Gents, the retreat is a week and a half away. If you are attending and would like to compete in the cornhole tournament, please sign up immediately. We would like to finalize the teams and bracket asap. The tournament is double elimination, net scoring, and starts at 4:30pm sharp. There is a prize for the winning team and plenty of ridicule for the biggest losers. The Wednesday July 24th Roller Coaster hill run will launch from the parking lot behind Palani Drive (401 Libbie Avenue). We will meet in the parking lot and have a hard start at 6PM. We will then run up and down some nearby hills and then retreat back to Palani Drive for HDHH! If you cannot make the run, please join us at the restaurant. Runners should be back by 6:45PM or so. There is outdoor seating at Palani Drive, which will be key for those that do not smell the best after a run. This will be good training for BRR 2019 (the running part and the beer drinking part afterwards.) • F3 RVA Retreat – Information

    F3 RVA Retreat – Information

Gentlemen, the retreat is set for 9/21-9/22 in Amelia. Gomer Pyle’s extended family is kind enough to allow the use of a beautiful/quiet piece of property. Please RSVP below if you plan to attend. As we draw closer, take note of the following:

    Opening Ceremonies: 9/21 at 2:00 p.m.

    Closing Ceremonies: 9/22 at 10:00 a.m.

Attendees: PAX members 21 years of age and older. No FNGs.

Celebration: September 2019 will F3 RVA’s 5th year anniversary – what a way to celebrate!

Corn Hole tournament: Will be facilitated by EF Hutton and Dr. Try Hard (firm 4:30 p.m. start time). Two-man teams must be comprised of PAX members from different nano-regions. There is a sign-up sheet in google docs. Please register your team no later than 9/1 so that we can set the field. There is a sweet trophy for the winning combo!

There is plenty of cleared land, so bring footballs, frisbees, croquet, whatever. But again, no guns (other than squirt and/or nerf). Other than the corn hole tournament, this is a sit and sip, informal affair. THERE WILL BE NO ORGANIZED FIRST F!!! We do that the other 364 days of the year. Or, leave early and hit Sunday Funday or OTB.

Food / Beverage: BYOB and BYOF. Circle K will bring his enormous charcoal grill. Please use the comment space below to announce what cooking gear you can volunteer to bring. Generally, I’m asking y’all to divide and conquer in smaller groups when it comes to food and beverage. That said, Rosie will be bringing oysters for the PAX. We’ll need to advance him some cash, I’m assuming.

Please also bring one food item to share with the group. Chips, desserts, whatever. Honeymoon has kindly volunteered to supply the PAX with drinking water.

Gear: Bring your own tent, hammock, or ready made yurt, chairs, etc. There will be a port-o-john on site, and running water (garden hose variety). Otherwise, it’ll be a straight up camp out. We need tables and canopies. I believe Flipper has a few canopies, but if you have one, please bring it I’d rather have too many as opposed to not enough.

Fire Wood: We won’t need to bring any, as there is plenty on site, but we will need lighters, matches, etc.

    Details: —–>

    Text me for the address.

For those who would like to caravan in to the site, we’ll launch from the Woodlake Lowe’s at NOON. 7001 Winterpock Road.

Designated Parking Area: There will be a designated parking area. Please use it. It’ll be obvious upon arrival.

Breakfast 9/22: If anyone wants to spearhead a breakfast campaign, please feel free to do so.

3rd F: There are plans for a Sunday morning devotional.

I’m sure I’m forgetting something. But again, the design is a laid back 2nd F. Be creative. If guys want to tee up a chill cook off or some other meal preparation contest, have at it. Hopefully this grows into a tradition that we look forward too on an inaugural/annual basis.

  • Preblast – No Excuses Workout

    Preblast – No Excuses Workout

We are firing up an introductory F3 workout on Saturday, June 22nd at 7:30 am on the day after the longest day of the year.

Some of the most often used excuses for not coming to a F3 workout are the following:

    • “It is too dark…”
    • “It is too cold…”
    • “It is too early…”
    • “I won’t be able to get to work on time if I go…”
    • “I want to get in shape first…”

These excuses are all off the table for this workout!

Why are we hosting this No Excuses Workout?

The goal of this workout is to provide an introductory experience of F3 – the workout, the camaraderie, the memories and the friendships.

Where and when is this No Excuses Workout taking place?

We will gather on Saturday, June 22nd at 7:30 am in the parking lot next to the community clubhouse in the Milestone neighborhood in Mechanicsville (11030 Milestone Dr, Mechanicsville, VA 23116).

    What will we be doing?

We will have brief introduction to the purpose and vision of F3. We will then launch into an entry-level 45 minute workout that will follow the pattern of a normal F3 workout (warm-up in a circle, engage in a series of exercises, finish together). We will be providing explanations of the exercises and encouragement all along the way.

    Call to Action:

    1. If you have been considering F3 but haven’t come to a workout, then SHOW UP.
    2. If you have been to a workout or a few workouts but haven’t come back, then this is the time to SHOW BACK UP.
    3. If you are part of F3 then invite (EH) guys to come to this No Excuses Workout and SHOW UP with them
    4. If you know of any men who would be interested in engaging in something that can help them with their physical fitness while also providing opportunities for new friends, then tell them to SHOW UP.

Here is an article from Men’s Health magazine that describes F3 and the benefits of being part of this movement – https://www.menshealth.com/fitness/a25799601/f3-workouts-for-men/

Here is a link to a description of the “top excuses” for not participating in F3 from one of the guys who helped to start it – https://f3nation.com/top-five-eh-excuses/

    Let’s spread the word.

This may be something that we try out in other locations too but we are going to start this in DaVille (Mechanicsville).

Note: This introductory workout will be for guys only. We may consider other opportunities for our children (2.0s) and wives (M’s) another time.

Let’s see who we can welcome to the team as we seek to share the benefits of F3 with more and more men!

  • 2019 F3 RVA Summer Tour begins Saturday, May 25.

2019 F3 RVA Summer Tour begins Saturday, May 25.

It’s that time of year again. With the onset of summer, we look forward to the beach, the pool, cookouts, theme parks, fishing trips, family vacations, and the RVA Summer Tour. What a better way to spend the summer than challenging yourself to visit all 26 F3 RVA AOs.

The 2018 RVA summer tour was a lot of fun. There were 13 completers which meant there were always tour participants at every workout. The tour also led to the creation of the most fun workout YHC has experienced since being part of F3RVA, the Amateur Bike Ride at RAMM Gears. Even if you are not doing the tour, you need to experience this.

Once you complete the 2019 tour, you will have done the following:

    • 16 bootcamps
    • 7 runs including a trail run and evening run
    • 2 Kettle Bell workouts
    • 1 bike rides

In addition, this year there are opportunities for extra credit including Breaking Bread, Breakfast Club, Q once in every nano-region, Puppy Pile, Early Risers, HDHH, Dirt Church, and Down Range.

Don’t let not having a kettle bell or bike prevent you from participating in this challenge.  Borrow them if necessary.

Although procrastinators can wait as late as August 1 to start, it would be best to spread this challenge out over the entire summer.

The challenge starts starts on Saturday, May 25 and ends on Labor Day.
