In the third temptation of Jesus (Luke 4: 9-12), the devil tells Jesus to throw himself down from the pinnacle of the temple because God will protect him. Jesus responds “Don’t put the Lord your God to the test.” The point; it’s one thing to ask for God to protect you from things you couldn’t prevent. But if you do something stupid, that’s on you.
