  • NERD ALERT

TWENTY THREE grown-boys came out to The Almo this morning to run around and get their weeks started off right! YHC had 3 fantasy football drafts over the weekend and locked in on a few players that will either make or tank the season. QTY’s were based on “my Guys” for this season so here’s what went down.

WARMARAMA – Moseyed to the nearest cul de sac and back. Gave the mission, stretched out and got into it.

    COP #1: Drake London #5

    • Ran through 5 cul de sacs and did (5) burpees at each one.

    COP #2: Emeka Egbuka #9

    • “11’s” concept but QTY (9)
    • Merkins and Squats

COP #3: Rome Odunze #15, Omarion Hampton #8, Devonte Smith #6

    • 4 Corners, QTY (15) exercises at each corner
    • 4 Corners, QTY (8) exercises at each corner
    • 4 Corners, QTY (6) exercises at each corner

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    PRAYERS/WINS

    • Safe travels this week for Excel and YHC
    • Excel’s job uncertainty

  • Chat Loops

Three rucker compadres took to the Rockwood Green Loop, joined later by Big Rig who’d been up early running with Boberry. The uses of AI/Chat was an interesting topic of discussion, and we all appreciated the massive cock at the Latino Market (large rooster statue) as we completed four loops total. Weather is currently perfect. Get out there and enjoy it fellas! Yours AYE, DTH

  • Third Annual Homegrown Half

For the third year in a row, YHC’s disorganization and lack of social promotion led to yet another successful homegrown half, 10K, and 5K!

Feedback from the PAX identified that the route last year kept everyone wanting more hills, so we brought back the OG double hill climbs and it was a big hit for all the half marathoners.

There was lots of mumble chatter along the way, but also a lot of camaraderie and shared disdain for the sudden resurgence of heat and humidity. At 6am, we kicked off to a true 70 and sunny, and the temp kept climbing throughout the race.

After the race, there was lots of speculation that our downrange guest, Dementia, was actually the infamous Bryan Kohberger, which turns out to be Fake News.

Special thanks to DTH for organizing a family, friendly 5K ruck with lots of participation.

  • Why Did They Call Her Super Soaker?

15 PAX gathered at Rockwood Park to enjoy some cooler temps and the sweet aroma of a fresh massive dog poop. At 7am, it was time to put in some work……………

Mosey to the basketball court for Warm Up:
Jazzercise, Rubble Kicks, Bruce Lee Punches, Overhead Claps, Monkey Humpers, Plank Jacks, Pickle Pounders, Alabama Prom Dates, Freddy Mercuries, Mario Jumps, Mummy Kicks, Lunge Walks, Karaoke, No Cheat Broad Jumps, Murder Bunnies.

Exercise One: Indigenous People’s Crab Walk. Man in the back does 3 Crab Cakes, then runs to the front of the line. We made our way back to the flag.

Exercise Two: Flutter Kick Mountain. Pax line up on the hill and do flutter kicks. Man in the back bear crawls to the top of the line. Stopped at the parking lot.

Exercise Three: Four Corners: Flutter Kick edition. 25, 50, 75, 100 – double count.

Mosey down the Green Path – stop for Exercise Four: one set of Pole Smokers, then Murder Gorillas along the hill.

Mosey to the side of the Dog Park for Exercise 5
Double 11’s – 1 hand release merkin, 10 LBC’s. Run to the cone for 10 Merkins, 1 WWII Sit ups. Repeat the normal 11 patterns.

Back to the Flag. Finished things up with a Monkey Humper Burnout.

    YHC took us out

Final thoughts: It was a festive atmosphere this morning with lots of “that’s what she said” zingers. We also had, to my knowledge, the first Didgeridoo appearance at a workout. Lot’s of strong individual performances this morning. Cha Cha was killing it on the 11’s. Much respect to Rubble for doing the whole workout! Great seeing Blue Moon out – I was able to stamp his passport after the workout concluded. Well done fellas

  • Like A Rolling Stone

After a brisk jog around the bus circle, at the foot of Mount Chaplain, a surprise awaited — a stash of pavers hidden behind a bush, courtesy of DTH, who apparently moonlights as the Easter Bunny of concrete. From that moment on, the stones became our best friends. They got lifted, rolled, dragged, pressed, and cursed at. If you were here, you carried rocks. If you weren’t here, your shoulders thank you.

Warmerama: side straddle hops, don quixotes, Ukrainian soldiers, imperial walkers. lbcs, merkins, roscoe’s mom, Fudds wife, Wilson’s wife

    The Thang:

COP 1: DORA- partner one Bernie’s up the hill, partner 2 with coupon does 100 swings, 200 squats, 300 overhead press

COP 2: run to second parking lot partner work.
Dung Beetle: Bear crawl and roll a concrete block in front. Finish at median 30 curls

    COP 3:
Round: Partner weight work: Wheel barrow to median, switch partners, 25 partner world war twos. Hold at one end. If odd number- odd person lunges with paver

    Round 2: Rescue Carry
Partner 1 places arms under Partner 2’s armpits, partner two walks. At median 10 burpees, switch 10 burpees when return to starting point.

