Pocahontas Middle School

  • WTH Convergence….at least it felt that way

After a hot potato of whose turn it was to Q, YHL took the lead and we headed west. Stop off at Wells Fargo lot for warm up. 15 side straddle hop, 15 Ukrainian soldiers, 10 Dan ques, 10 Merkins, 20 LBC‘s, recover and back headed west towards the retirement community. Stop off at vacant office parking lot for a triple check: pacer to the third light pole with Merkins and WW2s as the exercises. Once completed, get moving west again. We make it to the retirement home and We do another triple check with pacer running around the carport, the other two exercises of reverse crunches and squats. Once completed time to head east back to the flag. Stop off at our office parking lot: 10 quick Burpee’s(lighthouse and whitesnake love them), head back to the flag. Pulled up a little bit after time but got 3.5 miles of run in and a good bit of exercise. The pack seem seemed happy that they got their moneys worth this morning. Nice to have a large group with us on our Wednesday workout today. Several prayer concerns lifted up, homegrown half and 10 K coming up August 16.. reach out to somebody who may need to hear a friendly voice that you haven’t seen in a while. Thanks for letting me lead

  • Just another brick in the village

Seven supreme athletes not named Brick went to West Broad Village in search of brick.

We ran to the entrance off Three Chopt and did some warmups and then went exploring for brick intersections, many with circles in the middle. There were ten. We celebrated 5 of them with 10 burpees each, 1 with 20 monkey humpers, 1 with 25 WWII, 1 with 20 two count flutters, 1 with 20 jump squats and 1 with 20 HRM. The Pax were not as impressed as I was with the beauty of these intersections. I will need to take them back there again.

After that fun we ran north to Broad street and took the nice path in front of Trader Joes. We then went South on John Rolfe and took the path to Short Pump Park. Ran to end of the path, took a nice whiff of dog piss and shit and then turned back. Headed to the flag for roughly 3 miles total.

We found lots of brick but no Brick. But it did get me to text him when I got home.

Hope to see you. Yes you, at the Bridge on Saturday. Reach out to me for a ride!

  • hot summer fun, 4 corner style

Take an extra loop with the parking lot to hit or 3 miles finish with 20 more Merkins. Hot humid morning, good mumble chattering conversation. Prayers for the family in Texas lost children others in the floods are welcome reminder to be grateful for the trivial things we worry about the stresses in our life, there are far greater losses and challenges that people endure each and every day. Peace and grace to those that need physical healing and emotional support. Always an honor to lead

  • Short Pump Orbital

7 warriors braved the morning dew and embarked on a 3.7 mile journey which took us through the enchanted forest to soak city and the short pump orbital. The temperature was 70 and sunny and it went something like this-

  • Hot and Humid

Seven showed up on a hot and humid morning for a mix of bootcamp and running. We set off on a cul-de-sac tour, stopping along the way. After a warm-up, we started with 20 two-count Pickle Pounders and 20 two-count LBCs at each stop. After about five rounds, we switched things up with 20 Merkins and 20 two-count LBCs. The heat and humidity did us no favors, but everyone pushed through. Big shoutout to Professor X for digging deep—strong work, brother!

  • Double Late Fees

Another WTF Q from the Spring and another fine. After a stop at the Roger Roger cement pad warmup area off John Rolfe, Roger Roger took us to West Broad Village again for an assortment of exercises. Don’t remember much else. Is the fine bigger if you are the site Q? Yes, says the Upchuck book of rules. 40 burpees owed.

  • Late Fees

Roger Roger had his chance to post this but soon after his Q was in surgery and recovery. This workout was a giant 4 corners in WB Village. I don’t recall the four exercises so will pretend it was 1000 burpees, 800 WW2s, 1200 Merkins and 1 flutter kick. I do remember we did it twice. Guessed who was there–if missing or you should not get credit, let me know.

Late fee is ten burpees per backblast.

  • Better late than never, maybe??

