Huguenot High School

  • Mystery B and the Funky Bunch

The Mystery Box welcomed the dirtiest of dozens back to the Forge. The music spawned memories of middle school glory days and co-ed fitness classes. YHC was merely there to assist. Here is a brief summary for your viewing pleasure:

Mosey towards the elementary school – 5 WWII sit-ups at each lightpole.

Brief Warm-up: Russian Soldiers, Arm Circles, Helicopters, Cherry Pickers, Hip Flexor Stretches.

Mosey to the lower parking lot for the Mystery Box:

One man draws an exercise out of the box, then totes the medicine ball up to Forest Hill Avenue and back. The rest of the PAX does that exercise for the duration.

To the best of my memory we completed the following:

Burpees, Hand Release Merkins, Incline Merkins, American Hammers, Groiners, Jumping Herpees, Crab Walk, Crawl Bear, Lunges, Jump Squats, Carolina Dry Docks, Sprints w/10 second rest, Lt. Dans, Mountain Climbers, Side Straddle Hops.

Mosey back to the flag for numbers/names/announcements.

    YHC took us out

Final thoughts: The Mystery Box was dishing out some serious punishment today. Appreciate all who posted on this chilly day! As you can imagine with our list of participants, there was some wild mumble chatter and hilarious hijinks involved. Really enjoyed facilitating and getting my 2.0 involved.

  • Thanksgiving Favorites

YHC rose early this morning to go south of the River to Forge and it was a beautiful cool 45 degree start for this boot camp workout and here is what went down for 7 F3 brothers:

    COP

We mosey down to the Cul de Sac at the end of the West Service road and formed a circle. 20 SSH, 10 good mornings (4 count), 10 DQ’s, 20 Helicopters, 15 arm circles (10 small 5 big) Reverso, 20 4ct American Hammers, 10 4 ct LBC’s, 10 scorpions and 20 merkins.

    THANG

We divide into groups of 3 and 4 for a triple check. (The 4 man group has 2 guys doing the same exercise together in the rotation). Partner 1(P1) runs to the 3rd light post and back as the timer, P2 LBC’s and P3 lunges. We rotate though all three exercised for a triple check.

Next we do a light pole inspection bro code, where we do a walking lunge from light pole 1 to 2, mosey 2-3, lunge 3-4, mosey 4-5, lunge 5-6, mosey 6-7, lunge 7-8, Bernie Saunders 8-9, lunge 9-10 and Bernie sSaunders 10-11. There is a bunch of mumblechatter in this session with YHC starting the convo of what is your favorite thing to eat for Thanksgiving, we had many say everything! We also found out that Doozy has enough boxed stuffing to last for a couple more holidays!

We then mosey to the East end of the school where there is a small hill and we do 11’s start with 10 merkins at the top, run to the bottom 1 LBC, (personal choice to run, Bernie Saunders or Karaoke (left or right)) up the hill to 9 merkins at rinse – repeat until there is 1 merkin at the top with 10 LBC’s at the bottom. Fast gents Al Gore for the 6.

We mosey to Concrete wall for and 11 repeat with 10 dips at curb in road mosey to wall for 1 donkey kick and rinse repeat to 4 minutes left and had to cut short to mosey to the flag. We arrive for a small ring of fire, with 5 merkins, 5 hand release merkins, 5 Carolina dry docks, 5 dive bomber merkins and 5 burpees and stopped as we were at 45 minutes.

Numberama, Namerama…YHC had the gang form a man ball and took the PAX out in prayer.

    Moleskin

It was great to see some PAX brothers that YHC has not seen in a while. A sort of mini reunion for some and it was fun to catch up. Let’s continue to be the bright light for our friends and families. Look for ways to show appreciation to the hard worker’s out there. Have a great rest of the week gents, it was an honor to lead this morning!

    Cheers….CB

  • The F3RVA Baby Daddy Handbook

The notoriously flamboyant Book Club de Forge assembled around steaming pumpkin spice lattes to chitchat about all sorts of juicy topics. Somewhere between marathon testimonials and swaddling techniques, the PAX knocked out a ridiculous series of exercises.

Moving in serpentine fashion from the top parking lot to the bottom, there were about 56 brief COP’s with variable movement/mosey between, with a few highlights such as:

Ye old “inchworm leap” about 40 yards, which looked like half an Opus (Handwalk to Merkin) then a Groiner then hop up with a Broad Jump clap. There is no actual name for this gem, except to say it’s a lovely way to warm up.

A series of brick wall madness that included:

    • People’s Chair “We’re not worthy” reps in cadence (alternate slapping ankles with wall above head)
    • Donkey Kick-off’s (increasing by 5 DK’s ea set, with a 5 sec rest of feet on wall between sets …went up to 20)
    • Hip Slappers (BTTW with alternating hip slaps IC)

A few sets of partnered PLT’s (…it’s been too long and YHC’s quivering efforts towards the end showed it.)

DORA at the bottom with x100 WWII’s, x200 Dips, and x300 SSH. The moving guy knocks out a Tooth Fairy loop… which after dips almost became a reality.

