the Courts for quick closing stretch. Numbers, Names Announcements. Doozy took us out

    Announcements.

    No Toll Ultimate Frisbee 7/19

HDHH – Triple Crossing Midlo 7/19

Gumbo’s Home Run Derby/Rosie B-day 7/26 Huguenot Little League (behind Robious Elementary ) – No workout at No Toll that day

Dealer VQ at Forge 7/28 –

NMS: YHC had some extra cinderblocks of varying size lying around the jobsite. Hopefully they last longer in No Toll than they did at the Forge. Too bad YHC quick math was off for a triple check but improvisation prevailed. More running than YHC expected as that loop was brutal. Good work by Florence, Dealer and Posey. Great mumble chatter and turn out this morning. Enjoyed the company and the day fellas.

  • Broga or Stretching

Six Borgii veterans arrived early and dressed in their flexible finest. Emphasis today was on the back, hips and shoulders. Good times had by all. Oyster showed his creativity by utilizing seat covers for his broga mat.

  • All Together Now

On a fine morning, south of the james, 8 High Impact Men got together in an effort to get better, the be more Prepared. According to the gentleman coming out of the woods that may or may not have been Bullseye….. this is alleged to have transpired.

Start out of the gate with an Indigenous People Run AKA Shake N Bake with one burpee and run to the front all the way to the pavilion, each PAX going twice. Circle up for disclaimer, and F3 Mission: “to plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership“

Talk of a southside HDHH, details will be forthcoming.

Yesterday YHC was asked, “why are we doing this?” The answer given was ”to prepare for life” YHC still feels this is appropriate for F3. We are preparing ourselves to be better fathers, brothers, friends, bosses etc.

  • Don Quixo-toll

10 Men of La Mancha gathered in the gloom to tilt at windmills and attempt a new record for Don Quixotes. They thought YHC was joking.

Mosey to the back lot making sure to NOT pay the toll. Warmups: arm circles and dead man’s hang. Line up on the curb and proceed to Don Quixote broad jump across the entire lot. At the other side, 25 more Don Quixotes.

Mosey to the field where 2 lines of 5 men each, in tight formation, bear crawl to the opposite end. From there, a walking lunging arc ending up right back at the beginning. A giant D in the dew. What could it possible stand for?

Mosey further down the field and proceed to walk again in tight formation in a giant circle, arm raises the entire time. Then from the corner of the circle, some other exercise. An enormous D.Q. in the wet grass – as seen from outer space.

Mosey to the pavilion to find a lone Sancho Panza, sitting on the bench, pondering the fields. What was he thinking, watching the PAX do their Dora, timers running the field and back for 50 Don Quixotes, 100 LBCs and 150 plankjacks?

Mosey back to the lot for some 50%/75%/100% sprints interspersed with slow-toll mirkins, mirkins and more Don Quixotes.

Mosey over for a short Post-toll with 25 flutterkicks, 25 jump squats, 25 heels to heaven and 50 ball dippers.

Heading back to the flag going Low-toll under the bar. At the bridge we do NOT pay the toll. From the bridge, a low-toll duck walk back to the flag where we finished with 5 back-breaking… you guessed it… Don Quixotes.

A chivalrous COT and great mumble chatter to start the day.

Shoutout to the PAX for indulging the insanity of a wandering knight, lost in the wilds of his own head.

    Peace.

  • Awkward Ball Handling

A perfect dozen quadrapods gathered in the NoToll gloom, senses quickened and spirits aroused, already tasting victory over the flesh. Their curiosity was piqued as the Q rolled up with 30 seconds to spare having effectively prepped the AO…

    • HOUSE PARTY took the PAX out in Prayer

NMS:  With the SOJ Takeover in the history books, it was great to be back at NoToll. YHC rewarded the PAX faithful with some soccer ball “fun” today and all agreed Bear soccer is way more fun than Crab Soccer. Crab is slow and awkward, Bear is faster with full body tackles. DOOZY gets the gold star for the only goal scored today, mostly due to excellent (and illegal) goal keeping on the part of NANCY and ROPER. Everyone felt it in the shoulders, especially CHAPLAIN who earned the most burpees for booting it out repeatedly. YHC took out LAST CALL a couple times just for the fun of it! Anyway, nothing like mixing it up for a little summer fun – appreciate ya’ll posting! Best, DTH