COP 4: 11s back at the first parking lot, merkins and world war 2s

  • 50 Lieutenant Dan Burpees?

6 Pack of PAX made it to the friendly confines of Goyne Park for the latest installment of The Bermuda Triangle. It was a mild 70 and sunny, but the Bermuda Boys were not in for a mild beatdown.

We moseyed over to the basketball court for the standard warmarama, then got into some suicides for the first COP

Lunge walk to quarter, half, 3 quarter, and full court, 10 merkins, then Bernie back.

Mosey to the coupon shed to pick up 3 coupons and bring back to the pavilion for a Dora.

100 Thrusters, 150 Heels to Heaven, 200 Jump Squats while partners take turns running to the other side of the parking lot and back.

Return coupons then back to the flag.

YHC was looking at Big Data, and turns out this is Pool Boy’s 50th post at Bermuda Triangle. So it was imperative to do a 50 count of something. Unfortunately, time did not allow for 50 Lieutenant Dan Burpees. So, 50 Merkins would have to do.

    Great work by the PAX!

  • Sweet dreams are made of these!

0528: cool, dewy, 60’s, and a cacophony of fullheart mumble chatter bouncing around among the gathered PAX. 0530: classic 80’s rock electric guitar booms out from a speaker being carried off into the gloom by the Q …the PAX brimming with questions follows behind with bewildered enthusiasm.

    The THANG:

    WARMERAMA:

    • Mosey out to Field 1 and circle up
    • Brief Welcome & Disclaimer
    • Brief smattering of warm-up Reps IC

    THE F3 BEATDOWN DECK:

    • PAX given review of Beatdown Deck rules of engagement – 5-card rounds, each followed with a run around the field, complete as many rounds as possible …most of the PAX still chattering away, most not hearing any instructions anyway over the blasting classic rock, oh well
    • x6 awesome sets completed, x30 cards total – BOOM.
    • Silly group pic around completed cards

    Mosey BTTF:

    • 3 minutes of stretching

    COT:

    • Counterama # 15
    • Namerama
    • Announcerama (see Below)
    • BOM Prayer

NMS:  YHX was amazed with the frisky cool-weather mumble chatter happening before launch time.  Didn’t feel right to interrupt so it was just the music to Q our kickoff, and the PAX remained animated for the full 45 minutes – clearly seen in the group picture. Could a Q ask for a better gaggle of gloom HIM’s to start the day with?!? And many thanks to the beatdown deck bringing a smokefest – ALWAYS a solid option. Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Homegrown Ruck

A handsome 20-PAX including M’s and 2.0’s (and 3 dogs) took on this year’s Homegrown 5K Ruck. As always with rucking, wonderful conversation abounded, and as always with kids, the Dad’s ended up carrying their rucks at variable intervals. BUT, except for the two youngest tots, all the big kids made it the full 5K without needing to be carried. TClaps to Broadway and daughter “GI Jane” getting in some extra distance repeatedly circling back for the Six, and thanks to our Tarrington natives Steamer and M “SoCo” guiding our way through the hood. Those Tarrington hills are no joke, but everyone made it around Draper’s 5K course and we had a fun time naming a lot of FNG’s during COT. And yes, we broke the seal on naming M’s – who knows, maybe we’ll get a FIA PAX activated! Appreciate all you guys coming out – we’ll do it again soon! Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Purple Rain??

7 HIM’s showed up to Satan’s Hill expecting 45 minutes of Jazzercise. Nancy ended up going OOT so YHC stepped in to lead the boys! Purple Rain was apparently talking some mess about YHC’s boot camps so a BRUTAL plan was in place. However, he wasn’t able to make it out today so the PAX was in luck.

WARMARAMA – Moseyed to the top of the hill and back. Gave the mission, stretched (w/ Jazzercise included) and got into it.

    COP #1 – 4 Corners, LOTN-style and (3) Burpees at each stop

    Corner #1 – Top of Satan’s Hill

    Corner #2 – Wilson’s house

Corner #3 – Cul de sac near Wilson’s house

    Corner #4 – Home Base

Return to “eye” each round and complete 20 WWII Situps

Mosey to the track for Exercise Two: DORA with 100 dips, 200 jump squats, 300 Side Straddle Hops. Runners go through the gate and to the end of the track and back.

Long Mosey around BWES and back to the Flag.

    YHC took us out

Final Thoughts: With most of the Lounge gatekeepers absent, we were able to get a little more running in than normal. It was wet and humid, but the PAX pushed through and were looking strong. Great to see House Party’s knee improving and Deep Dish moving well! The Tarrington Crew was representing. Lots of great activities tomorrow including The Bridge and Homegrown Half. I will be there in spirit for both.
