A handsome 20-PAX including M’s and 2.0’s (and 3 dogs) took on this year’s Homegrown 5K Ruck. As always with rucking, wonderful conversation abounded, and as always with kids, the Dad’s ended up carrying their rucks at variable intervals. BUT, except for the two youngest tots, all the big kids made it the full 5K without needing to be carried. TClaps to Broadway and daughter “GI Jane” getting in some extra distance repeatedly circling back for the Six, and thanks to our Tarrington natives Steamer and M “SoCo” guiding our way through the hood. Those Tarrington hills are no joke,…

Eight HIM’s showed up to carry a log through Larus Park and ponder the question “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?” This philosophical thought experiment questions perception and observation and is credited to 18th century Irish philosopher George Berkeley, who argued that “to be is to be perceived.” Sooooo, did the sad clowns going into Planet Fitness perceive and stand amazed at the splendor of muscle-bound HIM’s jogging by under a mighty log? Probably not…haha… BUT, there WERE eight gloom brothers who proudly watched one another…
A magnificent seven rode into town on 4 (or 6) cylinder stallions to assemble in the early gloom for another round of Ruckhenge. Four water jugs appeared from the bed of L Woods truck, but they would have to wait their turn while the PAX attempted to escape the rain on the Larus Park trails. After a swift 2.5 mile ruck we returned to those four lonely water jugs where we used our remaining 15minutes for a weighted triple check! Weighted squats, weighted merkins, and water jug farmers carry to time the rounds was the name of the game. The…
Mid-60’s and breezy for another extremely peaceful Morning Wood – ample time to think, pray, and reflect on a missions project we’re partnering with in Papua New Guinea. After 30min rucking, returned to the Taco for some water and Woodsman arrived to drop a load of coupons on the grass hill. YHC convinced him to join a run of the green loop circuit, and he gamely participated in 2 loops while YHC (feeling no IT band pain) went for a third loop, total of 2.14mi with an improved VO2 Max of 54, up from last weeks 2-loop run. Overall excellent…
7 gathered for the latest edition of RH. Waited for a straggler, then hit the streets today. A challenge was thrown out to increase usual rucking weight by 5-10% this week in an attempt to shift from a place of comfort. Goal was to cover some decent distance as well, with hills and variable activities (Bernies on hills & Farmers Carry’s) thrown in. Solid job by the pax who covered 3.5 miles in 1:02:21. Our chapter this week focused on the Greeks and the rise and fall of their empire. As always some great discussion cropped up. Thanks for joining…
Two HIMs resisted the temptation to sleep in and came out for a 3.5-mile ruck. Along the way they stumbled upon some mysterious crop circles etched into the soccer fields. Great chatter about launching new businesses and kids sports. Don’t Waste The Day!
16 HIM’s & 2.0’s assembled at Rockwood Park for a School of RUCK. The DTH Tacoma was heavy laden with extra rucks, bags, and bricks, and all warriors were loaded down before setting off into the woods. YHC found a couple nice cabers in the woods for the kids to take turns carrying. On our 1.5 mile trek we made it down to the lake and back, and there were a couple brief COP’s for squats and lunges along the way. We even attempted teaching and implementing the GrowRuck exercise of a thee-man team carrying one wounded warrior. It was…
Quick 2 mile ruck with some Broga thrown in there before the beatdown!!!!
Only way to be the heat and humidity is getting out there early! Solo Q at Morning Wood for YHC started with rucking the perimeter loop walking track which is now painted brightly green. There’s been a lot going on of late, and the quiet time rucking with Jesus created space for some good mental mumble chatter. Ended up thinking about how I hadn’t run in a while and the green loop track could be a nice distance to set a Base time with my Garmin. Rucked back to the truck and ditched the bag. Garmin set to go. Two…
Nine noble lads embarked on a 3.5mi ruck around Larus Park and the Stony Point Mall on this week’s episode of Ruckhenge. YHC brought a couple of gift bags for the PAX to share, each weighing approximately 40lbs. Coffeerama at Einstein’s followed as per usual and the PAX had a great discussion on chapter 3 of H. Muller’s Uses of the Past, which deals with Judaism, Christianity, and their proliferation throughout history. Next week we turn our attention to Ancient Greece. Prayers for Pad Thai and his M as they are expecting baby #2 at any day now, as well…