  • 4 on 4

8 redwoods gathered for a NoToll beatdown that was as humid as YHC can remember. The workout was rumored to go something like this:

    THANG

Slaughter Start – 10 burpees OYO

Mosey to basketball courts for 2 x merkincides + plank work

Mosey to back parking lot for COP: SSH, DQs, Emperial Walkers, Ukranian Soldiers, Bob & Weave

Q handed over to Nancy Lopez for ab work while YHC & Flatline marked out the field

4 on 4 Ultimate – 2 burpees if your team scores

Halftime – Mary in the middle of the field: LBCs, Box Cutters, X’s & O’s

    Mosey back to flag

    Dips & Derkins @ Bridge

    Quick set of Rosalitas

    NAKED MOLESKIN

Apologies for the delayed back blast. Lots of excuses here, but none that are convincing.

Thanks for entertaining YHC with the ultimate. The field was smaller for 4 vs 4, but the running was just the same. YHC’s watch measured 8000+ steps by the time he got home.

See TYA for Blue Ride Relay info. See Flatline or Vinnie for info on The Bridge.

    Until next time!

  • Last Lap

3 stretching enthusiasts woke up a tad earlier to get some Hot Broga in with the temperature 70 degrees with 100 percent humidity. With our Broga guru, Last Call on vacation, YHC stepped up to lead these men to find their inner self. Back, legs, shoulders, and wrists were the hot areas covered today to make sure our bodies were ready for the Ultimate Frisbee showdown. Good work today Oyster and House Party! Appreciate you guys letting me lead!

  • International Male

YHC was pumped to swing down to the South side and pay some tolls to Q for NoToll as Part of the DaVille Tuesday takeover this month. Planted the shovel flag in brutal gravel by the Tennis courts brought my phone and wireless speaker for some workout tunes to enjoy with this mornings workout and here is what went down for 14 F3RVA gents!

    COP

Mosey to the parking lot by the cell towers and circle up for 20 SSH, 10 DQ’s, 10 4ct American Hammers, 20 4ct LBC’s, 10 reverse scorpions, 10 scorpions, 20 merkins.

    THANG

The tunes are cranking now so we go to 4 corners bro code style as everyone want to hang with the tunes…right?!? So Corner 1 – 10 squats, Corner 2 – 20 Flutter kicks (2 ct), Corner 3 – 30 single count lunges alternating legs and corner 4 -40 LBC’s. We repeat this two more times.

Mosey to the soft grass divide into groups of 3 or 4 and perform a triple check. P1 – runs to opposite side of the field and back (timer) P2 – LBC’s, P3 – Personal choice upper body – plank, merkins, drydocks, etc. We rotate 2 more times so everyone has a turn to complete 1 set. We perform two more sets.

Next we divide into 3 groups and form a personal Bermuda Triangle about 20 yards in between each corner. Corner 1 group(C1G) – bear crawls to corner 2 (C2G) – sprints to C3G – lunges to C1G. We repeat this 3 times.

Mosey to the covered patio divide into different groups of 3. P1 – runs to opposite side of field and back (timer), P2 – Merkins and P3 bench dips (crushing the triceps on this routine). We rotate 2 times for each partner to get the exercise to complete the set and then perform 2 more sets.

These gents are crushing this work out…and we still have time.

Next we do 11’s using the width of the patio, 10 merkins, walk to other side 1 squat, walk back 9 merkins, 2 squats and continue to where we mosey back to flag and perform the 9 merkins and 2 squats(surprise switch), then 10 squats and 1 merkin to finish!

    Moleskin

So you can imagine with CB music playing it will be all over the board from funk, to rock, to new wave…with a common excellent/unique percussion theme behind this music…I am a drummer after all. So a late 80’s tune pop’s up and YHC was thinking back to his college(let’s be real ‘Institute’) days and ordering cool trendy clothes from a catalogue titled International Male…back in the day we had no internet/amazon/google to buy things and the guys crushed YHC! We were laughing hard…check out the Wiki page(link at the bottom of this bb) if you really want to laugh…heck, they even made a movie about this!…What a gang of fun gents to work out with this morning. Humbly honored to lead, work out and have a laugh…great way to start the day!

