  • Husky rocks

12 young and old posted for a Wednesday afternoon hill run.

We ran for 45 minutes.  It was hot and humid

Gents, if you have not been around for a Husky prayer, you are missing out.  The dude is a preacher in the making.  Everytime he speaks, a tear comes to Swirly’s eyes.  It is an awesome thing to see a first grader lay down the law to a bunch of old dudes.

Props to Kubota for running with the stroller toting little Libby around with him…not an easy task.

    TYA OUT

  • 12 days away baby !

4 studs hit the hills of Roller Coaster in preparation for the BRR and here is how it went down.

    TYA – BT – Swirly – 7 small loops 5.miles

    Rosie – 1 long loop – 3 short loops – 5 miles

Great job guys – we haven’t run those short loops in  awhile – not much time to recover on those suckers….

Hey BRR team remember – next Wed there will be a Happy Hour/Team meeting  after we hit this hills. Come on out start anytime between 5-6 on the run – happy hour / meeting will directly follow at TYA’S house /Patio – 6:30ish

    See y’all in the gloom..

  • Sweating Shoes

7 studs showed up for a Wednesday jaunt…we all did some loops around hillcrest.  So as not to offend some of the sensitive tuckahoe folks, I will not review who did what.

    NMM

Honeydo pounded a beer before the run in preparation for training for the CSAUP in Oct…apparantly he is doing the 6 pack version….go Honeydo.  Rumor has it that he will pound 24 beers on Saturday night and call it a training run.

Bleeder launched a few second early and held Swirly and BT off for the first mile.  Give the man an objective (or let him make one up) and he will go after it.

Plenty of bathroom issues were taken care of during the run…i have to step carefully walking the dog this weekend.

Sweating through the soles of your shoes is possible…just look at TYA or Swirly post run on a really humid day…

    TYA OUT

  • Wednesday Evening

6 hill runners tackled the offsite Roller Coaster this evening with an unexpected downpour in the middle of the run.

Park at Kuba Kuba Dos and take off down Ridge to Holmes.  Turn left into Kanawha Recreation parking lot and escape through the one-way exit onto Ralston.  Take Ralston to a left on University and stop! (1/2 mile)  Loop starts here.  Take University to Gaymont to Kingston to Rose Hill to the end of Ralston.  Right on Ralston and get a drink of lemonade from Husky at his lemonade stand and then run up the big hill to University and do it all over again (1 mile)…or you can be like:

YHC and Lockjaw and do the loop 3 times

Swirly and TYA and do it 4 times

Saab and do it 5 times

Run back to Kuba Kuba Dos (1/2 mile) and dry off and change some clothes

…or you can be like Phonics and be LIFO and try to find PAX.  YHC is not sure where he went.  He did eventually catch up with the some of the PAX on Ralston.  He crossed River Road and ran some hills there.  YHC is still trying to figure out how he found us.  Maybe he could smell YHC’s shoes (they stink and they are being transferred to grass cutting shoes after this week!)

Gomer Pyle wanted to run but instead he got caught up in a work conference call that he had to take in his car.  Sorry, dude.  Wish you could have run with us.  Glad it was over before HDHH.

Husky appreciates everyone’s partaking in his lemonade at his stand!  Boy was excited when YHC got home.  Grin from ear to ear!

Great run this evening gents and the unexpected rain during the middle of the run was much needed to cool things off!

    Thanks again!

    Kubota

    keep posting!

  • Hill Work

9 strong posted for the Wed night Hill Run and here is how it went down.

Everyone attacked the hills !!!! Different routes were taken/ different start times were taken –  but one thing all of us had in common – each runner was smoked at the end. Way to push guys – great to see so many out there tonight. Special guest Marlo (F3 name MPD) crushed the hills on her bike – great job MPD!

BRR is 4 weeks out – guys if your on the team make sure you get some extra hill work in – you’ll be glad you did!

Next week – Roller Coaster will be held @ Kuba Kuba 2 – Kubota is the Q – come on out run, enjoy some fellowship and have a beverage or two!

    See y’all in the gloom..

  • It takes two To Tango

Swiper swiped right for Lab Rat today to get in 3.6 miles of urban mixed running.

Down the hill from the VDOT building and over Mayo Bridge.  Pick up floodwall then over T. Potter bridge.  Pipeline then up the hill to the capital building, Rocky Balboa up the steps and touch the Washington Monument.

Swiper was all talk AND game this morning…chatting me up while I sucked wind and tried to keep up his blistering pace!  We ended up at 9 minute miles, which is BY FAR faster than I have run this loop solo.

    Thanks for the shove, Swiper!

    Missed ya, Shakes.

    Lab Rat apologizes…

TYA is back Stateside and he wanted to hit the trails. So the trails we hit on a beautiful evening.  South to North trail 7 mile loop = boom !

BRR is right around the corner boys – let’s  get those extra miles in ….

  • Your gauge or mine?

Four road warriors fought the the rush hour traffic for today’s field trip AO.  We arrived at Triple Crossing Fulton, exchanged stories and we were off.  A couple quick road name changes and we were on New Osbourne Trpk.  Dodging traffic, no shoulder, and a surprisingly long hill we persevered.

YHC had a cut through along the railroad tracks in mind, but there were all kinds of foreboding signs.  The Pax informed the Q that another Pax member (aka the Deli Llama) had been ticketed for messing with CSX and we elected to continue on our known path.  Eventually, we intersected Old Osbourne Trpk and the Capital Trail.  We headed east beyond the historical marker commemorating Lincoln’s arrival in Richmond with his brief stop over at the Route 5 7-11.  It would appear that a Slurpee and Big Bite has a timeless appeal.

Just beyond this marker, we retraced our steps to the makeshift AO.

It seems Offshore just missed us.  He was inside with some friends enjoying the local beverages and awaiting our arrival.  He gets Big Data credit since he biked there and biked home to the West End.  That’s either mad props or a Whisky Tango Foxtrot.  Probably a little of both.

Conversation was what one would expect when you get data scientist, IT professionals, accountants, and accountants of IT professionals together with beverages.  Offshore’s friends among these ranks, we rediscovered history (seems the gauge of train tracks was not a standard until the middle of the Civil War), fully embraced the metric system in all its splendor, and realized there were two degrees of separation between the Mars Rover miscalculation and Osama Bin Laden within this Pax.

    Always Be Tapering,

    Lockjaw

  • Takes two to Tango!

Two warriors attacked the hills of Roller Coaster this evening and here is how it went down.
