  • Do you have one of those for your…

Nine runners and two or three riders, including one with a new pair of battery powered gloves, convened for today’s snow-less edition of RAMM. After a quick route creation from the warmth of YHCs heated seats, and a possible reverse (or regular) Carillon route was almost suggested, we chose for the newly created route. Which in reality was simply retracing of old routes with a goal of maximizing holiday lights.

    The Route

6s go west on Grove to Wisteria, Wisteria to east on Patterson

4s / 5s north on Commonwealth to east on Patterson

    4s turn right on Roseneath

    5s / 6s turn right on Allen

Everyone turn right on Floyd and work their way back to Grove an the VSF

    Announcements

    • See this thing called Slack for details on Swiper’s son’s Eagle Scout project. Small donations accepted. Beware of the tip.
    • Prayers for those in our PAX that are dealing with various health and life issues, especially in this holiday season.

So much for holiday lights. Data centers must be drawing all the power for LED twinkle lights. Lots of dark segments out there today. Still a pleasant route through the fan.

Apparently YHC can’t follow his own directions. Enamored in conversation, we missed the turn at Allen and went all the way to Lombardy. My bad.

For those that haven’t noticed, Bodo’s has moved onto a new pair of shoes with a much darker cause associated with them.

Thanks for letting me volunteer a route with 2 minutes to spare. Glad Sippy caught up to us all.

    Splinter out.

  • Tag in the snow

Quick summary: 6 Pax tried to recreate a magical workout held in the snow almost 10 years ago. It was fun!

The details: Instead of our usual mileage-based RAMM, yesterday we played a bit of sharks and minnows. The 6 PAX were split into two teams of 3:

    Team 1: Marv, Sippy, Faceplant

    Team 2: Splinter, Chippendale, Bodos.

Team #2 was given a head start and told to run in the square bounded by Westmoreland, Patterson, Grove and Malvern. They were also given a flashing white light to wear for easier detection. Team #1 was in pursuit.

Running rules: No 180 degree turns. No alleys. When found, switch roles and repeat.

The final score was 2 catches for each team. Team #1 had the advantage of raw speed. Team #2 excelled in strategy.

Team #1 won the time of possession battle, but Team #2 ultimately was declared the winner due to their surprise snowball attack.

    Moleskin:

The 1.0 version of this workout happened 3/9/16. 9 years is way too long to wait to do something that fun!

  • PBMs….Hitch’s Newest Data Set

Runners, walkers, and bikers hit the roads – all covering distance suitable to their goals. Everyone had a companion to make the miles fly by.

Good Luck to everyone running a race tomorrow. You trained and put in the time! You got this!

  • Groveeeeeee but make it fast

Fourteen harriers of varying speeds descended upon the hallowed grounds of Mary Munford for what was advertised as a run but quickly turned into an exercise in personal honesty. With a few minutes to spare, YHC took the Q and unveiled the plan: run down Grove for 23 minutes, turn around, and make it back in 22. Negative splits.

It was a familiar route with an unfamiliar sense of accountability. Go out easy, come back hard. Some followed that guidance. Others just went out hard and came back less hard.

The sixes (Sippy and Phonics) held strong. Phonics remains the only man capable of maintaining both conversation and forward momentum better than YHC. A true cardio philosopher.

    Mumble chatter highlights included:

    • Shakedown’s luscious locks, which may or may not qualify as a mullet depending on lighting and wind speed.
    • Yard khakis: the official uniform of men pretending they’re not just wearing old work pants.

    Announcements:

    • EF Hutton is headed to the bridge on the 15th. Looking for a few more to join him.
    • Thanksgiving Day beatdown tentatively set for Mary Munford at 7 AM. Nothing says gratitude like burpees before pie.

    Praises:

    • Shakedown’s flow—business in the front.
    • All men brave enough to rock yard khakis in public.

    Prayers:

    • For Saab’s M, caring for her 99-year-old mother.

YHC took us out with a reminder to be grateful for what we have—and to share it with others.

  • The Great Pumpkin Route

A Halloween Special tour of Hanover was embraced with nostalgia today. Runners, bikers, and walkers took in the sights of a fine holiday.

There was a FNG named Nick, but he disappeared before he could be suitably named. Upon second post and the appropriate inquiry, we will name him.

  • Perfect Cool Fall Weather

9 runners and 2 walkers appeared for this week’s edition of RAMM. YHC reviewed the routes and we launched at 0530.

  • Paging Dr. Cooksie 🎹🥃👶🏼

It was a beautiful morning to run. The 4, 5, and 6 milers all ran by the building I was born in – St Mary’s.
I told a funny story about the day I was born in 1973, the Dr was missing and his nurse found him at O’Tooles drunk and playing the piano. He used the forceps on my giant head and squeezed a bit too much. Imagine how smart I’d be if I wasn’t brain damaged at birth – lol. Not to worry, that doc lost his license to practice soon after my original birthday.
Great to see everyone this morning- I really appreciate and value the friendships and relationships I’ve developed with you guys over the last 8 years. Grateful.

  • Oven Mitts, All-Stars, and Car Music

Some number more than 15 gathered by foot, bike, or peg leg to scatter out and cause a ruckus in the neighborhood. After most everyone made it back, we gathered up and had great fellowship. But first, the route.

    The Route

    • North on Commonwealth
    • East on Patterson
    • Turn right at 21 minutes
    • Turn right on Grove
    • BTTVSF

Solid showing for Mary this AM. Bikers may have outnumbered runners, they certainly outnumbered the walkers. Great to see some of the All Stars show up this morning so we could all dance to the inspirational music during COT.

For the record, TYA had gloves on today.

  • Ten Strong for the Reverse Caroline Challenge

Ten Strong for the Reverse Caroline Challenge

Ten enthusiastic runners showed up this morning for a nostalgic route—the reverse Caroline with a few creative tweaks. But this wasn’t just any ordinary run.

    The Mission

Today’s special challenge: count every port-a-jon along the route. The PAX member with the highest count would earn bragging rights and a special prize at the end.

    The Results

After the run, we gathered to reveal our counts. The competition was tight:

    • Splinter and Chippendale each spotted 9 port-a-jons
    • Sippy Cup took the victory with a total of 10

    The Prize

YHC is currently developing a port-a-jon tracking iOS app (because why not?). As our winner, Sippy Cup will receive a lifetime subscription complete with an exclusive promo code when the app launches.

Congrats to Sippy Cup on the sharp eyes, and respect to all ten who posted this morning! 🏃‍♂️
