Betty Weaver Elementary

3 swift and strong took on RiverRun this morning for a traditional run of the southside hills. Route:  Loop around the school, across Robious and back to Twin Team, up Twin Team to Powderham Road and cut back across Robious Road onto Ashwell.  Down Ashwell and right at the round about for the Ashwell Loop.  Right on Sherfield, Left on Welby Drive, right on Riverton Ridge back to James River Road and the school.  4.8 miles total NMS: YHC enjoyed the run with TYA this morning in his inaugural visit to experience RiverRun.   Coming down Ashwell before dropping into Tarrington we…

5 stalwarts escaped the fart sack this Monday morning and attacked the day with a roller coaster of a run.  It was great to get Aisle 5 out to River Run for the first time – we hope to see him back again soon as he continues to log the miles. YHC has been fartsacking and basking in the rays of the sun for the last two weeks on vacation – with a few workouts mixed in but certainly not maintaining my pre-vacation routine, so what better way to jump back into the saddle then to sign up to Q…

2 faithful River runners broke out into the early heat of the day to tackle a few hills for some BRR prep. Head into Tarringon on Riverton Ridge and turn left on Ashwell to take the full loop.  Left at the round-about to head up the hill to Robious.  Twin Team down and back to the start.  A little over 4 miles.  Add another Ashwell loop and double back on Twin Team for the 5+ mile route. The hills here are real and the light breeze felt coming up Ashwell was welcome, especially for Lugnut after he tried to burn…

3 strong and faithful arrived on this warm and humid morning to see what YHC had in store for RiverRun and BRR training.  Here’s the work that was done: Easy jog around the school and back to the bottom of Twin Team Lane.  Mosey to a good starting point at the base of the hill for repeats.  Round 1 – push up the hill at about 80% for 1 minute and remember where you finish.  Easy mosey back down to starting point.  Rounds 2-7 1 minute push up the hill to try to reach the same point or further up the hill…

Hopeful that TYA would make an appearance on the southside but disappointed two strong moseyed out for a fox and hound style run by the river. The Thang Leave Bettie Weaver and make a left on James River Road, right on Riverton Ridge. At the circle the fox runs back and the hound finishes the “square” approx. 1/2 mile further then chases the fox back to James River Road and into the James River Park loop. Exit the park and run to the James River High School football field for home and away bleacher run followed by an extra lap…

4 Southside regulars posted on a cool June morning for a hill run. Here’s how it went up & down: THANG Run 3 mile loop up from Bettie Weaver, up into Tarrington, across Robious, down Twin Team. Hill repeats on Twin Team until time is up (1 full hill + 90 seconds up hill) Mosey back to Bettie Weaver. Total distance covered ~4.25 miles COT – Gumbo took us out with a great message of thanks for family, especially for his daughter Lucy who turns 8 today. Moleskin: Lugnut is disappointed his running pace has slowed from its peak last…

Four of the faithful posted at 0700 for a southside hill workout. The weather was muggy and overcast, but the rain held off. The PAX warmed up by running from Bettie Weaver ES, by James River HS, around the loop by the James River HS football stadium and baseball fields, and up Robious Road to the bottom of Twin Team Lane. The workout began in earnest with hill repeats up Twin Team Lane, followed by a mosey back down, a brief rest, and a rinse and repeat. The workout ended with a mosey back to Bettie Weaver ES and a…

3 Southside runners (I use that term loosely for YHC) posted on this soggy Monday morning for the second edition of #RVARiverRun to get our weeks off to a strong start.  The course took us out 2 miles into YHC’s neighborhood and up the formidable Queens Grant Drive hill up to what I believe is unofficially the highest point in Chesterfield County.  After a short plateau, we took to the downhill on Royal Crest Drive to the 2 mile mark and then hit the REVERSE button and headed back to James River High School. http://goo.gl/hqIZoM J-ville made an emergency pit stop…
