3 min Cosmic Mind Blow for devotional.

    Devotional: https://thelife.com/devotionals/being-present-in-the-present

Be still, and know that I am God….” Psalm 46:10

I appreciate multi-tasking. Although it’s a recently added word to our lexicon, the feat of being able to do several things at one time didn’t begin with this generation. Millennials who text, type, and talk at the same time have nothing on the mother who balances a baby on her hip, puts in a load of wash, and instructs her 3-year-old not to run on the just-mopped floor, all while consuming a half-eaten sandwich.

I’m afraid all the multi-tasking is making it harder to appreciate the beauty found in a singular accomplishment. It’s getting difficult to focus on the moment. What might happen if we took the time to not just hear what someone says, but pause to listen. Not methodically check items off our to-do list, but engage them. Not rush through obligatory morning devotions, but wait upon the Lord.

No one accomplished more in his brief span on earth than Jesus. And no one was more fully present. Jesus said he did nothing but what he saw his Father doing (John 5:19). Constant communication with God taught Him how to value every single moment. He experienced no conflict between the stillness of knowing God and the efficiency of working His plan.

If we hope to be more present in the present, I don’t know a better place to start than through emulating Jesus’ ongoing communion with God — of letting His presence infuse our present.

Father, forgive us for rushing through our days without pausing to invite You in. Please help us be more aware of Your presence, whether we find ourselves in the mundane or spectacular. Be with us. Amen.

    Take Action

    Right now…let’s pause…be still…know He is God…and savor it…..

Have a great week.. and watch out for Ms T out there!!!

  • I Understand Why It is Called Punisher

It was a hot and humid affair at the latest round of the Punisher. We dug deep into the coupon basket this evening. The following is a brief summary for your viewing pleasure:

Mosey to the back of the school for Warm Up: Side Straddle Hops, Imperial Walkers, Apple Bottom Poppers, Freddy Mercuries, Hand Release Merkins, Alternating Shoulder Taps AND High Knees, Butt Kicks, Broad Jumps, Bernie Sanders, Mummy Kicks.

Back around the School for Exercise One: Partner Exercise with resistance bands (aka the Mudslide Special).
    Round One: Sprint
    Round Two: Plank Walk
    Round Three: Lunge Walks
    Round Four: Forward Straddle Hops

All rounds involved a partner pulling on the band while the other man goes across the parking lot and back.

To the side of the school for Exercise Two: Agility ladder
Did a bunch of different football style drills on the ladder. Can’t remember what they are all called, but basically involve quick feet and stepping or jumping. I am guessing we did about 10 different variations.

Exercise Three: Coupon Circuit – one man runs a lap around the parking lot. Other man does exercises with coupons, then switch:

WWII Sit ups with medicine ball
    Shoulder Press with dumbells
    Upright Row with Kettlebell
    Flutter Kicks with Kettlebell hold

To the back of the school for Exercise Four: Parachute Sprints.
We strapped a parachute to our back and sprinted to edge of the school and back. Three rounds total.

Back to the flag: Numbers, Names, etc. YHC took us out.

Final thoughts: This was my first time posting at the Punisher – was glad to have Chum Bucket around to show me the ropes. Definitely a bit hotter at 6pm than 5:30am! The parachute appeared to be crowd favorite and I will definitely be bringing it back out.

    SOJ takeover rolls on………..

Three strong took on the great evening weather at Punisher. We did:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, LBCs.

Mosey to shade trees. PLT sets, and 4 rounds of Derkins and Calf raises. Mosey to playground in back but was crowded. So sets of People chair, Reverse crunch, and more Derkins on side of school. Mosey to covered benches but more kids there. Head to field and do 4 rounds of WWIIs and Carolina Dry docks. Scared off the kids at benches so 4 sets of Benchkicks and Dips.

Head back to flag for some Mary, stretching, and finish up. YHC took us out.

NMS: Holton was hopping tonight with people all over the school. BB title comes from the guy showing up with his 2 dogs while we were doing PLTs. Good to have Full Nelson back out. Come out to punisher when you can, you get an extra sweat in the sun during the summer months. You can get a beatdown and work on your tan too.

  • Punisher Digest 2023.04.24

Punisher temporarily relocated to northern edge of Bryan Park. Two of us posted. Following a few minutes of warmup, we ran through the park.

  • Punisher Digest 2023.05.01 May Day

From our second week relocating to Bryan Park, two posted for a run through the park utilizing trails and roads.

  • And back again

Two posted for last week’s Punisher. Following a shift to Bryan Park, we came back to Holton Elementary. We ran into the park, completed a loop, and returned to the school.

  • Pedestrians (mostly)

Three posted for the most recent Punisher. Relocate from the parking lot to the side of Holton school for COP with SSHs, Hillbillies, DQs, Helicopters, Merkins, Freddie Mercuries, and Arm Circles. Mosey around the school to the outdoor classroom for a Dip Tabata – eight rounds over four or so minutes. Jog to a concrete pad adjacent to the back of the school for alternating Jump Squats and Squats in the squares on the perimeter of the pad. Move to the nearby wooden picnic tables, alternating Incline Merkins and Bench Kicks on each table side. Following departure of a few kids properly using the swings, relocate to the swingset for a few rounds of Jerkins. Mosey back around the school building in the direction we came and pause at a well-lit brick wall where one guy holds Balls to the Wall for a count while the others hold People’s Chair and taking turns for a few rounds of the same. Stretch for the final few minutes and COT in place.
