I’d like to welcome 2 visitors today, Kubota and Shake Down.  I didn’t hear much muble chatter this morning but maybe it was because I was at or near the rear most of the time.  Thank you to Spit and Wheelie for planking everyone up until we slower members caught up. Have a great weekend men.

    NMS

YHC has noticed some partial merkins in recent weeks and decided to amend that with some hand-release activity. This was inspired by Hardywood’s call to full merkin mayhem. It was also inspired by Helix’ full-form exercises at every turn.

The COP always provides an opportunity to throw the PAX off a bit. The hand-release merkins after every exercise elicited grunts and groans. That means YHC is doing something right! At one point, Spit tried to jump ahead of YHC and he got down to the ground but YHC shifted at that exact moment. There is always a healthy level of cat-and-mouse going on with Spit!

The PAX went to work on the Dora 1-2-3 and took no prisoners with the hand-release merkins. Spit called out Hardywood’s technique of throwing the arms out to the side and lifting legs. Some of the PAX gave it a shot. Most of them didn’t. Wild Thing continued to show that being in your 60s is not an impediment to pounding out a F3 workout. Spike shared how he woke up at 4 am for a five mile run before the workout. T-claps for that! The WWII sit-ups provided another “opportunity” to not shortchange the exercise. After the jump squats, some of the PAX decided to go for the dunk on the lower rims while others attempted to touch the high rim. Most missed…

It was another glorious morning in the gloom with a fantastic team.

  • F4 – Fourth F Being Family

    Spit posting for Pick 2

A Total of 21 including 9 FNG’s (Guys and Gals) and 7 2.0’s arrived at New Highland BC on Friday to help Pick 2 celebrate his wedding weekend.

    This how it went down:

Mosey around the church one lap then head to the field

COP (ALL IC) – SSH, DQ, Imperial Walkers, Shoulder Taps, Merkins, LBC’s, Arm Circles

    THANG – Mosey the pavilion

Triple Check – Dips, Skull Crushers, Run down the gravel road and back. Rinse and Repeat 3 times of course

    Mosey back to the field

    3 BALL

    • PAX was divide into to teams
    • Have one group start “at bat” and the other group start in the field. The group “at bat” should create a batting order that they maintain for the entire game
    • The first participant at bat kicks each of the three balls into the field, one at a time, and then runs the bases. The kicker tries to kick the ball into open space so the fielders do not catch the ball. Fielders attempt to catch and/or retrieve the balls as soon as the first ball has been kicked, while being aware of the other balls being kicked.
    • Fielders collect all the balls and place them in the bucket beside “pitcher mound”. Fielders work together to run and hand off the balls to each other to get the balls to the bucket.
    • Participants must be on a base when all balls are placed in the bucket. Once on a base, participants are not required to run to the next base. They can decide to stay on the base if they do not think they can make it to the next base before all the balls are placed in the bucket. If they are between bases when balls are all returned to the bucket, they return to the previous base. More than one participant is allowed on a base at a time.
    • Runs are scored each time a participant reaches home base safely.

Mosey to SF for Numerama, Namerama, Announcements, PICK 2 took us out

This was a nice change of pace at The Creek last Friday. We had a great showing from wedding party including the father of the bride (Blue Tux), father of the groom (Vila), and The bride herself (Pick 1).

The 2.0’s seem to enjoy 3 Ball the most but YHC did notice a few adults getting into as well.

To learn more how 3 Ball works watch the video

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Pick 2 on their marriage this past Saturday!

    NMS —
YHC will miss all you guys for the next month while he is gone on a family vacation whose original plans started a long time ago when the kids were young and watched a documentary on the redwoods.  It was at that point that the vision of this great cross country trip first started.  It is now much bigger than YHC could have even imagined at the very beginning.
People’s reactions when we tell them what we are doing range from “That sounds like an amazing vacation” to “You’re crazy!”  We have thought the same things going through this process.
Anyhow, the workout went pretty well — everyone loved the 10 minutes of Burpees just as much as YHC loved them the first time he experienced them at 45 MOM a few months back and the second time a short while ago at the Gridiron.
Kudos to Sugarsock for kicking butt on the four faces of Rushmore.  Those roll ups were tough after about 10.
Will post pics of YHC and family planking in front of Mt Rushmore for you all on Twitter.

    See you soon

  • Hot Potato Q, an Abacus Sighting, and a Crazy Car

8 Crazy guys showed up for a rain soaked workout this morning!  Gumbo was supposed to Q, but the M and 2.0’s got sick in the middle of the night.  Gumbo texted Spit who was already up because of Baby Spit and Hot potato was called.  Hope the Gumbo family is feeling much better soon!

Tomorrow is Puppy Pile at 7:05 Dogwood Dell — all bring frisbees!

    NMS —
Last night there was a mysterious message from Phonics saying that there was a guy coming to the Creek today, but he needed some shoes.  size 11 or 12.  I thought it was an FNG — if it had been his name would have been Joe Jackson.  Anyways it turned out to be none other than Abacus who was not wearing normal workout clothes, but did have tennis shoes on from somewhere.  He showed up in a Tesla (his employer) — more on that later…

Workout was fun and difficult, but extremely wet.  It rained and then it rained some more.  and some more.  YHC was wringing his shirt and shorts out every few minutes.  At least YHC was not sweating to death…

Nice having Abacus, Vinny and Hardywood there from other venues!  Come back any time!

