  • Rain and a Ruck

Boberry and Big Rig were out on a run, Broadway then I arrived. Big Rig went to get his miles in, the rest of us strapped up, headed out for a morning ruck. One thing with me: I like speed running I haven’t figured that out but rucking I have it down. The goal was to be under 15 minute/mile(our average for 3.38 miles was 14:27/mile). We felt good the rain and wind was there, yet once you get going don’t notice it. After that a little rest, get ready for boot camp

  • Is this miserable or fun?

5 brave HIM made their way to The Crossing for a House Party beatdown in the pouring rain. Here’s how it went down.

Circle up for COP which included arm circles, Ukrainian soldiers, merkins, copperhead squats and flutter kicks.

Indigenous peoples run around the perimeter of the church with the last man doing 3 burpees

4 corners which included 15 merkins, 30 squats, and 45 monkey humpers.

Line up for suicides by running down, bear crawling, and lunge walking while doing various exercises at each line. Last round of suicides was cut short to add a round of man killers.

Finish off with a ring of fire with each Pax leading an exercise in cadence.

Numbers, Names, YHC took us out.

Its hard to say if posting in the pouring rain is really miserable or really fun. Regardless, its something about getting out there and doing the hard things with the pax that makes it worthwhile.

Thanks for letting me lead tonight,

    House Party

  • Creating alpha males of our species

Time to time…I bring out things that helps with the training. Things the group don’t get to see our work on that much but this morning, it was time. A hungry group of 14(that is what the hawk that checked yes out the entire time thought) came out and heard that something was going to happen, did not know what.

For starters… There’s another group that I saw for the first time there so we moved to the lower basketball court for WARMARAMMA (SSHs, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soldiers, Helicopters, Cherry, Merkins, LBCs). We also did an easy full suicide round to help get warmed up. After that, we headed to the baseball field for the beginning

First part consisted of sandbag bear crawl drags (50 pound sandbag pulling it up using every part of the body). Everyone else was spaced at every other pole doing pole smokers then at the end heels to heaven. After you hit the person, bear crawled to the next empty spot, at the end those who were tired switched to lunges. We went foul pole to foul pole ounce everyone finished, took off to a spot not used before

the trail near the nature center parking lot(a little area that was set up for a triple check: step ups, tricep dips a little run down and back. After that venture to the parking area near the back part.

i believe I may be the first to create a triple station triple check (3 spots with triple checks at each one). Part 1: battle ropes, swings, Mario skips down and back. Part 2: sandbag lifts to shoulder(80 and 100 pound bags to choose from), KB pull thrus with a Merkin after each one, run down 10 toe taps bernie back. Part 3: Rainbow ball slams, partner tire tosses, jump rope(choice of 50 with a regular rope, 25 with a 5 pound rope, 15 with a 10 pound jump rope(yes I own one). Once everyone was able to get in some work, a little time left

A four corner escalator/deceleration 10 Merkins, 20 plank jacks, 30 2-count flutters, 40 squats. After that a short break, then do the whole thing, at each corner drop one part. Once we finished, a final push a quick 15 rep burpees from one side baseline to another(start at 5, run across then do 4 etc). With a minute left, run to the flag where we finished

Numbers, call outs, announcements and prayer(for Big Rig’s friend Rico and Rodeo Clown’s mom) to close things out.

Still have time to sign up for GROWRUCK, I have a goal since Rugged Maniac is no more, get a lot of people out there to do a Spartan or another like race that I can find. If Spartan is the choice, I have codes for 20% off a Spartan which helps. Have a good one see you next time

  • tRuckin

7 HIM’s satisfied the Morning Wood with a speedy 5K (3.1mi) ruck completed in 49 minutes. Enjoyed the conversations and the push. YHC is leaving for Aruba 😎☀️…see ya! ~DTH

  • You can find Purple Rain at Aldi

8 beasts showed up this beautiful wanna be spring morning for some fun at Satan’s Hill. Requests for a morning full of broga turned into a nice little beatdown that went something like this:

Warmup: Mosey to bottom of Satan’s Hill and back to the parking lot, SSH, Helicopters, Copperhead Squats, Butterfly stretch, Single knee to chest both sides, LBCs

COP 1: Game of Gambling 2/4/6/8/10/8/6/4/2 – Vegas odds were not in our favor! PAX member flips a quarter and calls Heads/Tails in the air. If call is correct, we take the easy road with Shoulder Tap Merkins, if call is incorrect, we take the hard road with Burpees. Started at 2 reps then run to opposite end of the parking lot and increase/decrease exercise count by 2 with next flip. A few coin flips in, PAX was convinced YHC brought a heads only quarter this morning causing us to do way more Burpees than we hoped for. Purple Rain was gifted the quarter and his Aldi shopping cart this weekend is paid for!

COP 2: Partner up for a Dora with use of coupons – 100 Overhead Press, 200, Bicep Curls, 300 (150 on each leg) Bulgarian Split Squats – Runner goes up and around the island at opposite end of parking lot and back.

COP 3: Ab Blaster w/ Cardio to shed the winter weight in light of the warmer weather – Started at Satan’s Hill entrance with 5 LBCs, run up Satan’s Hill to Farham intersection. 5 LBCs, 10 (2 count) flutter kicks, run to Prenoman intersection. 5 LBCs, 10 (2 count) flutter kicks, 15 (2 count) Freddie Mercuries, run down Prenoman cul-de-sac hill. 5 LBCs, 10 (2 count) flutter kicks, 15 (2 count) Freddie Mercuries, 20 Box Cutters, run up Prenoman cul-de-sac hill back to intersection. 5 LBCs, 10 (2 count) flutter kicks, 15 (2 count) Freddie Mercuries, 20 Box Cutters, 25 Oblique ankle taps, run back towards Satan’s Hill to intersection at Farham. 5 LBCs, 10 (2 count) flutter kicks, 15 (2 count) Freddie Mercuries, 20 Box Cutters, 25 Oblique ankle taps, 30 Plank Jacks, run back to Satan’s Hill parking lot.

