Virtual AO. See Slack for details.

  • Nothing Virtual about This Dawg

The 2.0 and dog obliged YHC for something like a Murph with a few modifications. Strong work was put forward by the PAX.

Announcements: This will be the last VR Dawg (and the last F3 virtual beatdown) for now. If anyone has another F3 use for the Zoom account, feel free to ping YHC.

3rd F will continue on Zoom. The next one is Tuesday June 23rd at 8pm. Honeydo with the Q.

  • Triple Red Hot 7s of a Different Sort

Don Draper logged in to prevent YHC’s crawl back to the fartsack for a beatdown that went something like this:

    COP: SSHs, IWs, DQs IC

Optimus Prime: 7 sets of 7 reps of 7 exercises, with 20 Mountain Climbers on the side of each set to simulate running. Exercises: Diamond Merkins, Pickle Pounders, Touch Knees, WWIIs, Jump Squats, J Los, Burpees

    American Hammers IC

    COT

Announcements: HDHH tonight, 3rd F next Tuesday at 8pm, Tron next Monday at 5:30am, VR Dawg next Wednesday at 5:30am.

NMS: YHC wanted to try a virtual Beast, but rather than just slay the Beast, PAX went beyond towards perfection with an additional set, rep, and exercise.

It was great to have Don Draper back out in the virtual gloom. PAX agreed that intentional moving around is essential to maintain health while working remotely.

F3 Quiz of the Day: What two PAX members’ first and last names differ by only a single letter?

    Answer: Don Draper and Doublemint

  • Boberry’s Lucky Day

Two regulars posted for a Zoom gloom beatdown that went something like this:

1-minute mosey to the COP: SSHs, Merkins, Storm Squats, Scorpion Dry Docks, WWIIs, Lunges. You know what’s coming.

Lucky Horseshoe. One-minute run before each set of exercises, with 20 reps for each exercise:

    1. Merkins
    2. Merkins, Storm Squats
    3. Merkins, Storm Squats, Scorpion Dry Docks
    4. Merkins, Storm Squats, Scorpion Dry Docks, WWIIs
    5. Merkins, Storm Squats, Scorpion Dry Docks, WWIIs, Lunges
    6. Storm Squats, Scorpion Dry Docks, WWIIs, Lunges
    7. Scorpion Dry Docks, WWIIs, Lunges
    8. WWIIs, Lunges
    9. Lunges
    10. Victory Lap

PAX were probably on about lap 8 when the 33 minute buzzer went off, but completed the 9th round before 6:15.

    COT

Announcements: HDHH on Zoom today at 6pm. Meeting ID: 822 7005 7337. PM for password or get the direct link on Slack. Tron next Monday at 5:30am, VRDawg next Wednesday at 5:30am, next 3rd F (needs a name!) June 9th at 8pm.

NMS: YHC borrowed Boberry’s Powerpoint innovation to help keep track of Lucky Horseshoe laps. Well, YHC’s picture of a Powerpoint slide, anyway.

Storm Squats were performed two-count. Scorpion Dry Docks were 10 single count each leg. Hopefully we can check in with Loose Goose to see if that is the proper accounting. YHC was probably not running a 4-minute mile pace on the 1-minute mosey, so comparisons to “official” Lucky Horseshoes are probably not possible, but this seemed to be a good beatdown to get the sweat flowing.

PAX agreed Kubota did a great job leading the 3rd F last night. As was mentioned then, PAX agreed that they are grateful for the culture of respect and encouragement that F3 RVA has maintained during the pandemic.

NMS: Tclaps to Snitch for his second post in a week. Keep up the good work!

Snitch got his shoe stuck on the round 1 mosey of the Triple Check and was rescued by Boberry. We audibled to complete the exercises as a PAX. YHC took a spill on the deck during the first mosey to the COP. We may need to amend the disclaimer…

    SYITG!

  • What are my Neighbors Thinking?

Eight men did not have to worry about the traffic on 95 this morning as they awake, likely stepped outside, took out their phones, tablets, or computers, and logged into another Zoom episode of VR-Dog. This was YHC’s first attempt at a virtual Q. This is his recollection of what occurred.

One minute mosey somewhere in close to your house.

    • Tabata #2 – Alternate between V-Ups and Foot-to-Hand Mountain Climbers – 4 rounds of each.
    • Tabata #3 – Start with Wide Grip Merkins. For each round, make them more narrow. The 4th round is close grip merkins. For Round 5, go back to Wide and reduce until close on round 8. (Likely around 160 Merkins)
    • Tabata #4 – Alternate between SSHs and Burpees – 4 rounds of each. (Likely around 20 Burpees)
    • Tabata #5 – Side Plank moving hip up and down, one legged APDs, Other side Plan, other leg for APDs. – Had to cut this to 6 rounds.