Mosey BTTF with a special stop for carousel planking up the hill – this time on the right side of the road to unwind that one-sided misery Chaplain imposed recently.

NMS:  Mild temps, high spirits, and the joyful returns of post-Marathon Draper and our newest father Fresh Prince – need YHC say more? Well, it was an exemplary experience as always, in spite of YHC’s ridiculous unplanned beatdown. The PAX stacked some daddy wisdom on Fresh Prince after COT, and it was clear we’re primed to converge on an F3 Daddy book. Thanks for letting me lead brothers!!! YHC, DTH

  • Thursday Morning Lights

A trio of trios rose from the fart sack to seize the day and ascend onto Huguenot High School to engage in a beatdown of mythical proportions. Here is what was rumored to have occured:

Mosey down the hill to turn around for warmarama. Exercises included invisible jump rope, helicopters, dead man hang, leg pulls and LBC’s.

THE THANG: Triple Check with scissor sisters doing ab work while timer ran to stop sign to perform 3 burpees and return. Rinse and repeat.

11’s back up the hill with WWII’s and Merkins

On the rail for Leapfrog jerkins. PAX hangs from rail while last member performs 5 jerkins and runs to the front. Rinse and repeat to the top.

Coupon Circle. Exercises included curls, chest press, squat thrusts and swings with coupons; dips and LBC’s without. Timer runs the bus loop. Completed 1+ round.

Mosey back to the flag for final ab work including APD, Freddies and Canoe hold.

Numbers, Names, Announcements. YHC took us out.

NMS. Beautiful sunrise this morning over the Forge this morning. Lights at the stadium were unexpectedly glowing this morning. YHC looked for access to the field but could not find an open gate. DTH expressed interest in the 20′ drop off the retaining wall. You vs. You. Good mumble chatter throughout included disappointing films and nostalgic 80’s cover bands. Good to see Bone Thugs back out.

Thank you to all the Veterans out there including Bone Thugs and Doozy.

  • The Wrong Question

6 men, all hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings, arrived on a cold morning in November to learn the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything from the supercomputer called ‘The Forge,’ specially built for this purpose. The answer? 42.

42 side straddle hops, then Don Quixotes on your own as YHC recounted one of his favorite stories from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

A modified birthday beast was concocted: 6 times 7 reps up and down Mt Chaplain. 6 times 7 mirkins, jump squats, WW2s, lunges (with an intermission of 42 jerkins on the lower rail), box cutters, and burpees.

Slow mosey to the upper school loop for a triple check: running, dips and calf raises.

Mosey back to the flag for 42 heels to heaven. Then a minute of slow breaths.

Prayer requests for healing for all those on IR, for my close friend dealing with a difficult illness, and especially for Fresh Prince who we all know will be a great father.

Thank you for another year around the sun and I offer a deep gratitude for this group who always shows up and always pushes me to be a better human being. Peace.

  • Mon Nom Souffre

7 Strong converged at Huguenot High to hammer each other into shape and enjoy some Forge style fellowship. YHC had the honor of leading this fine group of Southside stalwarts. Here is a brief summary for your viewing pleasure:

Massacre Start – Murder Gorillas along the length of the upper hill.

Warm ups: Walking Russian Soldiers, Walking Helicopters, Walking Arm Circles, Hopping Hillbillies, Lunge walks.

Mosey to the bottom of the big hill for Exercise One:

Incline curb crawl to the upper parking lot.
Down the hill – WWII Crawl Bears.

To the Top of Mt. Chaplain for Exercise Two:
On the descent, perform exercises at the 4 parking lots: 25 Squats, 50 Monkey Humpers, 75 Squats, 100 Monkey Humpers. Run back to the top.

Mosey to the side of the school for Exercise Three:
Triple Check: Dips, Hand Clap Incline Merkins (cant remember the proper name), crab walk to the fence and run back. It was good working with Tobit and Singer on this one!

    Exercise 4: Victory Hill x 7

Back to the flag for Numbers/Names/Announcements

    YHC took us out.

Final thoughts: Strong work by all of the PAX today. With the murder gorillas and curb crawl, we thoroughly worked the right side of our bodies. Will try to hit the left side during my next Q. Not sure why we were talking about speaking French, but apparently Snuff is semi-fluent; and this has been highly advantageous in life. Props to Doublemint who was hot-steppin’ with a weighted vest as he recovers from injury.

We had a good discussion about reaching out to PAX who have not posted in awhile.