Apparently the Q was tired and slept for a long time while the Alarm was sounding. After a 100 MPH drive to the AO I arrived only five minutes late. The challenge with a running boot camp is which way did they go. We vary every week but fortunately I picked the right direction and found some clues on my way to catch the pax. Mosey to westbroad village lake gazebo  circle up 10 merkins, 10 LBCs, a few other things I missed probably. Q hand off to Pinto from Lighthouse…Mosey to Golf Galaxy for 5 burpees(punishment for me being Tardy), 20 SSH’s, 20 LBCs. Mosey to Diamonds direct 5 burpees, 20 merkins, 20 WW2s. After that head over to ACAC at west broad village. 5 burpees, 20 merkins, 20 Fredy mercuries,. Head to Ironworks for 20 monkey humpers in from of Manscapes store because he didn’t show up, hopefully he has surveillance cameras. Mosey toward Dave and Busters more of the same 5, 20 and 20. Head to pump and repeat once there. Mosey back to flag but take bus loop two times to hit our 3 miles.  Circle up: name and numbers name the 2 FNGs. Thanks for letting me be part and always a great day to sweat and be together as a brotherhood Close in prayer

  • Baseball is ninety percent mental, and the other half is physical

Four warriors and one bad softball player met at WTH for some punishment following a 0-2 beating last night for my Christ Church Episcopal softball team.

We moseyed the long way to the Short Pump Park softball field and did some warmups in left field foul territory. Then we did a set of long suicides from foul line to foul line using the 4 light polls as markers.

After that run, we went to the diamond. My team did not get around the bases enough so we made up for it today. Man at first doing Monkey Humpers (switched to Squats for round 2&3), second base doing HRM, 3rd base with Flutters and Home plate doing ten burpees as the timer (switched to 5 for last round) and then runs to first to relieve person at first base and send them on to relieve person at second and so on. We did it once, twice, three times and were out.

We ran north to SPES and Salt Lick thought we made it back to Pocahontas already. Sorry Salt Lick. We continued north until we saw Mr. Rogers car(s) and headed east to Nissan and then back to John Rolfe and all the way back to the flag. One loop of the bus loop still only got us to 2.6 miles. Just like my softball team, I failed! It’s like deja vu all over again.

Announcements: Pickleball Mondays at Forest Hill Park. I am leading the Bridge on 7/19, please consider joining me.

Prayers for Roger Roger, Fireman Ed and Fudd’s sister Mary.

And remember, when you come to a fork in the road, take it!

  • Dutch Olympians Unite

Having gotten the memo, 3 gloom stallions descended upon Pocahontas MS, all donning bright orange shirts. The clock struck 5:30am and like Dutch Olympians going for gold, we were off. COT consisted of some SSHs, arm circles, cherry pickers, DQs, Mt climbers, WWIIs & a 60-second leg hold while YHC defined today’s version of BLIMPS (5 Burpees, 5 Lt. Dans, 5 Imperial Walkers, 5 Merkins, 5 Plank Jacks & 5 SSHs). We went behind the school, took Wally (my dog) off the leash, did a lap and then did a BLIMPS. Then another lap. And another BLIMPS. Lap. Blimps. Lap. Blimps. Lap. Blimps. With seconds remaining, we knocked out 30 FMs. And time!

Numbers. Names. Announcements: Joey’s Hot Dogs next week (6/10) at 12pm for 2nd F. The Summer Tour continues. Prayer Requests: Continued prayers for Mary Hart, Roger Roger’s post surgery recovery and having received his final treatment, we prayed that Fireman Ed will have a full and complete recovery. Fun fact: while enduring treatments and this entire process, Fireman Ed leveled up to a heavier kettlebell at Circus Maximus. Far out!

Thought for the day: Each day is a gift. How often do we do something for the last time, unaware this is the case? Tmrw is not promised. Today, treat it like it’s special. Try to stay present. Be kind. Try your best.

    SYITG!
