Blackwell Elementary School

  • Sealed

Three PAX posted for a beatdown and came out looking like coal miners. The Thang:

Mosey to the new blacktop for a COP: SSHs, IWs, DQs, Merkins, LBCs IC.

Suicides on the blacktop with exercises: Flutter Kicks, Lieutenant Dans, Merkins.

Mosey to the playground for 11s with Partner-Assisted Pullups and WWIIs.

Two rounds of Crawl Bear uphill to a tree and Jump Squats x10.

Mosey to a picnic table for three rounds of: Dips x20, Derkins x10, Box Jumps x10.

Back to the playground for American Hammers x30, APDs x20.

    COT

    Prayers for THP residents.

NMS: The Q called LBCs early to embrace the wet conditions and the blacktop did not disappoint – it felt like a big puddle. During the suicides, YHC looked over to see that Joey Chesnut’s bright gold hoodie had turned black from the asphalt sealant. The PAX then realized they were all covered in it and it did not wash off easily. Maybe next time we’ll just go under cover and do some Mary. Or maybe not!

  • No Gnews is good Gnews with Gary Ganu!

Channel 12 news crew was there (as always) to record 4 men powering through, Bear crawls, mericans, LBCs, Jump squats Galore! Live grateful!

  • Return of the Farting BLIMPS

5 Eager Lads seized the day at The Crucible. Here’s what the guy YHC invited and the passing cars observed :

Warmarama : 20 SSH IC, 10 Don Q’s IC, 10 Cherry Pickers IC, 10 Imperial Walkers IC, 10 Ukrainian Soldiers IC

BLIMPS (5 Burpees, 10 Lunges DOUBLE COUNT, 15 Imperial Walkers DOUBLE COUNT, 20 Merkins, 25 Plank Jax, 30 Squats) on a Fartlek Run exploring parts unknown. We were able to get in 7 rounds of BLIMPS and traveled about 2.5 miles. YHC’s plans to buy the PAX coffee at Sisters Cafe at the ending destination of our run was foiled by the unannounced permanent closing of that establishment. So we ran BTTF instead and did 1 minute of Flutter Kicks, got in our cars and headed to Brewers for some 2nd F Coffeeteria.

Announcements : Tuesday 10k Turkey Trot at Spider Run (launch at whatever time you need to finish at 6:15 am) ; Happy Hour Tuesday at Hardywood West Creek 5 PM ; Thursday TYA’s Annual Thanksgiving Q at 45MOM ; Friday Forest Hill Loop Runs (see Slack)

Prayers for YHC’s brother and father who are not on a speaking terms anymore

NMMS : Really enjoyed the fellowship today brothers. Farting BLIMPS are always a good strategy to explore AO’s you’re not familiar with. Have a great weekend and Thanksgiving brothers!

All the best to the runners today including first-time marathoner Flintstone and 70+ miler Anthrax.

  • Pain ladder

6 Brochachos of F3RVA rolled into The Crucibke today. 3 had run a vigorous 5k beforehand and another ran all the way from Lakeside. YHC and Offshore just drove… ??‍♂️

We started with a pretty standard COP where the Q was on his soapbox about something inconsequential and got called out. it was funny.

Then we moseyed to the fields past the new basketball court thats being built and started on a suicide ladder with added exercises starting with 10, then 20, 30/40… it was too far and gruesome

next we did a football field sized 4 corners where the exercises compounded and you had to run back to the start each time – we even bear crawled a bit. mosey back to the flag for some Mary which was one single Don Q

    YHC took us out.

Impact stopped by while coaching a practice run for WeOffTheCouch and promised to come back soon and hopefully headlock some guys from Blackwell/Manchester

Please pray for Gypsy’s sister, Flintstones legal challenges and least of all Shakedown’s patience while teaching his son to drive

Beer mile was tonight – TYA’s forest hill loops coming black friday – see him or me for more details – flyer coming soon

good times were had by all – lots of sweat – see you in the gloom ??

  • Get a late pass..

Oops, forgot to do a Backblast in a timely manner and my phone is not cooperating so this will be short – we did some COP, we did a baseball diamond Beast, and then a modified Dora. It was awesome.

