Reflections in the Gloom
Five gloom sherpas posted to Ruckhenge for their weekly trek up the Everest of Life. With a massively devilish grin, YHC brought out a few “presents” for our lucky PAX, two 40# bags of rocks (GTE Team Weights) and a 60# sandbag. See what happens when nobody signs up to Q?!? Sharing the coupon love, the PAX took off for a big lap around the area, returned to the flag and dropped coupons to do a speed ruck lap, then returned for a Triple Check: all PAX wearing their rucks, one pair takes the sand bag for a walk while the other two groups are occupied with either coupon press or squats. With 10min left the coupons were again shouldered and the PAX did a final medium-sized lap. Mumble chatter was highlighted by many Growruck memories. Appreciated the brotherhood quality time together fellas – no better way to start the day! And Rodeo Clown joined us for some awesome QSource cofferama conversation. Yours AYE! ~DTH

Ruck-a-ccino
The Hunt For Red Octagon led 5 HIMs to gather at the stop sign at 0530 with weight on their back and coffee in their hands. Off we went. Heist brought some energy this morning and set the pace out the gates. Discussions on fantasy football, the proper placement of a front door on a house, and if we should adopt a battlecry by saying three FFFs in succession (yes).
moving and grooving this morning. Good to get out with the group as always.

YHC took us out
Final thoughts – It was a homecoming of sorts for YHC as I realized I hadn’t Q’d No Toll in almost 3 years. Strange considering it is the closest AO to my house. The PAX did an amazing job, despite some initial grumbling about running. The running was actually pretty effective in curbing the Chatty Kathy’s in the group. Doozy was the hero we all needed, lighting the path back to the pavilion. Strong effort by all.

Flat route at River Run
Headed left out of Weaver and looped through JRHS back to Robious. Right into Riverdowns North, left on Forest Creek, and another left on Lenox Forest. Cross Robious into Kings Farm. Turn around at Riverdowns South, just before hitting roller coaster, and reverse back to Weaver.
4+ total. Doozy hung with us while tapering for another half this weekend. Good luck Doozy.
Good conversations this morning.
Prayers and quick healing for Singer as he heads into surgery on his elbow next week.

It’s Training Season
Lots of deep conversation and mumble chatter as (half) marathon training season enters its final month of 2024. YHC & Boberry got in 12, Rosie got in 9, and Honeymoon healed up and joined for his first long run in months bringing in 6 great miles.
Coffee at Starbucks with the walkers, Duane & Cookie, afterwards.
A few more long runs to go before race day!

A big day that started early
My apologies for this getting out late, after today things went a way that is not my normal schedule yet what I will state at the end everyone will understand. Side note…. Hopefully Broadway made it home ok he had car issues but a sign of F3 is the help that might be needed when the time comes. The reason I carry a portable charger cause never know when someone might need it to get their car going. I normally get there as little early but today and after leading Satan’s Hill yesterday, I needed a small break before starting this workout
12 off us came out on a brisk yet soon heated up morning to see what I had in store. We started with a good run up and back. Then to the warm up(SSHs, Don Quixote, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soldiers, Merkins, LBCS plus a little stretching). I like to push things try to for the entire workout get about 3 total miles in
Lets start in the woods at the training area which has been cleaned up. Start with a mini OYO Dora 10 pullups, 25 jump squats, 50 double count flutters, 75 jump ropes after each exercise(run to the gate and back). Time to make it out of the woods and into the open.
True Dora time…. I decided let’s go a little extra see what we had. 150 Merkins, 300 squats, 450 toe taps. A mini run around the lot and back. Did everyone kick ass(yes) a side note my heart rate during your an insane 200bpm(I did not feel it). Once we finished, took it easy turn headed to the next area
Triple check time… People’s chair, tricep dips, a run down the stairs, then bear crawl back up. One we completed, I saw that we had time for one final thing(11s of Lt Dan and Mike Tyson’s). As we finished, holding plank was no small feat. As we finished, back to the flag for a little broga, then time we up. Numbers, names (welcome Anthony Dangerous Mind) to the group he came out with Broadway. Yes he’s a teacher if you don’t know the movie the song Gangster’s Paradise came from it. Prayer led by YHC to close things out. See Slack for upcoming events there’s a lot going on
Why am I late with this: if you have seen me I don’t have my Pathfinder anymore transmission bit the dust, today trip to Colonial Subaru led to a 2018 CR-V EX very well loaded that you will see me in(real nice and really taken care of). So I now have something new to start the next chapter of trips to Spartan, other races and enjoy road trips. The second thing I want to put it into your heads to think about for 2025. Lockdown and I do Spartan races next year there’s a stop in Virginia 10/11-10/12/25 location to be determined. I would like to get a good group to get their first medal and see what this is all about. You have time but think about it, test yourself see what you can do. Have a good one I will see you soon

Super moon….super bands
It’s been a little time since I led a Q, yet it was time to get one under my belt see what madness I can come up with. 8 came out to see if the word of the day could be survival. Here’s the breakdown….
Start of with a run up Satan’s Hill, back down for a good warm up(SSHs, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soldiers, Michael Phelps, Merkins, LBCs, plus additional stretching). A run up the path led by my Garmin Watch light(has a good brightness) to the little circle to start
A Mini OYO( on your own) Dora to start out:,25 merkins, 50 squats, 75 2-count flutters. After each exercise, a run up and back once we finished time for a triple check around the corner
TC time… Runner to the stop sign and back, along with LT Dan’s and WW2. After that, main event time. The bands with an even number partnering up was perfect. The set up, was partner 1 a little past half way then partner 2 finished the rest. At the top, one burpee turn back down for the next round partner 2 goes first etc. The 4 ways were regular runs, bernies, side shuffle facing the clubhouse, side shuffle facing the woods. One we finished, into the lot for a little broga where Futon could not grab his feet for Happy Baby, Wildcat relaxed and ripping turn like he’s known for, Cookie grunting like he was giving birth we were not sure. Closed it out on time, numbers, names announcements (see Slack a lot going on). Final prayer led by YHC to close it out
A couple of things… The idea if you have an interest next October a Spartan race they are coming to Virginia location to be decided but a date of 10/11-10/12 is set. If you have seen me, I don’t have my Pathfinder anymore(transmission went kaput). Right now I am looking hopefully a newer vehicle will be driven soon. It was a good vehicle, after 188k the time was up. I am looking forward to my next vehicle taking trips yet simply having something I can get into and fine is nice. See you next time!!!

Dr WasHard
A dozen loyal HIM’s showed up with popcorn to see whether DTH or Facilities Manager “Bobby” would win the pissing contest. In this game you gotta show up to win. - Parter up for a KILO-DORA

- x400 LBC’s

COP #2:

NMS: Thanks for coming out fellas. Nice to achieve the recently highly decorated achievement of the BD1000. Even nicer to celebrate our SOJ brotherhood bond that constantly enriches our lives. Mumble chatter was in high form today with whether Bobby or the RPD might show up, possible nicknames for Bobby if we could headlock him to post, some entertaining new nickname options for YHC for the next 1000 posts (where is Ollivander anyway?), Oyster pulling a B&D 2nd F together, and the mysteries of Snuffs ink (just ask for a private tour…) Well, as YHC writes this 25’ up a tree waiting for venison to show up, will sign off with this – with all things in life, including F3, you get out what you put in. Very thankful for the extraordinary blessing you all have been in my journey – ya’ll always make me feel like the return is exponential compared to the investment. Yours AYE! ~DTH