    On to the Car.
Afterwards, Abacus asked if we wanted to ride in his car.  Some of us took us up on that offer.  But first, the car had to give us a demo…  see the video if you want to see something completely stupid and utterly pointless.  but also pretty cool.

So Abacus took some of us on a ride.  A few notes — going 0 to 45 in a second is quite awesome!  Having the car drive itself, also awesome, but maybe a little scary.  If Teslas are the way most cars will end up in the future, then the future will be great!  Go check one out if you ever have a chance.

    Peace out,
    Opus

    MOLESKIN

This was the first “official” day of summer for the kids in Daville. With that being the case YHC noticing the Q was vacant for today proposed that we make today a 2.0 lead workout. There was no response on FB Messenger other than a thumps up from Pick 2. Well scratch that idea, Plan B normal Hot Potato.

With it being the first day of summer and RAMM special ride, YHC wanted what the numbers would look like. Yard Sale and Emoji pulled in early giving us some good ol pre-workout mumble chatter. Just after 5:25 Spike pulled up with Slash (his 2.0) and our newest PAX member Bulkhead (2nd post). It seemed that Slash was excited about leading some this more. Ok then Plan C!

YHC got things started and passed it Slash who pulled a Swirly and didn’t give it. He crushed it! YHC has never seen the PAX so spent at the end. Slash had the PAX moving non stop.

Glad to have Bulkhead out once again. Hope to see him as regular soon.

The Belching was just good, wet, messy fun that looked interesting while reading through the list of routines.

YHC watched a video of a lady beating the world record for burpees in 60 minutes (1,490) with form that would get you mercilessly mocked at any AO that YHC has been to. This lead to too much though about burpees and all the fun things that can be done with them. That gave YHC an opportunity to get his work in for the Swamp Rabbit challenge as well. Tea Party and The Carpenter tore this one up. Aperently YHC will have to step up his Qing game if he hopes to challenge those two in the future.

It was necessary to change out APD after watching the form and technique of Yard Sale, that along with the noises that he was making this morning was definitely NSFW. There is not enough brain bleach in the world for that image. YHC was just glad that he did not have to explain that to his kids on the way home.

Proud father moment, when Chewy went back to the second corner to check on Ewok who was having some trouble and then staying with him until he finished the last corner. YHC seeing his oldest 2.0 go back and make sure that his youngest 2.0 was ok was almost enough to give him a feeling. Coincidentally, at that same time some dust got in YHC’s eye and he had to blink a lot to get it out.

    Thanks for letting me lead

    NMS

What a great day to be at The Creek. YHC didn’t have a true theme other than working on F3 Swamp Rabbits’ June Challenge. For those who are Twitter followers of F3 Richmond (aka Lab Rat), would have noticed a tweet yesterday regarding join another F3 Region’s monthly challenge. The challenge (per Lab Rat) is the following: 5000 Merkins, 5000 Squats, 50 miles. Since YHC knows he wouldn’t be able to complete the summer tour, this seem to be a good alternative.

Speaking of Lab Rat, as one of the founding members of DaVille he finally made his first post at The Creek (yes this is true YHC looked it up!). The mumble chatter will never be the same.

The Carpenter clearing thought we were on CST by setting his alarm for 6. YHC received a text around 5:23 (did read till after the workout) from him saying he was on his way. Give the approximate time of 10 minutes it took for the PAX to complete the COP, The Carpenter basically got out of the fart sack and to the AO in about 15 to 17 minutes. Knowing its about a 10 minutes YHC would have to say that was pretty impressive.

The Human Jerkin (Which YHC  has just named) seemed to be a hit. That’s again to Moses from F3 Charlotte for introducing this and the Partner push/pulls to YHC at F3 Phoenix last week.

Apologies (taking a play out of Lab Rat’s book) goes out to those that decided to sign up for this June challenge after the workout. Turn out Lab Rat and YHC were mistake. The challenege is actually 5000 WWII sit-ups instead of squats. Oh well atleast it’s only day 1.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • F3RVA Summer Tour has begun! Who will be the first to post at every AO this summer?

Thanks to all the guys and girl who showed up today for this morning’s beatdown.  It was a beautiful morning with a little less humidity than normal.  Nothing stood out this morning as far as mumblechatter is concerned, but YHC thinks everyone was having a great time with the workout.  Pick two has become a regular again and we are glad for that!  Missed regulars Carpenter and Spit this morning.  Hope you both are doing well — see you soon!
BTW — George Young of AC/DC fame was a member of the Easybeats back in the 60’s.  This is one of the first rock songs YHC remembers from his youth and still loves it!

    Peace

F3 RVA Summer Tour – Starts Saturday, May 26

    https://youtu.be/Xf3mRZ7SHu0

According to Phineas and Ferb, there are 104 days of summer.  What a better way to spend the summer than challenging yourself to visit all 24 F3 RVA AOs.  Although procrastinators can wait as late as August 6 to start, it would be best to spread this challenge out over the entire summer.  Once you complete the tour, you will have done the following:

    • 14 bootcamps
    • 7 runs including a trail run and evening run
    • 2 Kettle Bell workouts
    • 1 bike ride

Don’t let not having a kettle bell or bike prevent you from participating in this challenge.  Borrow them if necessary.

The challenge starts starts on Saturday, May 26 and ends on Labor Day.
