Huguenot High School

  • What’s in a name?

So two gathered for a slightly chilly but not snowing beat down and this is what happened

5:28 and YHC was thinking this was going to be a solo workout but with seconds to spare Snuff came riding up to the rescue.

Mosey to DTH’s favorite stating point for a COP at the bottom of the hill

DQ’s, Helicopters, Cherry Pickers, Imperial walkers, Copperhead Squats, Snake Bite and Man killers

Mosey 15 feet to the first light pole Run the light poles increasing burpees at each pole for ten poles

mosey to front of school for a double check

partner 1 American Hammers, partner 2 run the islands repeat with different exercises X3, Sugar Sticks, Rosalitas.

Mosey to the back of the school to the student sitting area for 11’s

Box jump up 10 LBC’s at the top, box jump down 1 plank jacks at the bottom

Mosey back to the front find 10 parking spaces for parking lot merkins

Bear crawl and merkins up to ten Crab walk and American hammers down by two’s to twenty

Back to the flag number / names YHC took us out

NMS: At 5:28 this morning YHC was wondering how he would do this beat down if nobody else showed up. Snuff came to my rescue without a minute to spare. Mid workout YHC asked Snuff how he got the name (YHC assuming it had something to do with tobacco) and was caught off guard by the fact that he is a video editor. Once Snuff assured me that he is not part of the porn industry, YHC was able to regroup and move on.

  • Studs Up

4 Battle Hardened SOJ studs kept The Forge burning on a perfect 70 and sunny morning. YHC felt the urge to perfect his leadership skills by signing up for the Q. Wedding Singer arrived early to crush a preworkout miler.

The remainder of the PAX moseyed for a triple hill buy in with bear crawls up and crab walks down to get the blood pumpin.

COP 1 – SSH, DQ, Helis, Cherry Pickers, Merkins, LBC, Flutters – PAX warm – lets mosey to the soccer field

COP 2 – Four Corners Ladder – 1st corner: 10 merkins, 2nd corner: 20 Hammers – American Style, 3rd corner – 2x mountain climbers, 4th corner – 40 jump squats. Legs burning at this point so lets mosey onto the amphitheater

COP 3 – Amphitheater DORA – 100 Donkey Kicks, 200 Jump Squats (cause 40 just wasn’t enough), 300 LBC’s. P-Trap and Singer made the smart choice and picked the nice flat wall for the DK’s. Snuff crushed the DK’s to help pick up YHC slack

Mosey BTTF with a twist. Stop off at each light pole with 2 burpee/2 jump squat switch a rama.

No Announcements. YHC took us out.

Pleasure leading you gents this morning. Truly Herculean effort by all especially Singer with the dedication to do the pre workout mile run. Good to see P-Trap join us at the Forge. Snuff crushing it on the corners and DORA. Look forward to seeing you on the Q sheet soon.

Be safe out there boys. Keep chuggin.

  • Mile Sandwich

Three men and a 2.0 joined up at The Forge to exercise by lawful right of essential activities.

Workout: Disclaimer -> run to DTH warmup turnaround, back up around bottom two parking lots to point of beginning which is exactly one mile.

Warm up – SSH, don Q, russian soldiers, imperial walkers, mountain climbers, seal jacks

Prison cell AMRAPS – find a parking spot away from others (physical distancing). Merkin walk around cell one direction for one minute. Next exercises in same direction – lunges, bear crawls, March sadness slides. Reverse directions with same 4 exercises.

Move to grass – AMRAP abs – WWII, LBC, Flutter, plank

    One mile run to finish.

Moleskin – YHC awoke at 3:00 AM with anxiety of Qing and putting together a 45 minute workout while maintaining distance and a bad back. A blank Q sheet at 5:00 AM came a calling. Running and prison cells seemed to make the most sense. Way to go Merlin, crushing us old folks dreams of winning a race. Keep up the good work Last Call and Snuff, good seeing you guys out each week.

  • Blackjack

When the fog cleared, four southside regulars appeared from their vehicles to run around various parking lots at the school. The theme – 21, or 19, or 11.

Thang: Mosey to far school parking lot – warm up with SSH, Don Q, squats, mountain climbers, LBCs.

21s, or Covid-19s – start in parking lot circle near light, run one loop, perform one merkin, run second loop, perform two merkins, repeat up to 21.

Mosey to rear school big steps. 11s – run up steps, one WWII situp, run down, 2 situps, repeat up to 11.

    11s – dips and Freddies

JITFO long way back to flag

    Moleskin:

Thanks for showing up, YHC thought it may be a solo gig without a Q on the schedule at 5:00 AM. Social distancing was ever present. Numbers are dwindling but YHC is hopeful F3 will remain in effect with small numbers and mindful Q approaches.

21s were brutal and monotonous. Thanks to P Trap for taking the lead and finishing up first for the PAX. No this isn’t YHC’s 21st birthday Last Call, but YHC appreciates the gesture.

    Stay safe ya’ll.

