  • Return to Riverside

Route – From Pump House parking lot, cross bridge and climb hill to top. Cross road to Riverside Drive and run Riverside Drive to Reedy Creek.  Return to Pump House parking lot.

    Total mileage – 4.5 to 7.5

Per normal operating instructions, the PAX did whatever they wanted too.  Just get the miles and hills in was the motto for the workout.  Bleeder and Theta showed up early to get a 4.5 miles.  TYA ran past Reedy creek to stretch the run to 5 miles.  Swirly, Circle K and Swiper added some distance to the end of the run.  Gomer Pyle climbed off a plane and proceeded to Hillcrest (nobody there).  Gomer checked f3rva.org and found out we moved Rollercoaster.  He was not sure of the route so he ran Buttermilk to North Bank for 7 plus.

Great 2nd F following the run.  It was a pleasure having a run without the humidity.

Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to lead and change the location.

  • Sweatier than TYA

EF planted the flag, despite opposition from the locals for a damn humid ride on the Roller Coaster.

    THANG

    Start at SF

    Run Hills of varying lengths

    End at SF

Mileages measured between 4.2 and roughly 5.5 miles.

    MOLESKIN

As YHC began to plant the flag, an ornery old Hillcrest resident stopped to make sure YHC would not be digging a hole on her precious land.  Keep driving lady.  At one minute past TYA’s 5:30, the PAX took off, Rosie and YHC in one direction, TYA, Shakedown, and Crikey the other.  Rosie and YHC were saved by Cujo’s electric shock collar on their first big loop of the AO.  After a while Rosie took off as Rosie does and crushed the hills.  YHC ran another big loop with Shakedown passing the lone wolf TYA a number of times going the opposite direction.  There was an odd blast of cool air felt by all at one corner of the route, but overall it was nasty hot.  YHC’s shirt post run could rival TYA’s socks any day.  Way to work men.

  • Rollercoaster Haiku

    It was five thirty

The Q said run, so they did

    5 miles plus for all

It was good to come back to those hills, it’s been a while for YHC.  Thanks for the col beer post run Circle K.

  • Hill run with friends

8 studs posted for a Wednesday evening jaunt on the hills

    The Thang:

3 big loops on Hillcrest, one counterclockwise, one clockwise and the last one counterclockwise.

What a treat.  Dreamliner and Screen door made the trip down from Hampton Roads for the Wednesday evening run.  Awesome to see those guys and enjoy their company on a run.  As usual, Dreamliner, slayed the run, Screen door kept pace with him the entire way and was really pushing himself.  To make the trip from Hampton Roads to RVA for a workout shows what type of heart and dedication these guys have!!! Kudos to both of you.

Great having Wedding Singer out there as well.  Not sure if it was his first Wednesday hill run or not, but he did great.  His running prowess has grown immensely over the past 4 four months.  Nose to the grindstone baby!  I love it when someone commits to something and then throws themselves into it and gives it their all. It is truly inspiring!  From the minute he committed to the BRR (or more accurately when his M committed him to the BRR) he was all in.  No doubt he would be prepared or if he would go, he was ALL in.  Great job Singer.

2nd F was had at the end of the run.  One thing you can count on when Circle K posts for a post noon time workout is “cold beers” (and cold water for TYA).  Dude is consistent.  The Silver bullets were flowing post run and when YHC had to go pick his daughter up more than an hour after the workout, the second F (and cold beers) were still flowing strongly.

BRR is 5 weeks away….I am pumped.

  • The magnificent 7

Seven stalwart posted for a Wednesday evening hill run.

The Thang: 1 big loop, 1 small loop, 1 big loop and 1 small loop.

    NMM;

Weather was a bit better than normal July/August weather.  90 and humid, but thats the best you can get this time of year.

YHC got a new outfit.  Look for it at an AO near you.

  • Sweaty Sunday

3 Regulars posted for a Sunday run.  Weather was 70 and sunny, beautiful day for a run.

    The Thang:

North to south.  Over the T. Pottersfield bridge.

