Thank you all !
Well guys this has been the scariest week of my life because I felt so helpless – but I am happy to report that my M is now home from the hospital recovering . The good news is that the big life threatening things have all been ruled out after multiple tests and procedures. The plan now is to find a specialist that can pin point the problem and develop a plan to solve/ contain it. I can assure you this – and y’all know me – when I lock in on something I see it through – we will figure out what is wrong we will see this through no matter what it takes.
I just want to thank all of you that have called , texted, prayed on our behalf – we feel the power of your thoughts and prayers and they are much appreciated. To those of you that have brought flowers, came by the hospital, brought food or have made plans to bring food – please know how grateful we are. It is such a blessing to have good friends and people who care about you. I’m pretty worn out so I hope this is all making sense – I just wanted to reach out to my brothers and let you all know that I love you and we are so thankful for you all.
Please go hug your wife and kids – please don’t sweat the small stuff – please don’t think you are alone if you are battling something – please know that this is a special group and we take care of each other.
I certainly miss seeing all of you each morning – and know this I will be back – but my focus right now is getting my family back to normal .

PreBlast – Roller Coaster/HDHH Wednesday May 15
We will be moving the Wednesday May 15th Roller Coaster hill run to the parking lot behind Palani Drive (401 Libbie Avenue). We will meet in the parking lot and have a hard start at 5:30pm. We will then run up and down some nearby hills and then retreat back to Palani Drive for HDHH! If you cannot make the run, please join us at the restaurant. Runners should be back by 6:15pm or so. There is outdoor seating at Palani Drive, which will be key for those that do not smell the best after a run. This will be good training for BRR 2019 (the running part and the beer drinking part afterwards.) See ya there!

F3RVA Field Day 2019
The Second Annual – First Inaugural Installation of F3RVA Field Day is set for May 11th at Dogpile. This year the four teams will be divided into Nano Regions. Captains will be:
Tuckahoe: Kubota DaVille: Spit SOJ: Gumbo City Proper: Vinny*
Ideally each team is completely made up by nano region, but we’ll see. With that, choose team uniforms as you wish. Consider the gauntlet thrown. Team Tuckahoe, may I suggest flannel shirts.
I intend for the Ghost Flag to be up, but don’t have control of it. Whoever is holding it as of May 11th, please bring it to Field Day and put it up for grabs. Corporate thanks you in advance for your cooperation.
*YHC knowing the events will offer no advantage to his team. But see Wilson if you want to file a formal complaint. He mans the hotline.

PRE-Blast – Old Glory Honor/Remembrance at NoToll tomorrow…I don’t care how late you stay up, be there!
A couple months ago Doozy and Conspiracy each told the PAX about a friend/co-worker who passed away after serving this country in as an Airborne Ranger and in DOD and ICE jobs. Doozy had a great request – that we do an Old Glory (coincidentally Doozy’s initial F3 workout was an Old Glory) in honor and remembrance of John and any other vets or civil servants that we want to lift up and honor and/or remember.
So, nobody cares how late you stay up tonight cheering on the Hoos (or not), rise to the occasion and post to NoToll for a powerful Old Glory…BE THERE!

Breakfast Club: 3/23/19 – All Hands on Deck. 6:30 Launch
Dogpile on Saturday March 23rd launches at 7:00 a.m. Breakfast Club will launch at 6:30 from ET’s. We want all the guys posting to Dogpile to post to Breakfast Club so we can roll in to Dogpile as one unit. It’s less than 2 miles at a joggers pace. Please bring your shovel flags.
Anyone interested is also welcome to join us at 6:00 in the ET’s parking lot for some light stretching and exercises called leading up to the 6:30 launch.

Pre-Blast: Inaugural F3RVA Retreat 9/21-9/22
Gentlemen,
The inaugural F3RVA Retreat is officially on the books, and will be held Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22. Get it on your calendars now. I know this conflicts with weddings, birthdays, college football, lawn mowing, and other sacred events. I’m sorry. I did the best I could, and this is the date that works best. I’m also aware its a few weeks after BRR. Again, sorry. Plan accordingly for this year, and for the same general time frame in 2020 and beyond.
When: 9/21-9/22. Generally plan to arrive sometime Saturday afternoon and leave by 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Where: 400 acre farm in Amelia. T-Claps to Gomer Pyle for arranging the property. I am not going to put the address on this site. If you are in, text me (804-852-0800) and I’ll shoot you the address. For you New Market guys, it’s probably within walking/rucking distance.
Why: Second F. The design is to have at least one annual overnight event that centers solely around 2nd F. There will not be a workout. If you want to run to the AO, go for it. On second thought, Swirly, Hardywood, Rosie, TYA, forget I said that…
Details: this will be an overnight camp out on a farm. There will not be a building for sleeping. Bring tents, hammocks, or see me ahead of time if you want to build a Yurt.
Food & Beverage: Circle K will bring his grill that proudly cooked 10,000 hot dogs at once during the Chicago World’s Fair. More details to follow, but we’ll break down into food and beverage committees. BYOB, etc.
Cost: There is no planned group overhead. The property has been graciously donated to the cause. I will probably ask each person for $5 or $10 to get the owner a nice gift for their generosity. Food and beverage will be worked out in smaller, more manageable groups.
This is going to be an awesome event, so – and I can’t believe I’m saying this – no guns.

DIY – the Original DTH ShovelFlag!
For a number of different reasons, there has been some entertaining Mumblechatter among the PAX in regard to YHC’s most superb ShovelFlag, created in preparation for our newest AO, The FORGE, starting 4/4/19. The original design seemed flimsy and labor intensive, so YHC developed a better design – stronger, lighter, and capable of lengthy extension. For those of you interested in making your own version of the DTH Original, below are the necessary steps…
Historical Note: YHC’s Flag soared above the United States Capitol on the day of YHC’s Graduation from the Virginia Military Institute (May 14th, 2005). Rah Va Mil!!!
Step 1 – go to Lowes with ~$45 to purchase the following…
Badass Shovel: ~$18

Extender Rod: ~$10
Eye Bolt & Nut: ~$1 (can be any gauge, but long enough to go through extender rod)
O-Ring: ~$1

Spray Paint: ~$5
American Flag: ~$10 (if you don’t already have one…)

DIRECTIONS:
- Remove foam grip on Shovel & plastic grip on Extender (insert Extender into Shovel to confirm perfect fit)
- Remove all labels (use GooGone)
- Spray paint Shovel above blade
- Spray paint Extender’s yellow thread-top
- Let these items dry fully
- Drill hole through top of Extender ~1” below plastic threaded top (drill bit should be slighter wider than gauge of EyeBolt)
- Use manly brute strength and whatever tools on hand to slightly widen opening of Eyebolt, then hook Eye onto Flag’s top rivet hole
- Similarly separate and widen opening of O-Ring to hook onto Flag’s lowest rivet hole, then tighten O-ring back up (if possible
- Attach EyeBolt to top end of Extender (if desired, can use a bonding agent to lock nut securely on back end)
- Slip O-Ring over bottom end of Extender, then extend rod & hand-tighten to keep Flag & O-Ring on Extender rod
- Insert base of Extender into top of Shovel – only about 1” needed, otherwise difficult to remove
- Decorate as you see fit, though traditionally an F3 sticker on the Shovel head is recommended at minimum
- NOTE: Amazon sells excellent Vinyl stickers (white, 1-3” variety) if you would like to have words on the handle
- Now you’re ready for all things F3! …or at the very least, joining the Breakfast Club extra credit on Saturday mornings! AYE!