Number-O-Rama, Name-O-Rama, Announcements, YHC took us out.

    NMS

Yesterday, YHC asked Offshore if he could take today’s Q. Knowing he wanted to do Tabata, YHC figured out that Fitbit has an online Tabata tracker with sound. What was discovered during the bootcamp was that the Tabata tracker’s sound did not work well or at all when shared through Zoom. Still, it changes colors between red, green, and yellow what worked well.

Another observation from YHC was how much noise you make as Q during the Virtual COP. YHC is just happy there was no complaining from the neighbors. If they can see me, I’m sure their wondering why YHC is counting out loud to nobody.

Thank you Offshore and Boberry for taking the lead in setting up another F3 option during the lockdown. This has been awesome.

For the Daville Merkin challenge, there were around 270 Merkins and 75 Burpees for a total of 345. (This number depended on how many merkins and burpees were completed during Tabata but its likely close.)

    Announcements

    • Tomorrow is Corned Beef’s one year F3 Anniversary. His planned takeover week will take place later in the summer after the lockdown.
    • Happy Hour on Zoom at 6 pm tonight. See Offshore’s preblast.
    • Davillians will have a Memorial Day bootcamp at Hanover Wayside Park where there is the Hanover Veterans memorial. Our plan is to return to the Brown’s Island Memorial Day convergence next year once we can gather in larger numbers again.

It was an hour to lead the Virtual Bootcamp today. Stay Safe everybody!

    Gotta Run,

    Phonics

  • Back to the Basics?

Seven warriors who care a little bit less about what the neighbors think posted to their backyards for a virtual beatdown, and another hopped in the shower to prepare for the COT.

The Thang: Mosey around the house/property and circle up for COP IC: 20 SSHs, 1 OUAPD (online upright APD), 10 DQs, 20 IWs, 10 Merkins, 20 LBCs.

Four corners. From the most public corner of your yard to the most private, 10 Merkins, 20 WWIs, 30 Squats, 40 MHs.

Partner up for a Dora. Each PAX does exactly 1/2 of the reps. Alternate with partner to run a lap around the house. 100 Merkins, 200 LBCs, 300 Squats.

Traveling Lindsay around the back yard. Freddie Mercuries and Broad Jumps.

Triple Check. One PAX does Step Ups, one PAX does WWIIs, one PAX runs a lap.

    Upchuck joined us for COT.

    Announcements

Zoom happy hour at 6pm. Password is on Slack, or message Shakedown or YHC: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/995173694?pwd=YndqVUNwWnU0a0EycXhzODVuRFJIZz09

Prayers for Doublemint, Honeymoon, Marmaduke, Shakedown, Upchuck’s friend.

NMS: YHC wanted to keep things real simple, and did some research. First, posted with BoBerry with South Wake, where YHC kept getting disconnected during AMRAPs (this seems like a long set!). Some preparation is needed – see the pre blast.

Then YHC looked in the archives back to seemingly simpler times for inspiration. According to this BB, https://backblasts.f3rva.org/2015/04/28/merkinfest-2015-2/, there were 25 Don Quixotes performed – YHC believes Wilson could fill 45 minutes with 25! In this BB, https://backblasts.f3rva.org/2015/01/01/f3richmond-brings-in-2015-at-45mom/ TYA and Jville Q’d a Triple Check with a “repeat x4” – WTF3?! According to the same BB, there were 24 Wilson’s Wifes performed, defined as a “partner inverted military press”. So YHC went back to his fuzzy recollection of beatdowns past to conjure things we could do without thinking or seeing (as if in the gloom) – a classic COP, 4 Corners, Dora, Triple Check.

YHC asked PAX to check in after completing each exercise which seemed to work well. The Dora and Triple Check went pretty smoothly, though with more PAX may have been challenging to coordinate.

What caught YHC off guard were the disclaimer and COP. Cadence is very awkward due to a delay in the audio. YHC would hear the PAX when it was time to start the next rep, so would delay. PAX advised carrying on instead of waiting, so YHC would call “1” while hearing the PAX give the count. Perhaps we can consult with Lockjaw for best practices here.

Still hoping this is temporary, PAX worked on a name for this new AO. Candidate names were, “Wish I Had Picked Up the Dog’s Poop Last Night”, “Smell Like Your Own Dog’s Pee”, and “Splinter’s Shoe”. Sticking with the dog theme, and for memories of WDog, the PAX settled on “VR, Dawg”.

Upchuck joined us for the COT.