  • Kubota is always watching

A crew of 5 gathered for this weeks episode of The Crucible and this is what happened:

Mosey to the far side of the school for a COP with various exercises

Polar Bear Crawl. Start at the top of the hill and Bear Crawl from Parking Spot Parking Spot with a Merkin at each spot.

Partner Up – P1 Runs down the hill and back P2 does HRM’s, Round 2 with LBC’s, Round 3 does Flutters

Mosey down to the opposite side of the school and get in groups of 2. Group 1 starts at the Red Pole and do 10 Pole Smokers and move to the next Red Pole and the next group joins in. Work through all the poles.

Mosey over to the hill on the back side of the school. Run up the hill and do 5 Burpees. Wait for the six and run back down the hill. 30 Donkey Kicks OYO. Balls to the wall for the six and then for a 10 count. R2 top of the hill and 10 Burpees plus Donkey Kicks OYO and Balls to the Wall. Round 3 back to 5 Burpees.

Mosey over to the front of the school to the Picnic Tables and do Table Step Up’s. Both legs count for 1 and do a set of 20. Then 20 Hand Release Derkins.

Mosey back to the Flag and do 2 minutes of Mary.

Announcements – Hampton Roads Anniversary on November 5th.

Prayer Request – for the mean of the Healing Place

NMS – YHC is glad he got the text from Honeydo asking if YHC could take the Q at The Crucible. It was good to see the crew. YHC is proud the of leadership the Pax leaders took in starting the AO. It was great to with the Pax and Flinstone and No Regerts at the workout.

  • A Mobile Crucible Audible

Anthrax ran in from the pump house to help open The Crucible for business. PAX decided to add some extra miles today and took off to explore the southside. The route: AO to Route 1, Hull St, hang a right to the Slave Trail back up to the flood wall gate, along the river to Hull St., left on 13th, right on Stockton, left to Blackwell.

YHC thought about giving Anthrax a tour of 10k training runs in Manchester, but quickly realized that he knew the area much better. With about 0.1 miles left after the last turn onto Stockton, Anthrax said, “I have no idea where we are” – mission accomplished to get him lost!

PAX had a great conversation and enjoyed learning new routes. PAX agreed that the memo needs to get out: Bad Weather = Mandatory Attendance + The Best Memories.

  • A Day of Firsts

It was either the first road race, or the first of this distance for each of the PAX, but they turned in some monster performances. Some ran 16.19k and some ran 6.19 mi. Those who ran the 6.19 mi were hungry for more and several who ran the 16.29k wondered whether they could have pushed harder at the beginning… studs. Future FNG Jose torched the 10 mile course to place 18th overall (or was it 3rd?!).

The PAX were pumped about their running experience and appeared to have even more fun welcoming strangers along with the remaining PAX at the finish line. Several got to meet Djimon Hounsou. Rocket Man is on the IR, but posted to cheer on the PAX. He is anxious to rejoin the PAX. Impact was there with a huge #Weoffthecouch contingent and probably ran a 10k escorting each of his crew across the finish line, an effort worthy of a Big Data point.

  • Flash Mob at The Crucible

The parents and kids rolling in for football at Sydnor Playground were treated to the following pre-game show:

COP on the blacktop at Blackwell: SSHs, IWs, DQs, Merkins, LBCs, Helicopters. Mosey to the baseball field at Sydnor Playground for…

Baseball Beast. Start at home plate and in the grass behind first, second, and third base, perform 6 reps of an exercise, run home and reverso. Exercises were: HRMs, WWIIs, Jump Squats, Carolina Dry Docks, Lunges, Burpees. Mosey back to the blacktop for…

Playground pickup and American Hammers: pick up 5 pieces of trash and do 5 American Hammers. AMRAP until time.

COT: T&P for the BRR runners and for the men of THP.

NMS: Joey Chestnut kept his Crucible streak alive (was there any doubt he wouldn’t?). Bean put in great work in his return appearance.

YHC thought he overheard one of the parents express disappointment that she wasn’t notified of the flash dance/mob at the field before the game, referring to the PAX in the middle of their Baseball Beast. PAX invited her to join us.

Note to future Qs: parents and kids roll into Sydnor at 7:45 for games at 9am.

Many masks were lost on the playground during recess this week at Blackwell. `