COP 4: Triple Check in groups of 4 – 2 runners, Jerkins and Curb Dips.

Time called, Numbers, Names, Announcements – Grow Ruck May 3-5, Breaking Bread Sign Ups, Rudy gave a nice shoutout/thanks to F3 guys that have been praying for him and reached out with kind words of support. He has felt the love and it has pushed him through a tough time.

Prayer Requests included continued thoughts/prayers for Rudy and his family and for Swoops’ friend who is set to return to the states in mid March.

Always a pleasure to lead such a great group of gentlemen and push each other a little harder each time. Continue to get up and push yourself and become a better person today than you were yesterday. Stay blessed!

  • That’s a Spicy Meatball

11 Got together at Timberwolf to try something new, following my lead. Merkins made it burn but we made it through. Here is how it went:

Mosey to the Parking Lot making sure not to jump any curbs figuring the plan out on the way. Warm-Up: Side Straddle Hops, Ukrainian Soldiers DeadMan Hang, Alabama Prom Dates and LBCs.

COP #1: Mosey around the lot looking for the best place to start 4 Corners, Prostitution Style. 20 Side Straddle Hops, 25 Merkins, 30 LBCs, 40 Flutter Kicks

COP #2: Mosey around the lot to set up Partner Doras. 100 Heels to Heaven 200 Flutter Kick, back down to 100 LBCs, Plank for the 6.

COP #3: 11’s around the Mid-Islands. Side Straddle Hops paired with Squat Jumps. OC called plank for the 6 and stretched it out.

COP #4: Finished up with Inclined Side Crab Crawls with reverse for an even beat down.

Called Time after DeadMan Hangs leading into Announcements and Prayer. Privileged to have an opportunity to lead. Felt really good to contribute and challenge myself by being outside of a comfort zone. YHC: MEATBALL

  • Goose Poop Ice Slide

At 5:30 AM, we fired up the FORGE once again. Post-workout surveys suggest that a good time was had by all………………..The following is a brief summary for your viewing pleasure:

On the descent: Crab Walk the hills/grass, Lt. Dan’s across parking lot

Exercise Four: Ring Around the Toadie – Frog Jump around the perimeter of the parking lot. Asking the PAX to face the same direction throughout proved to be a bridge too far.

Back towards the flag: Stop on the hill for Incline Ab Challenge #2:

25 LBC’s, 25 Freddy Mercuries, 25 American Hammers, 25 Hello Dollies. Finished off with 25 Decline Werkins

A couple of Hill Repeats near the upper parking lot, and time is called.

    Numbers/Names/Announcements/Prayer Requests

Final Thoughts: The PAX were able to overcome many challenges today. The warm-up area was definitely a little sus. In addition, Wedding Singer and NTB nearly choked themselves out on the Goose Poop Ice Slide. But, in true F3 fashion, we were able to power through. It was great seeing Gaston back out – also shout out to L Woods who continues to post regularly. Lot of Rucking options coming up, and the Murph at Twin Team tomorrow. Do yourself a favor and check Slack for details.

  • Leave no man behind… except latecomers… they have to catch up

Eight freedom fighters of Southerly origins rucked the South Bank of the James from HFW to PP and back. NTB snoozed the alarm one too many times and escaped his fartsack 3 minutes before launch, texting “I can catch up.” With great faith, YHC replied “Yeah you can.” And perhaps with fear of loneliness as his greatest inspiration, NTB+50# ran/ruck caught the PAX before we reached the turnaround at Pony Pasture. TClaps! Good times and conversations had by all. GTE is just a couple months away! Let’s keep the ruckmentum going and get some more PAX registered. 💪🔥👊

TONIGHT -🚨 VQ ALERT 🚨 – MEATBALL at The Crossing, 6pm kickoff, 401 N Parham Rd

  • The Devil’s and Mudslide Playground

Good morning…..70 and sunny(more like 25 and I thought I saw a penguin from the corner of my eye). A day like today, it allows me to try thingsv plus some gear I haven’t brought out in a while was used. It was just 2 of us((Broadway and myself). After a quick warmup(SSHs, Don Quixotes, Arm Circles, Imperial Walkers) time to get it going.

The first notes from Cult of Personality hit, we were off and running. First part was a 5 exercise station, 3 times thru: 50 2-count battle ropes, 10/side clean and press with a 16kg/35 pound kettlebell, tire slams(10), 10 WW2 with a press(25 pound sandbag) at the top, and jump ropes(in brought 2, 50 with the regular and if you felt up for the challenge 25 with a 5 pound rope). After that down to the football field

What was up next: how about sandbag drags with bear crawls(WTF). A 50 pound sandbag drag, reach back, grab a handle and pull thru. As it moves up, bear crawl to where the bag stopped switch hands. This morning one corner of the end zone to the other side, then turn back around. As the person is doing the drags, the other is running down to the end zone at the other end, come back pick up where they left off at. You have to remember, sand moves inside this requires everything from head to toe to work together so a challenge no doubt

As time was getting closer, one final mini triple check: run up and down the hill with the sandbag on your shoulders, the other person does 10 incline Merkins, 15 tricep dips. We went back to the street, closed it out, loaded gear into my vehicle and called it a day

This will be done again, hopefully with a few more people cause I could literally use 2( I’m have 4 sandbags ranging from 25 to over 100 pounds), what I can come up with will be fun plus the battle ropes fact in my head just now something for next time. I lead again Saturday at Rock and Roll, be ready.