    NMM

Started the day a little bit early today at 6:30.  Not sure if anyone else posted at 7, but I did not see any F3 stickers on the cars and didn’t see any Pax on the trail.  Given the likely weather for the next month, I am going to make the call and move the Sunday run to 6:15 until after the BRR.

It was sticky out there today. YHC went through 2 full camelbacks full of water.  Thats 120 ounces of water in 7 miles.  Seems excessive, but I was not over hydrated afterwards.  YHC also started a new trend with the Sunday runners.  I started shirtless with a camelback and by the end of the run all of the other PAX members joined in.  Not a pretty sight, but a lot cooler.

  • At the Roller Coaster Completely Unsupervised!

A pax of 1 met at Hillcrest Ave. off of Cary Street to lift one another’s spirits as they train for the BRR in da** near 100 degree temperatures. It appears that at least one of the 24 BRR participants knows he cannot rely on youth, natural speed, or good looks to carry him through the BRR. So there I was — north of the river (cue the classical music) — shuffling up and down hills.

The fun thing about being unsupervised in TYA’s neighborhood is seeing the look on TYA’s neighbors’ faces when I tell them that I am there from HUD in Washington DC to scope out the neighborhood for some much-needed Section 8 housing, a few group homes, and a new city bus stop.

Today, I ran 4 small loops and 1 extended small loop for a total of 5.65 mi. The pace was slow, and it was hot out there.

Keep up the good work fellas! Jville

  • APB for Missing Pug

A pax of 2 met at the top of Hillcrest on a Wed afternoon to tackle a few hills.  The temp was 96, and the humidity was fully “on.”. Yhc (Jville) completed two 1 mi loops before being joined by Shakedown.  The newly formed pax then completed three more. Shakedown had legs for more but wisely opted not to challenge the heat alone after yhc dropped.  Nearly the whole neighborhood was out looking for a missing Pug who resides at 200 Hillcrest.  We joined the effort, but the pug remained missing when we stopped.  Hopefully that has now been resolved.

    Great job Shakedown!

  • Thunderstruck and Reporting from Ghana

As a Sunny and 70 day brewed, 5 brave souls decided to be Thunderstruck by a Wednesday afternoon Storm for a Hill Run on the HillCrest Loops of various shapes and distances.

    NMS

Shake Down was patiently waiting on the top of of the hill in high Truck, YHC arrived with 2.0’s, Theta and Pele in tow, The run commenced at 5:30 PM, during the first loop UpChuck joined the PAX and proceeded to run with Shake Down and Pele, leaving YHC in the dust, ( more like a wake.) At some point Pele, decided that he no longer wanted to run loops, and made the executive decision that he could run home, which by all accounts was roughly the same distance as YHC and Theta both ran.

As a side note, it was reported that at 0630, Herbie (TYA’s 2.0) called home to report that she had arrived safely in Ghana and that this was the time the mission workers told the youth they could check in with there Parents. M TYA had to ask, “Your dad is went with you, right?”

    Announcements:
Reesestrong registration is now open and Phonics has created the F3RVA team: https://runsignup.com/RaceGroups/4045/Groups/386047 .

  • Bleeder needs to do laundry

The PAX-9 (including 1 FNG and 3 Wed Hill newbies)

What did we do-Ran up and down for 45-50 minutes

NMS:  YHC loves the Wed Hill runs because there is no better way to sweat out some stress than running some hills after a day in the office.  YHC has had a particularly stressfull past couple of days and definitely needed a good run.  TYA has given up giving directions for these runs, as nobody follows the routes he plans.  The PAX just runs from hill to hill in whatever direction they decide.  All is good as the entire PAX crushed the hills today.  YHC and Swirly completed 2 big loops and 2 small loops.  TYA and Gomer Pyle made 3 big loops look easy.  Offshore, Loose Goose, Bleeder and Theta mixed in a combination of Big Loops, Small Loops and various other routes conquering every hill along the way.   Swirly and YHC were enjoying the scenery with a couple of our perferred post Wed Hill Run hydration beverages (Coldbeer) when Saab rolled in about 730pm.  Way to get some hills in, albeit a little late.  BRR will be here before you know it, as Swirly has informed me, the Hillcrest neighbors have plenty of hills they love to share with F3RVA.

    Welcome Theta.