  • Sans Legs for the Prince

The Forge was blessed with 2 HIM’s on IR fighting off the Fartsack to be with their brothers. Doublemint’s hernia surgery went well and he spent the time walking the perimeter listening to a podcast on how to remove hickies, while YHC created a routine for the day that would keep Fresh Prince from any sprints, jumps, or lunges… ie, a massive amount of arms and core. Here’s why the PAX wont be reaching anything overhead today:

    The THANG:

    COP #1:

    • Rapid Fire Slaughter Start with a KNOLL LADDER before Fresh Prince’s predicable 0538 arrival:  Up and down the knoll, each time adding a burpee at the top until you get from 1 to 5, then descend the ladder back to 1.
    • Total of 9x Up&Down with Leg work completed just as Prince arrived

    COP #2:

    • Mosey down to the culdesac, stopping at each light pole to alternate x10 Merkins with x10 Heels to Heaven
    • Circle up for variable DTH-style IC reps to fully stretch out the frame

    COP #3:

    • Partner up for CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
    • P1 begins bear crawling while P2 completes x20 2-ct Hallelujah Flutters, after which P2 mosey’s to switch with P1
    • Complete x3 rounds of flutters each
    • Mosey to the Handicap rails

    COP #4:

    • INDIGENOUS JERKINS up the ramp
    • PAX line up every other space, hanging jerkin style from the rail (keeping back & core straight)
    • Last man completes x5 Jerkins, mosey’s to the front
    • Painful ascent bottom to top of ramp

    COP #5:

    • TRICEP TRIPLE CHECK:
    • P1 – Dips on the rail
    • P2 – Merkins
    • P3 – Crabs across lot, mosey back

    COP #6:

    • Mosey over to the steps
    • Am.Ham’s OYO at the bottom of the steps, then 2 by 2 the PAX Tooth Fairies the steps, and continues Am.Ham’s at the top for the Six
    • Circle up for variable Mary reps IC

    Mosey BTTF for COT:

    • Counterama # 9
    • Namerama
    • Announcerama (see Comments)
    • FRESH PRINCE took the PAX out in Prayer

NMS:  Brothers, we are stronger together. YHC believes every effort to encourage and accommodate our brothers, no matter the injury or ailment, is worth the cost. What a pleasure to have Doublemint and Fresh Prince feel comfortable and encouraged enough to post! For those wondering, Doublemint shared he has an alumni reunion this weekend, and was wondering how hickies and being hungover would appear at his premarital counseling on Sunday. Haha. Anyway, some powerful sharing and sage wisdom happened in COT about marriage, and God knows, we’ve all had struggles. YHC encourages you all, lean into your brothers – there is power in coming together to shine light into the darkness. Love you guys, DTH

  • Refractory Period

Eight SOJ stalwarts rolled up to the Forge locked and loaded, and here’s how it went down:

    Warmarama: Mosey to the front traffic loop for SSH x 20, DQ x 10, Russian Soldiers x 15, Freddy Mercuries x 20, APDs x 15, Hello Dollies x 20, Carolina Dry Docks x 10.

    The THANG:

    1. Mosey to amphitheater for 11s (1x Imperial Squat Walker, bear crawl across the grass to the steps, 10 x dips, lunge back, repeato)
    2. Mosey to the loading dock for a Triple Check (Pax 1: run to first light pole and back, PAX 2: donkey kicks, PAX 3: heels to heaven)
    3. IPR (plain vanilla; i.e. no burpees, diamond merkins or eight count bunny thrusters) up to Forest Hill Ave
    4. Mosey to Elkhart MS covered entrance for a Dora (Pace Car: run the loop, Exercises: 100 x merkins, 200 x s.c. American Hammers, 300 x s.c. mountain climbers)

BTTF for some Old Man Stretching

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

NMMS: YHC may have brought the exercises, but Flatty brought the mumblechatter this morning and it was strong, both in terms of breadth of topics and volume. Upshot is it only takes Lamar Jackson 15:00 + OT to mount a comeback, but for middle-aged pax, “it takes a day to reload.” YHC is hoping for a speedy recovery from tomorrow’s hernia repair — no coupons for a while 😉

Make it a great one, and SYITG soon I hope!!

    Doublemint

  • Stanky Legs

An SOJ squadron emerged from the mirky gloom to plant the flag of victory on a new day’s inception. Here’s why we’re all walking a little funny today…

    COP #2:

    • Bernie back up to the Handicap Rails, stopping for three high quality squats at each light
    • Over/Unders on the Hadicap Rail x20

    COP #2:

    • TEAM DORA at the Shoulder Gym
    • Teams of 3 or 4 rotate exercises

NMS:  Don’t know about ya’ll but that Amphitheater COP got me doing the stanky leg trying to walk around today. Appreciate the quality time and mumble chatter. Love and thanks, DTH

  • FRB

Six Chiseled SOJ Stallions ascended on the Forge to see what YHC had in store this sunny and 70 degree morning. This is what was rumored to have occured.

Announcements: Prayers for DTH with the untimely passing of his friend. Non F3 Beer Mile event being organized by Faceplant in honor of a friend, see slack for details. Blood Drive being organized by Pigskin coming up. See slack.

NMS: With Doozy, Prince and Flange, it was easy to see the difference between the Front Runners (FRB) and the not so much (sorry boys but there are no points for finishing early). Good comradery this morning as mumble chatter was ongoing and encouraged. Topics included various sports and the upcoming arrival of Young Prince in a few weeks. Thank you brothers for letting me lead and encouraging me to continue the fight. You guys are awesome.