    -Singer

  • The Forge stays lit

2 heavily sterilized, social distance warriors broke free from the confines of home to enjoy another epic beatdown at The Forge. With plenty of elbow room and no one on the Q sheet, the possibilities were endless. Here’s how it all went down:

    Mosey to the lower circle

    COP

Snuff  facilitated the warm-up.  As best as I can remember we did Side Straddle Hops, Don Quixote’s, Arm Circles, WWII sit ups, American Hammers, Merkins, Lunge around the circle. I am probably missing a couple.

    The Thang:

Hot potato passed to YHC. Mosey to the bottom of the hill.  Partner one runs up to the first parking sign and back. Other partner: flutter kicks. Snuff recommended 2 burpees at the top of each hill. Rd 2 – run to second sign, partner does LBC’s. Rd 3: WWII sit ups and furthest sign .

Pt. 2, Snuff decided on  Bear crawling in between each light around the large traffic circle. At the various lights we completed the following (10 count): Box Cutters, Lt. Dan’s, Copperhead squats, Rosalita’s, Mt. Climbers, Jerkins, one other.

Mosey back to the amphitheater. Chaplain recommends Partnering up: Combine for 100 Incline Merkins, 200 SSH’s, and 300 flutter kicks. Partner box jumps up the amphitheater,  10 dips on the picnic table, then runs back around the perimeter.

    Mosey back to the flag.

Prayers for everyone in the group. Hoping we can support one another, and our community, through these challenging times.

It was a great to have Snuff co-Qing this morning. He has been killing it since joining the group not too long ago.

  • Breezy as Hell

At 5:30 am we fired up The Forge, elevating the temperature at Huguenot High School to 70 degrees. 4 malleable men emerged from the gloom, hoping to get hammered – or something along those lines. Here’s how it all went down.

    Mosey down to the circle

    COP
My son Jake was very interested in this workout. He had a lot of wild ideas, and specifically recommended a football style warm up, so we gave it a shot.

Form a line and complete the following: rotating squat walk, deep lunge walk, power skips, karoaoke (x 2), walking leg pulls. I don’t know any of these are in the Exicon, but it seemed to do the job.

Flange and Fresh Prince rolled in just in time.

    Exercise 1: Route 66
Complete 1 incline merkin at the first light, increased by one at each light. I believe there were ten lights

    Exercise 2: Mount Chaplain

From the base, bear crawl up each hill.
First parking lot – Burpee Dans (burpee plus 4 count lunge walks) across.
2nd parking lot – Broad jump burpee across.
    3rd – Burpee Dans
4th – Broad jump burpees, then up to the summit.

On the descent: crab walk down and repeat the same pattern with the burpees.

    Exercise 3:

Rotate through a circuit of 20 jerkins, 20 dips, 20 chicken peckers. We completed 4 rounds.

    Exercise 3: Hillicides

partner up – one person does a suicide style run up the hill, breaking it into 3 sections, up and back. other partner does LBC’s for the duration. rotate
Second round: repeat with Alabama Prom Dates
Third round – repeat with Flutter Kicks.

    Mosey back to the flag

    Counterama, Namearama

Announcements: Discussed possible dates of the next Puppy Pile.
Support our members heading out in the mission field.

Flange took us out in prayer.

Excellent work by the PAX today.  The light rain made for a nice backdrop. We had some amazing individual efforts. Fresh Prince’s broad jump appeared to be double that of YHC. Posh was a beast on the Jerkins. Flange was smoking the hillicide run portion.  The highlight was definitely the random dude walking his dog as Flange and I were doing Alabama Prom Dates. Think he might adjust his route moving forward.

It was an honor to lead!

  • I Smell Bacon….

Seven gloom warriors pick-and-rolled their fartsacks and posted at the Forge, wondering what YHC would serve up for breakfast on this drizzly morning. How about a warm plate of The Nolan Richardson? Here’s how it tasted:

COP [prescribed in routine] – 20 Don Quixotes, 20 American Hammers

    mosey to lower roundabout

Thang 1 [The Nolan Richardson] – pair up; PAX 1 Bernie Sanders 50 yards, completes a Bobby Hurley [squat and slap ground, then jump and shoot a phantom 3], and runs back; PAX 2 completing exercise of the round; switch and repeat until all prescribed reps are done:

150 burpees, 300 squats, 150 WWIIs, 300 Little Baby Arm Circles, 150 merkins, 300 Imperial Walkers

mosey to middle parking lot for

Thang 2 [Ascending Bear Crawls] – line up in a parking spot, bear crawl to opposite curb and complete 1 derkin. Bear crawl back and complete 2 derkins. Rinse and repeat to 6 rounds due to time constraints [exicon prescribes 13 rounds].

Mosey to flag, a/k/a the mountain bike DTH borrowed from Flange, for

COT – numberama, nameorama, YHC took us out.

NMMS: This one is also called “40 Minutes of Hell,” so named for the playing style Coach Richardson employed at Arkansas — the PAX crushed it in like 30, so YHC dug into the bag of tricks for Thang 2. There’s much to learn from what Coach Richardson accomplished and endured at Arkansas — he pushed boundaries, pushed buttons, and he pushed his kids to become the best versions of themselves. Way to push yourselves and each other this morning, gents.