Glad to see Mr Roper and Fresh prince back to NoToll as I understand it has been awhile and keep coming back…I know I will…soon! Cheers…CB!

  • Circles, squares and triangles – pick a shape

16 Beach Body on Demand models made their way to No Toll for a Doozy Q.

Mosey to the 1st field a circle up in the middle

DQ’s, Helicopters, Merkins, Mountain Climbers, Plank Jacks, Groiners, LBC’s

Mosey to the corner this is where the more educated of the PAX started weighing in on weather the field was a square or a rectangle an what level of Geometry YHC might have made it to. Circle, square or triangle YHC does not care what you want to call it we are using the 90 degree pointy things AKA corners that total 4.

    10 – WWII, 20 – American Hammers, 30 – Scrunchy Frogs, 40 – Knee Slides

    Mosey to far left field

10 – Hand Release Merkins, 20 – Wide Grip Merkins, 30 – Single count Shoulder Taps, 40 – Arm Circles (forward and Backward)

    Mosey to right side field

    10 – Copperhead Squats, 20 – 2 count Ball Dippers, 30 – Jump Squats, 40 – SSH

    Mosey to the parking lot

Your Choice 4 corners but corner number 1 has to start with Burpees, Corner 2 – 20 Arms, Corner 3 – 30 Abs, Corner 4 – 40 Legs

Mosey to the playground, pay toll as you cross the bridge 20 Dips, 20 Derkins

At the playground the plan was to bear crawl around the circle track while last person in line pushes the play car to the front, as last PAX passes the car he pushes it to the front again team 1 seamed to have understood the instructions and where doing well but team 2 which included YHC failed at the first runner and rather than try to explain it again YHC decided to Audible and head towards the basketball courts. Seeing a trail that YHC has never noticed before we decided to see where it went. Sure enough it lead to the Tennis courts. This too makes a nice spot for a 4 corners.

    10 – Scrunchy Frogs, 20 – Merkins, 30 – Jump Squats and 40 – LBC’s

BTTF Numbers / Names DTH took us out

    NMS:

YHC loves seeing the number of PAX at AO’s grow. No Toll has always been a bigger AO but now we are starting to see the numbers get back up in to the Pre Pandemic area. There are still a couple AO’s on the south side that YHC would like to see grow back into their former glory, River Run and Twin Team could use a boost if your looking to add a day to your routine. Satan’s Hill is going strong, Timberwolf and The Forge are fairly consistent with good numbers and SOT is a great Humpday beatdown. Get out and get after it.

  • Separating the HIM’s from the Hams

A steady downpour at NoToll immediately drenched the faithful PAX as they exited their rides in the last minute before 0530. With inspiring rock and roll thumping two rainproof speakers, the hearty PAX beelined it for the pavilion to squash the sad clown.

    The THANG:

    WARMERAMA:

    • Mosey to the pavilion and circle up
    • Welcome & Disclaimer
    • Variable IC Reps to get the muscles warm top to bottom

    COP #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5:

    • With two speakers set up for jammin pavilion surround sound, DTH whipped out the F3 Beatdown Deck, and separated 5 sets of 5 cards. The PAX was directed to complete reps IC or OYO based on the cards, and a movement activity or run around the field happened after each of the 5 sets.

    Mosey BTTF for COT:

    • Counterama # 8
    • Namerama
    • Announcerama (see Comments)
    • YHC took the PAX out in Prayer

NMS:  Nothing like a little precipitation to bestow honor on the faithful HIM’s. After YHC made the spontaneous comment of “rain separating the HIM’s from the Hams”, Doozy was straining his brain to come up with an acronym for the “Hams” …Hardness-avoidant men? …HIM’s absentee mode? …or are we just alluding to fatty porkers? Ok ok, no name-calling, let’s just say kudos to the few who raised their first to the sky and said BRING IT! And big welcome to JUDGE, who used to post in C’ville, and finally popped the F3RVA cherry this morning in true style. Appreciate JUANITA bringing him out. Fun fact that YHC provides Peds care to both of their 2.0’s. Honored to lead and serve with you guys. SYITG, YHC, DTH
